Perth: Dozens of Australians tilted a train Wednesday to free a commuter whose leg was trapped between a carriage and a platform, with authorities praising their efforts as an example of “people power”.

The man was boarding in the Western Australia city of Perth when he slipped and became jammed in the five-centimetre (0.4-inch) gap between the carriage and the station, operator Transperth said in a statement.

Passengers were initially told to move to the opposite side of the train in the hope their weight would shift it away from his leg, a passenger who gave his name as Nic told The West Australian newspaper.

But when that failed, staff told commuters to get off the train and about 50 of them lined up in a row along the platform to tilt the carriage away from the man so he could be lifted out.

“It is the first time we’ve seen something like this happen,” Transperth spokeswoman Claire Krol told AFP.

“We were really fortunate that the staff were there straight away… and all of the passengers not only listened to the instructions from staff, but pitched in and helped.

“This is a real case of passengers of working together… and people power are the perfect words to describe it.”

Transperth said the man was treated by paramedics but was able to catch a later train.

“The end result here is: really lucky for the man involved, but really nice as well to see that everyone came together as a community,” Krol added.

” வெற்றியை கொடுக்கும் வெண்டைக்காய் …” !

விவசாயத்தில் வெற்றிபெற 5 ஏக்கர் 10 ஏக்கர் தேவையில்லை. அரை ஏக்கர் நிலமிருந்தாலே போதும் வெற்றியை குவிக்கலாம் என்று நிரூபித்திருக்கிறார் விவசாயி சம்பத். அரை ஏக்கரில் வெண்டைக்காய் விவசாயம் செய்து, தினமும் 1500 ரூபாய் சம்பாதிக்கும் சம்பத், “மழைகாலம், வெயில் காலம் என்று பாரபட்சமில்லாமல் எல்லாக் காலத்துக்கும் இந்த வருமானம் தொடர்ந்து கிடைக்கும். அதுதான் வெண்டைக்காய் விவசாயத்தின் சிறப்பு’ என்று சொல்லி நம்மை மேலும் வியப்பில் ஆழ்த்துகிறார்.
சம்பத்தின் வெண்டைக்காய் தோட்டத்தைக் காண கரூர் அருகேயுள்ள சந்தனகாளிபாளையம் கிராமத்துக்குச் சென்றோம். வாங்கல் மெயின் ரோட்டில் இருந்து கூப்பிடு தூரத்தில் வெண்டைக்காய் தோட்டம் பச்சைப் பசேல் என்று காட்சியளித்தது.
வெண்டைக்காய்ச் செடிகளுக்கு இடையே களை எடுத்துக் கொண்டிருந்த சம்பத், நம்மைப் பார்த்ததும் நிமிர்ந்தவர் ஓடிவந்து வரவேற்றார். ஒரு பச்சை வெண்டைக்காயைப் பறித்து கொறித்துக் கொண்டே சம்பத்திடம் பேசினோம்.
“நாங்கள் பரம்பரையாக விவசாயம்தான் செய்கிறோம். முன்பெல்லாம் நெல்லு, சோளம், கம்பு போட்டுக்கிட்டு இருந்தோம். அந்தப் பயிர் மழை இல்லாவிட்டால் சில வருடம் ஏமாற்றிவிடும். லாபமும் கம்மிதான். அந்தச் சமயத்தில் எனது நண்பர் ஒருவர் காய்கறி பயிரிட்டு தினமும் நல்ல வருமானம் பார்த்துவந்தார். அவரிடம் யோசனை கேட்டேன். “சுமாரான மண், கொஞ்சம் தண்ணீர் இருந்தால் போதும் நிச்சயம் காய்கறி பயிரிட்டு தினமும் வருமானம் பார்க்கலாம்’ என்றார். அவரின் யோசனையின் பேரில் கடந்த 5 வருடமாக கத்திரிக்காயும் வெண்டைக்காயும் பயிரிட்டு வருகிறேன்.
ஒரு ஏக்கரை பதியாகப் பிரித்து 50 சென்ட்டில் வெண்டை விதை போட்டேன். மீதமுள்ள 50 சென்ட்டில் 45 நாள் கழித்து விதை போட்டேன். முதலில் போட்ட செடியில் காய் வந்திருந்தது. அந்தப் பகுதியில் காய் காய்ப்பது நிற்கும்போது 45 நாள் கழித்து போட்ட இரண்டாவது பகுதியில் காய் விடத் துவங்கியிருந்தது. இப்படி மாற்றி மாற்றி பயிரிடும் போது வருடம் முழுவதும் நிச்சயம் தினமும் பணம் பார்க்கலாம்.
நிலத்தை நன்கு உழுது அதில் கும்பபைகளைக் கொண்டு வந்து போடுவேன். பிறகு வெண்டை விதை, கிலோ 2 ஆயிரத்து 500 ரூபாய், 50 சென்ட்டுக்கு அரை கிலோ இருந்தால் போதும். அதை வாங்கி நிலத்தில் தூவி நான்கு நாட்களுக்கு ஒரு முறை தண்ணீர் விடுவேன். செடி வந்ததும் களை வரும். களைகளை வெட்டிவிடுவேன். 30வ நாளில் செடியில் வைரஸ் தாக்கியிருக்கிறதா என்று பார்ப்பேன். அப்படி இருந்தால் மருந்து தெளிப்பேன். சரியாக 45வது நாளிலிருந்து காய் வர ஆரம்பிக்கும்.
50 சென்ட் நிலத்தில் வரும் காயை இரண்டு பிரிவாகப் பிரித்து தினமும் ஒரு பகுதியில் காய் பறிக்க வேண்டும். ஒரு நாள் பறிக்காமல் விட்டாலும் காய் முற்றிவிடும். கடையில் வெண்டைக்காயை மட்டும் காம்பை ஒடித்துப் பார்த்து பிஞ்சாக இருந்தால் மட்டுமே வாங்குவார்கள். அதனால் முத்தலாக ஆகும் வரை விடாமல் பறிக்க வேண்டும்.
தினமும் காலை 7 மணிக்கு 25 சென்ட் பகுதியில் காய் பறிக்க ஆரம்பிப்போம். கூலிக்கு ஒரு ஆள் நிச்சயம் வைத்தால்தான் விரைவில் பறிக்க முடியும். சொந்த ஆள் இருந்தால் அந்த வேலை மிச்சமாகும். வெறும் கையில் பறித்தால் செடியில் உள்ள முலாங்கு (முள்) கையைக் கிழித்து ரத்தம் வர வைத்துவிடும். அதனால் கையில் உறை போட்டுக் கொண்டு பறிக்க ஆரம்பிப்போம். சரியாக 10 மணிக்கு 25 சென்ட் பகுதியிலும் பறித்திருப்போம். அதை சாக்கில் போட்டுக் கட்டி வீட்டுக்குக் கொண்டு வந்து சாக்கை திறந்து வைத்து மூட்டையில் அப்படியே வைத்து விடுவோம். கீழே கொட்டிவைத்தால் வாடிப்போய்விடும். அதன் எடை நிச்சயம் 70 கிலோ இருக்கும்.
அந்த மூட்டையை அடுத்த நாள் அதிகாலை 4 மணிக்கு சந்தைக்குக் கொண்டு வந்து மொத்த வியாபாரியிடம் கிலோ 20 ரூபாய்க்கு மொத்தமாக விற்றுவிடுவேன். அவர்கள் அதிலிருந்து லாபம் வைத்து விற்பார்கள். ஒரு மணிநேரத்தில் பணத்தை வாங்கிக் கொண்டு வீட்டுக்கு வந்துவிடுவேன். அடுத்த நாள் அடுத்த 25 சென்ட் நிலத்தில் காயைப் பறிக்க ஆரம்பிப்போம். இப்படி 90 நாள் காய் வரும். பிறகு வரத்து குறைய ஆரம்பிக்கும்போது செடியைப் பிடுங்கிவிட்டு மீண்டும் உழவு ஓட்ட ஆரம்பிப்பேன்.
வெண்டைக்காய் வருடத்தின் அனைத்து மாதத்திலும் காய்க்கும் விதை நாமே தயாரித்தால் மகசூல் கிடைக்காது. கடையில் வாங்கினால்தான் மகசூல் நன்றாக கிடைக்கும். மழை நன்றாகப் பெய்தால் அதிகமாக காய்க்கும் காயும் நன்றாக இருக்கும். ஒரு கிணறு ல்லது அதிகம் உப்பில்லாத ஒரு போர், நிலம் ஒரு ஏக்கர் இருந்தால் போதும், தினமும் நிச்சயம் ஆயிரத்து ஐநூறு சம்பாதிக்கலாம். சில நாட்களில் வெண்டைக்காய் வரத்து குறைந்து கிலோ 40 ரூபாயக்குக்கூட விற்பனை செய்திருக்கிறேன். தக்காளி போல் திடீரென விலை சரிந்து போகாத காய் வெண்டைக்காய்தான். மார்க்கெட்டிலும் நிலையான விலை இருந்து வருவதால் வெண்டைக்காய் விவசாயம் எனக்கு நன்கு கைகொடுக்கிறது. சொந்த ஆள் இருந்து நாமே சில்லறையில் விற்றால் நிச்சயம் தினம் 2 ஆயிரம் சம்பாதிக்கலாம். எனக்கு விவசாயத்தில் வெற்றி கிடைத்தது என்றால் அது வெண்டைக்காய்தான்’ என்று பெருமிதம் அடைகிறார் சம்பத்.

வெண்டைக்காய் பயிரிடும் முறை
அனைத்த நிலத்திலும் பயிரிடலாம். முதலில் நிலத்தை நன்றாக உழவு செய்தபின் தொழு உரம் அதிகம் போட வேண்டும். பிறகு ஒரு அடிக்கு ஒரு செடி வீதம் விதை தூவ வேண்டும். முதல் நான்கு நாட்களுக்கு தண்ணீர் ஈரம் காயாமல் பார்த்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும். பிறகு அடுத்த நாளிலிருந்து நான்கு நாட்களுக்கு ஒருமுறை தண்ணீர் விட்டால் போதும். 25வது நாளில் செடி நன்கு வளர்ந்திருக்கும். அப்போது களை பிடுங்க ÷வ்டும். அதே சமயத்தில் செடியில் பூச்சி தாக்குதல் இருந்தால் மருந்து அடிக்க வேண்டும். சரியாக 45வது நாள் காய் வர ஆம்பிக்கும். இந்த காய் 90 நாட்களுக்கு காய்க்கும். பிறகு காய் வரத்து குறைந்ததும் செடியைப் பிடுங்கி விட்டு மீண்டும் உழுது உடனடியாக செடி விதைக்கலாம். தண்ணீர் நல்ல தண்ணீராக இருந்தால் காய் மிகவும் ருசியாக இருக்கும். மார்க்கெட்டிலும் நம்ம காய்க்கு மவுசு இருக்கும்.

” An Emotional Reunion with Family Members ” ….

It seemed to be a scene taken out from a Bollywood movie but the only thing was that it was real, the story of lost and found.

It was an emotional reunion of 26-year-old Jeet Bahadur, a Nepalese youth, with his family after about 16 years of separation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has had a key role in this reunion.

Bahadur had got lost in India and Modi found him in Ahmedabad. Since then he played the role of a guardian to him, looking after him and ensuring his education and well-being.

Soon after arriving here for a two-day visit, Modi handed over Bahadur to his mother Khagisara and brother Dasharath Sarumagar and younger sister. Dasharath’s wife and children were also present at the emotional reunion.

Religions are set forth in order that people enjoy the benefits of leading a moral life. Religion is a meritorious system that unifies body, mind and intellect. Integrity or wholesomeness of conduct is morality. Morality is also called as Righteousness (Dharma). Practice of morality alone can help the world attain greater levels of prosperity. All religions have the same goal and establish the same truth. Their fundamental duty is to transform a human being into a divine being. Religion brings out the inner transformation in a human being. It aims at developing self-confidence to lead a good life. All religions are built on the secure foundation of morality. If morality deteriorates, not just religions, but humanity as a whole deteriorates. Every individual must practice being good and lead a moral life. Attainment of wealth and prosperity is possible by practicing moral values.

Message For the Day…” Education Without Right Conduct is of No Value …”

All of you are sparks of the Divine. Just as a spark of the fire from the furnace, after a while, turns into ash, you too forget your divine origin. When you pursue your education, you must also pursue spiritual discipline, which will lead you to Divinity. Those that study in Institutions that have a spiritual discipline, must consider themselves extremely fortunate. If you choose to adhere to the ideals learnt and practice even a small fraction of the Lord’s teachings, you will realize the true purpose of education and the true objective of human life. Education without right conduct is of no value. You must make use of what you have learnt, not just for earning a living but also for service to the society. Only then your degrees will have any meaning. Whatever job you take up, wherever you work, you must continue the practice of spiritual discipline and aim for Self realisation.

Message For the Day…” Teach your Tongue Not to criticize anybody…”

You eat food daily, take in thousands of grains! Have you ever calculated how many rice grains you have consumed? However the moment one minute stone comes in the rice you eat, you are very unhappy that day and complain that your food has stones. Similarly your life is three fourths happiness and one fourth sorrow. But you become a victim to sorrow. You choose to give more importance to sorrow than happiness. This is an animal quality (Pashu Lakshanam). Teach your tongue not to lose its reputation by following the wrong path. Your tongue is capable of raising you to Divine or droop to that of an animal. If someone is good to you, the tongue praises them as God Himself. If someone harms you, the tongue then equates them to an animal. Teach your tongue to ever chant the Name of the Lord and never to criticize anybody!

Many feel proud of the enormous growth in education everywhere. Acquiring degrees at great cost and developing contempt for one’s parents out of intellectual pride is not a sign of higher education. Arrogance, envy and ostentation should have no place in an educated person. Humility is the hallmark of true education. The educated must serve people through sweat and toil. Education must inspire youth to offer service, to sacrifice and to help. It must not inspire youth to amass money as its goal, and to travel farther and farther to earn more and more of it. Accumulated money often breeds arrogance and its army of other vices. You cannot crave for peace and happiness and do things that bring unhappiness and worry. Having been born as human beings, you must try to rise above the level of animals and raise yourself to be truly Divine.

A lovely message on ‘Value’ –

I had known a friend of mine who used to say that he misplaces and loses his pen very often.
He will use only very cheap pens so that he need not worry about losing them. He was worried about carelessness habit.
I suggested him to buy the costliest pen he could afford and see what happens.
He did that and purchased a 22 carat Cross pen. After nearly six months I met him and asked him, if he continues to misplace his pen.
He said that he is very careful about his costly pen and he is surprised how he has changed!
I explained to him that the value of the pen made the difference and there was nothing wrong with him as a person!
This is what happens in our life.
We are careful with things which we value most.
* If we value our health, we will be careful about what and how we eat;
* if we value our friends, we will treat them with respect;
* if we value money, we will be careful while spending;
* if we value our time, we will not waste it.
*if we value relationship we will not break it.Carefulness is a basic trait all of us have, we know when to be careful!
Carelessness only shows what we don’t value……

The number of students in schools and colleges has increased very significantly. Formal education, which was for long the privilege of a few scholars and the sons of the rich, is now at the very doors of everyone. People rejoiced when schools and colleges rose up more and more in the countries of the world, without realizing what is happening through them. Unrest, fear and anxiety are increasing because of improper and incomplete education. Education process that does not involve itself in proper values or does not lay stress on morals is dangerous. Consequently, the products of the process, who have no sense of values, gradually enter the positions of higher authority in the administration of nations at very high levels. Hence the world has come to the brink of a disaster. Education can yield peace and prosperity only when along with technical skills and objective information, students are equipped with moral ideals, righteous living and spiritual insight.

Message For the Day…” Wavering Mind Can be Controlled with Spiritual Practice…’

Ignorance has a very powerful influence on the mind. Arjuna said to Krishna, “The mind is very powerful, however it has a wavering nature.” Lord Krishna said, “A bee has the strength to drill a hole in the hardest variety of wood. However when it enters a lotus, if the lotus closes its petals, then even with all its might, the bee cannot come out of it. Similarly once the all-powerful mind comes to the lotus feet of the Lord it becomes powerless and surrenders. However potent or wavering one’s mind may be, it can be and must be controlled with spiritual practice (Sadhana). When Jesus was nailed in the Cross, his followers were deeply pained and in great grief. He said, “Just as this body had a dress, this body is just an attire for the soul. Do not grieve”. He taught his followers, “Do not harm anyone or hurt anyone. Treat everyone alike.” Everyone must practice these teachings.
