Best Lines Ever said ……

“The Best Lines ever said by a Man….”
When I was born, A Woman was there
To hold me…MY MOTHER
As I grew up as a child, A Woman was there
To care & play with me…!MY SISTER
I went to school, A Woman was there to
Help me learn….MY TEACHER
I became depressed when I lost, A Woman
was there to offer a shoulder…MY GIRLFRIEND
I needed compatibility, company and Love,
A Woman was there for me….MY WIFE
I became tough, A Woman was there to
To melt me…!MY DAUGHTER
When I will die, A Woman will be there to
Absorb me in…MOTHERLAND
If you are a MAN, value every Woman…. And
If you are a WOMAN, feel PROUD to be one.
If you HAVE A DAUGHTER make her understand and appreciate HER Divine Qualities.
If you HAVE A SON, make Him understand and appreciate the Divine qualities of a GIRL, WOMAN and MOTHER !!!

Message For The Day….Have Determination and March on …

Be eager and earnest to know more and more about the art of unperturbed happy living. One can advance only step by step and there is the danger of slipping down two steps when you climb one. What matters is the determination to climb, the resistance with which the tendency to slide is met, the yearning to rise, to progress, to conquer the lower impulses and instincts. If you have that, the hidden spring of power will surge up within you; the Grace of the Lord will smoothen your path. Keep the ideal before you; march on. Only those with ideals are respected and remembered with gratitude, for posterity.

Spiritual Practice (Sadhana) is constantly cultivating good thoughts and undertaking good deeds. – Baba

Message For The Day…No Breath , No Life..Know Breath Know Life!!!!!

Only if there is alertness and presence of mind can your life improve. For this, you need to cultivate the habit of listening. Most of us are not good listeners. When you are listening to somebody, the speaker’s very first sentence triggers some conversation within you. You are constantly agreeing or disagreeing with the speaker. Have you ever wondered whether you can listen without any thoughts or pre-conceived notions? To cultivate the habit of listening, you have to “go” to a place where everything is beautiful!

Where is this place? That most beautiful place is within you! When you come to this place, then any place is beautiful. Then, wherever you go, you add beauty there.Learning something about our breath is very important. Our breath has a great lesson to teach us: for every rhythm in the mind, there is a corresponding rhythm in the breath, for every rhythm in the breath, there is a corresponding emotion. So, when you cannot handle your mind directly, through breath you can handle the mind. Neither at school nor at home does anybody teach you what to do when you are upset or angry or depressed.
The first thing we did when we came to this planet is that we took a deep breath and then we started to cry. The last thing we’ll be doing: we’ll breathe out and make others cry! In between, the whole life, we are breathing in and out, but, we have learnt very little about our breath! No breath, no life… know breath, know life! We need to learn a little bit about our breath. We need to know a little bit about all the layers of our existence-body, breath, mind, intellect, memory, ego and the self. This is what I call Art of Living, learning a little bit about ourselves, the seven layers of our life. And that makes you be in the present moment, and it helps us to maintain the innocence that we are all born with, and feel at home with everybody, anywhere.

What I would suggest is, take one week off every year for yourself, like you take your car for servicing. During that time, align yourself with nature, wake up with the sunrise,do some exercise, eat proper food, just as much food as necessary, some exercises, yoga, and some breathing exercises, a few minutes of singing, and then some silent moments, enjoying the creation. Book yourself on a trip to this most beautiful place in the universe. Then you find that every day is a vacation and a celebration!!!!

Message For The Day..” Who am I” ?

You have immense capacities latent in you, waiting to be tapped and used. You have many talents that have to be brought to light. You feel the urge to love all beings, and to share your joy and grief with fellow beings; to know more and satisfy the curiosity of your intellect, to peep behind the awe and wonder that Nature arouses in you. You are able to gather information about all kinds of things from all comers of the world, but you are unaware of what happens in the comers of your own mind. You know who is who among all the rest, but you do not know the answer to the simple question, “Who am I?” Without knowing this, people go about rashly judging, labelling and even libelling others! Each one has to ask oneself and seek out the clue to this enigma of one’s reality.

When you know that nothing happens without His will, everything has a
value added to it. – Baba

Periavaa”s Question and His Yardstick for a Decision….

The very first time I heard of Periyaval was in 1943, when I was in the sixth standard. One of my friends stopped our game in the evening because he was going with his uncle to have darshan of “Swamigal” who was camping at Thiruvanaikoil. A few days later my father the late Dr. V.Subramaniam known all over Tiruchirapalli and especially in the Mattam as he was a general practitioner and dental surgeon took my mother, sister and me to have darshanam too. It was late evening and he performed a pada poja in the presence of His Holiness in a small hut in the garden of the Thiruvanaikoil Mattam. I still remember the serene appearance and blissful smile of Maha Periyaval as he sat through the pada pooja for nearly half an hour. Sixty years have passed and when I close my eyes I can recall the scene to my mind.

One of my most vivid memories which changed the entire course of my life was the granting of permission by Maha Periyaval for me to go abroad. It was around April or May 1960. The first batches of students for the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarships were to be selected. The scholarship scheme was a unique decision from the Commonwealth Prime Ministers’ Conference at Colombo a few weeks earlier.

I appeared for the interview at Delhi and a few days later I received intimation of being selected for neurosurgical training at Edinburgh for two years. I informed my father who was at Trichy. In those days I knew that Maha Periyaval did not favour the idea of young boys from orthodox families going abroad for a long period of time. My father told me that I could go abroad only if Maha Periyaval gave me permission. So all of us went to Sri Mattam to seek Maha Periyaval’s blessings. The conversation went like this approximately.

My father: Raman has got a foreign scholarship to go to Scotland for training in brain surgery. He desires to go for the same.

His Holiness: What is the use of that?

My father: Now he has only got a MS degree General Surgery. If he goes abroad and qualifies in neuro surgery he can earn a lot of money.

His Holiness: What is the use of his going?

My father: He can go to England and get FRCS degree and also do research and get a PhD degree.

His Holiness: It is not that. What is the use to the public because of his going?

Then only my father understood His Holiness’s question and ideas.

He replied: Now there is only Dr. Ramamurthi who is doing brain operations. Many patients are not able to get treatment because there is only one person. Very many patients cannot afford to go abroad to get treatment. If Raman goes abroad and trains in neurosurgery and returns, he can operate on many patients. What is even more important is that he can train many doctors in India who can then in turn do brain operations for Indian patients So it will be of great benefit to the public.

His Holiness: If so, let him go.

This is a typical example of how His Holiness judged a certain situation. What mattered was not whether a Brahmin boy would be going abroad leaving his nityakarmanushtanam or a devotee would be able to get high qualifications or a devotee would be able to earn more money.

The real point at the heart of the issue was whether the common man in India would be benefited or not. That was the yardstick by which a decision was taken.

Jaya Jaya Shankara, Hara Hara Shankara!

Message for The Day….Namasmarana Will Make You to Stick to GOD….

A little unpaid debt will soon assume huge proportions through high rates of interest; a karma (action) however trite, done with intention to benefit by the fruit thereof will involve future births in order to eat the fruit. The scriptures recommend one to wipe off all outstanding balances of Karma through three clear steps: First, the execution of actions righteously, with the right mental attitude (Karma-Jijnasa). Then comes the observance of moral codes for the upkeep of society and the discharge of one’s duties and obligations (Dharma-Jijnasa). Finally, chanting the name of the Lord (Namasmarana) and considering it as one’s primary spiritual practice (Brahma-Jijnasa). Take any name of the Lord that pleases you – the cleansing value, curative value and the sweetness is exactly the same.Namasmarana will make you stick to the thought of God.

Devotion to the Divine will give you prosperity, peace and bliss. – Baba

Message for The Day….Practice Righteousness….

Each heart is a Dharmakshethra (a warfield of righteousness), where there is a constant battle between the forces of good and evil. Why, the whole world is a Dharmakshethra. Hence it is very essential that every single child and mother, each and every one of you be devoted to Dharma (righteousness). The holy Bhagavad Gita begins with the word, ‘Dharmakshethrae’ and in the final chapter appears the phrase “Sarva Dharman Parithyajya”, meaning ‘give up all Dharma’. The significance of this is that through Dharma, you have to transcend Dharma. What is needed is the steadfast practice of righteousness. Scholarship and wealth are often burdens, they are indeed a handicap. Practice alone counts in spiritual matters.

If there is righteousness in your heart, there will be beauty in your character
and harmony at your home. – Baba

Message for The Day…The Name of God will Light the Spark of Wisdom….

So long as the consequence of Karma persists, you are bound to be born again and again to finish the consumption thereof. The slate of Karma has to be wiped clean so that your account of birth and death can be settled and closed with no balance. The Name of the Lord can light the spark of love within you to ignite the fire of Spiritual Wisdom, which will guide your mind towards this goal. Just as two branches of a tree, when grated one against another for some time generates enough heat to set the tree on fire, so too, continuous and sincere repetition of the names of the Lord will light the spark of wisdom within you. The holy Bhagavad Geetha says, Jnanagni dagdha karmanam – ‘The flames of wisdom reduce to ashes the effects of all activities’; they do not affect one anymore just like a rope that has been reduced to ash can bind no more.

One who discriminates well before engaging in any activity will naturally be righteous in conduct and behavior. – Baba

Handful of Rice for Poor….Mahaperiva”s Advice….

Mahaperiavaa used to advice… “Everyday morning a handful of rice …uncooked… must be set apart for the poor. All families must do this without fail everyday. The rice thus kept must be collected from house to house every quarter , cooked and offered to the Deity of the local temple as Naivedya and then distributed among the poor people.

With the handful of rice every day, setapart for the poor people, keep just one Rupee also. The one Rupee collected from each family would be sufficient to buy cooking media and fuel . To carryout such a scheme is to do a great service to the poor. …and in turn to GOD.”
