The Other Side …Perspective ….

A man went out for a walk.

He came to a river and saw a woman on the opposite bank.

“Yoo-hoo,” he shouted, “how can I get to the other side?”

The woman looked up the river then down the river then shouted
back,

“You’re already on the other side.”
Life and truth is often a matter of perspective and viewpoint.

I thought about that issue for a good part of the day.
It was short and somewhat funny but extremely profound.

Do you realize how many people are trying to get to the very
side that you are already on while you are trying to get
somewhere else?

Do you know how many people wish they had a good husband or
wife like you do?

Do you realize how many couples wish they could have children
like you do?

Do you know how many suffering people wish they had a pain free
body like you do?

Do you know how many people wish they just had enough money to
pay their basic bills like you do?

Do you realize how many people wish they could get to the weight
that you are already at?

Do you realize how many people wish they had a job like you do?

Do you realize how many people wish they could see like you can?

…could hear like you can?

…could walk like you can?

I, like most of you reading this, wish for many things.
I have a lot of dreams and visions.

“Perspective” really made me think and realize
that with so many of the rivers of life,

I’m already on the “other” side.

So are you !!!!!!

Practice is the real thing that matters in spirituality. Scholarship is a burden, many times a handicap even. So long as God is believed to be far away, in temples and holy places, one will feel religion a burden and a hurdle. But instal Him in your heart and you feel light, burdenless and even strong. It is like the food basket – when carried on a shoulder, it feels heavy. You are too weak, even to carry it. But sit near a stream and eat your food from the basket – though the food weight has not decreased, you feel stronger and joyful. That is the consequence of taking the food in. Do likewise, with the idea of God. Do not carry it on the shoulder, take it ‘in’! The scriptures teach, “God is verily the Life-breath, of every soul.” So practise to live in His Glory, in His Memory, in His contemplation, every single moment of your life.

True devotion really means installing the Divine in the heart and enjoying the bliss of that experience. – Baba

பகவான் ஸ்ரீ ரமண மகரிஷியின் அமுத மொழிகள் …

இன்று ஆருத்ரா தரிசன நன்னாள். இதே நன்னாளில் தான் இன்றைக்கு 133 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னால் பகவான் ரமணர், மதுரையை அடுத்த திருச்சுழியில் அவதரித்தார். திருவாதிரையை அடுத்த புனர்பூச நட்சத்திரத்தில் அவர் ஜனனம் நிகழ்ந்தது. பிரசவத்தின் போது ஒரு பார்வையற்ற கிழவி உடனிருந்தாள். அவர் ரமண அருட் குழந்தையாக அவதரித்த அச்சமயத்தில் ஒரு சில கணங்கள் மட்டும் “பேரொளி”யை தரிசிக்கும் பாக்யம் பெற்றாள். அப்பேரொளி பின்னர் அருணாசலத்தை நாடி வந்து, அங்கேயே வாழ்ந்து, அதனுடனேயே இறுதியில் இரண்டறக் கலந்தது.

அந்த ரமண ஒளி அவதரித்த இந்த நன்னாளில் அவரது அருண்மொழிகள் சிலவற்றை அவரது மொழியிலேயே நினைவு கூர்வோம்.

கே: ஸர்வவியாபியான ஈசுவரனைக் காண்பதெப்படி?

ப: கடவுளைக் காண்பதென்பது கடவுளாயிருப்பதே. வியாபித்தற்கு அவருக்கு அன்னியமாக ‘எல்லாம்’ என்பது இல்லை. அவரே இருக்கிறார்.

கே: நான் சரணாகதி அடைந்தால் ஈசுவரனை வேண்டுதல் தேவையில்லையா?

ப: சரணாகதியே மகத்தான பிரார்த்தனை.

கே: ஆனால் சரண்புகு முன் அவரது தன்மை இன்னதென்று அறிய வேண்டாமா?

ப: நீ விரும்புவதையெல்லாம் ஈசன் உனக்காகச் செய்வாரென்று நம்பினால், நீ உன்னை அவரிடம் ஒப்புக் கொடுத்து விடு. இல்லாவிட்டால் அவரைச் சும்மா விட்டு விடு.

கே: யோகிக்குப் பூர்வஜன்மமெல்லாம் தெரியுமா?

ப: இந்த ஜன்மத்தைப் பற்றி முதலில் உனக்குத் தெரியுமா? பூர்வஜன்மமெல்லாம் தெரியவேண்டுமென்கிறாயே! இந்த ஜன்மத்தைப் பற்றிய உண்மையை இப்பொழுது தெரிந்துகொள்; மற்ற ஜன்மங்களைப் பற்றிய உண்மையெல்லாம் தானே தெரியும். இப்போதுள்ள இச்சிற்றறிவை வைத்துக் கொண்டே இவ்வளவு கஷ்டப்படுகிறாய். இன்னும் அதிக அறிவை மனத்தில் ஏற்றிக் கொள்வானேன்! இன்னும் அதிகக் கஷ்டப்படவா?

கே: படித்தவனுக்குக் குருகிருபை தேவையில்லாததால் அவன் ஞானோதயத்துக்கு விசேஷ யோக்கியதையுடையவனல்லவா?

ப: படிப்பற்ற ஞானியின்முன் பண்டிதனும் பணிய வேண்டியதுதான். எழுத்து வாசனையில்லாதது அறிவின்மைதான். படிப்போ, கற்றும் அறிவின்மை. இரண்டு பேரும் உண்மை லக்ஷியத்தை அறிந்தவரல்லர். வேறோர் விதத்தில் ஞானியும் அறியாதவனே; ஏனென்றால் அவனுக்கு ஒரு லக்ஷியமுமில்லை.

கே: ஆத்ம ஞானமடையக் குரு உதவி செய்வாரா?

ப: குரு உன் கையைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு காதில் ஓதுவாரா? நீ எப்படி இருக்கிறாயோ அப்படியே அவரும் இருப்பதாக நீ எண்ணிக் கொள்ளலாம். உனக்கு உடம்பிருப்பதனால் அவருக்கும் உடம்பிருக்கிறதென்றும் உனக்கு அவர் ஏதோ பிரத்தியக்ஷ அனுகூலம் செய்வாரென்றும் நீ கருதுகிறாய். ஆனால் அவர் வேலை அந்தரங்கத்தில் ஆத்ம சம்பந்தமானது.

Message For the Day….Invoke the Grace of GOD….

The body is a house, given to you for rent. The owner is God. Live there, so long as He wills, thanking Him for it, and paying Him the rent of Faith and Devotion. A strong will is the best tonic you can intake; the will becomes strong when you know that you are a child of immortality or a person who has earned the Grace of the Lord. In the epic Mahabharatha, the Pandavas are wonderful shining examples of faith and devotion. They won the Grace of the Lord and successfully defeated every single one of the wily strategy of their foes. The reinforcement of Grace from the Lord is the most reliable means of support. When you win the Grace of Lord, dishonour, defeat and despair fade away like fog evaporates before the Sun. Even disease cannot touch you. Hence, I advise you to face life by strengthening your spiritual urges and invoking the Grace of the Lord.

Consider all your acts as worship. Duty is God, Work is Worship. Whatever happens, accept it gladly as His handiwork, a sign of His compassion.

GOT TO LOVE THIS COP

A police motorcycle cop stops a driver for running a red light. The driver is a real jerk, steps out of his car and comes striding toward the officer,
demanding to know why he is being harassed by the Gestapo!

So the officer calmly tells him of the red light violation. The motorist instantly goes on a tirade, questioning the officer’s ancestry, uniform,
orientation, etc., in rather explicit offensive terms.

The tirade goes on without the officer saying anything.

When the officer finishes writing the ticket he puts an “AS” in the lower right corner of the narrative portion of the ticket. He then hands it to the ‘violator’ for his signature. The guy signs the ticket angrily, and when presented with his copy points to the “AS” and demands to know what it stands for.

The officer says, “That’s so when we go to court, I’ll remember that you’re an AGGRESIVE and Stupid!!!!

Two months later they’re in court. The ‘violator’ has a bad driving record and he is in danger of losing his license, so he hired a lawyer to represent him.

On the stand the officer testifies to seeing the man run the red light.

Under cross examination the defense attorney asks, “Officer is this a reasonable facsimile of the ticket that you issued to my client?”

Officer responds, “Yes, sir, that is the defendant’s copy, his signature and mine, same number at the top.”

Lawyer: “Officer, is there any particular marking or notation on this ticket you don’t normally make?”

“Yes, sir, in the lower right corner of the narrative there is an “AS”
underlined.”

“What does the “AS” stand for, officer?”

“Aggressive and Short tempered , Sir.”

“Aggressive and sort tempered !!!!

“Yes, Sir.”

“Officer, are you sure it doesn’t stand for Agressive AND Stupid ?

“Well, sir, you know your client better than I do.”

A millionaire who was bothered by severe eye pain and irritation consulted so many doctors and was getting his treatment done. He consumed heavy dosages of drugs and injections . But the ache persisted with great vigor. One day, a monk who was supposed to be an expert in treating such patients , was called by the millionaire. The monk understood the problem and said that for sometime , the millionaire patient should concentrate only on green color and not to see any other color than the green.

The millionaire got a group of painters and purchased barrels of green color paint and directed that every object , his eyes were likely to see , to be painted green !!!.

When , one day, the monk came to visit the millionaire, , servants of millionaire, ran with buckets of green paint and poured on the monk!!!.. , since the monk was in red dress!!!!

The monk laughed and said ” if only you had purchased a pair of green spectacles worth just a few Rupees , you could have saved these walls, trees, pots, and all other articles and also could have saved a large share of your fortune!!! You can not paint the whole world green !!!”

Moral….Let us change our vision and the world will appear accordingly…It is foolish to shape the world . Let us shape ourselves first. Let us change our vision…. Think simple and live simple….

ஒருமுறை ‘திருவாடனை
‘ என்னும் ஊரிலிருந்து பக்தர்கள் கூட்டம் பெரியவாளைத் தரிசிக்க வந்தது.
பெரியவர்கள் அன்று காஷ்ட மௌனம் இருந்தார். அதாவது, ஒரு சிறு சப்தம் கூட
எழுப்பாமல், முழுமையான மௌனத்தில் இருப்பார். வருடத்தில் ஒருநாள் அவர்
இப்படி காஷ்ட மௌனம் இருப்பது வழக்கம். முப்பது வருடங்களுக்கும் மேலாக
அவர் கடைப்பிடித்து வந்த வழக்கம் இது. ஒருமுறை, அன்றைய பாரதப் பிரதமர்
திருமதி இந்திராகாந்தி வந்த சமயத்தில்கூடப் பெரியவர் தம் மௌன விரதத்தை
விட்டுக் கொடுக்கவில்லை.

அன்றைக்குத் திருவாடனை ஊரிலிருந்து வந்திருந்த பக்தர் கூட்டத்தில்
சங்கரன் என்பவரும் இருந்தார். அவர் பிரிட்டிஷ் ஆட்சியின்போது தேச
விடுதலைக்காகப் போராடி, ஆங்கிலேயர்களிடம் தடியடி பட்டு, இரு கண்
பார்வையையும் இழந்தவர்.

மடத்துச் சிப்பந்தி ஒருவர், வந்திருந்த பக்தர் ஒவ்வொருவரையும்
பெரியவாளுக்கு அறிமுகம் செய்துவைக்க, பெரியவர் மௌனமாகவே ஆசி
வழங்கிக்கொண்டு இருந்தார்.

சங்கரன் முறை வந்தபோது, அவரையும் பெரியவருக்கு அறிமுகம் செய்தார்
மடத்துச் சிப்பந்தி. சங்கரனை பெரியவருக்கு ஏற்கெனவே தெரியும். சங்கரனைப்
பார்த்ததும் பெரியவர் உரத்த குரலில், “என்ன சங்கரா? எப்படி இருக்கே?
சௌக்கியமா? உன் மனைவியும் குழந்தைகளும் நன்னா இருக்காளா? இன்னும்கூட
உன்னால முடிஞ்ச வரைக்கும் தேசத் தொண்டு செஞ்சுண்டு இருக்கே போலிருக்கே?”
என்று கேட்டு, ஆசீர்வதித்தார்.

சங்கரனுக்கு ரொம்ப சந்தோஷம். அதே நேரம், மடத்து சிப்பந்திகளுக்கும்
மற்றவர்களுக்கும் பெரிய ஆச்சரியம்… முப்பது வருஷமாகக் கடைப்பிடித்து
வரும் மௌன விரதத்தை முறித்து விட்டாரே பெரியவர் என்று!

எல்லோரும் பிரசாதம் வாங்கிக்கொண்டு அங்கிருந்து அகன்ற பின்பு,
சிப்பந்திகள் தயங்கித் தயங்கிப் பெரியவரிடம் சென்று, “பெரியவா எதுக்காக
மௌன விரதத்தை முறிச்சுட்டீங்க? எல்லாருக்கும் மௌனமா ஆசி வழங்கினது போலவே
இந்தச் சங்கரனுக்கும் ஆசி வழங்கியிருக்கலாமே? இவர் என்ன அவ்வளவு பெரிய
ஆளா?” என்று கேட்டனர்.

பெரியவர் புன்னகைத்தபடியே, “எல்லாரையும் போல சங்கரனை நடத்தக் கூடாது.
இவனுக்குப் பாவம் கண் தெரியாது. என்னைப் பார்த்து ஆசி வாங்கணும்னு
அவ்வளவு தூரத்திலேர்ந்து வந்திருக்கான். அவனால் என்னைப் பார்க்க
முடியாது. நானும் மௌனமா ஆசீர்வாதம் பண்ணினேன்னா, அது அவனுக்குப் போய்ச்
சேராது. நான் அவனைப் பார்த்தேனா, ஆசீர்வாதம் பண்ணினேனான்னு அவனுக்குத்
தெரியாது. மனசுக்குக் குறையா இருக்கும். வருத்தப்படுவான். இந்தத்
தேசத்துக்காகத் தன் கண்களை தானம் செஞ்சவன் அவன். அவனுக்காக நான் என்
ஆசாரத்தை விட்டுக் கொடுத்தேன்னா ஒண்ணும் குடிமுழுகிப் போயிடாது. அதனால
எதுவும் குறைஞ்சுடாது. அவனோட தியாகத்துக்கு முன்னாடி என்னோட ஆசாரம்
ஒண்ணுமே இல்லே!” என்றார் நிதானமாக.
பெரியவர் வெறும் சாஸ்திர சம்பிரதாயங்களை மட்டும் வறட்டுப் பிடிவாதமாகப்
பிடித்துக்கொண்டு இருப்பவர் அல்ல; அதற்கும் மேலாக மனிதாபிமானத்தை, மனித
நேயத்தையே விரும்பியவர்; இந்த விஷயத்தில் மற்றவர்களுக்குத் தாமே ஒரு
வழிகாட்டியாகவும் திகழ்ந்தார் என்பதற்கு இந்த நிகழ்ச்சி ஓர் உதாரணம்!

காஞ்சிப் பெரியவர் ஜகத்குரு சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள் பற்றிச்
சமீபத்தில் எனக்குத் தெரிய வந்த சிலிர்ப்பூட்டும் தகவல்களை இங்கே
பகிர்ந்துகொள்ள விரும்புகிறேன். உண்மையிலேயே பெரியவர் பெரியவர்தான்!

நாற்பது ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன், காஞ்சிப் பெரியவரின் ஜன்ம தினத்தன்று அவரைச்
சந்தித்து ஆசி பெறுவதற்காக ‘கலவை’யில் எக்கச்சக்கக் கூட்டம்
திரண்டிருந்தது. அப்போது ஐம்பது வயது மதிக்கத்தக்க ஒரு நபர் தன்
மனைவியோடு, ஸ்வாமிகளின் தரிசனத்துக்காக முன் வரிசையில் காத்திருந்தார்.
அவர் கழுத்திலும், அவரின் மனைவியின் கழுத்திலும் காதிலும் தங்க நகைகள்
ஏராளம் மின்னின. அவர் ஒரு பெரிய தொழிலதிபர் என்பது பார்த்த
மாத்திரத்திலேயே புரிந்தது.

பெரியவர் தம் அறையிலிருந்து வெளிப்பட்டதும், முன்னால் இருந்த அந்தத்
தம்பதி மீதுதான் அவரது பார்வை விழுந்தது. அந்தத் தொழிலதிபரை, “எப்படி
இருக்கே?” என்று விசாரித்தார் பெரியவர்.

அதற்கு அந்தத் தொழிலதிபர், தான் செய்து வரும் தான தருமங்கள் பற்றியும்,
தொடர்ந்தாற்போல் நான்கு நாட்களுக்குத் தன் சொந்தச் செலவில் இலவசமாக ஏழை
பிராமணர்களுக்கு ‘சமஷ்டி உபநயனம்’ செய்து வைத்தது பற்றியும்
சொல்லிவிட்டு, அது தொடர்பான கையேடுகளைப் பெரியவரிடம் காண்பித்தார். அதை
வாங்கிப் பார்வையிட்ட பெரியவர், “சரி, இதுக்கெல்லாம் உனக்கு எவ்வளவு
செலவாச்சு?” என்று கேட்டார். தொழிலதிபர் பெருமிதம் தொனிக்கும் குரலில்,
“சில லட்ச ரூபாய்கள் ஆகியிருக்கும்” என்றார்.

பெரியவர் சிறிது நேரம் மௌனமாக இருந்தார். பின்னர், “அதிருக்கட்டும்…
திருநெல்வேலில தக்ஷிணாமூர்த்தின்னு ஒரு பையன் இருந்தானே, அவன் இப்போ
எப்படி இருக்கான்?” என்று சன்னமான குரலில் கேட்டுவிட்டுப் பதிலை
எதிர்பாராமல் நகர்ந்து போய்விட்டார்.

தொழிலபதிபர் அப்போது அடைந்த அதிர்ச்சிக்கு அளவே இல்லை. தன்னைக்
கட்டுப்படுத்திக்கொள்ள முடியாமல் குமுறிக் குமுறி அழத் தொடங்கிவிட்டார்.
அவர் மனைவி அவரைச் சமாதானப்படுத்த முயன்றும் முடியவில்லை. அதற்குள்
பத்திரிகையாளர்கள் சிலர் அங்கு கூடி, அவர் ஏன் அழுகிறார் என்று
விசாரித்தனர். அதற்கு அவர், “நான் அயோக்கியன்… அயோக்கியன்..!” என்று
திருப்பித் திருப்பிச் சொல்லிக்கொண்டு இருந்தார். அவரை ஒருவாறு
சமாதானப்படுத்தி விஷயத்தைக் கேட்டதற்கு அவர் சொன்னார்…

“எனக்கு ஒரு அக்கா உண்டு. அவள் கணவனை இழந்தவள். அவளுக்கு ஒரு பையன். அவன்
பெயர்தான் தக்ஷிணாமூர்த்தி. அவர்கள் இருவரும் என் வீட்டில்தான் தங்கி
வளர்ந்தார்கள். பின்னர் அக்கா காலமாகிவிட்டாள். அதன்பின் அந்தப் பையனை
என் வீட்டில் வைத்திருக்க விரும்பாமல், வீட்டை விட்டுத் துரத்தி
விட்டேன். அதன்பின் அவன் எங்கே போனான், என்ன ஆனான் என்று எனக்குத்
தெரியாது. ‘ஊருக்கெல்லாம் சமஷ்டி உபநயனம் செய்து வைப்பதாய் பெருமை
பேசுகிறாய். ஆனால், உன் சொந்தச் சகோதரி மகனை மறந்துவிட்டாய். நீ பெரிய
தர்மவானா?’ என்றுதான் பெரியவர் இப்போது என்னை மறைமுகமாகக் கேட்டார்.
உடனடியாக அந்தப் பையனைத் தேடிக் கண்டுபிடித்து, நல்ல முறையில் வளர்த்துப்
பெரியவனாக ஆக்க வேண்டியது என் பொறுப்பு!” என்றபடி தன் மனைவியுடன்
கிளம்பிச் சென்றார் அந்தத் தொழிலதிபர்.
