Lotto Winner Thought She won $40000…But Her Prize money was $40 Million !!!!!

A Canadian lottery winner was thrilled when she thought she’d won $40,000 – and was shocked when her daughter told her she’d actually won $40 million.

A TORONTO woman did a happy dance when she thought she’d won $40,000 in the lottery – and then realised she’d actually won $40 million.

Grandmother Maria Carreriro, 51, showed off her happy dance again when Canadian lottery officials presented her with a cheque for $C40 million ($37.6 million), the National Post reports.

She also threw in a few air kisses and “thank you Lord”s for good measure.

Ms Carreriro, a former factory worker-turned-stay-at-home mum, was over the moon when she told her daughter she’d just won $40,000.

“She’s jumping off the bed too and then she calls her (sister) and says, “Mommy won $40,000”, Ms Carreriro said.

“She went on the computer…and she goes ‘Mommy, you’re $40 million richer. I’m like ‘no way, no way’”

“I run down the street like a crazy woman and check the lottery ticket and it says $40 million and I go ‘Oh my God.”

Ms Carreriro meant to play a different set of numbers, but ended up with a quick pick that gave her many of her usual numbers. Her husband didn’t believe her when she called him at his office to tell him the good news, she said.

Spoiling her grandchildren, buying new homes for her family and a long-delayed honeymoon to Hawaii are first on her shopping list, she said.

Message For The Day….Burn The Lamp of Love in The Niche of Your Heart !!!!!

Everyone has inside them a whole set of animals. You must suppress the tendencies of these animals and encourage the human qualities of love and friendship to shine forth. Begin the cultivation of virtues even when young, it is very important and more beneficial than book-learning. Treat everyone as your own people and even if you cannot do them any good, desist from causing any injury. Burn the lamp of love in the niche of your heart and the nocturnal birds of greed and envy will fly away, unable to bear the light. Love makes you humble, it makes you bend and bow when you see greatness and glory.

Richard Branson”s New UK Airline!!!!

Virgin Atlantic has celebrated its first ever domestic flight, from London to Edinburgh.

Sir Richard Branson, the airline’s founder, was present at the launch of its inaugural domestic service, named Little Red.

He said the move would bring greater choice for consumers, potentially pushing down prices..

“Today marks the start of an exciting new chapter in Virgin Atlantic’s history,” said Sir Richard. “Our product, service and flair are known throughout the world, and we’re thrilled to be bringing that to domestic flying.

Virgin will soon fly 26 domestic flights a day, connecting Heathrow with Manchester and Aberdeen, as well as the Scottish capital.

The airline was granted new landing and take-off slots at Heathrow earlier this year following the takeover of Bmi by International Airlines Group (IAG) – the parent company of British Airways. Its foray into domestic services will also create dozens of jobs.

Nicola Sturgeon, deputy first minister of Scotland, welcomed the launch. “These new flights from Edinburgh and Aberdeen will create jobs, offer passengers easier access to Virgin’s global destinations and provide competition on these routes, resulting in a better deal for passengers,” she said. ?”Good access to Heathrow; Britain’s only hub airport, is essential for Scotland’s economic development.”

While Sir Richard was happy to reveal his specially-made outfit today, he may be less keen on the outfit he’ll be asked to wearnext month. On May 12 he will be boarding an AirAsia flight from Perth to Kuala Lumpur dressed as a female flight attendant to fulfil a bet made with AirAsia chief executive and F1 owner Tony Fernandes. Mr Fernandes, who once worked for Sir Richard’s music business, bet that his Lotus Racing team would perform better in its debut season than Virgin Racing, with the loser dressing up as a stewardess. Lotus Racing finished 10th, and Virgin 12th.

“The day of reckoning for Sir Richard has finally arrived,” Mr Fernandes said on Monday. “It’s an awkward moment when you go down memory lane and recall the times I used to work for Richard. And it’s hilarious to think now, that it’s Richard who will be working for me as a sassy flight attendant, complete with make-up, a pair of high heels and freshly shaved legs.”

Do You Know Why ???!!!

Q: Why are many coin banks shaped like pigs?

A: Long ago, dishes and cookware in Europe were made of dense orange clay called “pygg.” When people saved coins in jars made of this clay, the jars became known as “pygg banks.” When an English potter misunderstood the word, he made a bank that resembled a pig. And it caught on.

Q: Did you ever wonder why dimes, quarters and half dollars have notches, while pennies and nickels do not?

A: The US Mint began putting notches on the edges of coins containing gold and silver to discourage holders from shaving off small quantities of the precious metals. Dimes, quarters and half dollars are notched because they used to contain silver. Pennies and nickels aren’t notched because the metals they contain are not valuable enough to shave.

Q: Why do men’s clothes have buttons on the right while women’s clothes have buttons on the left?

A: When buttons were invented, they were very expensive and worn primarily by the rich. Because wealthy women were dressed by maids, dressmakers put the buttons on the maid’s right. Since most people are right-handed, it is easier to push buttons on the right through holes on the left. And that’s where women’s buttons have remained since.

Q: Why do X’s at the end of a letter signify kisses?

A: In the Middle Ages, when many people were unable to read or write, documents were often signed using an X. Kissing the X represented an oath to fulfill obligations specified in the document. The X and the kiss eventually became synonymous.

Q: Why is shifting responsibility to someone else called “passing the buck”?

A: In card games, it was once customary to pass an item, called a buck, from player to player to indicate whose turn it was to deal. If a player did not wish to assume the responsibility, he would “pass the buck” to the next player.

Q: Why do people clink their glasses before drinking a toast?

A: It used to be common for someone to try to kill an enemy by offering him a poisoned drink. To prove to a guest that a drink was safe, it became customary for a guest to pour a small amount of his drink into the glass of the host. Both men would drink it simultaneously. When a guest trusted his host, he would then just touch or clink the host’s glass with his own.

Q: Why are people in the public eye said to be “in the limelight”?

A: Invented in 1825, limelight was used in lighthouses and stage lighting by burning a cylinder of lime which produced a brilliant light. In the theater, performers on stage “in the limelight” were seen by the audience to be the center of attention.

Q: Why do ships and aircraft in trouble use “mayday” as their call for help?

A: This comes from the French word m’aidez–meaning “help me”–and is pronounced “mayday.”

Q: Why is someone who is feeling great “on cloud nine”?

A: Types of clouds are numbered according to the altitudes they attain, with nine being the highest cloud if someone is said to be on cloud nine, that person is floating well above worldly cares.

Q: Why are zero scores in tennis called “love”?

A: In France, where tennis first became popular, a big, round zero on scoreboard looked like an egg and was called “l’oeuf,” which is French for “egg.” When tennis was introduced in the US, Americans pronounced it “love.”

Q: In golf, where did the term “Caddie” come from?

A. When Mary, later Queen of Scots, went to France as a young girl (for education & survival), Louis, King of France, learned that she loved the Scot game “golf.” So he had the first golf course outside of Scotland built for her enjoyment. To make sure she was properly chaperoned (and guarded) while she played, Louis hired cadets from a military school to accompany her. Mary liked this lot and when she returned to Scotland (not a very good idea in the long run); she took the practice with her. In French, the word cadet is pronounced ‘ca-day’ and the Scots changed it into “caddie.”

A Question Answer Session With Chris Hadfield !!!

Question: What time zone do you live by? Do you switch off the lights at “night”?
We live on Greenwich time, UTC, same as London, England. We shut of most lights at bedtime – it feels right to do it.
Question: How long does it take for you to orbit around the Earth?
ISS orbits the world every 92 minutes, so that makes it 8 km/sec, or 500 km/minute – 28,000 km/hr. Or about Mach 25.
Question: Have you done any space walks? If so, what was it like?
I was Canada’s first spacewalker, doing two to help build the mighty Canadarm2 robot onto ISS. It was the most magnificent experience of my life. Alone in a 1-person spaceship (my suit), just holding on with my one hand, with the bottomless black universe on my left and the World pouring by in technicolor on my right. I highly recommend it.
Question: You tweet a lot. When do you find the time?
The priorities are crew health, vehicle health, work/science & then personal pursuits; I take photos, tweet & play guitar when I can!
Question: How long does the mission last?
I’m in orbit, working onboard ISS for 5 months, until mid-May 2013.
Question: What are your personal quarters like on the ISS?
I’m typing now in my ‘Sleep Station’, a small padded room with a door, completely private, like a bedroom without the bed, and phone booth sized.
Question: How often do you exercise on the ISS?
We work out 2 hours per day, every day, just to stay at a constant level of fitness to be ready to do a spacewalk, and to have strong bones and muscles when we come home.
Question: How long did it take you to learn how to maneuver in zero gravity? Are you much better at it now than when you originally came aboard the ISS?

I’m still learning! But sometimes now, I am graceful. I feel like an adapted ape swinging through the jungle canopy … until I miss a handrail and crash into the wall.

Message For The Day….Do Not Worry About Ups And Downs ….

First, have unshakeable faith that can stand the ridicule of the ignorant, worldly and the low-minded. When someone ridicules you, reflect within yourself – Are they ridiculing my body or soul? If they are ridiculing my body, they are helping me develop detachment! Ridiculing the soul is impossible, for, theAtma is beyond praise or blame, words or thoughts. Then repeat to yourself, “I am the Eternal Self, Pure and Immovable (Nirmala, Nischala) and so I must transcend this feeling.” Secondly, do not worry about ups and downs, loss or gain, joy or grief. You are the creator of your own destiny. You crave for something – when you get it, you feel joyful! If you don’t get it, you are in despair. Cut the craving off, and there will be no more swings between joy and grief. Finally, be convinced in the Omnipresence of Divinity.

Money Saving Tips From Our Grandparents !!!!

Live within your means
Living within your means is something easily said and a lot harder to follow. To do it, it is just a question of making a budget and spending less than what you earn (net after taxes). The main thing is to focus on your needs, not your wants, because it is easy to let our impulse spending get out of control. In addition, our grandparents certainly knew how to avoid lifestyle inflation. If you have already lived happily with a set amount of money before, why change now? You will not really miss the extra income if you do not get used to it and it is a lot more satisfying to see your retirement account grow.
“Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without”
This rather catchy phrase was used quite a number of times during the Great Depression and is the perfect counterpart to the word ‘frugal.’
Use it up
As a society that enjoys stockpiling, trying different things and always being dazzled by the next new must-have, it can be hard to shut out all the marketing noise. However, if you’ve stockpiled a whole range of products such as shampoos, use up your stash before trying a new brand or going out to buy yet another 10 on sale.
Wear it out
The best example of this would be an automobile purchase. When you buy a car, buy it until it is absolutely worn out and destined for recycling at the junk heap. Don’t fall into the trap of wanting a new car every 3 years just to keep up with the Joneses.
Make it do
What you have may not be perfect, but if it is able to do the job with a little coaxing, don’t bother buying anything. For instance, let’s say you run out of your favorite brand of ketchup in the house, but you have an old generic bottle that has been sitting around for a while that you don’t really like. Make it do by adding flavorings such as spices to change what you don’t like about it.
Do without
If you simply have nothing that is usable, find a creative way to do use something else. Perhaps you ran out of that commercial fertilizer for your plants. Why not try making your own at home by using egg shells, which are full of calcium, or your old coffee grounds? It would certainly help the environment.
Cook at home
During the Great Depression, eating out was a rare treat. Today, it has turned from a treat to a routine habit, as seen in 2011 where 40.6% of American food budgets in general was spent on eating food away from home. If you must go to a restaurant, at least cut back on how frequently you go. Ask for water rather than an overpriced alcoholic beverage.
Free things
There’s no need to feel like staying at home is a punishment rather than a treat. Our grandparents were just trying to keep food on the table and didn’t have the luxury of big-box malls to shop at. It can be nice to wind down and relax rather than always being on the go. Find free things to do like playing a sport with your friends, trying a new recipe at home, taking a book out of a library, or learning a new skill such as a new language that could potentially increase your earning income in the future.
The bottom line
Being frugal doesn’t mean being cheap, it means being smart with how you spend your money so you are able to save more for your future. After all, you spent a lot of time earning it. Our grandparents know best.

Message For The Day….Advice To Students And Youngsters….

Students and youngsters must have challenging attitude towards things and honour physical labour. You must be eager to be of service to those who need it on account of their disabilities. Honour your elders and do not miss any chance of serving or pleasing them. Whatever gives you health and joy, welcome it – but do not lower yourself by indulging in vulgar pastimes. Do not wander aimlessly in the streets or frequent cinema halls and mix with undesirable company, or cultivate bad habits for fun. Remember that you must raise your motherland to great heights through your hard work and effort. When you develop such virtues, the nation will prosper.
