Just as underground water wells up in a gushy spring when a bore is sunk down to that depth, by constant repetition of the Lord’s Name, touch the spring of Divinity, and one day, it will gush out in plenty giving you never ending joy.

An Airline Turns Around to Pickup A Child Left Behind @Terminal !!!

An Israeli airline – with the support of everyone on-board – turned around a plane to pick up an 11-year-old cancer patient.

All set to fly to New York August 7 to attend a camp for paediatric cancer patients, Inbar Chomsky, was taken off an El-Al Airlines flight after her passport went missing. Despite a frantic search by airline staff, passengers and the group Chomsky was travelling with, her passport was gone, flight attendants had no choice but to remove the sick girl.

Tears in their eyes, everyone said good bye to the devastated young girl after a half hour search aided by airline staff and passengers failed to turn up the girl’s passport, according to Haaretz.

‘El Al sadly called her mother to tell her that Inbar’s passport was lost and that the girl, who had been fighting illness so valiantly, would not be able to fly to Camp Simcha’ Rabbi Yaakov Pinsky, director of of the Israeli branch of Chai Lifeline wrote in Yeshiva World News. ‘What a horrible experience for an 11 year old girl.’

Minutes after the doors closed and the plane taxied away from the gate, a fellow camper looking through another girl’s backpack found Chomsky’s passport and told flight attendants, according to Haaretz.

What happened next is virtually unheard of, especially post-9/11.

The plane’s pilots immediately stopped the plane, according to Haaretz, and after about 45 minutes were able to convince air traffic control to let them return to the gate to pick Chomsky up, Pinsky wrote.

Still overcoming her disappointment while at the gate with Elad Maimon, program director of the Israeli branch of Chai Lifeline, Chomsky and others watched in disbelief as the plane turned around, said Haaretz. ‘The flight attendants could not believe their eyes,’ Maimon told the paper. ‘They told me they had never seen such a thing.’

‘Planes rarely return to the gate after departing, read an El Al statement, continuing that ‘after consulting with El Al crew on the plane and El Al staff at the airport the decision was made and the plane returned to pick up Inbar.’

Passengers cheered and cried, wrote Pinsky, saying they shared ‘Inbar’s happiness and excitement,’ and calling it ‘one of the greatest moments’ he has ever witnessed.

Everyone’s always whining about how flying sucks now compared to the way it used to be.

Judging from the photo above,, they might have a point.

This photo was tweeted this morning by Soren Dragsbaek Holm. It’s reportedly a shot of an economy-class cabin on a 747 from the 1960s. (The first 747 flew in January, 1970. It’s possible this photo was taken earlier).

UPDATE: Folks on Reddit think the photo is actually a “staged” version of a 747 cabin, which is certainly possible. The cabin has one fewer seat across than today’s cabins, though, and the luggage compartments are smaller, both of which make the cabin look bigger than today’s. So even if it’s a mock-up, it’s likely close to reality. A saved version of the photo here refers to it as a “mock-up,” so perhaps it was used to educate folks as to what flying on a 747 would be like.

UPDATE 2: And hold everything! The photo actually came from a feature that we did a few days ago. It’s from the Pan-Am archives. Check it and others out here.

Of course, when folks pine for the old days of flying, they ignore how relatively cheap and safe this mode of travel has become. Flying cost an arm and a leg in the 1960s. And there were lots more plane crashes.

If people really wanted comfort and service above price today, they’d pony up for First Class or Business Class. And there would be airlines that sold seats on the basis of comfort and service instead of price. But the truth is that the most important factor for most flyers is price. So we get what we pay for.

This actually makes them ludicrous and pitiable. They want their names and deeds to appear in the daily newspapers in big bold letters. Please understand, it is not in the newspapers that you should get attention. Earn your status in the realm of God. Earn fame in the company of the good and godly. If you are forever in the primary class working on A, B, C and other alphabets, how can you understand what the scholars say? Make progress in being humble and in showing reverence towards elders and parents.

“Help Me Mom …I am stuck !!!”….SOS From a Baby Elephant !!!

They say that an elephant’s family ties can be stronger than those of even the closest knit human clan.
And the bond between this elephant calf and its relatives probably saved this youngster’s life when his family rallied round to save him from drowning when he got stuck on a muddy river bank.

With the youngster distressed, mother tries to come to his aid by pushing him up the bank with her trunk.

But the task proves too tricky for her on her own.

Given the animals’ traditionally close family bonds, it is no surprise that two relatives came to the rescue.

The pair managed to flatten the mud around the calf, making it easier for him to climb to safety.

Once the calf is safe, the adult group gather round him as he clings close to his mother’s legs in an adorable show of unity.

Photographer Beniot Goossens, of the Danau Girang Field Centre in Sabah, said that it took all three adults about half an hour to get the baby on its way again.

He said: ‘The mother and baby were crossing the river but the bank proved too steep for the calf.

‘The mother tried to push it but she couldn’t manage on her own so called on two members of her family.

‘While the mother pushed the others flattened the mud to make it more accessible for the calf. About half an hour later they were all on their way.’

Benoit described the sight as ’emotional’.

He added: ‘I’ve been studying elephants for many years but some of the students I was with were blown away by the elephants’ behaviour.

‘It goes to show that animals often take care of each other better than humans.’

Elephants are known for living in tight knit matriarchal families with the adult females looking after their sick, injured, or orphaned offspring.

Like human offspring, calves remain with their mothers until they are teenagers, with some female elephants known to stay with their parent for their entire lives.

Elephants usually give birth to one calf every two to four years with their babies already weighing around 200lbs when born and standing at 3ft tall.
They eventually grow to up to 9.8ft tall and consume a staggering 270kg of food a day.

Asian elephants have been domesticated for thousands of years. The powerful beasts have been employed to move heavy objects, such as felled trees, to carry humans on their backs, and even to wage war.

மனைவி அமைவதெல்லாம்..! முழுவதும் படிக்கவும்!

திருமணம் நிச்சயம் ஆனதிலிருந்தே எல்லா ஆண்களையும் போல நானும் ஒரு வித உற்சாகத்துடனும், பரவசத்துடனும் நாட்களை கடத்தினேன். கனவுகள் வராத நாள் கிடையாது. வரும் பெண்ணை பற்றிய எதிர்பார்ப்புகளும், கற்பனைகளும் சுவாரஸ்யத்தை கூட்டியது. நிறைய பாலகுமாரன் புத்தகங்களை சேமித்து வைத்து இருந்தேன் வருகிறவளுக்கு படிக்க கொடுக்க வேண்டும் ஒருவேளை அவளும் பாலகுமாரன் ரசிகையாக இருந்தால்..? நினைக்கவே சிலிர்ப்பாய் இருந்தது.

கிரிக்கெட்டில் நான் வாங்கிய பரிசுகளை எல்லாம் தூசு தட்டி எடுத்து பார்வையில் படும்படி வைத்தேன். இளையராஜா பாடல்கள் தொகுப்புகளை வாங்கி வைத்தேன். எஸ்.ஜானகி பாடல்களை தனியே பதிவு செய்து வைத்தேன். கேரம், செஸ் போர்டு எல்லாம். இன்னும் பல விஷயங்கள். ஒரு பெரிய கற்பனை கோட்டையில் வாழ துவங்கி இருந்தேன் .

ஒரு சுபயோக சுபதினத்தில் திருமணம் இனிதே நடந்தது..!
விருந்து முதற்கொண்ட சம்பிரதாயங்கள் எல்லாம் முடிந்தது.

கீழ்க்கண்ட உரையாடல்கள் சில தினங்களில் சில தினங்கள் இடைவெளியில் நடந்தது.

புத்தகம் எல்லாம் படிக்கும் பழக்கம் இருக்கா ?

இல்லங்க நான் எந்த புக்கும் படிச்சது இல்ல..!

கிரிக்கெட்டில் நான் வாங்கிய பரிசுகளை பார்வையில் படும்படிதான் வைத்து இருந்தேன்..! அதை பற்றி அவள் கேட்கவேண்டும் நான் பீற்றி கொள்ளவேண்டும் இதுதான் திட்டம்.

ஆனால்..? எதோ வீட்டில் உள்ள காலண்டரை பார்ப்பது, வால் கிளாக்கை பார்ப்பதுபோல அந்த பரிசுகளை கோப்பைகளை அவள் கண்டுகொள்ளவே இல்லை.

அப்புறம் வேறு வழி இல்லாமல் நானே சொல்ல ஆரம்பித்தேன்..!

இந்த கப் எல்லாம் நான் வாங்கினது தெரியுமா..?

எதுக்கு வாங்குனீங்க..?

இதெல்லாம் நான் கிரிக்கெட் வெளையாடி வாங்கினது

மனைவி விசயத்தில் மிகுந்த ஏமாற்றம்…! துளியும் எனக்கு எந்த விதத்திலும் பொருத்தமில்லை .

ஆணித்தரமாய் எனக்கு தோன்றியது இதுதான்

இவள் எனக்கு ஏற்ற ஜோடிஇல்லை .

கணவன் மனைவி இருவரும் இரட்டை மாட்டு வண்டியைபோல என்று சொல்வார்கள் ஒரு மாடு சரியில்லாமல் போனாலும் குடும்ப வண்டி சரியாக ஓடாது என்று. உண்மைதான். நான் இப்படி முடிவு எடுத்தேன் பேசாமல் அவளையும் வண்டியில் தூக்கி உட்கார வைத்துவிட்டு ஒற்றை மாடாக வண்டியை ஓட்ட வேண்டியதுதான். வேறு என்ன செய்வது? எங்களுக்குள் எந்த கெமிஸ்ட்ரியும் ஒர்க் அவுட் ஆகவில்லை..!

பெரிய சுவாரசியம் ஏதுமின்றி நகர்ந்தன நாட்கள் சில மாதங்களில் மனைவி கர்பவதியகவே நிலைமை மாற தொடங்கியது. வீடு உற்சாகத்தில் திளைத்தது ஆளாளுக்கு அவளை கொண்டாட ஆரம்பித்தோம்.

மாசமா இருக்கும்போது என்னவெல்லாம் புடிக்குமோ அதெல்லாம் வாங்கி கொடுக்கணும் புடிச்சதை சமைச்சு போடணும் – இது என் அம்மா

நானும் அவளிடம் கேட்கிறேன்

உனக்கு என்னவெல்லாம் சாப்பிட புடிக்கும் சொல்லு

அதெல்லாம் ஒன்னும் வேணாம்

முன் சமயங்களில் என்ன சமையல் செய்யலாம் என்ற விவாதம் வரும்போது இதையெல்லாம் சொல்லி இருக்கிறாள் நானும் சாதாரணமாய் அதையெல்லாம் மறுத்து இருக்கிறேன் ஆனால் அவளுக்கு பிடிக்குமென சொன்னதில்லை.

இதெல்லாம் உனக்கு புடிக்குமா இதுவர சொன்னதே இல்ல..?

அவள் சிரித்து கொண்டே சொல்ல எனக்குள் சுளீரென ஒரு குற்ற உணர்ச்சி ஏற்பட்டது.

பிரசவம் நெருங்க இயல்பாய் ஒரு பதற்றம் தொற்றி கொண்டது இன்னும் சில தினங்களில் இங்கே ஒரு குழந்தை இருக்கும் என்ற எண்ணமே ஆனந்த கூத்தாட வைத்தது.

நாங்கள் விரும்பிய படியே அழகிய பெண் குழந்தை சுக பிரசவம் தான் .

நான் நினைத்து இருந்தேன் பிரசவம் ஆன பெண்கள் ஒரு வாரம் பத்துநாள் என படுக்கையிலேயே இருப்பார்கள் என ஆனால் இவள் மறுநாளே சாதரணமாக நடமாட ஆரம்பித்தாள் யாராவது பெரியவர்கள் குழந்தையை பார்க்க வந்தால் சொல்ல சொல்ல கேட்காமல் கட்டிலிலிருந்து இறங்கி எழுந்து நின்று கொள்வாள் மரியாதையை நிமித்தமாய்.

இவளில் இந்த செய்கை குறித்து உறவினர்கள் புகழ்ச்சியாய் பேச எனக்கோ மிகவும் பெருமையாய் இருந்தது.

பெண்களின் குணம் எப்படி இருந்தாலும் தாய் ஆன பிறகு எல்லா பெண்களும் ஒரேமாதிரித்தான் இருக்கிறார்கள். கோபம், ஆத்திரம் இவைகள் எல்லோருக்கும் பொதுவானதுதான் ஆனால் குழந்தை கவனிப்பில் எப்போதும் பொறுமை மட்டுமே காட்டுகிறார்கள் நள்ளிரவில் குழந்தை அழுதாலும், மலம் கழித்தாலும் கொஞ்சம் கூட முகம் சுளிக்காமல் கவனிக்கும் தன்மை இயல்பாகவே வந்து விடுகிறது.

குழந்தையையும் கவனித்துகொண்டு எனக்கு செய்யும் பணிவிடைகளிலும் எந்த குறையும் வைக்கவில்லை .

தாய்மை என்ற விசயத்தை என் தாயிடம் உணர்ந்ததைவிட மனைவியிடமே அதிகம் தெரிந்து கொள்ள முடிந்தது. இப்போது அவள்மேல் ஒரு மரியாதையை ஏற்பட துவங்கியது .

வீட்டு வேலைகள் குழந்தை வளர்ப்பு என அவள் சுமை எனக்கு புரிந்தது..!

சில வருடங்கள் போக…! இப்போது இரண்டாவது குழந்தை…! முதல் குழந்தை நார்மல் டெலிவரி ஆனால் இரண்டாவது சிசேரியன்.

இரண்டாவது குழந்தை பிறந்தவுடன் மயக்கத்தில் இருக்கும் அவளை பார்க்க செல்கிறேன் தூக்கம் போலவும் இல்லாமல், மயக்கம் போலவும் இல்லாமல் மூக்கில் எதோ ஒரு குழாய் இருக்க அவள் இருந்த நிலை என்னை ஒரு மாதிரி ஆக்கிவிட்டது. அப்போது நினைத்து கொண்டேன் இவளிடம் இனி எதற்கும் கோபப்பட கூடாது என்ன சொன்னாலும் பொறுத்து கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்று..!

சில பெண்கள் நினைத்து கொள்ளலாம் கணவன் தன்னிடம் அடங்கி போகிறான் என்று..! அப்படி அல்ல…! சில நேரங்களில் மனைவி செய்த தியாகங்களுக்காகவும் அவள் அடைந்த சிரமங்களுகாகவும் மனைவிக்கு செலுத்தும் நன்றி கடனே அந்த அடங்கி போதல். மனைவியை ஜெயிக்க விட்டு அதனால் அவள் அடையும் சந்தோசத்தை ரகசியமாய் பார்த்து ரசித்து கொள்ளுதல் எல்லாம் ஒரு நன்றி கடன்தான்.

இரண்டு குழந்தைகள், வீட்டு வேலைகள், குழந்தை படிப்பு, பாடம் சொல்லி கொடுத்தல், எல்லாவற்றையும் சமர்த்தாக கவனித்துகொள்ளும் அவளிள் அந்த மனைவி , இல்லத்தரசி என்ற ஸ்தானத்தின் பிரம்மாண்ட விஸ்வ ரூபத்தின் முன் ”நான்” கொஞ்ச கொஞ்சமாக நலிந்து கொண்டு இருந்தேன். பால குமாரன், கிரிக்கேட், எஸ்.ஜானகி எல்லாம் என் கவனிப்பில் இருந்து விலகி செல்ல..!

ஒற்றை மாட்டு வண்டியாக குடும்பத்தை ஓட்ட நினைத்தேன் ஆனால் சில சமயங்களில் அவள் ஒற்றை மாடாக வண்டியை இழுக்க நான் அதில் பயணம் செய்வதாக உணர்ந்தேன்.!

A day after the Independence Day, the Queen’s durbar was in session.
To her left sat mauni baba with his head down and his eyes looking at his feet.
To her write sat the yuvraaj, the man who refused to grow up, fiddling with his new Apple iPhone.
Standing in front of her was the man who always wore the white veshti.

“So why is your veshti not spotlessly white today,” asked the Queen as she started the proceedings for the day.
“Oh, yesterday the wife decided to host an Independence day lunch and asked me to get two kgs of onions,” replied the man who always wore the white veshti, rather matter of factly.

“So?” asked the queen.
“Well, after buying two kgs of onion, I did not have enough money left to buy a Surf Excel sachet. You know, to wash one veshti properly takes one sachet.”

“Oh. I don’t know what this Power Man is upto. He doesn’t seem to understand that many elections have been lost on the price of onions,” lamented the queen.

“Yes madam,” replied the man who always wore the white veshti. “But he will win only if the onion prices keep going up.”

“Anyway so tell me what are we going about the rupee?” asked the Queen. “I gather this morning it even touched 62 to a dollar.”

“Rupee, rupee, rupee,” the yuvraaj said before the man who always wore the white veshti could say anything. “Robert keeps talking about them all the time.”

“Shh! Shutup,” said the queen. “Ah. I so wish that my son had married and my daughter had not.”
“Madam we are doing a lot of things to stop the fall of the rupee.”

“Like what?”

“On Wednesday I got the Reserve Bank to put in capital controls.”

“Capital controls”

“Yeah. Like Indian citizens can no longer buy property abroad.”

“That’s good. Anyway there is so much land in the country, why do they need to buy property abroad,” replied the queen. “They can always buy land in Gurgaon.”

“Like Robert, like Robert,” the yuvraaj interrupted again.

The man who always wore the white veshti ignored the interruption and carried on with his explanations.

“We also slashed the amount of money Indian citizens can remit abroad every year to $75,000, from the earlier $200,000. We have raised the import duty on gold and silver to 10%. We have also made it more difficult for Indian companies to invest abroad. All this to make sure that the demand for dollars goes down and the rupee recovers.”

“But it doesn’t seem to be helping,” said the queen. “Does it?”

“You know Ma, what this reminds me of?” the yuvraaj got into the conversation again.

“What beta?” asked the Queen lovingly.

“I recently read this lovely book called Through the Looking Glass, written by Lewis Carrol.”
“Good beta. You should read more instead of fidgeting around with that phone of yours all day long.”
“And the book had a Queen.”

“Really? Like me?”
“Yes, the Red Queen. And there is something that she says in the book that makes immense sense.”
“And what is that beta?”

“As the lines from the book go: “”A slow sort of country!” said the (Red) Queen. “Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!””

“Ah, smart boy. Now I really know what is happening. We are not running fast enough. Also let the records of the meeting show that I said that. It’s such a smart thing to say.”

“Yes Madam. That’s what I have been trying to tell Subbu of the Reserve Bank,” said the man who always wore the white veshti, trying to save himself and pass on the blame.
“Call Subbu here at once,” roared the Queen.

“Yes Madam, in fact he is waiting outside,” said the man who always wore the white veshti.

So within five minutes Subbu was brought in. He looked very happy with not a care in the world.

“So Mr Subbu will you care to explain why are we not running fast enough when it comes to preventing the rupee fall,” asked the Queen.

“Madam, to be honest, there is nothing much we can do. The solution to the crisis is very simple. We need to cut down on our oil imports, our coal imports, our edible oil imports and our fertilizer imports. And I guess you know what will happen if we do that? At the same time we need to increase our exports manifold. And that won’t happen unless the physical infrastructure is improved. We need better ports, better roads and a better rail network. All this is not going to happen overnight, given that it has not happened in years. Also, Indian companies have borrowed too much money in dollars and all that needs to be repaid now. The NRIs are also looking to withdraw all the money they had deposited with Indian banks,” came a long answer from Subbu till he was stopped by the yuvraaj.

“In short we are screwed,” exclaimed the yuvraaj.

“So the demand for dollars will continue. The rupee will continue to be under pressure. We cannot sell dollars to control the rupee fall because we have just enough dollars to cover around six and a half months of imports. And that is a very low level. So we can only run to keep in the same place. In fact, we may not be able to do even that,” said Subbu, very matter of factly.

“Oh. But you could still do something about it?” asked the Queen.

“Madam, my time is up. I am going back to Telangana. I have bought a nice house in Nizamabad. And will spend the next few years watching the mythological movies of the late NT Rama Rao garu. It’s up to the Professor now,” said Subbu as he left the room.

“And why is the stock market down by more than 500 points this morning?” asked the ‘worried’ Queen again.
“Basically the foreign investors have now started to fear that we may not allow them to take their money back.”
“Oh, but why? I know of no such plans.”

“Madam, we have reduced the amount of money that Indians could remit abroad to $75,000 from $200,000. So the belief in the market is that our next step will be not allowing foreign investors to take their money back.”

“So?”

“So they are selling out of the stock market, converting their rupees into dollars and taking their money back, before we do any such thing. A similar things seems to be happening in the bond market.”

“Ah. All seems to be going wrong for me,” lamented the Queen. “I had such great plans for the yuvraaj.”
“Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be),” played on yuvraaj’s iPhone as the Queen decided to call it a day.

And finally the mauni baba woke up and said something.
“When we don’t know where we are going the journey is the reward.”

Message For The Day….Concentrate on Your Mind Too !!!

Each and every one of you has a great deal of concentration. For, every task requires concentration and every one of you have benefitted from it. The carpenter, the weaver, the clerk, the boatman, the scientist, all have it, greater or lesser, and use it in their daily lives. You must learn to apply it towards your own mind also. Direct the mind towards its own working, examine it and train it to restrict itself to good company, good thoughts and good deeds. Practise meditation on any Form of the Lord, and repeat any Name of the Lord, with the awareness of its sweetness. That will teach the mind to be sharp, and produce good music out of the joys as well as the grief that are incidental to life.
