message for the day
Message for the Day … ” . You may not always oblige others’ requests, but you can always speak obligingly. Nobody can escape from pain and suffering. Today it is that person, tomorrow it could be you. Therefore if you find someone suffering, try to help.”
Jesus Christ exemplified several noble qualities. He gave protection to several poor and destitute people with a loving heart. Jesus earned such a good name by sacrificing His body on the cross. You also must be prepared for such a great sacrifice. You must purify your heart with selfless love. Lead a life full of love and sacrifice! Never indulge in reviling others, for the same atma is permeating in every living being. If you abuse others, it amounts to abusing your own self. If you do not like them, keep yourself away from them, but never abuse them! Any amount of good work done by you will be of no use, if you do not give up bad qualities. You may not always oblige others’ requests, but you can always speak obligingly. Nobody can escape from pain and suffering. Today it is that person, tomorrow it could be you. Therefore if you find someone suffering, try to help.

Message for the Day…” Faith is the basis for all creation. Hence first and foremost, develop faith. Where there is faith and love, everything else will be added unto such a person “
Jesus underwent several trials and tribulations during His time. He became the Saviour and Messiah of the poor and forlorn, helping them in many ways. Once while crossing the desert, a poor woman approached Him begging for food. He gave her bread saying, “Take this”. When someone enquired where bread came from, Jesus replied that it was Divine will. There is nothing greater than Divine Will. Everything is God’s will. The foremost duty of a human being is to realise the will of God and submit oneself to that Divine will. People today are blind, having lost both their eyes of faith. Faith is the basis for all creation. Hence first and foremost, develop faith. Where there is faith and love, everything else will be added unto such a person. Many people have faith, but lack love. Faith devoid of love has no use. Love and faith must be together like mutually attractive magnetic poles.

Message for the Day…. ” Jesus was not merely a human form. He was the Embodiment of Divine Self, verily.”
The kind-hearted Governor, did not want Jesus to be awarded a death sentence. He lamented that a great and noble man was being crucified for no fault of His. He told Jesus, “You are a great man. These stone-hearted people are trying to kill You without any reason.” Jesus replied, “I am happy that at least you understand My goodness!” Finally before crucifixion His mother, Mary, came near Him and started shedding tears. Jesus consoled her saying, “Why do you cry, mother? The body is like a water bubble. Let them do whatever they wish with this body. Don’t think they are trying to kill Me. I have no death!” Mary then asked, “Are You not my son?” Jesus replied, “Of course! I am related to you physically as a son – but, ‘I am I’ only. You are all like children to Me. All of you are embodiments of Divine.” Thus, Jesus attained the highest level of spirituality, having gone through all tests. Jesus was not merely a human form. He was the Embodiment of Divine Self, verily.

This 69 year old Man has helped start free Libraries across Chennai , and YOU can too !
No membership, no one to supervise, and no last date to return books: Mahendra Kumar’s libraries run on no rules, and plenty of goodwill.
Chennai-based Mahendra Kumar speaks about reading and books with reverence and passion. “It is a character-building activity,” he says earnestly.
In April 2015, he decided to do something which he hoped would encourage people to read: He opened a library in Thirumullaivoyal, Chennai.
It wasn’t just your run-of-the-mill library. The most unique part about it wasn’t even that it was set up in a cement shop, where 69-year-old Mahendra shared a table with the shopkeeper.
What truly set it apart was there was no membership fee, no register to keep track. Literally anyone could walk in, pick up one of the 20 books, and take it home. They could return it whenever they wanted.
This was the first Read and Return Free Library (RFL). Now, Mahendra says that there are 66 of them across TN, and a few other states, with 10,000 books in all.
His first library in Thirumillaivoyal has now expanded to three cupboards, which he keeps outside his house, bursting with books. It stands completely unmanned.
“I could have kept a register perhaps, where people could sign with the book they were taking,” he adds as an afterthought. But Mahendra snaps out of it the very next moment. “I wanted no protocols, no control. Just people free to read and return books, as per their conscience.”
Encouraging others
Presently, there are 48 RFL libraries in Chennai alone. The others are in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Aurangabad and Mumbai.
But setting these up has not been an easy task. Unable to travel to these places himself, Mahendra would try to convince others to start such libraries.
“I would sometimes see contact numbers in books. Someone who has written an introduction or a foreword – I’d try to find their numbers. I would try to convince them then to start this in their locality. And I would send whatever little money I could to help them,” Mahendra shares.
One such person he convinced was a former classmate of his, Captain R Venkataraman, who started a RFL library in T Nagar, Chennai, in 2016.
“But there are only so many friends or family members who can be convinced,” Mahendra says. “If there are 66 libraries today, you can assume I made 6,000 calls for them.”
Not as easy as it seems
In the past two years, RFL libraries have sprung up in many different places – gated communities, railway stations, hospitals and even a barber shop.

RFL at a Railway Station….
Mahendra is reluctant to share that this has required a considerable amount of legwork and resources from him. He believes it will discourage people, and make them wary of starting more RFLs.
“When people initially came to know about the concept, they wanted to donate books. So I would speak to a few of them, start at 5 am in the morning, make a round with multiple stops and come back with a car full of books,” he recounts. “Sometimes, I would sleep in the car because I’d get tired.”
The problem was that everyone wanted to donate books, but no one wanted to start the library. “Sometimes, people seemed on board with the idea, but they don’t really follow it up with action. I have been wanting to start one RFL library in Bengaluru as well, and got a volunteer too. But they have not really taken it forward after that.”
Mahendra says that he is ready to send some books, and whatever token amount he can from his pocket to help them get started, if only people volunteer.
He also mentions that he is grateful for his wife, who has never raised an objection against him going around the city at odd hours to collect books, and spending money for the RFLs.
Helping students
Mahendra put together the RFL website in 2016. While he is not very familiar with the internet, he says that he somehow learnt some basics and put it together. “The logo looks very childish, no? I made it on Microsoft Paint,” he says, sounding anxious.
The sole purpose for starting the website, he says, is to promote something called ‘Students Corner’.
It allows students to post requirements for second-hand course books, as well as if they have books to donate. Once they fill a form under that section on the site, other students can see it and get in touch. The donor can either mail the books or have them collected by the recipient, as per convenience.
However, Mahendra rues that this has not become as popular as he would have liked it to be.
He also wishes for more people to start RFLs in their localities. “But, it is quite simple really. You just have to see it from time to time to ensure that the infrastructure, wherever you’ve put it, is okay. You can also start it, madam!” he says, cheerfully.

Message for the Day….” The indweller (dehi) who lives inside this body is the true Divinity! Anyone with a physical body cannot escape vicissitudes of life. Without hardships no one can exist. Death follows birth and with the same certainty misery follows happiness!””
Jesus instilled great faith in people who lived during his lifetime. One of those fishermen was named by Jesus as Peter. He developed intense love and faith towards Jesus. From then on, all the fishermen regularly used to take Jesus out on their fishing expeditions and after their return in the evening, Jesus used to expound spiritual matters to them. When Peter’s father passed away, his mother was filled with sorrow, but Jesus consoled her by telling, “Death is but a dress of life. Wherefore do you shed tears? Death is like changing one’s dress. Therefore stop grieving. These physical bodies come and go, so do not waste your thought on these ephemeral things. The indweller (dehi) who lives inside this body is the true Divinity! Anyone with a physical body cannot escape vicissitudes of life. Without hardships no one can exist. Death follows birth and with the same certainty misery follows happiness!”

Message for the Day…. ” Start with this first lesson, from the spiritual primer. Do not merely boast that you have mastered the Bhagavad Gita, “
Start with this first lesson, from the spiritual primer. Do not merely boast that you have mastered the Bhagavad Gita, having read it a hundred times over, and learnt by rote all the slokas with all the commentaries so far written upon them. Among all the millions who were taught the Gita, Arjuna alone had the Vishwarupa Darshana, the vision that this Universe is but a partial manifestation of His immeasurable glory; why is it that these great pandits had no such experience? Realisation of that reality can come only to the aspirant who deserves it. Arjuna had reached the highest stage of surrender when the teaching started and during the process, he had unexcelled ekagrata or concentration. No wonder he was blessed. Unless you possess the same degree of surrender, the same yearning and the same concentration, how can you expect the result that Arjuna attained?

Message for the Day…. ” A true devotee who poses to be sincere must exercise constant vigilance and practice the discipline of being ever in the Divine Presence”
|
In present times, everyone is moaning that they have lost peace, security and happiness. There is a loud clamour from all quarters. But is anyone seeking to discover why has this tragedy happened? The reason is, ‘There is no coordination between what is said and what is done.’ Hypocrisy is rampant at homes, villages, offices and in council-halls of the nation. Some who turn beads with God’s name on their lips are also engaged in ungodly pursuits. With Bhagavad Gita in their hands, they talk scandal and hatch evil plots. With rosaries on their fingers, they fume at servants, losing temper on the slightest pretext. This is no vow or discipline of the spirit! A true devotee who poses to be sincere must exercise constant vigilance and practice the discipline of being ever in the Divine Presence. God, who is now dormant in your consciousness, has to be recognised and made resurgent so that every act of yours will reflect the divine splendour.

Message for the Day… ” One may have desires, but they should be under limit. They should be based on truth and righteousness. Do not eat whatever you get. Do not speak whatever comes to your mind. Speak only after proper enquiry”
Everybody has to pass through the adversities of life. It is the nature of pravritti (outward path). There is another aspect to life – nivritti (inward path). A child goes to its mother and says, “I am hungry.” The mother who follows just the outward path says, “Child, go and eat food. Your hunger will be satiated.” This is the pravritti dharma. But the mother who treads the inward path does not merely say so. She would advise the child as to what type of food to eat, when and how to eat too. The mother who follows nivritti path advices you to eat such food which will bestow you with good health. One may have desires, but they should be under limit. They should be based on truth and righteousness. Do not eat whatever you get. Do not speak whatever comes to your mind. Speak only after proper enquiry. The Ramayana teaches the pravritti and nivritti aspects of life in a beautiful manner. There is no morality higher than what is depicted in it. The Ramayana should be the subject of our parayana (worship).
