“ஓதி மலை முருகனின் அற்புதம்”

  
 சத்தியமங்கலம் அருகே 25 கிலோ மீட்டர் தொலைவில் உள்ள இடம் ஓதி மலை, இங்கே முருகன் கோவில் அமைந்துள்ளது. வறட்சியான பகுதி, மரங்கள் அதிகம் இருக்காது, இருக்கும் பெரும்பாலான மரங்களும் முள் மரங்களே. கோவில் 1650+100 செங்குத்தான படிக்கட்டுகளை கொண்டது, நகரத்து வயதானவர்கள் ஏற முடியாது, வயது குறைந்தவர்களே இதில் ஏற திணறி விடுவார்கள், உண்மையிலேயே மிக சிரமம் முதல் முறை எங்கும் உட்காராமல் செல்ல வேண்டும் என்று முடிவு செய்து கடைசியில் நாக்கு தள்ளி முக்கால்வாசி முக்கி முக்கி போயும் வேறு வழி இல்லாமல் உட்கார்ந்துவிட்டேன். கொஞ்சம் மறந்து பின்னால் சாய்ந்தாலும் பல்டி போட்டு விடுவோம், அவ்வளோ செங்குத்தான பகுதி. மிகைப்படுத்தி கூறவில்லை. நான் சபரி மலை சென்ற போது கூட இவ்வளோ சிரம படவில்லை. இந்த கோவிலுக்கு நடந்து மட்டுமே போக முடியும்,வாகன பாதை கிடையாது.
கோவில் மிக எளிமையாக இருக்கும்,எந்த ஒரு ஆடம்பரமும் இல்லாமல். இந்த கோவிலுக்கு வரும் ஐயர் வாரத்தில் மூன்று நாட்கள் மட்டுமே வருவார் (படி ஏறி படி ஏறி திடமாக இருக்கிறார்) ஒரு சில நாட்கள் கோவிலிலேயே தங்கி விடுவார். அவர் எப்படி தான் ஏறி போய் பூசை செய்கிறாரோ !! நினைத்தாலே கண்ணை கட்டுது.எந்த வித ஆடம்பர அலங்காரமும் இல்லாமல் எளிமையான முருகன் சிலை, பார்க்கவே அற்புதம். இத்தனை உயர மலையிலும் ஒரு கிணறு உள்ளது. கஷ்டப்பட்டு நடந்து வந்தாலும் மேலே வந்ததும் ஒரு நிம்மதி கிடைக்கிறது.
விசயத்துக்கு வருகிறேன், என்னுடைய அக்கா இந்த கோவில் முருகன் மேல் அளவுகடந்த நம்பிக்கை வைத்து இருக்கிறார்கள், இங்கே சென்று வேண்டினால் நல்லது நடக்கும் என்று அவர்கள் நம்பிக்கை, அதை உண்மை ஆக்கும் வகையில் ஒரு சில சம்பவங்கள் நடந்தன, எனவே எனக்கும் மிக ஆச்சர்யம். நமக்கும் மேலே ஒரு சக்தி உள்ளது என்பதை நான் முழுமையாக நம்புபவன். கடவுள் மீது நம்பிக்கை உண்டு ஆனால் கண்மூடித்தனமான நம்பிக்கை இல்லை. நடந்த ஒரு சில விஷயங்கள் என் நம்பிக்கையை அதிகரித்துள்ளது.
என் அக்காவின் கணவர் உறவினர் 4 பேருக்கும் எங்கள் உறவினர் ஒருவருக்கும் இந்த கோவில் சென்ற வந்த பிறகு குழந்தை பிறந்தது (நீண்ட காலமாக குழந்தை இல்லாமல்) மூவரின் நிலை எனக்கு சரியாக தெரியவில்லை ஆனால் உண்மை. எனக்கு தெரிந்த மீதி இருவர் பற்றி கூறுகிறேன்
ஒரு தம்பதிக்கு நீண்ட நாட்களாக குழந்தை இல்லை, பல மருத்துவர்களிடம் காண்பித்து விட்டார்கள் மருத்துவர்களும் ஆணின் விந்தணுவில் சரியான அளவு உயிரணு இல்லை,எனவே குழந்தை பிறப்பதற்கான வாய்ப்பே இல்லை என்று கூறி விட்டார்கள், திருமணம் ஆகி 5 வருடம் ஆகி விட்டது. அனைவரும் கை விட்ட பிறகு அனைவருக்கும் நினைவு வருவது கடவுள் தானே. எனவே என் அக்காவின் விருப்பத்திற்காக இதையும் முயற்சி பண்ணலாமே என்று அவர்கள் கோவில் சென்று முருகனை வேண்டி வந்தார்கள், அடுத்த மாதமே அவர்கள் கருவுற்றார்கள், தற்போது குழந்தை பிறந்து நலமுடன் இருக்கிறார்கள். இது நம்பவே முடியாத அதிசயம்.
இன்னொரு தம்பதி எனக்கு மிக நெருங்கிய உறவினர் திருமணம் ஆகி 20 வருடம் ஆகி விட்டது ஒரு முறை கருத்தரித்து அழிந்து விட்டது. பிறகு கருவுறவே இல்லை, அவரின் (ஆணின்) விந்தணுவில் உயிரணு இல்லை என்று கூறி விட்டார்கள். இவரும் இந்த கோவில் வந்து வேண்டி கொண்டார், இதற்காக பல விரதங்கள் பல வேண்டுதல்கள் என்று பட்ட கஷ்டம் சொல்லி மாளாது. பிறகு என் அக்காவின் ஆலோசனை படி (என் அக்கா மருத்துவர்) சென்னை கமலா மருத்தவரிடம் ஆலோசனை பெற்று செயற்கை முறையில் தற்போது கருத்தரித்துள்ளார்கள்.
இது அறிவியல் தான் இங்கே எங்கே கடவுள் வந்தார் என்றால் என்னிடம் பதில் இல்லை. 20 வருடம் குழந்தை இல்லாமல் பலரின் கேலிக்கும் கிண்டலுக்கும் ஆளாகி பல நாட்கள் அழுது, மற்றவர்களின் பேச்சுகளை சமாளித்து இந்த நிலையை அடைந்தவர்களிடம் போய் இது கடவுள் செயல் அல்ல அறிவியல் என்று கூறினால் நம்மை அவர் என்ன கூறுவார் என்று நான் சொல்லி தெரியவேண்டியதில்லை. வெளியே இருந்து கூறுகிறவர்கள் என்ன வேண்டும் என்றாலும் கூறலாம், கஷ்டபடுகிறவர்களுக்கு மட்டுமே அதன் அருமை புரியும். தற்போது கருவுற்று இருக்கிறார்கள், இன்னும் குழந்தை பிறக்கவில்லை, அவர்கள் நலமுடன் குழந்தை பெற அந்த முருகன் ஆசிவர்த்திப்பானாக (Updated: இவருக்கு குழந்தை பிறந்து நலமுடன் இருக்கிறார்கள்).
இன்னொரு பெண், இவருக்கு திருமணமே ஆகவில்லை. பல இடங்களில் முயற்சி செய்தும் சரியான வரன் கிடைக்கவில்லை. என் திருமணத்திற்கு முன்பு இருந்து பார்க்கிறார்கள். தற்போது என் அக்கா கோவிலுக்கு சென்று வர கூறி, போய் வந்த பிறகு தற்போது நல்ல இடத்தில் வரன் கிடைத்துள்ளது.
கோவிலுக்கு போகாமல் இருந்தால் கடவுள் வரன் கொடுக்க வில்லை என்றால், அது என்ன கடவுள் என்று கேட்டால் என்னிடம் பதில் இல்லை. திருமணம் ஆகாமல் தள்ளி போவது எவ்வளோ பெரிய கொடுமை என்று அந்த நிலையில் இருப்பவர்களுக்கு தான் தெரியும் அதுவும் குறிப்பாக பெண்கள். அந்த நிலையில் இருப்பவர்கள் கடவுளிடம் உன்னை தேடி வந்தால் தான் கொடுப்பாயா என்றெல்லாம் கேக்கும் மன நிலையில் இருக்க மாட்டார்கள். கஷ்டப்படாம எதுவும் கிடைக்காது.
நான் மூன்று முறை இதோடு சென்று வந்துள்ளேன் எனக்கும் பல நன்மைகள் நடந்ததாகவே கருதுகிறேன். என் பகுதியை விளக்க வேண்டிய அவசியம் இல்லை. இதை நான் ஏன் கூறினேன் என்றால் இதை போல கஷ்டப்படுபவர்கள் நிறைய பேர் இருப்பார்கள், பல முயற்சிகளை செய்து இருப்பார்கள், கடைசியாக இதையும் ஏன் முடிந்தால் முயற்சித்து பார்க்க கூடாது, நல்லது நடக்கவில்லை என்றாலும், கெட்டது நடக்க வாய்ப்பில்லையே. நம்பிக்கையோடு எதை செய்தாலும் அதற்க்கு பலன் உண்டு, அது கடவுளுக்கு எனும் போது கொஞ்சம் கூடுதல் சக்தி இருப்பதாகவே உணருகிறேன்.
கடவுள் நம்பிக்கை பற்றி பேசும் போதெல்லாம் எனக்கு நினைவுக்கு வருவது நமது பதிவர் அனுராதா அவர்கள் கூறியது தான். “நான்கு பக்கமும் கஷ்டம் வந்தால் நாத்திகனும் ஆத்திகன் ஆகி விடுவான்”

Why an iPad Mini might be the right tablet for you

So, rumor has it that Apple will host an event on the imminent horizon—give or take two weeks—to announce a smaller iPad model. The “Apple iPad Mini” as it’s been dubbed by the rumor mill, is expected to be a 7 or 8-inch sibling of the iPad, designed to compete with smaller tablet rivals like the Google Nexus 7, or the Amazon Kindle Fire HD.

There’s never a shortage of gossip and rumors when it comes to mysterious new Apple products, but there does seem to come a point where the speculation reaches critical mass and it seems more likely than not that there’s truth behind it. Assuming an iPad Mini is, in fact, impending, it will probably be a game changer.

Rumor has it that iOS might soon have three sizes to choose from.
Despite initial claims that the iPad is strictly a “media consumption device” not suited for business, the tablet continues to be widely adopted for business use across a variety of industries. Reports earlier this year indicated that 94 percent of the Fortune 500, and 70 percent of the Global 500 corporations were already testing or deploying the Apple tablet.

The sheer volume of quality apps has helped drive the dominance of the iPad, and the dominance of the iPad has helped drive interest from developers to create quality iOS apps. It’s a self-feeding circle that has resulted in apps to perform virtually any business function you can think of.

Since the launch of the iPhone, and the original iPad, iOS integration with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync has evolved significantly. IT admins can exert a great deal of control over iOS devices through Exchange ActiveSync policies.

The reason that an iPad Mini could be a game changer is that it is expected to cost $250 or $300 tops. Other 7-inch tablets are available in the $200 to $250 range, so it makes sense that an iPad Mini would be around $250 in order to be competitive. As great as the iPad is, businesses are going to be inclined to get those same features and capabilities at half the cost if the iPad Mini pricing estimates are accurate.

For businesses that are already deploying iPhones and iPads, or allowing employees to use their own iOS devices in a BYOD (bring your own device) scenario, an iPad Mini will make perfect sense. The iOS platform, the apps, and the culture will all be consistent with what everyone is already used to.

Businesses that are more Android-oriented, or using Windows Phone or BlackBerry devices may need to look more closely at the potential value of an iPad Mini, and weigh the features and capabilities against Android equivalents, or the upcoming barrage of Windows 8 tablets like the Microsoft Surface.

Granted, this is all pure speculation. Why? Well, because officially there’s no such thing as an iPad Mini, and nobody really has any clue what the features and capabilities of such a device will be if it does exist. As of right now, all we have are “leaked” images and information that might be fake, and hints of a possible Apple press event that was originally rumored to be this week, but pushed back to next week when no invitations arrived to confirm the first rumor.

So, maybe there will soon be an Apple iPad Mini. Maybe there won’t. If there is, though, I think it’s safe to assume it will have a seismic impact on the 7-inch tablet market. More importantly, if the price is right and the capabilities are remotely similar to those of the larger iPad, the iPad Mini could be an ideal device for business use.

Austrian Skydiver Felix Baumgartner Breaks The Speed Of Sound

Felix Baumgartner successfully jumped from 24 miles above Earth today.

By doing this, the 43-year-old from Austria became the first person to break the speed of sound wearing only a high-pressure suit.

A top speed of 833.9 mph, or mach 1.24 was reached.

“I could feel myself break the speed of sound. I could feel the air building up and then I hit it,” Baumgartner said according to the Red Bull Stratos Twitter feed.

The landmark jump comes 65 years to the day after U.S. Air Force Captain Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier in a rocket plane.

Baumgartner shattered three other world records: highest manned balloon flight, highest altitude jump and the fastest free fall.

The latter two milestones were first set by former Air Force test pilot Joseph Kittinger in 1960, who served as Baumgartner’s mentor throughout five years of meticulous preparation.

Baumgartner did not set a new record for the longest free fall. Kittinger still holds onto that title with his free fall of 4 minutes and 36 seconds. The Austrian ‘s free fall only lasted 4 minutes and 19 seconds.

There were a couple of scares during the skydiver’s fall to Earth. He went into a flat spin shortly after jumping from the space capsule platform. Then, the heat plate in his face visor wasn’t working. That caused his helmet to fog up.

But after tumbling through the atmosphere, Baumgartner deployed his parachute and safely plopped down onto the New Mexican desert. He swiftly dropped to his knees and threw up his arms in victory. Less than minutes and 130,000 feet later, the Austrian was home.

Here’s all the preliminary data from the jump:

Altitude reached: 128,097 feet

Total time from jump to landing: 9 min. 3 seconds

Freefall duration: 4 min. 19 seconds

Top speed:  833.9 mph

Hypersonics, a plunge into the future of aviation….

A FOUR-HOUR hypersonic plane trip from Sydney to London, the stuff of science fiction, is about to take a step closer to reality.

Next May, an international consortium spearheaded by the University of Queensland, will launch Scramspace, a 1.8-metre free-flying hypersonic scramjet, from the Andoya Rocket Range in the Arctic regions of Norway.

Launched atop a conventional rocket, it will reach an altitude of 340 kilometres before plunging back to earth in a hypersonic death dive, reaching a top speed of Mach 8 – 8600km/h. For five seconds – between 32 and 27 kilometres – the air will be thick enough for Scramspace to test its engine.

Then it will crash.

It sounds wasteful, but this is how Australia has been testing scramjet engines since 2002 – launch up, plunge down, test engine briefly, crash. Scramjets – which take the oxygen they need for combustion from the atmosphere rather than onboard tanks – need hypersonic airflow to work and a death dive is an effective way of getting the required speed.

Hypersonic means Mach 5 (five times the speed of sound) or faster. Supersonic jets such as the Concorde must slow the engine airflow to subsonic speeds and won’t work past Mach 4 because of drag and other factors.

The chair of hypersonics at the University of Queensland, Russell Boyce, said that whereas previous test engines such as HyShot remained attached to the launch rocket during their dive, Scramspace would detach. ”It’s going to fall back into the atmosphere by itself, which means that we can actually measure its performance,” he said. ”We can see, when we switch the fuel on, whether that will produce thrust or not. We’ll be able to see whether the combustion processes that take place in the scramjet produce thrust in the way that we think they do.”

Other countries are doing hypersonic research as well – the United States, for example, is testing its own scramjet engine called the X-51. It’s also developing the Falcon Hypersonic Technology Vehicle 2, a type of missile for delivering a non-nuclear warhead.

But all are a long way from a working hypersonic aircraft – manned or unmanned, freight or passenger, military or civilian – said Professor Boyce.

”A ‘without people’ craft will come sooner than a ‘with people’ craft because of the complexities involved,” he said. ”They will be overcome eventually, they just won’t be soon.”

Probably the leading proposal for a fast passenger plane, said Professor Boyce, is called ZEHST (Zero Emission Hyper Sonic Transport), being designed by Airbus’ parent company, EADS. But despite its name, ZEHST isn’t truly hypersonic as it can only reach Mach 4. Even so, it is still decades away.

Travelling from Sydney to London in two hours would require an extremely fast speed of Mach 8, said Professor Boyce. ”That’s far-fetched. Mach 6 is still pretty fast, but it’s far more manageable than Mach 8.” At that speed, London to Sydney would be more like four hours.

And it would be an indirect route because of the damage caused by sonic booms. Forget about flying over the Middle East and Europe en route to Heathrow. ”They won’t be able to speed over land,” he said. ”If you’re flying from London to Sydney you’d fly up over the North Pole then down through the Bering Strait and then down over the Pacific.” A convoluted route, but ”you can still get there pretty fast if you’re travelling at that speed”.

One of the partners in Scramspace is the Defence Science and Technology Organisation, a branch of the Department of Defence. The chief of the air vehicles division, Ken Anderson, said hypersonics was ”the last remaining challenge in aeronautics” and the technical challenges were enormous.

”We don’t know whether a hypersonic vehicle will be cost-effective or affordable or even functional,” he said.

”The environment is incredibly hostile. These devices get hot and their fins melt and that’s in a flight of a few minutes. There are a lot of challenges to be worked out.

”People are fond of saying, ‘Yes, it’s wonderful to come to Australia but only if it didn’t take 30 hours, if I could do it in two hours it would be wonderful’. But it’s pie-in-the-sky at this stage.”

Does Apple really know what time it is?

When iOS 6 was released last month, astute railroad buffs and timepiece aficionados alike couldn’t help but notice the spartan yet elegant design of the clock app Apple was now featuring in its iPad. The clock interface, as the Gadgetmac blog pointed out, was a dead ringer for the award-winning design seen in railway stations throughout Switzerland.

Only one problem: apparently Apple had not received permission from Swiss railway operator SBB to use its trademark design.

It seemed a particularly egregious move for a company notorious for going after others who rip off its own copyrighted and patented designs, a fact not lost on Samsung which recently got its own clock cleaned in federal court by Apple’s legal gunslingers.

After SBB threatened legal action against Apple, it now appears the two companies have patched things up.

“For the use of the clockface on certain Apple devices such as iPads and iPhones, the parties have negotiated an arrangement that enables Apple to use the SBB station clock under a license agreement,’’ said SBB, which holds the trademark for the 1944 design by Zurich-born engineer Hans Hilfiker.

Details of agreement were not disclosed.

But one party remains miffed. Mondaine Group, the company that has held the license since 1986 to make clocks and wristwatches for consumers based on the design classic, said it was not involved in the deal Apple made with SBB.

“As an exclusive licensee, we are surprised to hear about the licensing agreement between SBB and Apple,” Ronnie Bernheim, the company’s co-owner, told Reuters, but declined to say whether he would take any further action.

More legal action against Apple? A new agreement, perhaps?

Only time will tell.

The so-called “iPad Mini” is the Sasquatch of the gadget world. Rumored for years, the smalleriPad looms ever closer to reality, with rumors of an imminent announcement and release ramping up nearly every day.

The gadget blogosphere, bolstered by a recent flurry of leaked photos and specs, seems to be taking the existence of the iPad Mini as an inevitability. But even assuming that the Mini is real — and that it’s coming soon — there are some key unknowns. Here are the biggest and most important ones.

How much will it cost? There’s a price war going on among cheap tablets. Between theGoogle Nexus 7, the Amazon Kindle Fire HD, and Barnes & Noble’s forthcoming Nook HD tablets, $199 can get you an astonishing amount of power in a 7-inch tablet. Closer to Thanksgiving, we’ll get the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD ($299 and up) and 9-inch Nook HD+ for an incredible $269. Meanwhile, the new iPod Touch (think of it as an “iPad Nano”) is $299 with 32GB of storage. And last year’s iPad 2 is $399. That’s a lot of amazing products in the $199-to-$399 price range — where will the iPad Mini fit in?

What is the name? Is it really the iPad Mini? Or would it be, as some are saying, the iPad Air? Or could it be something else?

What’s the screen resolution? Rumors saythat the iPad Mini won’t have a Retina Display like the 2012 iPad, but does that mean it will have the same 1,024×768-pixel resolution as the iPad 2? On a 7.85-inch display — the rumored iPad Mini screen size — pixel density would be higher than that on the larger iPad 2, even at the same resolution. Or, could the Mini have a new, unique screen resolution?

What’s the storage capacity? The full-size iPad has 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB variants, but a lot of the budget tablet space features 7-inch devices with 16GB or even less, down to 8GB for the entry-level $199 Nexus 7. The logical capacities for a smaller iPad would be 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, but would that make this newer iPad a more tempting purchase than the existing larger iPad?

What gets left out? Will the iPad Mini make any compromises to hit its (presumably lower) price range? No 3G or 4G wireless, perhaps, or maybe a downgraded camera. Maybe the onboard processor remains an A5, instead of an A5X or A6. Or, could the iPad Mini be just as full-featured?

Will there be candy colors? Early photos of what claim to be the iPad Mini show an anodized aluminum design that’s very similar to the new iPod Touch. Those iPods now come in bright colors. Could the new iPad take a similar path? It’s hardly an essential question, but color iPads could add a whole new “stocking stuffer” angle, and lead to accessory options.

Could there be a killer accessory? Much like the Smart Cover for the iPad 2, maybe the newest iPad will have a special case, cover, or clever add-on that makes the product more appealing. Think a next-gen Smart Cover — maybe one with a keyboard.
