Joke for the Day …

A man goes on a 2-month business trip to Europe and leaves his cat with his brother. Three days before his return he calls his brother.

Brother 1: So how is my cat doing?

Brother 2: He’s Dead

Brother 1: He’s Dead! What do you mean He’s Dead! I loved that cat. Couldn’t you think of a nicer way to tell me! I’m leaving in 3 days. You could  have broken the news easier. You could  have  told me today that she got out of the house or something. Then when I call you before I leave you could have told me, Well, we found her but she is up on the roof and we’re having trouble getting her down. Then when I call you from the airport you could have told me, The Fire Department was there and scared her off the roof and the cat died when it hit the ground.

Brother 2: I’m sorry…you’re right…that was insensitive I won’t let it happen again.

Brother 1: Alright, alright, forget about it. Anyway, how is Mom doing?

Brother 2: She’s up on the roof and we’re having trouble getting her down.

Brutal, life-threatening cold descended over the East and the South, sending the mercury plummeting on Tuesday into the single digits and teens from New York and Washington to Atlanta, Nashville and Birmingham – where many people have little experience in dealing with freezing weather.

After pounding the Midwest and Great Lakes over the weekend, snow from winter storm Ion started to move into the East on Tuesday.

The morning weather map for the eastern half of the U.S. was dotted with lots of small, negative numbers with the Midwest and the East were colder than much of Antarctica.

The historic freeze shuttered schools, businesses and made road conditions treacherous. More than 3,700 flights – around one out of every 10 domestic departures – were canceled on Monday with delays continuing today. The majority of cancellations were in Chicago, Cleveland, New York and Boston.

Joke For the Day !!!

Good one…… Probably you would have already read it. Still ……..

A Budding Politician  (BP)  walks into ABCC Bank to cash a cheque. As he approaches the cashier he says, “Good morning Ma’am, would you please cash this cheque for me?”

Cashier: “It would be my pleasure sir. Could you please show me your ID?”

“Truthfully, I did not bring my ID with me as I didn’t think there was any need to. I am Leader of the ….. Party. Future  OF  India….

Cashier: “Yes sir, I know who you are, but with all the regulations and monitoring of the banks because of imposters and forgers and requirements etc., I must insist on seeing your ID.”

BP : “Just ask anyone here at the bank who I am and they will tell you. Everybody knows who I am.”

Cashier: “I am sorry sir but these are the bank rules and I must follow them.”

BP: “I am urging you, please, to cash this cheque.”

Cashier: “Look Sir here is an example of what we can do. One day, Sachin Tendulkar came into the bank without ID. To prove he was Sachin he pulled out his bat and played a beautiful shot across the bank. With that shot we knew him to be Sachin and cashed his cheque.”
“Another time, Mahesh Bhupati came in without ID. He pulled out his tennis racquet and played a fabulous shot when the tennis ball landed in my cup. With that shot we cashed his cheque.
So, sir what can you do to prove that it is you, and only you, future of India , Budding Politician?

BP stands there thinking, and thinking, and finally says:
“Honestly, my mind is a total blank… There is nothing that comes to my mind. I can’t think of a single thing. I have absolutely no idea what to do; I just don’t have a clue”.

Cashier: ‘Sir, 500 or 1000 rupee notes?’

Message For the Day…” Knowledge of Spirit (atma) is True Knowledge “…

Since ancient times, emphasis has been laid on three aspects: work, worship, and wisdom. What is wisdom? All that is related to our senses – the fleeting objects of the material world and our actions, speak of our ignorance. Wisdom dawns the moment the mind is withdrawn. The thoughtless state between two consecutive thoughts is Spiritual Wisdom (Brahma Jnana). People are not able to experience this thoughtless state and are carried away by fleeting, ephemeral, and momentary things. All the knowledge that one acquires is not true knowledge. Knowledge of the Spirit (Atma) is true knowledge. True wisdom dawns when all thoughts are decimated. However all three of these – work, worship, and wisdom, begin with service. No matter what service it is, if it is done with love and divine feelings, it becomes upasana (worship

So far the best photo I have taken of a snowflake . . . Jan 5, 2014 in Saint Joseph, Michigan.

The shape of snowflakes is influenced by the temperature and humidity of the atmosphere. Snowflakes form in the atmosphere when cold water droplets freeze onto dust particles. Depending on the temperature and humidity of the air where the snowflakes form, the resulting ice crystals will grow into a myriad of different shapes.

“Polar Vortex” Causes Coldest Winter in USA…Arctic MondayFor 140 Million People !!!

More than half of the U.S. is enduring a dangerously cold start to the week as a whirlpool of frigid, dense air known as a ‘polar vortex’ descended on Monday morning, pummeling parts of the country with a dangerous cold and adding to the brutal weather that has grounded more than 4,400 flights.

Record low temperatures have already been set; at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, temperatures of minus 16 degrees were recorded at 8am on Monday, beating the previous record of minus 14 set in 1988.

In Minnesota, officials took the rare step of closing all of the state’s public schools on Monday – the first time in 17 years. Schools across Chicago, Milwaukee and St Louis were also closed, while officials in Washington D.C. and as far south as Atlanta have announced school closures for Tuesday.

With wind chill warnings stretching from Montana to Alabama, much of the U.S. is experiencing the coldest temperatures in almost 20 years, according to the National Weather Service. They are expected to be 30 to 50 degrees below average in some cities – and the deep freeze is expected to last into Tuesday.

  • Nearly 187 million people, more than half of the nation’s population, were under a wind chill warning or advisory on Monday
  • The coldest temperature reported in a 24-hour period through Monday was -36 degrees at Crane Lake, Minnesota, while the warmest was 84 at Hollywood and Punta Gorda, Florida
  • Minnesota officials took the rare step on Monday of closing all public schools; schools in St. Louis, Chicago and Milwaukee were also shut and schools in Washington D.C. and Atlanta will also be closed on Tuesday
  • Thousands of flights have been canceled and JetBlue shut down its operations in Boston and New York-area airports in an attempt to correct the backlog of canceled flights; it will resume as normal tomorrow
  • Experts have called the temperatures and freezing winds ‘dangerous and life threatening’ – warning that skin can freeze in just ten minutes in wind chills of minus 50; parts of Minnesota could be hit with wind chills of minus 60
  • New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency covering 13 counties in the western part of the state on Monday afternoon and more than 300 Army and Air National Guard have been mobilized

“If You Think That These Kids are Having Fun , You Are Wrong “…

Think about the children that moan and groan about getting up for school in the morning. Now, think about this: there are children from around the world that daily risk their lives, just so they can get an education. They walk miles after miles, climb rope bridges and even zip line to get to class, all to do something that countless American students have handed to them on a platter.

This will make waiting at the bus stop look easy.

An education can be life-changing, not only for children in third world countries but for also kids you may know yourself. Never underestimate what one can do.
