FACEBOOK’s 10th birthday is next week, and to celebrate, TIME has made a calculator that wants to remind you just how much of your life you’ve wasted on the social networking site.

While Facebook doesn’t actually hand over data about how often someone logs in or specific time idling the site, it does give access to the timestamps of everything you have posted.

So it works by going through your posts from the beginning of your Facebook addiction right until today, coupled with an estimate of how many minutes per day you think you spend.

It then spits out a pretty accurate estimation on the time you’ve spent on Facebook. But since it doesn’t account for the time you’ve spent lurking through pictures of that crush of yours, feel free to add even a few gazillion more hours to whatever number you get.

Does this mean I’m a Facebook addict?

Methodology

Facebook doesn’t publicize data on exactly how often a user logs in, though you can bet that they’ve got that information. In lieu of that measurement, this app runs through the timestamps on every post in your feed until it reaches the earliest one, which it uses as the estimated date that you created your profile. Users who are extraordinarily active on the site may get an estimate that is considerably later than the actual date that they joined.

Jealousy will make a person see bad, even in the good! It will bring about your destruction in many ways. Root it out of you at the earliest. If not, the next one to come is ego. Ego destroys discrimination, drives out human qualities, and turns you into a demon. Doubt, jealousy, ego and lack of faith are four very strong evil qualities. Even if any one of those four are present in anyone, without doubt, they will be ruined over time. Develop good conduct and earnestly practice good behavior as much as possible, then you will attain the status of a noble person over time. Never do any work with the desire for money or any other benefit. Expecting the result of work is greediness. The fruit of the action depends upon the action itself. Can you expect 100/100 even before you start studying? Instead of studying keeping marks in view, you must study because it is your duty, and do it with total dedication.

YOU’VE been trunked!

This elephant may have watched one too many of Ashton Kutcher’s famous Punk’dshenanigans, deciding to catch a group of tourists off guard by sneaking up on them.

One thing’s for sure, they were in for a mammoth surprise!

The ginormous photobomb was caught on camera at the Imire Rhino and Wildlife Conservation in Zimbabwe.

The five women, Deb Sulzberger from Australia, Lisa Marie Winther from Norway and Brits Sarah Daly, Jane Burnett and Nicky Walker were oblivious to the seven-tonne bull elephant that loomed over them as they snapped away in the other direction.

Is this the photobomb to end all photobombs?

The moment was captured by fellow volunteer Marcus Soderlund, 24, from Sweden.

“While they were posing for the cameras one of the other handlers got an elephant called Makavhuzi to go up behind them.”

“Eventually they noticed his presence and turned around and reacted with laughs, surprised looks and smiles.”

“Now that’s what you call big brother watching you.”

Message For the Day…” Keep Your Desires Under Control …”

People are deluded by unlimited desires. They live in a dream world, forgetting the Supreme Consciousness. It is very important to keep desires under control and place a ceiling on them. Instead of inordinately spending for our own pleasure, we should offer money for the relief of the poor and needy. Do not make the mistake of thinking that giving away your money for good and noble purposes is all that is needed to practice ceiling on desires. While giving to the needy is good, it is equally important that you do not allow your own desires to continue to multiply; both should happen. You must curtail your desires, as materialistic desires lead to a restless and disastrous life. Desires are a prison. You can be freed only by restraining your wants. Limit them to only what you truly need in life. This is the real meaning of ‘Ceiling on Desires’.

Most Beautiful River in the World !!!

The river shown in the photographs below is Caño Cristales, an amazingly colorful river in Colombia. The river takes on many different colors, including yellow, green, blue, black, but especially red, caused by the weeds at the bottom of the river (Macarenia clavigera).

The river is commonly called “The River of Five Colors”, “The Liquid Rainbow” “The River That Ran Away to Paradise”, and “The Most Beautiful River in the World” due to its striking colors.

This is what Caño Cristales looks like with its beautiful red color. Looks like something straight out of The Bible.

Interestingly, for most of the year the river is actually indistinguishable from any other river.

It’s normally just a bed of rocks covered in dull green mosses in the cool, clear current.

However, for a short period of time every year, the river comes to life in a vibrant explosion of colors.

During the short span between the wet and dry seasons, when the water level is just right, a unique species of plant that lines the river floor called Macarenia clavigera turns a brilliant red. It is offset by splotches of yellow and green sand, blue water, and a thousand shades in between.

The site of the river was effectively closed to tourists for several years because of guerrilla activity in the region along with concerns about the impact of unregulated tourist traffic.

It was reopened to visitors in 2009, and today there are several Colombian tourist agencies that will take visitors of a guided tour of the area.

How Birds Fly in V Formation ….

A new study says birds precisely time when they flap their wings, and position themselves to capture upwash (“good air”) and avoid downwash or (“bad air”).

Birds flying in a distinctive V formation strategically position themselves in aerodynamically optimum positions, and experience positive aerodynamic interactions that maximize upwash (“good air”) capture, according to a study the journal Nature by researchers at Royal Veterinary College, University of London.

The data, captured from free-flying migrating birds using specially developed GPS technology, reveals the mechanisms by which birds flying in V formation can both use areas of beneficial upwash while avoiding regions of detrimental downwash (“bad air”).

These aerodynamic accomplishments were previously not thought possible for birds because of the complex flight dynamics and sensory feedback that would be required to perform such a feat.

Dr. Steven Portugal is lead researcher at the Royal Veterinary College. He said:

The intricate mechanisms involved in V formation flight indicate remarkable awareness and ability of birds to respond to the wingpath of nearby flock-mates. Birds in V formation seem to have developed complex phasing strategies to cope with the dynamic wakes produced by flapping wings.

Dr. Portugal and his team studied a free-flying flock of northern bald ibises (Geronticus eremita), a critically endangered species. They equipped 14 juvenile birds with back-mounted synchronised GPS and inertial measurement devices. The team recorded the position and every wing flap of all individuals within the V during 43 min of migratory flight. The precision of these measurements allowed the relative positioning of individuals in a V to be tracked, and the potential aerodynamic interactions to be investigated at a level and complexity not previously feasible.

” பொன் மாரி பொழிந்த கனகதாரா ஸ்தோத்ரம் ….”

காமாட்சி அம்மனுக்கு மேலே ஒரு காலத்தில் பொன்மயமாக இருந்த விமானம், தங்க ரேக்கெல்லாம் அழிந்து வெறும் செம்பாக இருந்தது.

அந்த கால கட்டத்தில் மடத்துக்கு வசதி போதாது. அன்பர்களும், பக்தர்களும் கொடுப்பதைவைத்து மடம் நடந்து கொண்டிருந்தது.பல நாட்கள் பிட்சா வந்தனத்துக்கு யார் வரப் போகிறார்கள் என்று எதிர்பார்த்துக் காத்திருப்பது கூட உண்டு. சந்நியாச தர்மப்படி அந்த பிட்சாவந்தனத்தை வைத்துத்தான் பெரியவாளுக்கு பிட்சையே நடக்கும்.

எனவே “விமானத்துக்கு தங்கரேக்கைப் பயன்படுத்தாமல் ஏன் வெறும் செம்பாக வைத்திருக்கிறீர்கள்?” என்று பெரியவா மானேஜரைக் கேட்ட போது, “பண வசதி போதாது” என்று அவர் தெரிவித்து விட்டார்.

பெரியவா ஆசாரியை வரவழைத்து எவ்வளவு பவுன் ஆகுமென்று கேட்டார். விமானமெல்லாம் கழற்றிக் கீழே வைக்கப்பட்டது. பார்த்துவிட்டு,ஆசாரி பல பவுன்கள் வேண்டும் என்றார். “அதற்கு எங்கே போவது?” என்ற கேள்விக்குறி பெரியவா முகத்தில். பெரியவாளோ, “பண்ண ஆசையிருக்கு,எப்படி என்றுதான் தெரியலை?” என்று சொல்லிக் கொண்டே இருந்தார்.அந்த சமயம் மகாராஜபுரம் விஸ்வநாதய்யர், பெரியவாளை தரிசனம் பண்ண உள்ளே வந்தார்.பெரியவா கட்டளைப்படி தேவகானம் பொழிந்தார். பெரியவா அவரிடம், “எனக்கு காமாட்சி அம்மனின் விமானத்தை தங்க ரேக்கால் ஒளி வீசச் செய்யணும்னு மிகவும் ஆசையாக இருக்கிறது.இவர்களெல்லாம் அது முடியாத காரியம். பவுனுக்கு எங்கே போவது என்கிறார்கள். பெரிய குறையாக இருக்கிறது.

ஆனால்,உன் பாட்டைக் கேட்டதும் அந்தக் குறை தணிந்துவிட்டது. உனக்குக் கனகதாரா தோத்திரம் தெரியுமோ?” என்று கேட்டார்.

“சுமாராகத் தெரியும்” என்றார் விஸ்வநாதய்யர். அங்கே வந்திருந்த பெண்மணிகளில் சிலர்,”எனக்குத் தெரியும்” என்று முன் வந்தனர். எல்லோரும் சேர்ந்து கனகதாரா தோத்திரத்தை முழக்கினார்கள். அதைச் சொல்லி முடித்தார்களோ இல்லையோ ஒரு அதிசயம் நடந்தது.

அங்கேயிருந்த ஒரு தட்டில் அத்தனை பெண்களும் தங்கள் நகைநட்டுகளைக் கழட்டிப் போட்டனர். “ஆசார்யரது ஸ்லோகத்தை இன்றைக்குச் சொன்னாலும் பொன்மாரி பொழிகிறதே” என்று பெரியவர் புளகாங்கிதம் அடைந்தார். அதை அப்படியே ஆசாரியிடம் அள்ளிக் கொடுத்து ஐந்து நாட்களுக்குள் தங்க விமானம் பண்ணி எடுத்து வா, என்றார்.

அந்த பவுனை எடை போட்டுப் பார்த்தபோது ஆசாரி கேட்ட பவுனுக்கு ஒரு குந்துமணி கூடவுமில்லை, குறையவுமில்லை என்று அதிசயப்பட்டார் ஆசாரி.

சர்வ வல்லமை படைத்த மகானான பெரியவா ஒன்று நினைத்தால் அது நடக்காமல் போய்விடுமா என்ன? ஆறே நாளில் தங்க விமானம் வந்து,கும்பாபிஷேகமும் அமோகமாக நடந்தேறியது.

ஒரு ஏழைப் பெண்ணுக்காக அம்பாள்,அன்று பொன்மழை பொழிந்தாள். இன்று பல ஏழைப் பெண்மணிகள் மனதால் ஒன்றுபட்டு,அம்பாளுக்கு நாம் ஏதாவது செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று விரும்பியது போல் அந்த நிகழ்ச்சி அமைந்தது.
