இதை மாற்றினால் போதும்!

ஒரு பக்கம் சாஸ்திர நம்பிக்கையுள்ள கட்டுப் பெட்டிகள், மறுபக்கம் நவீனக் கல்வி படித்தவர்கள் என்று பிரிந்திருப்பதே தவறு. சாஸ்திரத்தில் நம்பிக்கை மட்டுமில்லாமல், நாமே எல்லா சாஸ்திரங்களையும், வித்யைகளையும் படித்தால் கட்டுப்பெட்டிகளாக இருக்க வேண்டியதேயில்லை. அதனால் அவற்றையும் படித்து, மாடர்ன் ஸயன்ஸ்களையும் படித்து, இந்த ஸயன்ஸிலும் நிறைய அம்சங்கள் நம் சாஸ்திரங்களில் இருக்கின்றன என்பதைப் புரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும். இதே மாதிரி ஸயன்ஸ்காரர்களும் சாஸ்திரங்களைப் படித்துப் புரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்பது என் ஆசை. இதற்காக பகவானைப் பிரார்த்தனை பண்ணுகிறேன். ஒன்றுக்கொன்று ‘காம்ப்ளிமென்டரி’யாக பழசும் புதிசும் இட்டு நிரப்பிக் கொள்ள வேண்டும்.

நானும் சரி, மற்றவர்களும் சரி எவ்வளவு பேசினாலும் லெக்சரால் கல்சர் (கலாசாரம்) வளராது. படிப்பதாலும் வளராது. நமக்கென்று காரியத்தில் பின்னி வைத்திருக்கிற அநுஷ்டானங்களைப் பண்ணினால்தான் சித்த சுத்தி ஏற்பட்டு, நாம் படிப்பதில் ஸாரம் எது என்று புரிந்துகொண்டு அதைக் கிரஹித்துக் கொண்டு கல்சரை வளர்க்க முடியும். பிற தேச விஷயங்களில் எதை எடுத்துக் கொள்வது என்று பரிசீலித்து முடிவு செய்வதற்கு அஸ்திவாரமாக முதலில் நம் சாஸ்திரப்படி வாழ முயற்சி பண்ண வேண்டும்.

இக்காலத்தில் ஆஹாரம், விஹாரம், வாஹனம் எல்லாமே மாறித்தான் விட்டது. அத்தனையும் நம் பண்பாட்டுப்படி மாற்ற முடியுமா என்று மலைப்பாயிருந்தாலும், கொஞ்சம் strain பண்ணிக் கொண்டாவது (சிரமப்படுத்திக் கொண்டாவது) சிலதையாவது மாற்ற ஆரம்பிக்கத்தான் வேண்டும். நம் மதத்துக்கு ஆதாரமான ஆசாரங்கள், ஆஹார சுத்தி முதலியவை, பழக்கத்தில் இருந்தால்தான் போஷிக்கும். முதலில் லெக்சராகவும் அப்புறம் லைப்ரரியில் புஸ்தகமாகவும் மட்டும் இருந்தால் வெறும் வறட்டுப் பெருமை தவிர பிரயோஜனமில்லை.

நான் சொல்கிறபடி மாறுவது ஒன்றும் பெரிய கஷ்டமில்லை. ஒரே ஒரு அம்சத்தை மட்டும் நாம் பிடிவாதமாக மாற்றிக் கொண்டு விட்டால் இது ஸாத்யம்தான். ‘பணம்தான் பிரதானம்’ என்பதே அந்த அம்சம். பணமே குறி என்று நாம் இறங்கின பிற்பாடுதான் ஆசாரங்கள், வித்யா ஞானம் எல்லாமே போய்விட்டன. நம் தேசத்தில் பணம் முக்யமாய் இருந்ததேயில்லை. லௌகிக வாழ்க்கையை ஆத்ம அபிவிருத்திக்கு உபாயமாக மட்டும் வைத்துக் கொள்வதுதான் நம்முடைய தேசாசாரம்.

Devotion these days appears more as a way of spending one’s time rather than as the royal road to the eternal mansion of the Divine. You need not make much effort to grow grass. But to raise a useful crop you have to labour hard. Likewise, it is no great achievement to experience the trivial and transient pleasures of mundane existence; it is like growing grass. You must strive to cultivate the nectarous and lasting bliss of divine Love. Those who aspire for such love are not easy to find. All appear as devotees. But the one who has experienced the Divine Principle will not go after sensuous pleasures.

White House Hails Undocumented Delhi Girl as 'Champion of Change'

New Delhi-born Pratishtha Khanna

New Delhi-born Pratishtha Khanna, who came to the US illegally at the age of 10, is one of 10 local “Champions of Change” honoured by the White House for their exemplary leadership in their communities.

All the 10 honoured on Tuesday were what are called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) recipients under a programme initiated by President Barack Obama through a memo signed on June 15, 2012.

The programme requires the US immigration authorities to defer removal action for certain undocumented young people who came to the US as children and have pursued education or military service in the country. They are also often referred to as “DREAMers” as most of them meet the general requirements of the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act.

“These DACA recipients serve as success stories and role models in their academic and professional spheres,” the White House said.

Ms Khanna from Laurel, Maryland for one, is currently a senior at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and will graduate in May with a BS in Biology.

She is an active member of the API Youth Convening-DACA Collaborative planning committee and the Maryland Dream Youth Committee (MDYC).

She is also a member of Dreamers for DREAMers student organization at UMBC.

After graduation, Ms Khanna will be working (thanks to DACA) as an Emergency room medical scribe and will pursue a Certified Nursing Assistant Programme at Howard Community College. She hopes to attend medical school in Fall 2017.

“These Champions distinguished themselves through their community involvement and the hard work they put into helping other members of their academic and professional communities succeed,” White House said.

The White House event was intended to “showcase these inspirational young leaders and highlight the importance of providing talented young people with the opportunity to realise their full potential.”

The White House said it created the Champions of Change programme to feature individuals doing extraordinary things to empower and inspire members of their communities.

Never forsake your parents till your last breath. Even if they didn’t provide for all you asked and wished, you must love them. Your mother has undergone many hardships for your sake. She nourished you in many ways. Forgetting or ignoring your mother is the worst of sins. Father has worked hard to take care of you and raise you. Never make your parents feel distant from you. Love and respect them at all times. You must satisfy the needs of your parents, using the education they gave you. Their satisfaction will give you infinite joy. Do not believe your friends to be your everything – as long as you have money in your pocket, they are your friends. When you are penniless, most of them will bid goodbye.

வாரியாரின் நகைச்சுவை பொதிந்த சொற்ப்பொழிவுகள், கருத்துக்கள் எக்காலத்துக்கும் நிலைத்து நிற்பவை.அப்படிப்பட்ட வாரியாரின் கருத்துக்கள் கொஞ்சம் இங்கே உங்கள் பார்வைக்கு.

‘கம்’ முனு இரு: “கம்முனு சும்மா ஒரு. எல்லாம் தானே நடக்கும்” என்று பேச்சுவாக்கில் சொல்வதுண்டு. உண்மையில் “கம்” எனபது

விநாயகரின் பீஜ மந்திரம். “ஓம் கம் கணேசாய நம” எனபதாகும். ‘கம்’ என்ற விநாயக மந்திரத்தை உச்சரித்து கொண்டே இருந்தால், எல்லா காரியங்களும் மங்களமாகவே முடியும் என்ப்தே இதன் பொருள்.

உலாவ இடமா இல்லை : “வெள்ளிப் பனிமலையின் மீதுலாவுவோம்” என்று பாடினார் பாரதியார். அங்கு ஏன் உலாவ வேண்டும்? உலாவ பீச்,பார்க் என்று எத்தனையோ இடம் இருக்கிறதே? அங்கெல்லாம் உலாவுவோம் என்று ஏன் எழுதவில்லை. காரணம், பாரத தேசத்தின் அந்தப்புற எல்லையாக இருக்கிறது பனிமலை. அங்கே இருப்பவர்கள், நாட்டை காக்கும் இராணுவ வீரர்கள். அவர்கள் எல்லாம் ஒரே இடத்தில் இருந்தால், பகைவர்கள் நுழைந்து விடுவார்களே.அதனால்தான் வெள்ளிப் பனி மலையில் உலாவிக் கொண்டே, நடந்து கொண்டே இருக்க வேண்டும் என்பதற்க்காகத்தான் பாரதி இப்படி பாடினான்.

வேறுபாடு இல்லா பெண் உலகம் : எல்லா வேறுபாடுகளும் ஆண் உலகிலேயே காணப்படுகின்றன. பெண் உலகுக்கு இந்த வேறுபாடுகள் கிடையாது. ஐயர்,செட்டியார்,நாயுடு, முதலியார் முதலிய ஜாதிப் பெயர்கள் எல்லாம் ஆணின் பெயரை ஒட்டியே வருகின்றன. பெண் எந்த ஜாதியை சேர்ந்தவராக இருந்தாலும் மீனாட்சி அம்மாள், காமாட்சி அம்மாள் என்றுதானே வழங்குகின்றன.

அதிகம் எது? : பாண்டவர்கள் ஐந்து பேர். கவுரவர்கள் நூறு பேர். அந்த காலத்திலேயே நல்லவர்கள் ஐந்து பேரும், கெட்டவர்கள் நூறு பேரும் ஆக இருந்தார்கள். இப்போது கேட்கவா வேண்டும்?

கள் தேவை : கள்ளை குடித்தால்தான் போதை எனபது இல்லை. ‘கள்’ என்று சொன்னாலே பலர் மயங்கி விடுகிறார்கள். “நீ” என்பதற்க்கு பதில் நீங்’கள்’ என்று சொல்லிப்பாருங்கள். எல்லாம் அந்த ‘கள்’ செய்யும் வேலைதான்.

சினிமா: இப்போதைய சினிமாக்களை (கவனியுங்க!) பணம் பண்ணும் சாதனமாக ஆக்கிவிட்டார்கள். சினிமாக்கள் மூலம் நல்ல கருத்துக்களை இந்த சினிமாக்காரர்கள் சொல்லாமே? ஏன் சொல்லத் தயங்குகிறார்கள்? நான் ஆயிரம் சொற்பொழிவு நடத்துவதும் சரி, ஒரு நல்ல சினிமா வருவதும் சரி. பணம் சம்பாதியுங்கள். அதே சமயம் சமுதாயத்தையும் உருப்படவிடுங்கள்.

பதவி அலைச்சல்: ராமபிரான், ஆட்சியே வேண்டாம் என்று, பெரிய பதவியை துறந்து தந்தை சொல்லைக் கேட்டு காட்டுக்கு போனார். ஆனால், இப்போது சிலர் பிள்ளையார் கோவில் அறங்காவலர் பதவிக்கே அலையாய் அலைகிறார்கள்.

சாமியார் பட்டம்: கலெக்டரிடம் சினேகம் பண்ணுபவனுக்கு மக்கள் மதிப்பு கொடுக்கிறார்கள் அதுபோல, கடவுளிடம் பழகுபவனுக்கும் மக்கள் மதிப்பு கொடுக்கிறார்கள்.ஆனால், தினமும் விபுதி கொடுப்பவனையே சாமியார் ஆக்கி விடுகிறார்களே!.

நாத்திகவாதிகள் வாழ்க: இறைவனை எதிர்த்து பேசி வருவதால், இறைவனின் புகழ் மேலும் வளரும். ஆதலால், இறைவனை எதிர்ப்பவரும் இறைத்தொண்டுதான் செய்கின்றனர். குடையை விரித்து யாரும் சூரியனை மறைத்து விட முடியாது.

கோவில் எதற்கு? : இறைவன் எங்கும் நிறைந்திருந்தாலும், கோவிலில் உள்ள திரு உருவத்தில் விளங்கித் தோன்றுகின்றான். பசுவின் உடம்பில் பாலைப் பெற முயற்சி செய்கின்ற ஒருவன், பசுவின் கொம்பையோ, காதுகளையோ,வாலையோ வருடினால் பால் கிடைக்குமா? எனவே, பசுவின் பால் பெற விரும்புவோன், பசுவின் மடியை வருடிப் பால் பெறுவது போல, இறைவனின் அருளைப் பெற விரும்புவோன், கோவில் சென்று இறைவன் திருமுன் நின்று வழிப்பட்டு திருவருளைப் பெறுதல் வேண்டும்.

வாரியாரின் அர்த்தமிக்க, அற்புதமான கருத்துக்களை உள்ளடக்கிய வார்த்தை விளையாட்டுகள்தான் மக்களிடம் ஆன்மிகம் எளிதாக சென்றடைய காரணம் என்பது உங்களுக்கு விளங்குகிறது அல்லவா?

தன் குரலை வைத்து ‘மிமிக்ரி” செய்பவர்களை (செய்துவருபவர்களை) பற்றி வாரியார் பின்வருமாறு கூறி இருக்கிறார்.

“என் குரலை நிறைய பேர் “மிமிக்ரி” கிண்டல் பண்ணுகிறார்களே. அதை நான் கிண்டல் என்று சொல்லமாட்டேன். கஷ்டப்பட்டு பயிற்சி செய்து என்னைப் போலவே பேசுகின்றார்களே. அதை எண்ணி ஆச்சரியப்படுவேன். பேசினால் பேசட்டுமே. “முருகா,முருகா” என்று அவர்கள் சொல்லித்தானே ஆக வேண்டும். அது அவர்களுக்குப் புண்ணியம் அல்லவா?

நமக்கு நாமே…..

ஒரு தவளைக் கூட்டத்திடையே ஒரு போட்டி ஏற்பாடாகியிருந்தது. அந்த ஊர்க் கோயில் கோபுரத்தின் உச்சியில் யார் முதலில் ஏறுகிறார்களோ அவர் தான் வெற்றி பெற்றவர். “நான்”, “நீ” என்று நூற்றுக்கணக்கான தவளைகள் “சோடா பாட்டில்” உற்சாகத்துடன் கலந்து கொள்ள வந்தன. சிறிது தூரத்திலேயே உற்சாகம் `புஸ்ஸென`ப் போய் பெரும்பான்மைத் தவளைகள் போட்டியிலிருந்து பின் வாங்கின. “இந்தக் கோபுரத்திலா? அதன் உச்சியிலா?” சலித்துக் கொண்டே விலகி விட்டன.

“எனக்கு அப்பவே தெரியும் ஒன்னால முடியாதுன்னு. என்ன மாதிரிப் பேசாம இருக்க வேண்டியது தானே? பெரிய வீறாப்பு எதுக்கு? வந்தோமா பேசாமப் போட்டிய பாத்தோமான்னு இருக்கறத விட்டுட்டு” விலகி வந்தவைகளைப் பார்வையாளர்கள் கிண்டல் செய்தன.

கோபுர அடி வாரம் வரை வந்தது நான்கைந்து தவளைகளே. அதிலும் முன்னேறி ஒன்றே ஒன்று மட்டும் கோபுரத்தின் உச்சிக்குச் செல்ல ஆரம்பித்தது.

“ஏய் பாத்து, பாத்து…. போட்டியில் ஜெயிக்காட்டிக் கூட பரவாயில்லை கீழே விழுந்தே அவ்வளவு தான், உயிரே போயிடும். இது தேவையான்னு யோசித்து அப்புறமா மேல ஏறு” அந்தத் தவளையையும் மற்ற பல தவளைகள் முயற்சியைக் கைவிடச் செய்யப் பார்த்தன.

அந்த `தனித்தவளை` எதையும் லட்சியம் செய்யாது தனது லட்சியத்தில் உறுதியாக நின்று விடா முயற்சியுடன் கோபுர உச்சிக்குச் சென்று வெற்றிக் கொடி நாட்டி விட்டு வந்து விட்டது.

“எப்படி உன்னால் முடிந்தது?”

“எனக்கு அப்பவே தெரியும். நீ கண்டிப்பாக வெற்றி பெறுவாய் என்று” பழித்த தவளைகள் வெற்றிக்குப் பின் அதைச் சுற்றி இப்போது நெருக்கம் கொண்டாடின.

“உன்னால் எப்படி முடிந்தது என்பதை எல்லோருக்கும் சொன்னாயானால் உனது வெற்றியின் ரகசியம் எது என்பதை விளக்கினால் எதிர்காலத்தில் அது எங்களைப் போன்ற முன்னேறத் துடிப்பவர்களுக்கு உறுதுணையாக இருக்கும்” உண்மையாகவே அக்கறை கொண்ட தவளைகள் அதனிடம் வந்தன.

“வேறு ஒரு ரகசியம் இல்லை. எனது காதுகளைப் பொத்திக் கொண்டேன். செவிடாகி விட்டேன்.” வெற்றித் தவளை சொன்னது.

“அப்படீன்னா”

“செவிடாக நடித்தேன். நீங்கள் சொல்வது எதுவும் காதில் விழாத மாதிரி எனது கொள்கையிலேயே உறுதியாக உச்சி வரை சென்றேன்.” காரணம் விளங்கியது.

ஒரு சிறிய தவளை வாழ்க்கையின் பல பரிமாணங்களை எடுத்துரைக்கிறது. குறிக்கோளை அடைய இடையூறுகள் பல வரலாம். இடையூறுகள் சூழ்நிலை, உற்றார் உறவினர்கள் என்று பல ரூபங்களிலிருந்தும் வரலாம். மற்றவர்கள் ஏளனம் செய்யலாம். அடைய முடியாது என்று குறிக்கோளிலிருந்து தடுக்கலாம். ஆனால் குறிக்கோளிலேயே குறியாக இருக்கும் ஒருவனுக்கு இவையெல்லாம் ஒரு பொருட்டேயல்ல. இந்த ஏளனம், தடை இவையெல்லாம் `செவிடன் காதில் ஊதிய சங்கு’ போல் அவர்களை ஒன்றும் செய்யாது போய் விடும். வெற்றி பெறுவதில் உள்ள குறிக்கோள் அது மட்டுமே அவர்கள் எண்ணத்தில் நிற்கும்.

துரோணாச்சாரியார் எல்லோருக்கும் வைத்த அந்தப் போட்டியில் – மாமரத்தில் உள்ள கிளியின் கண்ணைக் குறி வைத்த அந்தப் போட்டியில் அர்ஜுனனிடம் மட்டும் இருந்த அந்த இலக்கு, அந்த ஒரு தெளிவு அதுவே வெற்றிக்கு வழி வகுக்கும். இதற்கு எதிரிடையாக இருந்தவர்கள் பின்பு வெற்றிக் கனியைப் பறித்தவுடன் சொந்தம் கொண்டாடி வருவதும் கண்கூடு. அவர்கள் நாக்கு தடம் புரண்டு போவதும் யதார்த்தம்.

இராமாயணத்தில் அனுமனது திறமையை அவ்வப்போது நினைவூட்டி ஊக்குவிக்க ஒரு ஜாம்பவான் இருந்தான். இக்கலியுகத்தில் அத்தகைய ஜாம்பவான்கள் கிடைப்பது மிக மிக அரிது. நமக்கு நாமே ஜாம்பவான்களாக இருப்பதே புத்திசாலித்தனம்.

Message For the Day…” Why Not Few Minutes Everyday to Contemplation of God … “

There is no harm in pursuing one’s worldly duties while having Self-realisation as the goal of life. Life is not meant for just living, it is a means to realize one’s true nature. Treating life as a righteous journey, you should devote at least a few minutes every day to thoughts on the true aims of life. Many hours in a day are wasted on selfish pursuits, but not even a few minutes are devoted to contemplation of God. Alas! What misfortune is this! In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna called upon Arjuna to regard himself as an instrument of the Divine. All of you are instruments of the Divine. Discharge your duties leaving the result to God. Your role is to do your duty sincerely. Victory and defeat are in God’s hands. Do not even feel that you are the doer. You must think the Lord is giving me this opportunity and making me play this role in life

Message For the Day… ” Help Ever …Hurt Never… “

Wherefrom does humanness come? It comes from your heart. Here, the heart referred to is not the physical heart but the spiritual heart which is free from all blemishes. Like fragrant air, your purity should spread everywhere. You should share with others the pure thoughts and the pure feelings that emanate from you. Whatever you do, it should be helpful to others. Help Ever, Hurt Never – If you imbibe these two qualities, everything will become good for you. Today educated people are proud of their Ph.D. degrees. What does the true Ph.D. mean? The letter ‘P’ stands for Person, ‘h’ for Help and ‘D’ for Divinity. Hence, one with Ph.D. degree is the person who helps others and attains Divinity. On the contrary, if one does not help others, then the letter ‘p’ will denote that he is a papi (sinner). You will attain everything if you protect your humanness.

Message For the Day…” Try to Practice at least a Part of What You Learn… “

Today people tend to go by the letter of the scriptures. The words of the scriptures should be interpreted and understood in the context of the prevailing time and circumstances. Then their real meaning will be clear. Also no one adheres to what one says or preaches. More than listening to spiritual discourses, one must try to practise at least a part of what one learns. Vedanta is being expounded at many places, not to speak of the discourses on the Gita. But how many understand the real spirit of the Gita and act up to its message? It is because of this dichotomy between preaching and practice that spiritual teachings are being treated with little regard. Only when the feelings emanating from the heart, the words coming out of the mouth and the actions one performs are all in perfect harmony will one’s life be based on truth.
