The queue of people waiting to lay their hands on the card seems to be getting longer and longer. Here’s a ready reckoner on how to get the card:

With the government making Aadhaar Card (unique identification card) mandatory in procuring LPG connections, issuing passports, sale or purchase of houses, opening a PF account or withdrawing your provident fund, opening a bank account, etc, the queue of people waiting to lay their hands on the card seems to be getting longer and longer.

Here’s a ready reckoner on how to get the card:

# Aadhaar card enrollment is free and you need to enroll only once as an individual is entitled for only one card.

# You can go to any authorized Aadhaar enrollment center anywhere in India with your identity and address proof.

# UIDAI process accepts Proof of Identity and 33 Proof of Address documents. Common proofs of identity and address are election photo ID card, Ration card, passport and driving license.

# Photo ID cards like PAN card and government ID cards are permissible for identity proof. Address proof documents also include water – electricity – telephone bills from the last three months.

# In case you do not have above mentioned proofs, certificate of identify having photo issued by Gazetted Officer/Tehsildar on letterhead is also accepted as proof of identity.

# Certificate of address having photo issued by MP or MLA /Gazetted Officer/Tehsildar on letterhead or by Village Panchayat head or its equivalent authority (for rural areas) is accepted as valid proof of address.

# If someone in your family does not have individual valid documents, the resident can still enrol if his/her name exists in family entitlement document.

# Where there are no documents available, residents may also take the help of ‘Introducers’ at the enrolment centre. The Introducers are notified by the registrar.

# At the enrollment center, your photo, finger-prints and iris scan will also be taken as a part of the enrollment.

# You need to enrol only once. Enrolling again is a waste of your time as you will get only one Aadhaar number.

# Based on the information provided, your details will be verified and If the application is successful, an Aadhaar number will be generated and mailed to your address.

# The waiting time for Aadhaar may vary from 60-90 days after receipt of resident data packets.

# Click here for the list of documents that can be submitted as proof of identity and address.

# After enrolment, quality checks are done by the enrolment centre supervisors, followed by correction process (where required) and data packet consolidation.

# Subsequently, the Enrolment Agency sends the data to UIDAI data centre. The data undergoes various stages of screening and validations in CIDR. This ensures that the source of data is authenticated besides ensuring that no duplicate exists.

# Sample quality checks are done on demographic and biometric data collected from residents.

# Apart from that the operator/supervisor/introducer/enrolment agency and registrar, information in each packet is also validated. Only after passing the data quality checks and other validations, the packet goes for de-duplication and Aadhaar gets generated.

# In case of any errors, the packet goes on hold. For example, if the particulars of the operator who enrolled the resident are found to be inconsistent with database or there is a mismatch observed in photo and age/gender (e.g. a child’s photo with age mentioned as 50 years), then the packet is held for further enquiry.

# Corrective actions are taken on such packets, wherever possible, else a rejection letter guiding resident to re-enroll is dispatched to the resident.

# India Post is entrusted with the responsibility of printing and delivery of Aadhaar letters. Depending on backlog for generation, location of delivery etc.

# India Post may ordinarily take 3-5 weeks to print and deliver Aadhaar letters to the residents.

Benefits of an Aadhar card

# The unique identification or Aadhaar project would result in saving of about Rs 110,000 crore by 2020 (around 58 per cent of expenditure of major public welfare schemes), a Planning Commission study released said.

# By providing a clear proof of identity, Aadhaar will empower the underprivileged residents in accessing services such as the formal banking system and give them the opportunity to easily avail various other services provided by the government and the private sector. காஞ்சி மகானின் கருணைக்கு எல்லையே இல்லை. தனது அத்யந்த பக்தர்கள் தன்னை எந்த நேரத்தில் அழைத்தாலும் அவர்களுக்கு அருளாசி வழங்காமல் இருந்ததே இல்லை.

திரு ராஜகோபாலின் மனைவி கீதா பலவருடங்களுக்கு முன்பு சென்னையில் வசித்துகொண்டிருந்& #2980; சமயம். மகானிடம் பெரும் பக்தி. அவருக்கு மட்டுமல்ல, அவரது குடும்பமே மகானை கண்கண்ட தெய்வமாக வணங்கி வந்தனர் .

ஒரு சமயம் கீதாவின் தந்தைக்கு உடல் நலம் சரியில்லை. எல்லா விதமான மருத்துவ சிகிச்சையும் கிடைக்கசெய்து மசியாத அந்த நோய் அவரை படுத்த படுக்கையாக்கி விட்டது.

மருத்துவ சிகிச்சை தொடர்ந்தாலும் கீதா மகானிடம் வேண்டாத நாளில்லை, இருப்பினும் தந்தையின் உடல் நாளுக்கு நாள் மோசமாகிகொண்டு வர, ஒரு நாள் அவர் மூச்சு விடவே மிகவும் சிரமப்பட்டார். அந்த நிலை நீடித்தால் சில மணி நேரங்களில் அவர் உயிர் பிரிய நேரும்.

பூஜை அறைக்கு போய் மகானின் படத்தின் முன் விழுந்து நமஸ்கரித்துவிட்டு ” இத்தனை நாளாக என் குறையை தீர்த்து வையுங்கள்” என்று கதறிக்கொண்டு இருக்கின்றேனே பெரியவா, உங்கள் காதில் விழவே இல்லையா, என்று கடைசியாக வாய் விட்டு கதறிய போது, வீட்டின் அழைப்பு மணி ஒலித்தது. அங்கே சென்று கதவை திறந்தபோது ” காஞ்சி மடத்தில் இருந்து வருகின்றோம், மகா பெரியவா இந்த பிரசாதத்தை உங்களன்ண்டே கொடுக்க சொன்னார்” என்றனர் வந்தவர்கள்.

காதில் விழவே இல்லையா என்ற குரல் கேட்காமலா இந்த பிரசாதங்களை அனுப்பி இருக்கின்றார்? கண்களில் நீர் பெருக கீதா அவசர அவசரமாக ஸ்ரீ மடத்தில் இருந்து வந்த தீர்த்தத்தை தந்தையின் வாயில் ஊற்ற, அவரது மூச்சு திணறல் நின்றது. அதன் பிறகு அவர் தந்தை நீண்டநாள் சுகமாக வாழ்ந்தார் என்பது தான் வியப்பிற்குரிய விஷயம்.

மகான் தன் பக்தர்களை பற்றி அல்லும் பகலும் நினைக்காமலா இருகின்றார்? “காதில் விழவில்லையா? என்று கேட்டவுடன் காலிங் பெல் சப்தம் கேட்டது எப்படி?

1930- 1980 வரை பிறந்த நம்மை போன்றவர்களை இந்த கால குழந்தைகள் அல்லது இந்த ஜெனரேஷன் மக்கள நம்மைபற்றி என்ன நினைத்தாலும் கேலி செய்தாலும் நாம் மிக மிக அதிர்ஷ்டகாரர்களே!!!!!

· தனி படுக்கையில் அல்ல!!! அம்மா அப்பாக்கூட படுத்து உறங்கியவர்கள் நாம் தான்!!!

· எந்த வித உணவுப் பொருட்களும் நமக்கு அலர்ஜியாக இருந்ததில்லை.

· கிச்சன் அலமாரிகளில் சைல்டு புருஃப் லாக் போட்டு இருந்ததில்லை.

· புத்தகங்களை சுமக்கும்பொதிமாடுகளா இருந்ததில்லை.

· சைக்கிள் ஒட்டும் போது ஹெல்மேட் மாட்டி ஒட்டி விளையாண்டது இல்லை.

· காலில் ஏதும் அணியாமல் இருந்து நாள் முழுவதும் சுற்றி வந்தாலும் காலுக்கு ஏதும் நேர்ந்ததில்லை.!!!!

· சிறு விளக்கு வெளிச்சத்தில் படித்து வந்தாலும் கண்ணாடி அணிந்ததில்லை!!!

· உடல் வலிமை பெறஊட்டசத்து பானங்கள்அருந்தியதில்லை .மிஞ்சிய சாதத்தில் ஊற்றி வைத்த நீரைச் சாப்பிட்டே உடல் வலிமை பெற்றவர்கள்!!!!

· எங்களுக்கு வேண்டிய வீளையாட்டு பொருட்களை நாங்களே உருவாக்கி விளையாடி மகிழ்வோம்!!!!

· எங்கள் பெற்றோர்கள் பண வசதி மிக்க லட்சாதிபதிகள் அல்ல!!!! ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் பணம் பணம் என்று அதன் பின்னால் ஒடுபவர்கள் அல்லர். அவர்கள் தேடுவதும் கொடுப்பதும் அன்பை மட்டுமே!!! பொருட்களை அல்ல!!!!

· அவர்கள் தொடர்பு கொள்ளும் அருகாமையில்தான் நாங்கள் இருந்து வந்தோம் அவர்கள் எங்களை தொடர்பு கொள்ள “ஏலேய்ய்ய்” என்ற ஒரு வார்த்தை போதுமானதாக இருந்தது. அதனால் தொடர்பு கொள்ள செல்போனை தேட அவசியமில்லை!!!!

· உடல் நலம் சரியில்லை என்றால் டாக்டர் வீடு தேடி வருவார் >>>டாக்டரை தேடி ஒடியதில்லை!!!!!

· எங்களது உணர்வுகளை போலியான உதட்டசைப்பினால் செல்போன் மூலம் பறிமாறவில்லை!!!!!

உள்ளத்தில் இருந்து வரும் உண்மைகளை எழுத்தில் கொட்டி கடிதமாக எழுதி தெரிவித்து வந்தோம். அதனால் சொன்ன சொல்லில் இருந்து என்றும் மாறியதில்லை.

· எங்களிடம் செல்போன் டிவிடி, ப்ளை ஸ்டேஷன், எக்ஸ்பாக்ஸ், வீடியோ கேம் பெர்சனல் கம்பியூட்டர், நெட், சாட் போன்றவகள் இல்.லை ஆனால் நிறைய நிஜமான நண்பர்கள் இருந்தனர்!!!!!

· வேண்டும் பொழுது நினைத்த நண்பர்கள் வீட்டிற்கு சென்று உணவுண்டு உரையாடி மகிழந்து வந்தோம். அவர்கள் வீட்டிற்கு போவதற்கு போனில் அனுமதி பெற தேவையில்லை!!!!!

· எங்கள் காலங்களில் திறமை மிக்க தலைவர்கள் இருந்தனர். அவர்கள் சமுகத்திற்காக தங்கள் செல்வங்களை செலவிட்டனர் இந்த காலம் போல சமுக செல்வங்களை கொள்ளை அடித்தவர்கள் அல்லர்!!!!!

· உறவுகள் அருகில் இருந்தது உள்ளம் நன்றாக இருந்ததால் உடல் நலம் காக்க இன்சூரன்ஸ் எடுத்தத்தில்லை

· நாங்கள் எடுத்த புகைபடங்கள் கருப்பு வெள்ளையாக இருந்தாலும் அதில் உள்ளவர்களிடம் வண்ணமயமான நல்ல எண்ணங்கள் இருப்பதை உணரலாம். ஆனால் இப்போது எடுக்கப்படும் படங்கள் கலராக இருக்கலாம் ஆனால் அதில் உள்ளவ்ர்களின் எண்ணங்கள் வெள்ளையா இல்லையா என்று சொல்ல முடியவில்லையே !!!!

· இலவசம் பெறும் பிச்சைகாரர்களாக இருந்ததில்லை!!!!!

· சொல்லுங்க நீங்க இப்போ …. அந்த பொன்னான காலங்களில் பிறந்து வளர்ந்த வந்த நாங்கள் அதிர்ஷ்ட சாலிகளா இல்லையா என்பதை !!!!!!!!!!!!

Know Your PAN Card Better….

The importance of Permanent Account Number (PAN) card has grown over the years, and it is today an essential part of our lives. The most important purpose of allotting PAN to an entity is for the purpose of identification and to track all the related monetary information of that entity. Initially, the significance of PAN was for filing income tax returns. Over time, PAN was used in dealings with the stock markets, banks and purchase of real estate and vehicles. Today, PAN has started finding use in unconventional areas as well, as follows:
• Bank Fixed Deposits: If you open a fixed deposit with your bank for an amount exceeding Rs. 50,000, a copy of PAN card needs to be given. In absence of PAN, the bank will deduct TDS of 20% or at the prevailing rate, whichever is higher (instead of the normal 10%). Further, the bank will not issue TDS certificate. Form 15G/15H and other exemption certificates will be invalid in this case.
• Payment in Hotels and Restaurants: You may asked to submit a copy of your PAN if you pay cash in hotels or restaurants against bills for an amount exceeding Rs. 25,000
• Payment to Travel Agents: Cash payment more than Rs. 25,000 for travel to any foreign country (fare or purchase of foreign currency) in a single payment requires you to produce your PAN copy
• Rental Agreements: Nowadays, landlords demand a copy of the PAN card of tenants, as the primary ID proof, while letting out their property.
• Jewellery shops: High-value purchase of jewellery in cash should be accompanied by a copy of the PAN card of the buyer, mainly as a means to curb black money usage.
Other usages of PAN include:
• Payment in Second Hand Car Dealings
• Installation of Telephone
• Visa Facilitation Centres
It is seen that quoting or producing a copy of your PAN card is compulsory in practically every money transaction, and not restricted to Income Tax dealings. The significance of PAN cannot be questioned as this has become the primary document sought in all important legitimate dealings.
Do NRIs require PAN Card?
As PAN is required for any financial transaction in India, an NRI will need to have a PAN card if he has an income in India and has to file returns, if he wishes to invest in India, when he carries out banking transactions, if he purchases real estate or for any transaction mentioned above.
Beware of PAN Frauds:
The increasing importance of PAN has increased the likeliness of PAN Card identity theft. The safeguarding of the physical copy of the PAN card no longer assures that your card is not being misused. As a majority of transactions demand a photocopy of your PAN card, or simply quoting the Permanent Account Number, it is very easy for your information to be misused for high ticket purchases or benami property transactions. A copy of your PAN card or simply its number can be quoted in transactions, which you are not even a part of.
Example of how your information can be misused: Recently, a consumer activist group revealed that the PAN card copy used in Railway ticket Tatkal bookings were misused by several jewellers. When an individual produces his PAN to book the Tatkal tickets, this information is fed in the Indian Railways system and also displayed on the ticket, reservation chart and train coaches. Unscrupulous jewellers steal this information from such public displays and use it to furnish tax collected details while they sell jewellery of very high value to high-net worth individuals who do not wish to produce their PAN.

If this happens to you?
When your PAN card is illegally used, you may not even be aware of this for atleast 6 months after the wrong transaction. You can check for such benami transactions by going through your Form 26AS, which is a consolidated statement of tax deducted, along with other details. If you are a non-tax paying PAN card holder, you may not even be able to check this form. The Income Tax department will require the PAN card holder to prove that the transaction was not carried out by him, and also give details on his source of funds. This becomes very difficult and time-consuming. As a PAN card holder, you should take care while disclosing your PAN details to anyone. You must hand over only signed photocopies and try to reduce using PAN in all casual transactions as ID proof.

Phonetic PAN (PPAN):
The phonetic PAN (PPAN) is a new concept introduced to prevent a single PAN being allotted to more than one assessee with same or similar names. When PAN is allotted, the PPAN of the assessee is compared with the PPANs of all the assessees to whom PAN has been allotted in the country. A warning is sounded off if a matching PPAN is detected. A duplicate PPAN report is then generated. A new PAN can be allotted only if the Assessing Officer overrides this duplicate PPAN detection.
Thus the PAN is a key document today and even takes predominance over your name as far as the tax authorities are concerned.

This is the latest in a series of measures India Post has taken to survive in a world of instant messaging, where a letter by post is a thing of the past.

CHENNAI: Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru are among the greats whose portraits are used as stamps by India Post. Now, your picture could also be a stamp on the letter you send to your dear one. India Post will introduce “the facility of converting personal photographs as legally valid stamps” in Chennai in a couple of weeks.

The personalised stamp will have two parts – the currency part and the photograph – detachable from each other. You can choose these backgrounds: zodiac signs, flowers, Taj Mahal, Panchatantra tales, trains, wildlife and aeroplanes. You may submit your photograph or get photographed at the post office for no extra cost. You get a set of 12 stamps of 5 denomination for 300, but only after police verification that may take one week.

This is the latest in a series of measures India Post has taken to survive in a world of instant messaging, where a letter by post is a thing of the past. This scheme, called ‘My stamp’, allows photographs to be printed on a five-rupee stamp.

The concept, which has been popular in the US, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, was launched in the country during the World Philatelic Exhibition in 2011 in Delhi. ‘My stamp’ was introduced in Maharashtra, Bihar, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, but not many know about it. In Chennai, select post offices will offer the facility in a fortnight.

While the idea of one’s own photograph as stamp has excited many, some feel it would take away the sanctity of a postal stamp.

“A stamp is something like legal tender. I think this move may take away that identity,” said S Ulaganathan, a shopkeeper who sends money orders to his home in Tirunelveli every month.

But the younger lot is happy. “It would be fun having my stamp on the cover of my birthday invite,” said 16-year-old R Vinay, who has never posted “snail mail”.

It is people like Vinay that India Post is targeting.

“The internet has taken away from people the habit of writing letters. We hope ‘My stamp’ will bring youngsters back to us,” said an India Post official.

“I would like to send a love letter with my stamp on the cover,” said a college student. His friend cautioned him: “But what if her dad receives the letter?”

In a land of political cut-outs and graffiti, ‘My stamp’ may find takers in political parties to send party communique with the leader’s stamp on the cover. Those planning to gain commercial mileage, however, may be put off as India Post has clarified that only individuals, not businesses can make use of the ‘My stamp’ scheme.

Live with the consuming conviction that you are the Divine Self (Atma). This is the hard core eternal truth. The Atma it is, that sees through your eyes, hears through your ears, works through your fingers and moves through your feet. This true ‘you’ will not be elated by praise or deflated by blame. If someone carps at you, reason out thus within yourself: “Is he or she casting aspersions on my body? Well, why should I be worried then? Or are the abuses being addressed to the Atma? Nothing can affect its purity, or tarnish its glory. So remain calm and unperturbed.” You may ask, what happens then to the strings of abuse? Like the letter sent by post and refused by the addressee, it returns to the sender.

Be humble, be calm, be tolerant. Co-operate with all and treat everyone
with courtesy and kindness.
