Amma, there is nothing there at home for lunch today? son called up his mother`s office and asked. But the mother took it by surprise and asked, “How come you are coming for lunch today?
Generally you eat outside after college and go directly to tuitions”?
But amma, you know I am having severe cold and I cannot eat outside today, I am so hungry and there is nothing left at home for me to eat?
But my dear, you didn’t tell me anything in the morning that you will be there for lunch, thats why I prepared enough for your dad and my tiffin only.
Amma please don’t give excuses and explanations, I am getting late for my tutions and I am going now.
But my dear son, what will you have now? You told you are hungry. I am so far that I cannot even come home to prepare you anything.
Leave it amma, I am getting late, and nothing will happen even if I stay fasting one time. Bye.
The incident was pricking her mind through out the day till she leave the office. On reaching home she was not in a mood even to have a cup of coffee. She was still feeling bad that her son is fasting right from the morning.
Generally she use to prepare some extra food, but of late she realised that it is going waste and stopped it today only. She felt very guilty and sad that her son had nothing to eat for lunch.
As soon as her son came from tuitions she made some hot snacks and served him. And both of them were happy for viewing the tamil serial in sun tv.
As usual the appa, amma and the son assembled in the dining table for dinner. She served both of them food and removed her lunch box from her purse.
Why amma, you are eating you lunch box now? You had any lunch party today? The son asked.
Appa said, no dear she didn’t had anything in lunch today. She told me that she was not at all in a mood to have anything after she came to know that you went your classes starving.
The son tried to hide his emotions and blaming himself. I should not have over reacted in that situation. I don’t remember what I have told her due to anger because of my hunger.
When I could convey my anger, I should have conveyed that also, that I had some heavy snacks before classes. See, because of me my poor mother is fasting right from the morning.
He could not eat anything and hugged her mother and confessed what had happen and pleaded for pardon for being so much rude.
The mother and son were blaming themselves for the situation and consoling each other. Yes that is mother.
The father was looking them as a mere spectator as tears flowing all over their cheeks and all were filled, with out having any food………………………………….
