When a machine can get rusted without proper use and neglect, will not the human body and mind get rusted if it is not well maintained? Where does the rust come from? Dust accumulates on the machine when it is not used. Then over time the dust gets converted into rust. Due to this rust, the machine loses all its efficiency and productivity. It then needs to be repaired and is so taken to the workshop. There, it is overhauled and then it returns to its best and becomes fully productive. What should you do to become the best you can be? You must remove the rust and dust in you! The rust and dust are the evil intentions and your wavering mind. Submit your body and mind to the Lord, and keep them in good working condition at all times. You will then become the best.

நமக்கு நடப்பவைகளுக்கு நாம் காரணங்களை தெரிந்து கொள்ள முடியாமல் பிரமித்து நிற்கிறோம்.
அறத்தோடு வாழும் எனக்கு ஏன் இப்படி நடக்க வேண்டும்? நான் இதைச் செய்தேனே, அதை செய்தேனே, எனக்கு வெகுமதி கிடைக்காமல் வேதனை அல்லவா வாய்த்திருக்கிறது.
அறத்தை ஒதுக்கி வாழும் அடுத்தவனுக்குப் பரிசா? பலவாறு எண்ணி வேதனையுறுகிறது மனம்.
நானும் பலமுறை இக்கேள்விகளை அனுபவமின்மையால் எழுப்பியதுண்டு. இவற்றிற்கும் இன்னும் பல நூறு கேள்விகளுக்கும் அமரர் வாலியின் மேற்காணும் இரண்டு வரிகளே பதில்.
திரை இசைப் பாடலின் இரண்டு வரிகட்குள் இரண்டாயிரம் கேள்விகளின் பதிலை அடக்கிய அமரர் வாலியின் புலமைக்குப் பல வணக்கங்கள்.
புட்டப்பர்த்தியில் பகவானைக் காணக் காத்திருக்கும் அறையை ஒட்டி இருக்கின்ற திண்ணைக்கு வரண்டா என்ற பெயர். அங்கே மிக மிக முக்கியமானவர்களும், வேண்டப்பட்டவர்களுமே உட்காருவதற்கு அனுமதியுண்டு. வழமையான அங்கு தொடர்ந்து அமர்ந்திருப்பவர்கள் ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட இடத்திலே அமர்வார்கள். ஒருமுறை அப்படிப்பட்ட ஒருவர் பக்கத்திலே நான் அமர்ந்தேன்.
அன்று பகவானின் தரிசனத்திற்காக இரண்டு மணிநேரத்திற்கு மேலாகக் காத்திருந்தோம். அப்பொழுது என் பக்கத்திலிருந்தவரிடம் “மிகுந்த நேரமாகிவிட்டதே இதற்கு மேலும் பாபா வருவார்களா?’ என்று கேட்டேன்.
“பகவானுடைய எந்த நடவடிக்கையையும் நாம் நிர்ணயம் செய்ய முடியாது. அவருடைய ஒவ்வொரு நடவடிக்கையுமு” ஏதோ ஒரு காரணத்திற்காகத்தான் இருக்கும். அதை ரசிக்கும் உரிமை மாத்திரம் தான் உண்டு. ஒரு நிகழ்ச்சியைச் சொல்கிறேன் கேட்டுக்கொள்’ என்றார்.
“அறுபது எழுபதுகளில் நான் பகவானுக்கு ஒரு முகமையாளர் போலப் பணியாற்றிக் கொண்டிருந்தேன். எனக்குக் கீழே ஒரு குமாஸ்தா ஒருவன் பணிபுரிந்து வந்தான். காசோலை எழுதிப் பகவானிடம் கையொப்பம் வாங்கி, அந்தக் காசோலையை மாற்றிச் செலவுக்குக் கொடுப்பது அவனது பணிகளுள் ஒன்று.
செலவு ஐந்நூறாக இருந்தால் எண்ணூராகப் பணமெடுப்பதும், இரண்டாயிரமாக இருந்தால் மூவாயிரமாக பணமெடுப்பதுமாக இருந்த செயலை நான் கண்டுபிடித்தேன்.
எனக்குக் கோபம் ஆத்திரமுமாக வந்தது. அவனை கண்டிக்கவோ வேலையிலிருந்து நீக்கவோ எனக்கு உரிமை இருக்கவில்லை. அவன் தினமும் ஐந்நூறு ஆயிரம் எனப் பணம் கையாடல் செய்ய முற்பட்டான். இதை உடனே பகவானுக்குச் சொல்ல வேண்டுமென்று துடித்தேன். இதைப்ப ற்றிப் பகவானிடம் பேச எத்தனித்த போதெல்லாம் அவர் தள்ளிப்போட்டார். பேசவும் விடவில்லை. எனது நிலை தர்ம சங்கடமாயிற்று. விரக்தியடைந்தேன்.
ஒரு நாள் பொறுக்க முடியாமல் இன்று கட்டாயம் பேசியே ஆக வேண்டும் என்று பகவானிடம் முரண்டு பிடித்தேன். “நாளைக் காலை வா’ என்று பகவான் சொன்னார்கள்.
பகவான் கடவுளாயிருந்தும் கூட, தன் அருகிலேயிருந்து திருடுகிறவனை ஒன்றும் செய்யாமலிருக்கிறாரே என்று நினைத்து எனது பணியிலிருந்து விலகவும் நினைத்தேன். அன்று பகவான் “நாளைக் காலை என்னுடன் உணவருந்த வா’ என்றழைத்தார்கள்.
மறுநாள் காலை அறையினுள் சென்ற பொழுது “கையாடல் பற்றி எனக்குத் தெரியும்’ என்றார்கள். நான் அசந்து போனேன். இருந்தாலும் “நீ சொல்’ என்றார்கள். எல்லாவற்றையும் கொட்டித் தீர்த்தேன்.
பகவான் சிரித்துக் கொண்டே, “உனக்கொன்று சொல்கிறேன் கேள். அவன் வீட்டில் என்னை வைத்து உணவளித்தவன். அவனுடைய நேரம் வந்தவுடன் சில நாள்களில் அவனாகப் போய்விடுவான் அதற்காக நீ துன்பப்படாதே” என்றார்.
“பகவான் எதையும் ஏன்? எதற்காக? அப்படிச் செய்கிறார்கள் என்று நம்மால் நிர்ணயிக்கவே முடியாது. அதனாலே அமைதி காத்து, நீ தரிசனம் பெற்றுச் செல்’ என்றார் முதியவர்.
நமக்கு நுனிப் புல் மேயத்தான் தெரியும் எல்லா விடயங்களையும் ஆழமாகப் பார்த்து அறியும் சக்தி கிடையாது.
நான் பகவானுடைய அன்புக்கு அடிமைப்பட்ட தினத்திலிருந்து பல்வேறு வகையான தொண்டுகளில் ஈடுபட்டேன். பணம் ஒரு பொருட்டாகவே தோன்றவில்லை. ஆனாலும் பெங்களூரிலே வைட் பீல்டிலே முன் வரிசையில் இடம் பிடிக்க படாத பாடுபட்டேன்.
சாதாரண பக்தனாக மட்டும் இருந்த காலம். அப்படியே போய் முன் வரிசையில் அமர்ந்தாலும் சேவா தொண்டர்கள் “நீ யார்?’ என்று கேட்டு என்னைப் பின் வரிசைக்கு அனுப்பி விடுவார்கள்.
ஒருமுறை பாபா நடந்து போகிற பாதையிலே எனக்கு இடம் கிடைத்தது. பாபா விபூதி வரவழைத்து என் கையில் கொடுத்தார்கள். நான் என்னையே மறந்தேன். அந்த விபூதி பெறுவதற்கு நான் ஏழு வருடங்கள் காத்திருந்தேன். அப்பொழுது தெரிந்தது, எதற்காகப் பகவான் எனக்கு முன் வரிசையில் இடம் தராமல் காத்திருக்க வைத்தார் என்று.
அவர் மீது நாம் வைத்திருக்கும் அன்பு கனிய வேண்டும். கனிந்துவிட்டால் அருள் கிட்டிவிடும். பக்திக் கனி கனியும் காலம் அவருக்குத்தான் தெரியும். நான் அவசரப்பட்டு, பாபா உன்னை அருகில் பார்க்க வாய்ப்பு ஏன் கிடைக்கவில்லைஎன்று வீணாக வருந்தினேன்.
பாபாவை இன்னும் அதிகமாக நேசித்தேன். சாயி சேவா என் இரத்தத்தோடு கலந்தது. பகவான் முன் பேசும் வாய்ப்புக் கிடைத்தது. பகவான் எனக்கு மோதிரமும் அணிவித்தார்.
அநாவசியமாகப் பக்தி பழுக்கும் முன் எனக்கும் உன் அருகில் வரும் வாய்ப்புக் கிடைக்க வேண்டுமென்று அழுவது சாமான்ய பக்தர்களின் முதிர்ச்சியற்ற ஒருகுறை. எதற்கும் திருவருள் கூட்டவேண்டும். வள்ளுவர் இதை அழகாகச் சொன்னார்.
வகுத்தான் வகுத்த வகையல்லாற் கோடி
தொகுத்தார்க்குந் துய்த்த லரிது. (குறள் 377)
பிரித்தானியாவின் சிறிய மீன்பிடித் துறைமுகம் ஹல். மீன் பிடிக்க விசைப் படகிலே ஒரு குடும்பம் அங்கிருந்து சென்றது. குடும்ப உறுப்பினர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை ஏழு.
துறைமுகத்தின் அணையை தாண்டிக் கடலுக்குள் சென்றபோது அப்படகு சுழியினுள் சிக்கித் தடுமாறியது. துறைமுகத்தின் அவசர உயிர்காக்கும் படையினருக்குச் செய்திஅனுப்பினர்.
உயிர்க்காக்கும் படையினரும் அவசர அவசரமாகப் புறப்பட்டனர். சாதாரணமாக அந்தப் படையினரின் எண்ணிக்கை ஓட்டுனருடன் சேர்ந்து அறுவர். ஆறாவது நபர் தன்னுடைய கவசங்களை அணிந்து ஏறத் தாமதம் ஏற்பட்டதால் ஐந்து பேருடன் அந்தப் படகு புறப்பட்டது.
தத்தளித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் படகை உயிர்க்காக்கும் படையினர் அணுகிய நேரம் அந்தப் படகு கவிழ்ந்து விட்டது.
கடுமையாகப் போராடினர். அந்த மீன்பிடிப் படகிலிருந்த பதினொரு வயதுடைய பையன் ஒருவன் உட்பட நால்வரைக் காப்பாற்றினர் மூவரைக் காப்பாற்ற முடியவில்லை.
உயிர்க் காக்கும் படையினரில் இருவர் அந்தச் சுழியினால் இழுத்துச் செல்லப்பட்டனர். எவ்வளவோ முயற்சிகள் செய்தும் உயிர்காக்கும் படையிலுள்ள இருவரையும் மீன் பிடிக்கச் சென்றவர்களில் மூவரையும் காப்பாற்ற முடியவில்லை.
உயிர்காக்கும் படை எஞ்சியவர்களோடு துறைமுகம் திரும்பியது.
பல ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன் நடந்த இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியை கருவாக்கித் தலையங்கமாக எழுதிய “சைக்காலாஜிஸ்ட்’ என்ற ஆங்கில மாதப் பத்திரிகையின் ஆசிரியர், “மீன் பிடிக்கச் சென்ற குடும்பத்தில் நான்கு பேர் மாத்திரம் ஏன் உயிர் பிழைக்க வேண்டும்? உயிர் காக்கும் படையில் ஒருவர் மட்டும் ஏற முடியாமல் போனதேன்? உயிர்காக்கும் படையில் ஒருவரை மட்டும் கரையில் விட்டு விட்டு அந்தப் படகு ஏன் செல்ல வேண்டும்? தங்கள் உயிரைச் ச்சமாக மதித்த உயிர்காக்கும் படையினரைச் சேர்ந்த இருவர் ஏன் உயிர் துறக்க வேண்டும்?’ எனக் கேட்டிருந்தார்.
ஆசிரியர் ஏன்? ஏன்? எனப் பல கேள்விகளுடன் தலையங்கத்தை முடித்துவிட்டார். அவரால் விடை சொல்ல முடியவில்லை.
இம்மாதிரியாக நமது வாழ்க்கையில் பல நிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடக்கின்றன. நாமும் விடை காணமுடியாமல் ஏன்? ஏன்? எனற கேள்விகளை எழுப்புகிறோம். போட்டவன் தான் முடிச்சை அவிழ்க்க வேண்டும். நாம் அவன் கைகள் ஆட்டி வைக்கும் பொம்மைதான்.

Message For the Day…” You Must Know What is Right and What is Wrong …”

The world is a mixture of good and bad, of right and wrong, joy and sorrow, victory and defeat. In a world replete with such opposites, you must constantly make the choice between what is right and proper, and what is wrong and undesirable. You must not let yourself be guided by the mind. You must follow the directions of the intelligence. As long as you follow the mind, you cannot attain the Divine. Youth often tend to go by the inclinations of the mind, neglecting their intelligence and consequently are subject to agitations and frustrations. Discrimination is a big help to avoid such situations. Ask yourself “I am a human being; how must I conduct myself in this situation such as to win the respect and regard of others?” and act in accordance. You will certainly find the right answers on what you should do and where you should go. Humility and discrimination are the indexes of an educated person.

கேலி பேசி வாங்கிக் கட்டாதீர்!

சமீபத்தில், மின்சார ரயிலில் பயணித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தேன். அப்போது, பார்வை தெரியாத பெரியவர் ஒருவர், டி.எம்.எஸ்., குரலில், பழைய பாடல்களை, அசத்தலாய் பாடி, கையேந்தி வந்தார். அவரது குரல் வளத்தில் சொக்கிப்போன பயணிகள், ஐந்து ரூபாய், பத்து ரூபாய் என, அவரவர் விருப்பம்போல் வழங்கினர்.
அப்போது, போதையிலிருந்த சில இளைஞர்கள், ‘ஹலோ பிளைண்ட்… இந்த பாட்டை, எந்த, ‘கிளையன்டுக்கு டெடிகேட்’ செய்ய விரும்புறீங்க…’ என, கேட்டு, அவரைக் கலாய்த்தனர்.
இதைக் கேட்ட அந்த பெரியவர், ‘ஊனத்தை கிண்டல் செய்யும், சில ஈனப்பிறவிகளுக்கு, ‘டெடிகேட்’ செய்ய விரும்புறேன்…’ என, நெத்தியடியாக கூற, கூனிக் குறுகிப்போன அந்த இளைஞர்கள், ‘கப்சிப்’ ஆகி, அடுத்த ஸ்டேஷனில் இறங்கி, ‘எஸ்கேப்’ ஆகிவிட்டனர்.
மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகளை, பரிகாசம் செய்ய, எப்படித்தான் இவர்களுக்கு மனம் வருகிறதோ?

Say you are expecting a train, a public transport that is supposed to arrive at 5 o’ clock. It is delayed by a few hours and doesn’t turn up until 8 or 9 p.m. How would you feel then? You first start to complain that the schedules of the trains and buses have no discipline and they don’t turn up on time. Then you start abusing the driver, the department, the government, and talk about it for a couple of days. When you complain so much about a delayed train or a bus which has no life, do you expect the world not abuse you, a conscious individual, when you do not adhere to your discipline, code of conduct and duty? All of you must understand the value of discipline and adhere to it consistently, and pass the test of discipline.

Lessons from a Japanese story

A 15 year old boy decided to study judo despite the fact that he had lost his left arm in a devastating car accident.

The boy began lessons with an old Japanese judo master. The boy was doing well, so he couldn’t understand why, after three months of training the master had taught him only one move.

“Sensei,”(Teacher in Japanese) the boy finally said, “Shouldn’t I be learning more moves?” “This is the only move you’ll ever need to know,” the sensei replied.

Not quite understanding, but fully believing in his teacher, the boy kept training. Several months later, the sensei took the boy to his first tournament.

Surprising himself, the boy easily won his first two matches. The third match proved to be more difficult, but after some time, his opponent became impatient and charged; the boy deftly used his one move to win the match. Still amazed by his success, the boy was now in the finals.

This time, his opponent was bigger, stronger, and more experienced. For a while, the boy appeared to be overmatched. Concerned that the boy might get hurt, the referee called a time-out.

He was about to stop the match when the sensei intervened. “No,” the sensei insisted, “Let him continue.” Soon after the match resumed, his opponent made a critical mistake: he dropped his guard. Instantly, the boy used his move to pin him. The boy had won the match and the tournament.

On the way home, the boy and sensei reviewed every move in each and every match. Then the boy summoned the courage to ask what was really on his mind.

“Sensei, how did I win the tournament with only one move?”

“You won for two reasons,” the sensei answered. “First, you’ve almost mastered one of the most difficult throws in all of judo. And second, the only known defense for that move is for your opponent to grab your left arm.”

The boy’s biggest weakness had become his biggest strength…

Sometimes we feel that we have certain weaknesses and we blame our circumstances or ourselves for it but we never know that our weaknesses can become our strengths one day.

“Each of us is special and important, so never think you have any weakness, never think of pride or pain, just live your life to its fullest and extract the best out of it!”

Cute Little Humming Bird …In a Safe and Kind Hand !!!

This little hummingbird got injured by an attack and was rescued by this young man, who also took care of her and nursed her back to health for months, even catching insects for it to eat every day.

He tells: “When she thought she was ready to leave (and she was) she flew off to her favorite patch of the back yard, and her instincts instantly kicked in, and now she’s just like all the other hummingbirds. for those that are concerned that she has imprinted on humans and wouldn’t survive in the wild, don’t worry, she is thriving. she has even successfully migrated and returned back to my yard.“

We must applaud his patience and kindness, and get inspired ourselves, to save and help any creature we can.

Message For the Day…” Offer Your Egoistic Pride as Sacrifice @ the Altar of the Divine …”

Dedication means offering to the Divine. When you offer flowers to God along with your salutation, it symbolizes offering of the flower of your heart. The flower of the heart is usually subjected to infestation by two evil creatures; they are Ego (Ahamkar) and Jealousy (Asuya). Ego is hard to conquer and arises from seven factors – Wealth, Physical Prowess, Birth, Scholarship, Beauty, Power and Penance. As long as Ahamkara is predominant, it is impossible to recognize the Divinity within. Ego is a great barrier between the individual and God, and must be totally demolished. All forms of pride (particularly that of wealth, scholarship and power) cause human failings and downfall, and hence must be given up totally. Only when egoistic pride is offered as a sacrifice at the altar of the Divine, you can discover your true divine nature.

The bookish knowledge that many feverishly acquire is relevant only for the day of the exam. As you enter your professions armed with this knowledge, you will soon discover that you only have superficial knowledge on any subject and your general knowledge is almost zero. Without general knowledge and practical wisdom, you cannot discriminate. World today needs practical knowledge. Water is formed from two parts of hydrogen and one part of oxygen. You can prove this in the laboratory. But when you sit for lunch, do you mix two parts of hydrogen and one part of oxygen to drink water? By sipping just a drop, you can even comment on the purity of the water and its taste. Thus discrimination and general knowledge is very essential to make sure your daily life and behavior does not have any lapses. You must experience the enjoyable life in the right way at the right time.

Message For The Day…” True Devotion is Free From Selfishness…”

The Universe is a university in which everyone is a student. While you are free to choose any subject you like and acquire degrees in a regular college, in the spiritual field everyone must complete the basic course of the five special subjects and obtain the degree of Divine Love. They are described as the ‘5Ds’ – Dedication, Devotion, Discipline, Discrimination and Determination. Only those who have mastered the five ‘Ds’ are qualified to receive God’s Love. Devotion is not merely singing bhajans or performing puja. True devotion is free from selfishness of all sorts and must not be proclaimed or demonstrated. It is an expression of love from within. You must constantly and lovingly contemplate on God, worship Him and do penance for Him. Service to the Lord is the highest expression of devotion. There is nothing that is not attainable through loving service to the Divine.
