மனதைத் தொடும் நிகழ்ச்சி.!

ஒரு நாள் வெய்யில் கடுமையாக இருந்த சமயம்.
பூஜையை முடித்துவிட்டு முன்பக்கத்தில் மகா பெரியவா
அமர்ந்திருந்தார்.

அந்தச் சமயம் வெய்யலின் கொடுமையைத் தாங்காமல்
வயதான ஒரு வளையல் வியாபாரி மடத்துக்குள் வந்து
தன் வளையல் பெட்டியை ஒர் ஓரமாக இறக்கி
வைத்துவிட்டு ஓய்ந்துபோய் உட்கார்ந்தான். அவருடைய
சோர்ந்த முகம் மகானின் கண்களில் பட்டது. மடத்து
ஊழியர் ஒருவர் மூலமாக வியாபாரியை தன் அருகே
அழைத்து வரச் செய்தார். மெதுவாக வியாபாரியை
விசாரித்தார்.

“உனக்கு எந்த ஊர்?வளையல் வியாபாரம் எப்படி
நடக்கிறது? உனக்கு எத்தனை குழந்தைகள்?”
போன்ற விவரங்களைக் கேட்டார்.

வளையல் வியாபாரி அதே ஊரைச் சேர்ந்தவர்தான்.
தன்னுடன் வயதான தனது தாயாரும்,மனைவி
மற்றும் நான்கு குழந்தைகள் தனக்கு இருக்கிறார்கள்
என்றும், கடந்த ஆறு மாத காலமாக வியாபாரம்
மிகவும் மந்தமாக இருப்பதால், ஜீவிப்பதே கஷ்டமாகஐ
இருக்கிறது என்றும் யதார்த்தமாகத் தன் நிலையைச்
சொன்னார்.

அப்போது மகாப் பெரியவாள், “இந்த வளையல்
வியாபாரியின் பாரத்தை இன்று நாம்தான் ஏற்றுக்
கொள்ள வேண்டும்” என்று சொன்னவர்,அதற்கேற்ற
விளக்கமும் தந்தார்.

“இன்று வெள்ளிக்கிழமை இவரிடம் இருக்கும் எல்லா
வளையல்களையும் மொத்தமாக வாங்கி, மடத்துக்கு
வரும் எல்லா சுமங்கலிகளுக்கும் பெண் குழந்தைகளுக்கும்
கொடுத்தால் புண்ணியம். இந்த ஏழையிடமிருந்து வாங்கி
அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுப்பது விசேஷமல்லவா? இந்தப்
புண்ணிய கைங்கர்யத்துக்கு அளவு கோலே கிடையாது!”
என்று சொன்னவர், ஒரு பக்தர் மூலம் வளையல்
எல்லாவற்றையும் வாங்கச் சொன்னார்.

பிறகு அதில் ஒரு டஜன் வளையலை எடுத்து
வளையல்காரரிடமே கொடுக்கச் சொல்லுகிறார்.
அதற்கு காரணமும் சொல்கிறார்.

வெள்ளிக்கிழமையில் வளையல் பெட்டி காலியாக
இருக்கவே கூடாது.அந்த வளையல்களை அவன்
வீட்டுக்கு எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போகட்டும்.

பிறகு வளையல்காரருக்கு மடத்தின் மூலமாக வேஷ்டி,
புடவைகளைக் கொடுத்து அவருக்கு சாப்பாடும் போட்டு
அனுப்பும்படி மகான் உத்தரவு போட்டார்.

இன்னொன்றும் சொன்னார்.

“இன்று அவனுக்கு தலைபாரமும்,மனபாரமும் நிச்சயம்
குறைந்திருக்கும் இல்லையா?”

தன்னை நாடி வருபவர்களுக்கு அவர்கள் எதிர்பாராத
விதமாக உதவியைச் செய்து விடுகிறார் மகான் என்று
அங்கிருந்த பக்தர்கள் போற்றிப் புகழ்ந்தனர்.

அன்று மடத்திற்கு வந்த அவ்வளவு சுமங்கலிப் பெண்களுக்கும்
வளையல்கள் வழங்கப்பட்டன. அதுவும் மகானின் கையால்
தொட்டுக் கொடுத்த வளையல்கள். அந்த பாக்கியம்
எல்லோருக்கும் கொடுத்து வைத்து இருக்க வேண்டுமே!

” Why do people wrangle saying that one Deity is superior to the rest that the Deity whom they worship alone is the highest ? A bridge across a river has a number of arches . To a man standing under one arch , all other arches will appear smaller than the one he stands under.

This arch will appear to be the biggest to his eyes. Even so, to a votary of a particular deity , all other deities will appear inferior.
But the truth is that the deities are manifestation of ONE GOD . All arches are similarly constructed and have the same dimension and strength and power.”

Walking The Dawn…..

In the wee hours of morning
When the whole world is sleeping
HE walks on the deserted street
With few devotees following and
Chanting slokas
For the early morning bath
In the temple pond.

The Sun came out to see HIM
The air breezed to fan HIM
The trees shed their leaves to lay carpet for HIM
The flowers blossomed to welcome HIM
The birds tweeted to greet HIM
The people woke up to bow to HIM.

Mahaperiavaa and Bharata Sastra….

As narrated by Dr.Kalyanaraman, Neuro Surgeon …..

A very moving incident was narrated to me by a PhD student. The candidate had gone for darshan.

His Holiness: “What are you doing at present”?

Candidate: “I am writing a PhD thesis on Bharata Sastra”

His Holiness: Have you completed it?

Candidate: “I have finished more than half, but the work could not proceed further due to some problems”.

His Holiness: “What is the problem?’’

Candidate: I am trying to trace the origin and development of various aspects of Bharata Natya with evidence from literature, music, sculptures and the Sastras. I am not to get the evidence required for about three centuries in the beginning of the millennium, although I have collected the evidence for the earlier and later period. So the work is unfinished.

The candidate told me that MahaPeriyaval hardly appeared to be listening as He was giving prasadam and talking to visitors in-between the conversation. A few minutes later, He turned to the candidate again.

His Holiness: Have you been to Chidambaram?

Candidate: Yes, many times.

His Holiness: Have you visited the Nataraja temple?

Candidate: Yes, almost every time I visit the town, I go to the temple also.

His Holiness: “Do you go to Ambal’s sannadhi every time?”

Candidate: (Shame facedly) No, not always. Often I am in a hurry and have darshan of Lord Nataraja and return without having a darshan of Goddess Sivakami.

MahaPeriyaval did not reply and went on giving darshanam to visitors. The candidate took leave and returned home.

A few monthes later during a visit to Chidambaram the candidate visited the temple. Suddenly the memory of what MahaPeriyaval said, that Ambal’s sannadhi should also be visited came as a flash.

The candidate then told me. “As I entered the prakaram of Sivakami Amman I suddenly realized that all the sculptures in the four prakarams were the missing link for the evidence of three centuries for my PhD thesis. What I could not find out for several years, Maha Periyaval divined in a few seconds and gave me the lead. It took me several months even to understand that hint”.

The thesis was quickly completed and submitted to the university and the candidate was awarded the PhD degree, thereafter.

“On one occasion I went along with my doctor friend to a town in Maharashtra to have darshan of Maha Periyaval. We found that His Holiness had left the town three days earlier and was camping in the outskirts of the town near a small river in a mango grove. When we reached the camp, all facilities for the visiting devotees had been made in the grove.

The officials of the Mutt told me a very interesting anecdote of how His Holiness came to stay there.

As Maha Periyaval was staying in the centre of the town and performing pooja everyday, one elderly gentleman used to come and stand at the periphery of the crowd, watch the pooja and go away without coming near His Holiness. Maha Periyaval noted this and called him one day and asked him whether he wanted anything.

He replied. “I came to this place as a daily wage earner. Gradually I became Supervisor and then a small scale contractor. In course of time because of my prayers to you I became a big contractor and amassed a lot of money and bought a lot of property on the outskirts of the town. To my good fortune I heard you were coming to this town. I wanted to invite you to come to my place and place your feet in my house, but everyone here told me that since I belong to the scheduled caste, Maha Periyaval would not come to my house. Everyday I wanted to request you but could not muster enough courage to ask you directly, fearing I may get a refusal”.

His Holiness replied: “I have come to this town mainly to see you. Not only will I come to your house but the whole camp and pooja will be shifted to your place today. Periyaval stayed for ten days in that devotee’s house and mango grove, performed pooja and blessed him.”

Jaya Jaya Shankara, Hara Hara Shankara!

அம்பாளுக்கு முன்னால் நாம் ஒரு துரும்பு …மகாபெரியவா !!!

நாம் இதைச் சாதித்தோம், அதைச் சாதித்தோம் என்று அகம்பாவப்பட கொஞ்சம்கூட நியாயம் இல்லை. நாம் எதையும் சாதிப்பதற்கான புத்தியோ, தேக பலமோ எங்கிருந்து வந்தது?இந்த பிரபஞ்ச காரியங்கள் அனைத்தையும் செய்கிற ஒரு மஹா சக்தியிடமிருந்தே நம்முடைய, சக்தி எல்லாம் வந்திருக்கிறது. அது இல்லாவிட்டால் நம்மிடம் ஒரு சுவாசம்கூட இருக்கமுடியுமா. ஒருநாள், இதனை சாதித்ததாக எண்ணிக் கர்வப்படுகிற நம்மைவிட்டுச் சுவாசம் போய் விடுகிறது. அதைப் பிடித்து வைத்துக் கொள்கிற சாமர்த்தியம் நமக்குக் கொஞ்சம்கூட இல்லை. அப்போது நம் சக்தி எல்லாமும் சொப்பனம் மாதிரிப் போய்விடுகிறது. கொஞ்சம் யோசித்துப் பார்த்தாலும்கூட, சக்தி சமுத்திரமாக இருக்கப்பட்ட அம்பாளின் ஒரு சிறு துளி அநுக்கிரகத்திலேயே நடக்கிற காரியங்களை, நம்முடையதாக நினைத்து அகம்பாவப்படுவது அசட்டுத் தனம்தான் என்று தெரியும். எத்தனைக்கெத்தனை இந்த அநுபவத்தில் தெரிந்துகொண்டு அம்பாளுக்கு முன் ஒரு துரும்பு மாதிரி அடங்கிக் கிடக்கிறோமோ அத்தனைக்கத்தனை அவள் அநுக்கிரஹமும் நமக்குக் கிடைக்கும்.
நாம் நன்றாக எழுதுகிறோம், பேசுகிறோம், பாடுகிறோம், வேறு ஏதோ காரியம் செய்கிறோம் என்று உலகம் புகழ் மாலை போடுகிறது. அதே சமயத்தில் நமக்குத் தலைகனம் ஏறத்தான் தொடங்கும். அப்போது நமக்குச் சக்தி உண்டா என்று யோசிக்க வேண்டும். எந்த இடத்திலிருந்து நம் சக்தி வந்ததோ, அந்த அம்பாள் இருக்க, புகழுக்குப் பாத்திரராகி அகம்பாவப்பட நமக்குக் கொஞ்சம்கூட உரிமையில்லை என்று உணர வேண்டும். வருகிற பெருமையை எல்லாம் அவற்றுக் குறிய பராசக்தியின் பாதாரவிந்தங்களிலேயே அர்ப்பணம் செய்துவிட வேண்டும். பெருமைப் பூரிப்பில் இருப்பதைவிட, இப்படி அர்ப்பணம் பண்ணிப் பாரம் இல்லாமல் லேசாக ஆவதுதான் நமக்கே பரம சௌக்கியமாக இருக்கும். நமக்கு அகம்பாவமே இல்லை என்கிற எண்ணம் வந்து அதில் ஒரு பூரிப்பு உண்டாகிவிட்டால், அதுவும்கூட அகம்பாவம்தான். எனவே அகம்பாவம் தலை தூக்க இடமே தராமல் சர்வ ஜாக்கிரதையாக இருக்க வேண்டும். எத்தனை கண்குத்திப் பாம்பாக இருந்தாலும், துளி இடுக்குக் கிடைத்தால்கூட ஏதோ ஒரு ரூபத்தில் நமக்கே தெரியாமல் அஹம்பாவம் உள்ளே புகுந்து விடும். இது போகவும் அவள் அருள்தான் வழி. அவளேயே வேண்டி நம் புகழையெல்லாம் அவளுக்கு அர்ப்பணம் பண்ணிவிட்டால், நமக்கு ஒரு குறைவுமில்லாமல் மேலும் மேலும் அவள் அநுக்கிரஹம் கிடைக்கும்.
