Message For the Day…” Just Like Taking Butter Out of Milk, You Must Search God Within You …”

The Gopikas lived their lives, doing everything as God’s work. They would get up early in the morning, and chant the name of Krishna even as they put curd in the pot. Then as they began churning curds, they would continuously utter the many names of Lord Krishna. Chanting Krishna’s name was like the Shruthi (musical scale), their jingling bangles became the rhythm, the sound of churning was the pitch and what they uttered became a mellifluous song. Where did the butter they churned come from? It came from the curds, though it was not visible in the beginning. Just like one can get butter out of milk, with effort you too who have come from God must merge in Him. Understand this principle well and you can experience Him anywhere and everywhere, all the time.

Message For the Day…” You must have Self confidence as the Foundation…”

Look at a beautiful building. How is it strong? It has walls, which gives it support. But how do the walls get the support? There is a foundation beneath it. The walls are able to stand strong because the foundation is solid. What is the use of the walls and foundation without a roof? You can live in a place, only when there is a roof. So too, to lead a happy life and accomplish Self-Realization, you must have Self-confidence as the foundation, Self-satisfaction as the walls and Self-sacrifice as your roof. So first and foremost, develop Self-confidence. Where there is faith, there is love. Where there is love, there is peace. Where there is peace, there is truth. Where there is truth, there is bliss. Where there is bliss, there is God. And where there is God, there is everything. Never forget this principle and develop Self-confidence.

Sathya Sai Baba

Message For the Day…”Believe Whatever you are doing , You are doing Out of Love for God …”

Some people ask, “If we spend all the time praying to God, then who will do our jobs? How can we run our family?” I will show you a very easy way – do your job, thinking that the job also belongs to God. Do not keep your mind on it thinking it is ‘my job’. Think that all the actions that you do, you are doing it for God. Offer everything at His Feet. Believe and tell yourself, “Whatever I am doing, I am doing it out of love for God”. Then, you need not give up anything. Face the examinations and do your work in a spirit of total devotion and dedication. When you do all your work as God’s work, then you will get the right reward. Never think, “This is my work and that is God’s work”; such mindset will deprive you of the right rewards. Realize that everything is God’s work.

Message For the Day…” Never Forget the Good Done to You by Others…”

God does not exist in any foreign land; do not search for Him anywhere – He lives within your own body. Similarly sin too does not exist in any external place. Both, sin and merit exist in your own actions. Hence perform good actions and speak good words. If your kerchief falls down and someone picks it up for you, you tell him ‘Thank you’, is it not? So too, you must use your tongue to express your gratitude to God. God has gifted us many wonderful things. For example, when it rains, there is plenty of water flowing through canals, rivers, tanks, etc. All the forms of Nature – Earth, Sound, Water, Air and Fire are Forms of God. You must express your utmost gratitude to them. Never forget the good done to you by others – Be a grateful person.

Message for the Day…” Power of Gayathri Mantra …”

Gayathri is the Mother of all scriptures (Vedas). She exists, wherever Her name is chanted. She is very powerful. The One who nourishes the individual being is Gayathri. She bestows pure thoughts on anyone who worships Her. She is the embodiment of all Goddesses. Our very breath is Gayathri, our faith in existence is Gayathri. Gayathri has five faces, they are the five life principles. She has nine descriptions, they are ‘Om, Bhur, Bhuvah, Swah, Tat, Savitur, Varenyam, Bhargo, Devasya’. Mother Gayathri nourishes and protects every being and She channelizes our senses in the proper direction. ‘Dheemahi’ means meditation. We pray to her to inspire us with good intelligence. ‘Dheeyo Yonah Prachodayat’ – We beseech her to bestow on us everything we need. Thus Gayathri is the complete prayer for protection, nourishment and finally, liberation.

” Any one of us Can be a God to Somebody …”

A group of fifteen soldiers led by their Major Sahib were on their way to the post in Himalayas where they would be deployed for next three months. Another batch, which will be relieved, would be waiting anxiously for their arrival so that they could fall back to safer confines of their parent unit. Some would proceed on leave and meet their families. They were happy that they were to relieve a set of comrades who had done their job.

It was a treacherous climb and the journey was to last till the next evening. Cold winter with intermittent snowfall added to the torture.

If only someone could offer a cup of tea, the Major thought, knowing completely well that it was a futile wish.

They continued for another hour before they came across a dilapidated structure which looked like a small shop. It was locked.

It was 2 o’clock in the night and there was no house close to the shop where the owner could be located. In any case it was not advisable to knock any doors in the night for security reasons.

It was a stalemate. “No tea boys, bad luck” said the Major.

The Major told the men to take some rest since they had been walking for more than three hours now.

Sir, this is a tea shop indeed and we can make tea. We will have to break the lock though.

The officer was in doubt about the proposed action but a steaming cup of  tea was not a bad idea. He thought for a while and permitted for the lock to be broken. The lock was broken.

They were in luck.

The place was a shop indeed and had everything required for preparing tea, and also a few packets of biscuits.

The tea was prepared and it brought great relief to all in the cold night. They were now ready for the long and treacherous walk ahead of them and started to get ready to move.

The officer was in thought. They had broken open the lock and prepared tea and consumed biscuits without the permission of the owner. The payment was due but there was no one in sight. But they are not a band of thieves. They are disciplined soldiers.

The Major didn’t move out without doing what needed to be done. He took out a Rs. 1000/- note from his wallet and kept it on the counter, pressed under the sugar container, so that the owner sees it
first thing when he arrives in the morning.

He was now relieved of the guilt and ordered the move.

Days, weeks and months passed. They continued to do gallantly what they were required to do and were lucky not to lose any one from the group in the intense insurgency situation.

And then one day, it was time to be replaced by another brave lot.Soon they were on their way back and stopped at the same shop, which was today open with the owner in place. He was an old man with very meager resources and was happy to see fifteen of them with the prospect of selling at least fifteen cups of tea that day.

All of them had their tea and spoke to the old man about his life and experiences in general, selling tea at such remote a location. The poor, old man had many stories to tell all of them, replete with his
faith in God.

“Oh, Baba, If God is there, why should He keep you in such a poverty?”
said one of them; moved by his poverty and faith in God.

“Do not say like that Sahib ! God actually exists. I got the proof a few months ago.

“I was going through very tough times because my only son had been severely beaten by the terrorists who wanted some information from him which he did not have. I had closed the shop early that day and had taken my son to the hospital. There were medicines to be purchased and I had no money. No one would give me a loan from fear of the terrorists. There was no hope, Sahib.

“And that day Sahib, I had prayed to God for help. And Sahib, God walked into my shop that day.

“When I returned to my shop that day and saw the lock broken, I thought someone had broken in and had taken away whatever little I had. But then I saw that God had left Rs. 1000/- under the sugar
pot.Sahib, I can’t tell you what that money was worth that day. God exists Sahib, He does.

“I know people are dying every day here but all of you will soon meet your near and dear ones, your children, and you must thank your God Sahib, he is watching all of us. He does exist. He walked in to my shop that day and broke open the lock to give me the money I desperately needed. I know He did it.”

The faith in his eyes was unflinching. It was unnerving. Fifteen sets of eyes looked at their officer and read the order in his eyes clear and unambiguous, ‘Keep quiet.’

The officer got up and paid the bill and hugged the old man.

“Yes Baba, I know, God does exist – and yes the tea was wonderful.”

Fifteen pairs of eyes did not miss the moisture building in the eyes of the Major, a rare sight.

And the real truth is that any one of us can be a God to somebody.

Message for the Day…” God alone Loves You without Expecting Anything in Return…”

Not by work or wealth or progeny, but only by sacrifice can one attain immortality. All the scriptures explain the value of sacrifice. Understand its inner significance and practice it. Devotion should not be confined to visiting temples and saluting God therein. Devotion exists everywhere. Wherever you sit, you can utter the Name of the Lord. There is no place without Love, Love exists everywhere. Some love their mother or father, others their wife or children. There are yet others who love God. Loving God alone is true devotion. The love for any worldly person can at best be selfish – there is no one who loves another person without a selfish reason. God alone loves you without selfishness, expecting nothing in return. Therefore develop faith and devotion to God.
