Message for the Day…” You must Hold on to the Name of God Under any Circumstance …”

In the young-of-the-monkey type of devotion, the child must rely on its own strength to protect itself —wherever the mother jumps, the child must attach itself to its mother’s belly and hold on, even if pulled apart! So too, the devotee must stand the tests of the Lord and hold on to His name under all conditions, tirelessly, without the slightest trace of dislike or disgust, bearing the criticism and ridicule of the world and conquering the feelings of shame and defeat. An exemplary example of this type of devotion is Prahlada. In the second path, just as the kitten simply places all its burdens on the mother cat, so too, the devotee completely trusts the Lord and surrenders to Him. The mother cat holds the kitten in its mouth and transports it safely through even very narrow passages. Lakshmana is the example of this path. These two are sometimes referred to as devotion with effort (bhakthi) and self-surrender (prapatti). The former a hard path, while the latter a simple or safe path.

Message For the Day…” There is no Distinction Between Devotion to God and Spiritual Wisdom…”

Spiritual practices should be done consistently with an ever expanding heart full of devotion and spiritual wisdom. There is no distinction between devotion to God (bhakthi) and spiritual wisdom (jnana). Just as materialisation (sa-guna) becomes formless (nir-guna), devotion becomes spiritual wisdom. I don’t agree that dedicated action (karma), devotion, and spiritual wisdom are separate. Dedicated activity is devotion and devotion is spiritual wisdom. So too, the individual soul (jiva), the Atma, and the Supreme Lord (Parameswara) are not separate; they are one and the same. Therefore, every single deed of yours must be full of the spirit of selfless service (seva), divine love (prema),and spiritual wisdom (jnana). Your life’s activities must be saturated with dedicated action, devotion to God (bhakthi), and spiritual wisdom. This is verily the yoga of the Supreme(Purushothama-yoga).

Message For the Day…” What God Wants From us ….” ?

God only wants the flower of your heart that is filled with humility and devotion. Eight types of flowers can be offered to God, namely, (1) Non-violence (Ahimsa), (2) Control of senses (Indriya Nigraha),(3) Compassion towards all beings (Sarva Bhuta Dhaya), (4) Truth(Satyam), (5) Meditation (Dhyanam), (6) Peace (Shanti), (7) Humility (Vinaya) and (8) Devotion (Bhakti). In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna has referred to ‘Pathram, Phalam, Pushpam, Thoyam’(leaf, fruit, flower or water) that can be offered to God. ‘Pathram’ means offering yourself as a leaf. Flower is your heart, ‘Hridaya Pushpam’. ‘Phalam’ is the fruit of your mind. ‘Thoyam’ refers to the tears of joy welling up within you from a sincere and prayerful heart. God is pleased when any one of these is offered with sincere devotion.
