Optimist and Pessimist !!!!

Pessimist-and-Optimist

There is a story of identical twins. One was a hope-filled optimist. “Everything is coming up roses!” The other was a said and hopeless pessimist.

The worried parents of the boys brought them to the local psychologist.

He suggested to the parents a plan to balance the twins’ personalities. “On their next birthday, put them in separate rooms to open their gifts. Give the pessimist the best toys you can afford, and give the optimist a box of manure”. The parents followed these instructions and carefully observed the results.

When they peeked in on the pessimist, they heard him audibly complaining, “I don’t like the color of this computer…I’ll bet this calculator will break…I don’t like this game…I know someone who’s got a bigger toy car than this…”

Tiptoeing across the corridor, the parents peeked in and saw their little optimist gleefully throwing the manure up in the air. He was giggling. “You can’t fool me! Where there’s this much manure, there’s gotta be a pony!”

See It To Believe it !!!!

He has stunned audiences with jaw-dropping stunts that defy logic and can make the most skeptical cynic believe in magic.

But in an daring new act, Bradford-born Illusionist Dynamo today took his impressive skills to even greater heights.

The 30-year-old entertainer took in London’s sights by levitating beside the roof of a 15ft double-decker bus.

Defying gravity: Dynamo looks relaxed as he floats beside a 15ft bus. He levitated as the bus crossed London's Wetminster Bridge

It has to be seen to be believed: These amazing pictures, taken by fans from the street (left) and inside the bus (right) show the trick from different perspectives

Thrilling: Smiling fans on the upper deck have a prime view of the stunt, which beggars belief

Astonishing: Dynamo stretches his left arm and his feet dangle in mid-air as the bus moves ahead

Smiling for the cameras, Dynamo, whose real name is Steven Frayne, travelled alongside the two-storey bus with the palm of his hand placed on the roof.

He hung in mid-air with his other arm outstretched as he crossed Westminister Bridge. A police escort cleared the way for Frayne’s daring feat, ensuring there was no traffic around the bus.

Frayne’s awad-winning show documents the tricks he has up his sleeve- from his mesmirising sleight of hand to his ability to walk on water.

He gained notoriety when he ‘walked’ across the Thames in 2011 to promote a new series of his show Magician Impossible.

Frayne has built his name on the celebrity circuit, astounding famous names with his tricks.

His previous tricks have included making Little Britain star Matt Lucas levitate before a live audience at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, and turning signed lottery tickets into cash in front of Robbie Williams and Davina McCall.
Acclaimed: Dynamo has baffled celebrity clients and industry experts with his skills. He was recognised by the magician's society, the Magic Circle, last year

Faith Sees Invisible and Receives The Impossible !!!

A ‘devotee’ wrote a letter to the editor of an Indian newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to the Temple . “I’ve gone for 30 years now, he wrote, and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 mantras.
But for the life of me, I can’t remember a single one of them. So, I think I’m wasting my time and the Gurus are wasting theirs by giving services at all.”

This started a real controversy in the ‘Letters to the Editor’ column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:“I’ve been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals.

But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this… They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work.
If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to the Temple for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!

A physician gives me medicines. I do not know what is in it I definitely do not know ‘how’ it is curing my illness. I have faith in the physician. My faith and the power of the medicine of the physician makes me well. I do not know ‘how’ but I know it ‘does’.”
.
Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and
receives the impossible!

Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual  nourishment!!!!

” It is Time to Repent For Turning Uttarakhand into Honeymoon spot “…..

Sheela Bhatt  from  New Delhi for rediff.com

In a twist to people’s understanding of Uttarakhand’s monsoon mayhem, Dwarka peeth Shankaracharya Swami Shree Swaroopananda Saraswati has blamed the sex-food-fun oriented consumerism propagated by tour operators in the land otherwise known as “dev bhoomi” for the plight of thousands of pilgrims.

In a telephonic interview from his ashram near Haridwar, the Shankaracharya told rediff.com, “Uttarakhand is the land of gods and goddesses. Here Lord Shiva holds Ganga in his jata (hair). It is the highest tapsaya (penance) possible. Shiva bore the force of the Ganga all alone so that she can flow seamlessly. How can you have honeymoon tourism in Uttarakhand instead of pilgrimage to cleanse the soul and attain nirvana?”

Asserting that these mountains were not for the newly-married to enjoy their honeymoon, the religious leader suggested that the disaster was also brought upon due to the dams that have been built on rivers of Uttarakhand.

Dwarka peeth Shankaracharya Swami Shree Swaroopananda Saraswati

He said, “I want government to find out the sphatik statue of Shankaracharya’s samadhi near Kedarnath temple. It is part of our heritage. I am deeply pained to see so many deaths. I want the government to act now and stop promoting dubious tourism. There should be complete ban on building of dams as well.”

Hailing the Kedarnath temple as a national monument, he said: “The rest of India should help Uttarakhand maintain its environment. The lack of development will create shortage of electricity, but the rest of India should supply electricity in this divinely natural region. We must protect our ancient rivers at all cost. Seventy percent of the water from Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers will deplete if we build dams recklessly.”

The Shankaracharya also said that the government should clean the temple complex as soon as possible.

“The government must cleanse the Kedarnath temple with panchamrut (A mixture of milk, curd, clarified butter, honey and sugar). It is time to repent for our wrong deeds.”

Message For The Day….”Egoism is Darkness …Surrender Is Light …”

Arjuna’s dejection was a case of finely disguised egoism. He was a hero until he came to the battlefield and became a coward. It was all about ‘I and Mine’; “I will go to hell, I would rather beg, I will not fight my uncle, my Guru, my cousin, etc.” ‘I and mine’ are two poison fangs; they have to be removed to make you harmless. Krishna counselled Arjuna: “You are not killing, so don’t be conceited, they are deathless; the death sentence on their bodies has already been pronounced and you are merely executing God’s will!” Krishna made Arjuna aware of himself and removed his delusions. Arjuna realized that he was but an instrument in the hands of the Lord. You too must learn from that lesson, for otherwise, there will be no end to your misery. Always pray Thamaso maa jyothirgamaya – Lead me from darkness to light. Egoism is darkness (thamas); Surrender (Sharanagathi) is light.

Laughter the Best Medicine For Stress ….Try this One !!!

There was a man who couldn’t stand his wife’s cat. So, one day, he decided to get rid of him by dumping him a long way away from the house.

He put the cat in the car and drove about 20 blocks away, then he left him at the park. But when he got home, the cat was there as if nothing had happened.

The next day he decided to take the cat somewhere further away, about 50 blocks. He put him out of the car and drove home. And again, the cat was there waiting for him. ‘This is impossible,’ said the man to himself. ‘tomorrow I’ll make sure he can’t come back!’

The next day he puts the cat in the car and he drives around, taking turn after turn – right, left, right, right and so on.Eventually, after about an hour of driving, he finally lets the cat out and drives home.

A few hours later, the phone rings at his house and his wife answers it. It’s the husband, and he asks: “Is the cat there?” “Why, yes.” says the wife, “he’s been here quite a while, where are you?”

“Put that specimen on the phone, I’m lost and I need directions from him !!!!

Why do Finnish Babies Sleep in Cardboard Boxes? !!!!!!!!

Expecting parents are always excited, but can often get stressed out preparing for their upcoming new arrival. The Finnish government has an answer for its citizens, sending every new family a maternity package to help them ease into their new role.
The colorful box doubles as a crib, and contains a wide selection of baby clothes including a snowsuit, hats, socks, mittens, bodysuits, rompers, leggings and shirts.
Considering the freezing temperatures in Finland’s winters, there’s a stack of blankets thrown in there too, along with some childcare products and a bib.
The box has been a rite of passage for new parents since its inception in the 1930s, when it contained fabric for mothers to sew into clothes. Since then it has gone through a number of changes, from cloth to plastic diapers and back again, and the inclusion and subsequent exclusion of pacifiers.
Other perks in the box include a rattle and a colorful, illustrated book – a boost of encouragement for parents to teach their children to read.
The initiative aims to give all Finnish kids a fair and equal start in life, by providing them with the most essential needs: for body, mind and soul.!!!!

Why Plaster of Paris Called So ? !!!

Why is the plaster of Paris called so?

Plaster is the common name for calcium sulphate hemi hydrate made by heating the mineral gypsum, the common name for sulphate of lime. Plaster was first made about 9000 years ago, and has been used by ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilizations. However, it wasn’t used on a large scale until 1700s, when it was required to be used in all construction in Paris. In 1666, a fire raged across London, destroying many parts of it. In its aftermath, the king of France ordered that all walls made of wood in Paris be immediately covered with plaster, as a protection against such fires. This resulted in large-scale mining of gypsum which was available around Paris in huge quantities. Thus, during the early 18th century, Paris became the centre of plaster production, and hence the name, plaster of Paris.

Message For The Day….Humility In Behaviour and Practice counts a Lot ….

The gods once imagined that they were able to get victory over the demons because of their own prowess. When they were celebrating the victory, a deity appeared before them and cast a blade of grass on the ground. It asked Agni (God of fire) to burn it; but he could not. It challenged Vayu (God of Air) to lift it, but he could not. It provoked Varuna (God of Water) to wet it, but, in spite of his best efforts, he could not. Then when their pride had been pricked, the deity taught them the Brahma Vidya (science of Brahman), which reveals the inner source of all strength. This is no ordinary story; Agni is the presiding deity of vaak (speech) and so it tells us that speech has to be humble, that it derives its power only from the basic Universal Principle. Vaayu is prana (the vital air). Humility in behaviour and practice are all that count, especially in Sadhana.

Wimbledon……A Flashback !!!!

They are the kind of outfits neither Maria Sharapova nor Serena Williams would be seen dead in.

But the 1922 Wimbledon Women’s Singles final between Suzanne Lenglen and Molla Mallory was altogether more modest affair by the looks of it.

The French player Lenglen even turned up wearing a fur coat. It must have brought her some good luck – she went on to win 6-2, 6-0.

The image is part of a collection of rare and unseen photographs from the early days of the world’s most famous tennis tournament.

Fast forward to 2013 and the outfits may have got a little racier, and the tennis a lot faster, but the inclement British weather still has the ability to play havoc with the tournament schedule.

Thankfully the forecast for this year’s tournament, which starts on Monday, looks positive with dry and sunny weather expected for much of the week.

Britain’s Andy Murray will be hoping to go one better after losing in last year’s final to Roger Federer.

And the World Number Two will be upbeat after winning Queen’s last week and a draw which means he will avoid Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals.
