Kids Prove Smarter than Albert Einstein !!!!!!

Five Kids Who Are Smarter Than Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein is one of history’s brightest minds, but recently, two girls too young to drive both bested his alleged IQ score of 160.
The budding geniuses, ages 15 and 12 respectively, earned official IQ scores of 162, putting them in the top 1 percent of the population. (The average IQ is 100.)
But they’re hardly the first youngsters to beat Einstein in the smarts department — at least on paper.
Here, a few notable kids who recently scored higher than Mr. Relativity:
1. Fabiola Mann
Age tested: 15
IQ score: 162
Fabiola, who was born in Goa, India, but currently lives in the U.K., recently begged her parents to pay the fee and let her take Mensa’s IQ test. The 15-year-old “has a purple belt in karate and is now taking tae kwon do in school,” says Forbes. She enjoys the classic genius hobby of chess, plays the piano and guitar, and can sing as well.

2. Olivia Manning
Age tested: 12
IQ score: 162
“Everyone knew 12-year-old British schoolgirl Olivia Manning was smart,” says Madeline Holler at Babble. A quick learner, she required only 24 hours to learn all her lines for a performance of Macbeth. But even she was “surprised when the results of an IQ test came back,” and she scored a 162 — higher than astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, Bill Gates, and yes, Einstein himself.

3. Jacob Barnett
Age tested: 12
IQ score: 170
At age 2, Jacob Barnett was diagnosed with a mild form of Asperger’s. Turns out, he was just functioning at a higher level than everyone else. Jake, who appears to have an affinity for wearing caps backwards, is already taking advanced college math and astrophysics classes near his home in Indiana. As revealed during a 2011 appearance on Glenn Beck’s Fox News show, Jacob would like to become a professor at a high-ranking college and make high-level math textbooks easier to understand.

4. Pranav Veera
Age tested: 6
IQ score: 176
When he took the test in 2009, this young resident of Loveland, Ohio, could recite the U.S. presidents in order, say the alphabet backward, and tell you the day of the week of any given date going back to the year 2000. He was also 6. Blessed with a photographic memory, Pranav says that one day he’d like to be an astronaut.

5. Victoria Cowie
Age tested: 11
IQ score: 162
Victoria Cowie, another British schoolgirl, “isn’t glued to her studies,” says her mother. “She loves drama and music and plays football too.” But the young girl scored a whopping 162 on her IQ test in 2011, and has been offered scholarships from high-ranking secondary schools. When asked what she wants to be when she grows up, Victoria says she’d like to work with animals and become a vet.

Students build and Fly 3D Printed Plane!!!

This post was originally published on Mashable.

The sky’s the limit for 3D printing. Two students at the University of Virginia 3D-printed and assembled a plane. When it successfully took off, their unmanned plane became just the third 3D-printed drone to ever fly.

3D printing is a revolutionary technology, which some speculate could have an impact similar to that of the personal computer. In fact, new potential applications for 3D printers seem to be appearing every week.

The technology has been used to design artificial legs, wounded animals are getting plastic beaks, and even meat could be soon 3D printed.

Steven Easter and Jonathan Turman, two third-year engineering students at University of Virginia for the MITRE Corporation, a federally funded research and development centre, designed and assembled the plane this year. The result of their work is a 6.5-foot wingspan drone, entirely built with 3D-printed parts.

The students proved that 3D printing can bring manufacturing cost down and still deliver a quality product. “To make a plastic turbofan engine to scale five years ago would have taken two years, at a cost of about $US250,000,” David Sheffler, a U.Va. Engineering School alumnus and 20-year veteran of the aerospace industry who helped the two students, told UVAToday. “But with 3D printing, we designed and built it in four months for about $US2000.”

Hinduism…. A Way of Life for the Ages, Today and Tomorrow….

Source::::: input from one of my friends.
Natarajan

One has often heard it said that Hinduism isn’t a religion, it’s a state of mind.
In the troubled times of today, with religions too often playing regressive roles
in keeping human beings on the the road to sanity, this is an interesting
reading of what Hinduism means, and is.

Hindu Wisdom…

You don’t even have to be religious to read it and understand its value.

The beauty of being a Hindu lies in your freedom to be who you want to be. Nobody can tell you what to do, or what not to do. There is no central authority, no single leader of the faith. No one can pass an order to excommunicate you, or like in some countries, pass a decree that orders a woman’s death by stoning for walking with a strange man.

We don’t appreciate our freedom because we can’t feel the plight of others who aren’t free. Many religions have a central authority with awesome power over the individual. They have a clear chain of command, from the lowliest local priest to the highest central leader. Hinduism somehow escaped from such central authority and the Hindu has miraculously managed to hold on to his freedom through the ages.

How did this happen?

Vedanta is the answer. When the writers of Vedanta emerged, around 1500 BC, they faced an organised religion of orthodox Hinduism. This was the post-Vedic age, where ritualism was practiced, and the masses had no choice but to follow. It was a coercive atmosphere.

The writers of Vedanta rebelled against this authority and moved away from society into forests. This was how the ‘Aranyakas’, literally ‘writings from the forest’, were written. These later paved the way for the Upanishads, and Vedanta eventually caught the imagination of the masses. It emerged triumphant, bearing with it the clear voice of personal freedom.

This democracy of religious thought, so intrinsic to Vedantic intelligence, sank into the mindset of every Indian. Most couldn’t fathom the deep wisdom it contained, but this much was very clear. They understood that faith was an expression of personal freedom and one could believe at will. That’s why Hinduism saw an explosion of Gods. There was a God for every need and every creed. If you wanted to build your muscles, you worshiped a God with fabulous muscles. If you wanted to pursue education, there was a Goddess of Learning. If it was wealth you were looking for, then you looked up to the Goddess of wealth — with gold coins coming out of her hands. If you wanted to live happily as a family, you worshiped Gods who specially blessed families. When you grew old and faced oncoming death, you spent time in contemplating a God whose business it was to dissolve everything — from an individual to the entire Universe.

Everywhere, divinity appeared in the manner and form you wanted it to appear, and when its use was over, you quietly discarded that form of divinity and looked at new forms of the divine that was currently of use to you. ‘Yad Bhavam, tad Bhavati’… what you choose to believe becomes your personal truth, and freedom to believe is always more important than belief itself.

Behind all this — was the silent Vedantic wisdom that Gods are but figments of human imagination. As the Kena Upanishad says, “Brahma ha devebhyo vijigye…” All Gods are mere subjects of the Self. It implies that it is far better that God serves Man than Men serve God. Because Men never really serve God — they only obey the dictates of a religious head who speaks for that God, who can turn them into slaves in God’s name.

Hindus have therefore never tried to convert anyone. Never waged war in the name of religion. The average Hindu happily makes Gods serve him as per his needs. He discards Gods when he has no use for them. And new Gods emerge all the time — in response to market needs. In this tumult, no central authority could survive. No single prophet could emerge and hold sway, no chain of command could be established.

Vedanta had injected an organised chaos into Hinduism and that’s the way it has been from the last thirty five centuries. Vedanta is also responsible, by default, for sustaining democracy. When the British left India, it was assumed that the nation would soon break up. Nothing of that kind has happened. The pundits of doom forgot that the Indian had been used to religious freedom from thousands of years. When he got political freedom, he grabbed it naturally. After all, when you can discard Gods why can’t you discard leaders? Leaders like Gods are completely expendable to the Indian mindset. They are tolerated as long as they serve the people, and are replaced when needs change. It’s the triumph of people over their leaders, and in this tumult, no dictator can ever take over and rule us. Strange how the thoughts of a few men living in forests, thirty five centuries ago, can still echo inside the hearts of Indians.

Cat is Out of the Bag!!!!….iPad mini from Apple hits Market!!!

source::::::Reuters….article by
Poornima Gupta and Noel Randewich

(Reuters) – Apple Inc will begin to sell an 8-inch version of the iPad on Friday to compete with Amazon.com Inc’s Kindle and other smaller tablets, but it set a higher-than-expected price tag of $329 that Wall Street fears could curb demand.

The 7.9 inch “iPad mini” marks the iPhone-maker’s first foray into the smaller-tablet segment. Apple hopes to beat back incursions onto its home turf of consumer electronics hardware, while safeguarding its lead in a larger tablet space – one that even deep-pocketed rivals like Samsung Electronics have found tough to penetrate.

Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook and marketing chief Phil Schiller took the wraps off the new tablet, which essentially has most of the functions and features of the full-size iPad but in a smaller package.

Priced at $329 for a wi-fi only model, the iPad mini is a little costlier than some predicted, but some analysts see that as a bid to retain premium pricing levels. Others fear the gadget will lure buyers away from Apple’s $499 flagship 10-inch iPad, while proving ineffective in combating the threat of Amazon’s $199 Kindle Fire and Google’s Nexus 7, both of which are sold at or near cost.

“Apple has always been a premium hardware manufacturer. It’s basically a hardware company and they don’t have Google advertising or Amazon’s online store to fall back on,” said Destination Wealth Management CEO Michael Yoshikami.

“But people are happy to pay a premium because it’s quality hardware, and the ecosystem (of content and apps) cannot be underestimated.”

JMP Securities analyst Alex Gauna said, however, “It’s coming in the range that most were grumbling about and that, quite frankly, we’re a little bit concerned about.”

“It’s a little confusing at this juncture to try and figure out how it fits into the line-up. Is it going to cannibalize the more expensive iPad?” he said.

“It is worth noting that there are zero-margin products out there competing with them now … and that is presenting some challenges to Apple.”

Frank Gillett, an analyst with Forrester who attended the event, said he was impressed with the lightness of the iPad mini, which he got a chance to play with following the event.

“Apple went for the high end of what people have been thinking of,” Gillett said, adding that Amazon and Google may have to adjust their product lineups to compete with the iPad mini.

The focus on growing competition was evident as Schiller – at the iPad mini’s launch event, held in San Jose’s California Theatre – compared the iPad mini with Google’s popular 7-inch Nexus 7 tablet, citing feature by feature why the new Apple device was superior. It is unusual for Apple to single out a specific competitor in its product launches.

“Theirs is made of plastic,” Schiller said, referring to the Android tablet. “The entire Android product is thicker and heavier.”

Schiller later defended Apple’s pricing of the iPad mini, telling reporters he expects consumers to recognize quality and be willing to pay for it.

FASTER AND SLIMMER

In a surprise move, Apple also announced a fourth-generation full-sized iPad just six months after unveiling a third generation device to much fanfare. The latest tablet, which again sells for $499, is faster and slimmer and comes just days before Microsoft is due to show off its own “Surface” tablet.

Apple also unveiled thinner MacBook Pro laptops, including a 13-inch Retina display.

SIGHTS ON AMAZON

The iPad was launched in 2010 by late Apple visionary Steve Jobs and since then it has taken a big chunk out of PC sales, upending the industry and reinventing mobile computing with its apps-based model, often called an ecosystem.

A smaller tablet is the first device to be added to Apple’s compact portfolio under Cook, who took over from Jobs just before his death a year ago.

“It’s very cool,” Cook said of the iPad mini. “We told you earlier this year you would see some incredible innovation from Apple across the year. We think we kept our promise.”

In a rarity for a company that tightly controls events, Apple live-streamed its invitation-only presentation to Apple devices such as the iPad and Macintosh computers.

The Kindle and Nexus 7 have grabbed a chunk of the lower end of the tablet market and proved demand for a pocket-sized slate exists. Those companies’ tablets – the most successful other than Apple’s – have forced Apple into a space it has avoided and at times derided, analysts say.

Amazon’s 7-inch Kindle Fire released last year for $199 was one of the hottest-selling holiday gadgets. It pressured Amazon’s margins but potentially garnered millions of new high-spending customers for the online retailer.

Amazon sold more than a million Kindles a week during December, paving the way for Google to try out a similarly sized small tablet.

Amazon has now launched its second-generation Kindle Fire HD, which it says is the “best-selling product across all of Amazon worldwide,” based on undisclosed U.S. sales figures and international preorders.

Google’s Nexus 7 tablet, built by Asian manufacturer Asustek, won top marks from reviewers and quickly ran out of stock after its July launch.

All three companies will be vying to get their devices on shopping lists during the U.S. holiday season, which traditionally starts next month.

Surveys conducted ahead of Tuesday’s news suggested some consumers had hoped for a more affordable Apple mini tablet.

The “starting sweet spot” for the tablet would be in the $249-$299 range, according to a survey of more than a thousand consumers by Baird Equity Research.

PRICE IS KEY

Jobs famously derided the 7-inch screen, saying such a device should come with sandpaper so users can file down their fingers. But an internal email revealed during a patent trial showed he turned more favorable to the idea by early 2011.

Apple has sold 100 million iPads so far, with the device accounting for 26 percent of Apple’s fiscal third-quarter revenue.

But analysts are concerned now about erosion of Apple’s industry leading margins as it takes on the Kindle Fire. It earned gross margins of 23 percent to 32 percent on U.S. iPad sales between October 2010 and the end of March 2012, according to a July court filing by Apple.

Amazon’s first Kindle Fire just about breaks even after manufacturing costs, according to IHS iSuppli estimates, and Google has said its Nexus 7 is being sold at cost.

“The pricing may limit sales. From a profitability perspective though, I think at $330 Apple is still getting adequate gross margins on the sales,” said Morningstar analyst Brian Colello. “But at that price point it may limit adoption and unit volumes.”

Apple’s shares ended regular trading down 3.2 percent at $613.36, after gaining 4 percent on Monday in the run-up to the event.

Temple images

What is in Store for you?….from Apple iPad Mini !!!!!

Here’s Everything You Need To Know About The iPad Mini Before Tomorrow’s Announcement

The iPad Mini Could Be More Expensive Than You Think

Everyone’s gearing up for Apple’s iPad Mini event tomorrow.
Given all the rumors swirling around, we thought we’d gather up what we consider to be the most realistic.
They won’t stay rumors for long, however. We’ll learn all the gritty details tomorrow.
In the meantime…
Expect to pay around $329

We’re seeing reports that Apple will market the iPad Mini as a more premium device, and this rumored price tag reflects that.
It might not have the high-resolution Retina display
In order to keep the device lightweight, affordable, and easier on the battery, Apple is expected to forgo the Retina display used in its other iOS devices. That means the iPad Mini’s resolution will be more like the iPad 2’s.
What will it be called?

Apple blogger John Gruber suggests the device will be called one of three names: iPad Mini, iPad Air, or just iPad.
It will maintain the iPad’s aspect ratio
If this is the case, it will be a huge relief to developers. If it maintains the same aspect ratio, developers won’t have to rework their apps to teach them how to behave in a new aspect ratio, as they had to with the introduction of the iPhone 5.
It’ll have a huge battery

Some spy shots uncovered by MacRumors reveal that the inside of the iPad Mini is predominantly taken up by the battery. All things considered, it should last a long time on a single charge.
When can you buy it?

The word from 9to5Mac is that the device will be for sale on November 2.

It will come in two colors

Leaked SKU numbers show that the device will come in two colors. If history’s any indicator, they’ll be black and white.

Will it have the new Lightning port?

All signs point to yes. If the iPhone 5 and new iPod Touch are any indicator, Apple seems to be transitioning all its devices to the new Lightning connector.

Newyork to Tokyo in 90 Minutes !!!!!!!

Here’s The Spaceship That Will Let Rich People Fly From NYC To

Tokyo In 90 Minutes

xcor aerorspace lynx

XCOR Aerospace

Since the last flight of the Concorde in 2003, supersonic travel has been the province of jet fighter pilots and Felix Baumgartner.

XCOR Aerospace wants to change that. Out of a group of outfits looking to bring back travel faster than the speed of sound, it has an especially intriguing idea: flying from one airport to another, via outer space.

It’s no pipe dream: XCOR is busy building the Lynx, its suborbital commercial spacecraft, which will take off and land like a conventional plane, but offer a cruising speed of Mach 3.5, 62 miles above the ground.

As it moves toward its first test flights in early 2013, XCOR has built a full-scale mockup of the Lynx, which it brought to last week’s International Symposium for Personal and Commercial Spaceflight, in New Mexico.

The Lynx seats only two, and is a stepping stone to a future vehicle that will make point to point space travel a reality.

The design is not final yet, COO Andrew Nelson says. But it’s the best look yet at the craft that could make point to point travel in space a reality, and send passengers from New York to Tokyo in an hour and a half.
