மகாபெரியவர் சொன்ன கதை !!!

நகைச்சுவைக்கும் பெரியவா பெயர் எடுத்தவர். ஒரு நாள் இவர் படுத்துக்கொண்டிரு& #2965;்கும்போது கிழவர் ஒருவர் வந்தார்.

“பிரபு! என்னால் ஒண்ணுமே முடியலை: அடிக்கடி ஜுரம் வருது: ஹார்ட்ல பிராப்ளம் இருக்கு!” என்று பெரிய பட்டியல் போட்டு, “பெரியவாதான் காப்பத்தணும்!” என்று கும்பிட்டார்.

பெரியவா முனகிக் கொண்டே ” ஒக்காரு! உனக்கு ஒரு கதை சொல்லட்டுமா..” என்று ஆரம்பித்தார்:

“ஒரு கிராமத்திலே, கோயிலில் குறி சொல்லும் பூசாரி ஒருவர் இருந்தார். அவர் சொன்னதெல்லாம் பலித்துவிடும்.அதே ஊரில் இருந்த ஒரு போலீஸ்காரர், பூசாரியின் நெருங்கிய நண்பன். ஒரு நாள் அந்த பூசாரி கோயிலைத் திறந்தார். பல சாமான்கள் திருட்டுப் போய்விட்டதைப் பார்த்தார். உடனே தன் போலீஸ் நண்பனிடம் தெரிவிக்க ஓடினார். அதே சமயம் அந்த போலீஸ்காரர் பூசாரியைத் தேடி ஓடி வந்து கொண்டிருந்தார்.. “தேடிப்போன மூலிகை காலில் சுத்திண்டதுபோல நீயே வந்துட்டியே!” என்று பூசாரி சந்தோஷப்பட்டார். “கும்பிடப்போன தெய்வம் குறுக்கே வந்ததுபோல நீங்க வந்துட்டிங்களே!” என்று போலீஸ்காரனும் சந்தோஷப்பட்டார்.

“என்னது, நீ என்னைத் தேடி வரயா? என்ன ஆயிற்று?” என்றார் பூசாரி. “என் சைக்கிளைக் காணோம்: யார் எடுத்திருப்பான்னு
கொஞ்சம் குறி பார்த்துச் சொல்லணும். அதுக்குத்தான் ஓடி வரேன்!” என்றார் அவர்!.

“அட…ராமா! நானே கோயில் சாமான்களைக் காணோம் நீ கண்டு பிடித்துக் கொடுப்பாய் என்று, உன்னைத் தேடி வந்துண்டிருக்கேன். நீ இப்படிச் சொல்றயே?” என்றாராம்.

இது போலத்தான், நீ உடம்பு தேவலையாகணும்னு எங்கிட்ட வந்திருக்கே. ‘எனக்கே மூணு நாளா ஜுரம்’. இது பூசாரியும் போலீஸும் சந்திச்சிண்ட மாதிரி இருக்கு!” என்று சிரித்தாராம். பெரியவா. கிழவரும் சிரித்துவிட்டார்.

Message For The Day…You Are Essentially a Bliss!!!

Believe Me, your nature is Sath-Chith-Ananda (Existence, Consciousness and Absolute Bliss). That is why you behave in the way you do. You desire to exist for ever; you enjoy life and avoid all talk of your own death. That is enough evidence to conclude that you are Reality in essence (Sath-swarupa). Then, again, you are filled with wonder and curiosity and a desire to know the world around you. You ask continuously what, why, how and when, about all and sundry. This is the prompting that is given by the Consciousness (Chith). Lastly, you are always seeking joy and try to avoid grief. It is your nature to do so, for you are essentially Bliss. When someone asks you, “How do you do?” and you answer, “Quite well, thank you,” they do not stop to enquire why you are well. It is only when you answer that you are ill, you are further questioned anxiously. “Well-ness” is natural; “illness” unnatural. Anxiety is caused only by the unnatural. So, in essence you are happiness.

Shri Shankaranarayanan, a devotee used to have dharshan of Periyava, as he is a staunch follower. He got affected by a strange but, high fever, which affected him once in 10,15 days. Since this had become a routine, he tried all sort of medicines and advices from various doctors. Nevertheless, his hopes and untiring efforts to overcome the fever remained. The man came to a conclusion that treatment given by doctors would no more be a remedy and there is only one last resort, none other than the guru.

One fine morning, he visited the Sri Mutt and had dharshan. Periyava asked, “ippa than varaya”

‘Yes Periyava’

“Have you heard about Jwarahareswara temple in Kanchi? Have you been there before?

‘No Periyava’

“Today is a Sunday in Karthikai masam. Come, we shall see Jwarahareswara and Surya Baghavan” said Periyava and walked down.

Shankaranarayanan followed Periyava like a calf to a cow.

By the time they reached there, the priest had left already and in spite of it, HE made him have dharshan.

“Do you have some money?”

‘No Periyava… I just left my purse at mutt itself…’

“Ok… Do one thing… Go to that mandapam and get some yachakam from people who are there…”

Shankaranarayanan managed to get 10,15 rupees in a few minutes.

“There is a plate in front of Swami Sannadhi… Go and offer some and drop some money in hundi too…”

“Good… Let us go to Kachchapeswarar temple from here… As today is a Sunday in Karthikai, celebrations are happening there.”

You know, arogyam baskaradhichcheth (let body be healthy with the grace of Surya)…

Periyava, after having dharshan at Sannandhi and seeing Surya Baghavan, came to the mandapam and called some vedhic scholars and asked them to sing Surya sadhagam and explained.

He said to Shankaranarayanan, “Ok time is up…. You can go and eat and start to your place”.

Though Shankaranarayanan was happy about the visit to temples along with Periyava, he was feeling sad for not telling his health condition to HIM. He left the place sadly and realised later on, that the fever had left too and never dared to strike again!

No!!!…This Is Not a Prank Call !!!

A lady rang up St. Joseph ‘s Hospital and timidly asked, “Is it possible to speak to someone who can tell me how a patient is doing?”

The operator said, “I’ll be glad to help, dear, if you tell me the name and room number of the patient?” The sweet lady in a weak, tremulous voice said, “Norma Findlay, Room 302.”

The operator said, “Let me put you on hold while I check with the nurse’s station for that room.”

After a few minutes, the operator returned to the phone and said, “I have good news…. Her nurse just told me that Norma is going normal…. Her blood pressure is fine, her blood report just came in and – all is ok, and by the way her physician, Dr. Cohen, has scheduled her to be discharged tomorrow.”

The sweet lady said, “Thank you… That’s wonderful..!! I was so worried. God bless you for the good news..!!”

The operator replied, “You’re more than welcome… Is Norma your daughter?”

The lady said, “No, I’m Norma Findlay in Room 302… No one tells me anything”

Health Benefits of Atta (Whole Wheat Flour)

Whole foods, including whole wheat flour, contain some of the healthiest fats, carbohydrates and proteins, which are essential in lowering the risk of developing metabolic syndromes.

Cereals high in bran, such as whole wheat, have excellent laxative properties that are necessary for alleviating symptoms of diverticular disease like pain, nausea, flatulence, constipation, distension and so on. These conditions are characterized by inflammation and lower abdominal pains, sometimes leading to the formation of a pouch in the wall of the colon due to chronic constipation and excessive straining.

Being an anti-cancerous agent, whole wheat flour boosts the metabolism of estrogen, which is regarded as a promoter of breast cancer. The bran in whole wheat is highly beneficial in preventing cancerous agents in the colon, which can otherwise increase the concentration of bile acids and bacterial enzymes in the stool.

Postmenopausal women consuming a fiber-rich diet, with whole wheat flour, have shown to reduce the risk of breast cancer by 34% compared to those who consume fiber in the lesser amounts.

Eating a serving of whole wheat can reduce levels of cholesterol, high blood pressure and other signs of cardiovascular disease.

A rich intake of whole wheat is significantly linked to lowering the risk of wheezing and asthma in children and bronchial hyper-responsiveness (BHR), a condition where narrowing of the airways increase.

Whole wheat contains the powerful antioxidant, vitamin E, which protects fat-containing substances, like cell membranes, brain cells and fatty molecules, from free radical damage. In turn, the vitamins are essential for immune system function, cancer prevention and blood glucose control for both healthy and diabetic people.

116 Years….Going Strong !!!…World”s Oldest Lady !!!

The world’s oldest woman has celebrated her 115th birthday in a Japanese nursing home.

Misao Okawa told a broadcaster she had never expected to live to such a great age but had managed it ‘thanks to everybody’. She celebrated with a meal of mackerel sushi, her favourite dish.

Late last month Okawa received a certificate from Guinness World Records confirming her status as the oldest living woman. Japan, known for the longevity of its people, is home to the oldest man and woman.

Okawa was born on March 5, 1898 and married in 1919. She had three children, two of whom – a son and a daughter – are still alive and in their 90s.

The centenarian, who has four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, has reportedly never had any major health problems, but broke her leg aged 102.

The world’s oldest living person is a 115-year-old man who lives in Kyoto, not far from Okawa. He will turn 116 in April.

Message For The Day….Not Only Preach..But also Practice…

Do not be carried away by the cynicism of critics – that should serve only to encourage you. Examine the faults that may lie dormant in you and work sincerely to get rid of them. Do not merely give platform speeches on the excellence of qualities such as charity, service, sympathy, equality, secularism, etc. Descend from the platform and practise at least a few ideals sincerely. When your neighbour is in the throes of a serious illness, do not rest content with the idea that you are happily free. You are not free if even one is suffering or bound. Remember that the food you give to each living being reaches the Supreme Divine Himself, the service you do to any being, anywhere in the globe, fills the Lord with joy.

A Clear Day and a Polluted Day in Beijing !!!

Beijing Smog

Beijing’s smog problem has become an international issue this year, with reports of canned air being solda ban on BBQs and even talk of moving the capital from Beijing to escape the fumes.

What can be hard to get across is exactly how much the smog changes the day-to-day life in the city. This photo, taken by Reddit user BananasUnited, shows the difference between a “clear” day, with a AQI of less than 500, and a smoggy day, with an AQI of more than 500.

AQI stands for Air Quality Index, which technically only goes to 500. On January 29th, however, Beijing’s AQI reached 517.
