Later after many twists and turns and ups and downs the same crazy five gang created a social networking revolution website that is popularly known as Facebook today.

>Before opening Facebook it was planned by the team to open a social networking site for high school students called facebookhigh.com. But this idea bombed very badly..

Steve expected Mark to do the presentation but instead Mark has sent a marketing manager and an engineer to do the job.Upset with their bad audition Steve Jobs had to cancel the presentation that year.

>In 2005,many of the employees and Mark Zuckerberg’ colleagues at Facebook strongly felt that “Zuck” should be replaced by a better person as their CEO. It is then that he took some serious ” CEO lessons ” from an authority on the topic.

>A Taiwanese guy by name Steve Chen worked for a few weeks with Facebook in 2005 and left it as he wanted to start something of his own. But that time this guy never knew that his decision will create a technological revolution in the digital age. This 27 year old ex PayPal employee joined hands with his other PayPal colleagues Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim and founded the path breaking site that is more popularly known as You Tube today.

But it was finally bagged by Sheryl Sandberg who was formerly vice president of Global Online Operations and Sales at Google Inc. Sheryl is one of the active directors on the Facebook board today. Period.

>Accel partner Jim Breyer invested $12.7 million in Facebook in 2005. After this investment from Jim Breyer, the initial founders of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, Sean Parker and Dustin Moscovitz took a million dollar bonus each.

>After being arrested on cocaine related charges in North Carolina, Sean Parker, the co-founder and the then president of Facebook was sent out by Accel Partners who were the principal share holders in Facebook those days.

>With an estimated value of $18.7 million there is also an Indian share holder in Facebook by name Divya Narendra. Though he holds only .022 percent stake in Facebook today, he is already worth the above mentioned figure with that miniature stake. On some copyright issue he waged a prolonged legal battle with Facebook which, as he claims, helped him pursue a career in jurisprudence.

Mark Zuckerberg Kissing His Future Wife Wife Priscilla Chan In Front Of Oprah Winfrey Camera Crew In 2010
>Mark Zuckerberg met his future wife Priscilla Chan, a Chinese, in Harvard University. Before their marriage they lived together in a sparsely furnished rented home in Palo Alto, California. In 2010, when Oprah Winfrey decided to do a talk show with Zuck he allowed her entire crew with cameras into his house. Mark Zuckerberg kissed his then girl friend Priscilla Chan in front of all the giggling crew that day. That time he revealed to the crew that he practices Chinese language every morning at the kitchen table as part of his preparation for his future Honeymoon in China. Period.

>Initially Mark Zuckerberg was not in favor of adding photo sharing feature to Facebook but Sean Parker convinced “Zuck” about it and photo sharing is the most popular feature on Facebook today. Cartoon Cat was the first photo uploaded to Facebook followed by photos of socializing girls.

>Caterina Fake, the co founder of Flickr and Hunch could not open a Facebook account because of the word “Fake” in her last name. Facebook thought it’s a fake name and refused to allow her to create an account.

>Facebook can never come to any understanding with Google anytime in future for any form of acquisition or for any other business understanding since Microsoft, a major partner in Facebook since 2007, will not allow it’s arch rival Google to have any say whatsoever in any of the affairs of Facebook. It’s an irrevocable unwritten understanding between Facebook and Microsoft with which Google shall forever be unhappy. In an effort to break the supremacy of Facebook in social network market Google created Google+ and you all know how it is faring today.

>Finally, according to Facebook’s co-founder Dustin Moscovitz, Facebook is planning to come up with an ad network in future just on the lines of their revolutionary social networking site called facebook.com

Conclusion

According to a recent study (July,2012) conducted by the The University Of Wisconsin School Of Medicine And Public Health, Facebook, as is believed by many, doesn’t cause depression. The study further suggests that it is unnecessarily alarming to advise the parents or patients about the risk of “Facebook Depression” which, many critics feel, is caused by the excessive usage of this popular social networking site. The study also found that 70% of Facebook users today are adolescents..

A Small True Story ….Problem With Whom !!!!

It’s A Small Story But A Very Cute Story

Some where in midtown Mumbai there is a posh locality meant for the living of only aristocratic families. It’s perhaps the only locality in the most popular city of India where there are many independent houses and a very few apartment buildings. Meridian Towers is one such apartment complex in that locality that houses the families of the rich and famous personalities of Mumbai.

And it is in these apartments that our beloved Ramakanth Joglekar and his wife Bhavana Joglekar are living. It is not important here to know what Ramakanth and Bhavana do for their living but it is important to know what made them the central point of this story.

Ramakanth is about sixty years of age and Bhavana about fifty seven. They do everything to make their lives happy and it is again irrelevant here to know more about their other family members because it is only the cute couple of Ramakanth and Bhavana that live in that posh five bed room apartment where our story is taking place.

Ramakanth and Bhavana have a very long and successful love marriage that is about thirty five years old now.Their love story may not be as intense as Sohni-Mahiwal or Shajahan and Mumtaz but they strongly believe that they have a better and more powerful love story to narrate to the world if only the world is willing to pay some attention to them.

They still spend a lot of time together and still believe in squeezing maximum juices out of life. With a wide collection of world’s most popular and rich varieties of Red Wine, the lovely middle aged couple of Ramakanth and Bhavana take pride in throwing lavish parties to their other aristocratic friends, often.

Life is on a song for the lovely couple until Ramakanth gradually started noticing a problem in his wife that really kept bothering him a lot .However, his abundant love for his wife did not allow him to discuss it with her.But at the same time he cannot remain ignorant of the problem and some how wants his wife to overcome that problem at the earliest. He had spent many sleepless nights unable to know what to do.

Then one fine morning Ramakanth personally visited Dr.Jayavanth Divakar,an ENT Surgeon practicing in Linking Road,Santa Cruz, Mumbai.

He told the doctor..”Doc, I have a doubt for the last couple of months that my wife is going deaf day by day.But I cannot discuss the problem with her as it may be very embarrassing for her to accept it..So what do you want me to do..Please help..”

Doctor smiled and said “It’s only your doubt that she is developing deafness but you are not sure that she is deaf..So conduct a small test..When she is working in the kitchen tomorrow ask her a question “What curry are you cooking for lunch today”.. First you stand at a thirty feet distance from her and put this question in a low tone.. Then reduce the distance by five feet and move slightly closer to her and put the same question from twenty five feet distance and then from twenty feet distance and so on..Like that keep decreasing five feet every time and repeat the question..Remember,the tone when you put the question should be in normal conversational level and not more than that..Let me know at what distance you got the reply from her and then we will be able to know how severe her deafness is and what line of treatment should be adopted..Don’t worry I will take care of it..”

Next morning Bhavana was busy in the kitchen preparing food items for the day.Ramakanth thought “it’s the right time to perform the test on her.”

He went into their master bed room;stood in the utmost corner of the room which is more than thirty feet from Bhavana and asked her in a normal tone.. “Sweetheart, what’s cooking up for lunch..”..

No reply from Bhavana..

A shocked Ramakanth reduced the distance and put the same question from about twenty five feet now..No reply again as Bhavana was busy frying something on the pan..

A heart broken Ramakanth repeated the question from twenty feet and then from fifteen feet and again from ten feet but was not getting any reply from his beloved wife.Without even lifting her head she was busy with her cooking operation.

Finally Ramakanth, who is now almost in tears for his beloved wife, moved very close to her and asked the same question from less than a five feet distance “Sweetheart, what’s cooking up for lunch..”..

Watching her beloved husband standing almost next to her Bhavana turned to him and said “It’s Deep Onion Fried Chicken curry Sweetheart..But why are you asking the same question so many times..First you asked me from the corner of our bed room “Sweetheart, what’s cooking up for lunch..”..I said ” Deep Onion Fried Chicken curry..”..Then you came to our wardrobe and asked the same question and again I replied..Then you repeated the same question standing near our double cot, then from our dressing table, then standing at the entrance of our bedroom and then from our dining table and now finally standing so close to me you are asking the same question “Sweetheart what’s cooking up for lunch..”..”It’s your favorite Deep Onion Fried Chicken Curry sweetheart, but now tell me what’s wrong with you..Why are you acting so funny..Why are asking the same question so many times..Is everything fine with you or is there any problem..Why don’t you get checked up once..There is a very good ENT specialist by name Dr.Jayavanth Divakar in Linking Road,Santa Cruz..His wife is my childhood friend..Shall I take his appointment tomorrow..You are sixty sweetheart and therez nothing wrong in getting checked up once..”

Conclusion

Am not sure about the origin of this story but am given to understand that it’s a true story.I have only reported what I have read half a decade ago hence cannot claim originality or ownership to this story.

7 Ways Money Can Buy Happiness !!!!!

source :::siliconindia net

Natarajan

You may wonder ‘how money can buy a little happiness’ as it is not something which is sold in the market. Of course what you are thinking is right but at the same time you cannot ignore the fact that money can buy many things which make you happy. Different people hold different notion about money, which influences the way they make use of their money. Now let’s look at the ways, by which money adds more fun and happiness in our lives, reports Investopedia.com

1. Time

‘Money can buy a wrist watch but not time’ are you the one who thinks in the same way. To some extent you are right but not completely. Just think once about the ways money can buy technologies which can help you to cut short the time you spend in your day to day work. Like a washing machine, dish washer, lawnmower and many more make some chores quicker and easier to perform. Money can also help you to save time by giving you the ability to hire a maid, landscaper or butler for doing chores and running errands. Hence, money can definitely buy time.

2. Achieving Goals

Today, the things which are available for free can easily be counted on your fingers but the things which money can buy are countless. Even for achieving your goals you need money. You may aim to become a doctor or a engineer or a lawyer or a MBA, but for studying any of these professional courses you need of lakhs of money. Even for training under the vocational courses like music, dance, fine arts you require money to pay your fees. Life is not just about living with serious ambitions but even for achieving softer goals like vacation trips or buying luxurious car. In many ways, money can help achieve goals and make you happy.

3. Financial Security

Financial security can only be achieved with sufficient finance, in other words with money. Financial security helps a man to keep financial worries at bay, and this helps him to live his life more happily than the one who is struggling without it. Laura Vanderkam, Author of “All the Money in the World: What the Happiest People Know About Getting and Spending,” says “satisfaction with life and consequently happiness amplifies with income”. This is possibly because when one has enough money, he or she won’t have to stress day and night about providing proper food for the family, or worry about a family member falling ill and not having adequate funds to pay for healthcare. When someone has sufficient money to take care of his priorities, it brings about bundles of joy.

4. Creates Opportunities

It is often said that the person who himself is happy can keep other have too. In the same way the person who has enough money can help someone in need of money. It could be your spouse, child or a close friend who needs money to fulfill his or her aims. Remember, the more money you have, the greater the opportunities we have to help others. As you know, money creates opportunities to help others as its gives you the ability to help them. Michael Norton, associate professor at the Harvard Business School, says it is far more rewarding in the long run if people use their money to aid others, instead of spending it only in fulfilling their individual needs.

5. Experiences

Vanderkam says that money can buy happiness if used wisely. When you buy too much of something, the pleasure which you get out it start diminishing. Rather use your money for creating an experience that can be shared. This, she says, would help the happiness grow three-fold. It grows through the anticipation, the experience and the happy memories each time you remember it. Money can provide you the capital required to enjoy lasting experiences like traveling around the world, scuba-diving, paragliding and trying some of the most watering meals in the 5 star restaurants. Money can buy a ton of wonderful experiences which you can cherish lifelong.

6. Social Standing

In today’s materialistic world money plays an important role in building social status and earning popularity. There is an age old saying that ‘Adversity Test Friends and Prosperity Gains Friends’. It’s true that our socio-economic status are determined largely by the amount of money we have. There is certainly no fun to be poor and it doesn’t hurt to be rich. For most of us who fall in the varying shades of the middle class income group, it is money that puts us there more than our ethnic and educational backgrounds. If it didn’t, then we would have also participated in the proud discussions about how much we earn.

7. Enabler

Keeping aside the extravagant life and appearance in page 3 of some streaming sections of magazines and tabloid newspaper which comes usually comes with money; you can also aim for attaining eternal peace by donating your money for a charitable cause. Some philanthropists like Azim Premji are working towards building better healthcare and education systems. This year he made a grand donation of $1.3 billion. According to psychologist Martin Seligman, humans find happiness by enabling greater opportunities for many others who need a helping hand, which gives them a great sense of triumph.

God Is Our Pilot … We are Safe In HIS Hands …

The Pilot.

A priest was on a long flight home after a Church Conference.

The first warning of approaching problems came when the
‘Fasten Your Seat Belts’ sign flashed on.
After a while a calm voice said,
“We shall not be serving beverages at this time as we are expecting a little turbulence.
Please make sure your seat belt is fastened.”

The priest looked around the aircraft and saw that many of the passengers were becoming apprehensive.
Later, the voice on the intercom said,
“We are so sorry that we are unable to serve meals at this time…
The turbulence is still ahead of us.”

And then the storm broke.
The ominous cracks of thunder could be heard even above the roar of the engines.
Lightning lit up the darkening skies, and within moments that great plane was tossed around like a cork in a celestial ocean.
One moment it was lifted on terrific currents of air, the next it fell as if about to crash.

As the priest looked around he could see that nearly
all the passengers were alarmed – except one little girl!

She sat calmly, feet tucked under her, looking at pictures in a book, oblivious of the turbulence around her.
Sometimes she would close her eyes, and then she would go back to her book.

The storm blew over.
When the plane landed and the passengers were disembarking,
the priest approached the little girl and asked her why she was not afraid like the other passengers.

The little girl replied,
“Cause my Daddy’s the pilot and he’s taking me home.”

There are many storms that buffet us…
Physical, mental, financial, domestic and other storms that can darken our skies and throw us into turmoil.

Like the little girl, let us always remember:

Our Father…. GOD… is the Pilot.
He is in complete control… He will take us Home… Don’t worry!

NASA, the national space agency of the US, on Thursday released a black and white satellite imagery of India Diwali night 2012, cautioning people against the fake image in circulation on the social media.

“On November 12, 2012, the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the Suomi NPP satellite captured this night-time view of southern Asia,” NASA said releasing a picture of India on this Diwali night.

“The image is based on data collected by the VIIRS ‘day- night band’, which detects light in a range of wavelengths from green to near-infrared. The image has been brightened to make the city lights easier to distinguish,” it said.

NASA said most of the bright areas in the imagery released by it are cities and towns in India. “India is home to more than 1.2 billion people and has 30 cities with populations over 1 million,” it said.

Cities in Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan are also visible near the edges of the image.

“An image that claims to show the region lit for Diwali has been circulating on social media websites and the Internet in recent years. In fact, it does not show what it claims.

That image, based on data from the Operational Linescan System flown on US Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) satellites, is a colour—composite created in 2003 by NOAA scientist Chris Elvidge to highlight population growth over time,” NASA said.

“In that image, white areas show city lights that were visible prior to 1992, while blue, green, and red shades indicate city lights that became visible in 1992, 1998, and 2003 respectively,” it said.

“In reality, any extra light produced during Diwali is so subtle that it is likely imperceptible when observed from space,” NASA said.

Cheerful People Are Like Sunlight !!!!

source:::: message from one of the devotees of SAI….

Natarajan

Mother Nature

When you have a Passion and a Reason to do something,
You’ll surely have what you want… It may seem hard or even impossible, but if you have a Strong Enough Reason to do Something, You’ll be able to tap in your Inner God-given Potential!

Cheerful people are like Sunlight.
They shine in to the corners of the heart &
offer bright mornings & fresh hopes.
Good Morning to one such person!!!

Never let life’s hardships disturb you.
After all, no one can avoid problems, not even saints or gods.”

If it stops with you, then the blessing will disappear. The blessing will only keep working if it is continuously passed around. If you are a recipient of a blessing, keeps the blessing working by being the source of blessing to other people.

Never be sad for missing
Whatever you expected… but be happy
Because God has planned to give another one
Better than what you expected
Think.

No one is born happy…
But all of us are born with the ability to create happiness…
So today, make others happy…
Flash your sweetest smile…

No Fast Food at Our Times !!!… Only Slow Food !!!!

source:::: input from my brother who is younger to me ….a true reflection of good old days !!!!!
Natarajan

If you grew up in a generation before there was fast food, you may want to share some of these memories with your children or grandchildren. Just don’t blame me if they bust a gut laughing.

Growing up isn’t what it used to be, is it?

Someone asked the other day, ‘What was your favourite ‘fast food’ when you were growing up?’
‘We didn’t have fast food when I was growing up,’ I informed him.
‘All the food was slow.’
‘C’mon, seriously.. Where did you eat?’
‘It was a place called ‘home,” I explained. !
‘Mum cooked every day and when Dad got home from work, we sat down together at the dining room table, and if I didn’t like what she put on my plate, I was allowed to sit there until I did like it.’

By this time, the lad was laughing so hard I was afraid he was going to suffer serious internal damage, so I didn’t tell him the part about how I had to have permission to leave the table.

But here are some other things I would have told him about my childhood if I’d figured his system could have handled it:

Some parents NEVER owned their own house, wore jeans, set foot on a golf course, travelled out of the country or had a credit card.

My parents never drove me to school… I had a bicycle that weighed probably 50 pounds, and only had one speed (slow)..

We didn’t have a television in our house until I was 15!!!!
It was, of course, black and white, and the station went off the air at 10 PM, after playing the national anthem and epilogue; it came back on the air at about 6 am. And there was usually a locally produced news and farm show on, featuring local people….

Pizzas were not delivered to our home… But milk was.

How many do you remember?
Headlight dip-switches on the floor of the car.
Ignition switches on the dashboard.
Trouser leg clips for bicycles without chain guards.
Soldering irons you heated on a gas burner.
Using hand signals for cars without turn indicators.

Older Than Dirt Quiz:
Count all the ones that you remember, not the ones you were told about.. Ratings at the bottom

1. Sweet cigarettes
2. Coffee shops with juke boxes
3 . Home milk delivery in glass bottles
4. Party lines on the telephone
5. Newsreels before the movie
6. TV test patterns that came on at night after the last show and were there until TV shows started again in the morning.
(There were only 2 channels [if you were fortunate])
7. Peashooters
8. 33 rpm records
9. 45 RPM records
10. Hi-fi’s
11. Metal ice trays with levers
12. Blue flashbulb
13. Cork popguns
14. Wash tub wringers

If you remembered 0-3 = You’re still young
If you remembered 3-6 = You are getting older
If you remembered 7-10 = Don’t tell your age
If you remembered 11-14 = You’re positively ancient!

I must be ‘positively ancient’ but those memories are some of the best parts of my life. I am sure People of my age group will tend to agree with my views …
