Susannah Mushatt Jones, 116, from Brooklyn took the title from Jeralean Talley.

A woman in the United States who celebrated her 116th birthday on Monday has officially been recognised as the world’s oldest living person by Guinness World Records.

Guinness World Records has confirmed that Susannah Mushatt Jones of Brooklyn, New York, born on July 6, 1899, is now the world’s oldest living person.

In addition to the early present from Guinness World Records, Jones is celebrating this milestone year with two birthday parties — an intimate gathering of family on Monday and a larger celebration with her housing community, friends and local officials in attendance on Tuesday.

Jones became the record holder at the age of 115 years and 346 days, as of June 17, 2015.

Jones took the title of the world’s oldest living person from Jeralean Talley who died, just 26 days after her 116th birthday at her home in Inkster, a Detroit suburb, on June 17.

Asked for the secret of her longevity, Jones said “sleep!” While she has lost her eyesight and is hard of hearing, Jones is not bed-bound and only takes two medications a day.

Jones, known as ‘T’ to her 100 nieces and nephews, will also become the oldest living female, Guinness said.

Jones was born in Lowndes County, Alabama, to Mary and Callie Mushatt. Her father was a sharecropper who picked cotton to support his wife and ten children.

In 1922, Jones left Alabama for New Jersey before moving to New York City in 1923, finding employment as a live-in housekeeper and childcare provider.

A road bike freestyler risked life and limb while traversing a railing over a 65-ft high cliff for a TV programme that is trying to find the world’s most talented person.

Vittorio Brumotti, who is representing Italy in the interactive talent show, ‘World’s Most Talented’, fought the wind on the seafront during his challenge before safely completing it.

Watched by David Brain, one of the show’s presenters, who filmed the feat on a tablet, the fearless cyclist skilfully jumps onto the top of a wall to begin the stunt

The extreme cyclist put his life on the line and displayed incredible concentration during the stunt

Approaching the railing, the road bike freestyler steadies himself and gets into position with a series of small bunny hops.

As Vittorio, 34, cycles along the narrow railing with one leg in the air for balance, footage from his helmet camera shows the drop to the sea to his right and the jagged rocks that stick out from the wall.

Finally the road bike freestyler reaches the end of the railing and after putting two feet back on the pedals jumps down onto the path safely.

The video concludes with the crowd of observers clapping while David bows and laughs in disbelief at what he has just witnessed.

David said: ‘Going along the edge of a building, that’s not just physical, that’s mental. That blew me away.’

After the stunt Vittorio, a former bike trial world champion, reflected on the dangers involved.

Beachgoers and a film crew looked on in suspense as the 34-year-old completed the stunt

He said: ‘I think about my mum, because it is important to me to come back to my mum. It’s important to have fear, because without fear, you go down.’

Vittorio holds a total of 10 Guinness World Records for his extreme talent and claims to have always enjoyed riding bikes. He once climbed Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower, by hopping up the stairs on his bicycle.

He said: ‘I started when I was eleven years old, my father and mother bought me the first bike and it was magic, this is my dream.’

Highest Observation Deck in the World @ 1821 Feet !!!

Dubai’s Burj Khalifa is the tallest tower in the world at 2,722 feet tall with 160 floors.

And now it also has the highest observation deck on level 148 — a stunning 1,821 feet above the ground. It beat out the previous world record holder Canton Tower with its 1,601 foot high observation deck in Guangzhou, China.

This makes the fourth Guinness World Records title for the Burj Khalifa, including the tallest building, tallest man-made structure, and highest restaurant.

And because it’s not enough just to see the view, the Burj Khalifa put together an entire experience called At the Top, Burj Khalifa SKY.

First, it takes visitors from the ground level of The Dubai Mall to level 125. Not even the elevator ride is boring — the elevators travel at 33 feet per second with special projections that make it appear as though you’re soaring above other global landmarks.

Once you reach Level 125, you have 360-degree views of the city plus more interactive features. You can then get back on another high-speed elevator and shoot up to the 148th floor — the SKY level — for the highest outdoor terrace in the world. The entire experience lasts over an hour.
