Message For The Day…God is the Moving Force in Everyone…

The unmistakable sign of rain is the wetness of the ground. So too, the sign of an educated person, who has had several years of schooling is good manners. Such a person will be humble knowing that the field of knowledge is so vast that even after years of learning one has hardly touched its fringe. They must also be aware of their kinship with all beings and must show a keenness to serve others gladly, at all times, without any desire for publicity. The educated children must move with everyone in a friendly manner, without inhibitions, knowing that God is the moving force in everyone. God is behind all good impulses and useful attitudes. All of you are separate beads, strung together on one common thread, which is God.

Laughter The Best Medicine ….” Double-up Your Cashew Intake ” !!!

Good folks Mike and Yvonne were 85 years old and had been married for sixty years. Though they were far from rich, they managed to get by because they carefully watched their pennies.
Though not young, they were both in very good health, largely due to Yvonne’s insistence on healthy foods and exercise for the last decade.
One day they went on a vacation and their plane crashed, sending them off to Heaven.

They reached the pearly gates, and St. Peter escorted them inside. He took them to a beautiful mansion, furnished in gold and fine silks, with a fully stocked kitchen and a waterfall in the master bath. A maid could be seen hanging their favorite clothes in the closet. They gasped in astonishment when he said, ‘Welcome to Heaven. This will be your home now.’ Mike asked Peter how much all this was going to cost. ‘Why, nothing,’ Peter replied, ‘remember, this is your reward in Heaven.’
Mike looked out the window and right there he saw a championship golf course, finer and more beautiful than any ever built on Earth..
‘What are the greens fees?,’ grumbled Mike..
‘This is heaven,’ St. Peter replied. ‘You can play for free, every day.’

Next they went to the clubhouse and saw the lavish buffet lunch.
‘Don’t even ask,’ said St. Peter to Mike. This is Heaven, it is all free for you to enjoy.’
Mike looked around and nervously asked Yvonne ‘Well, where are the low fat and low cholesterol foods and the decaffeinated tea?’
‘That’s the best part,’ St. Peter replied. ‘You can eat and drink as much as you like and you will never get fat or sick. This is Heaven!’
‘No gym to work out at?’ said Mike
‘Not unless you want to,’ was the answer.
‘No testing my sugar or blood pressure or…’
‘Never again’

Mike glared at Yvonne and said, ‘You and your  Bran Flakes. We could have been here ten years ago!’

Moral: Folks destined for Heaven should double-up their cashew intake!

Do We Have to Fire Crackers During Diwali ? … Let Us Think Again …

LET US SHOW THE WORLD THAT WE CARE FOR OUR MOTHER NATURE …

Deep (light) avali (rows), a row of lights that taught us to vanquish ignorance that subdues humanity and to drive away darkness that engulfs the light of knowledge.

But Diwali Today means : –

More ‘air, noise, light, land & social’ pollution due to use of lots of firecrackers;

More patients for hospitals after the festival;

Really bad news if there’s no wind and rain to lessen the effects of the smoke.

Highly polluting nature of these firecrackers lead to a plethora of diseases………

Pollutants Can lead to…

·         Suspended Particulate Matter Asthma, cancer, restrictive lung diseases, pneumoconiosis

·         Respirable Particulate Matter Respiratory illness (chronic bronchitis and asthma), heart diseases

·         Sulpher Dioxide (SO2) Eye burning, headache, respiratory problems like pulmonary emphysema, cancer, heart diseases

·         Nitrous Oxides Lung irritation, chest tightness, viral infection, airway resistance

During this festival (3 to 5 days), It has become a custom to enjoy Deepawali through lighting lamps, exchanging Sweets & “BURSTING FIRE CRACKERS”.

First two are better ways to enjoy, but what about the third one??

Are you aware what is the impact of bursting Fire crackers on the environment?? it affects Environment in the following ways –

1. Air Pollution affecting health especially to diseased persons, aged people, children & pregnant women.

2. Water & land pollution will pollute our resources rivers, lakes etc.

3. It takes several weeks to bring the air quality back to normal.

4. Fire hazards causing heavy damages to life and property.

5. Social nuisance leading to community disharmony.

6. Sound pollution causes:

· Palpitation of heart

· Spasms of the digestive system

· Dilation of the pupils of eyes

· Emotional disturbances

· Continuous exposure to loud noise may lead to permanent deafness

Crackers like “atom-bomb” and “Lakshmi Pataki” contain highly toxic heavy metals like cadmium, lead, copper, manganese and zinc. Others have arsenic, mercury, chromium and iron oxides which lead to severe pollution after they are burnt. 95 per cent of the crackers available in the market violate noise and air pollution norms.

Crackers like flowerpots, ‘zamin chakras’ and other fancy fireworks may not add to sound pollution but they make up for it by doing extra effort on the air pollution part.

We ask all of you to unite together and Say No to crackers on Diwali. Let us all become responsible citizens.

Also ask all your friends and family members to celebrate Cracker less Diwali.

Show the world that you care for our mother nature .

Message For The day…Without Reforming one”s Conduct, Happiness is Dream Only …

We often hear about the concept of equality (Samaanathwa), of each being equal to the rest. It is often a misunderstood notion. For example, all are entitled to the medicines in the hospital; but what is given to one should not be given to another. There can be no equality in dispensing of medicine! Each deserves the medicine that will cure one’s illness. This struggle in the name of equality is only one of the ways in which man is trying to get happiness. In almost all parts of the world, people today are pursuing many such short-cuts and wrong paths to achieve happiness. Of course all are equally entitled to love and sympathy, and to the grace of God. But let Me tell you, without reforming one’s conduct and little acts of daily life, happiness will be beyond reach. Pravartana or behaviour is most important.

Divine Image Of The Day…. With Diwali Wishes…

Wishing you and your family a very Happy Diwali and a prosperous New Year . May the blessings of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi shower on us good health, wealth, prosperity, peace, love , friendship , happiness and above all contentment in our hearts with whatever we have been blessed with…
With lots of good wishes,

While Diwali is popularly known as Deepawali or the “festival of lights”, the most significant spiritual meaning behind it is “the awareness of the inner light”. The celebration of Diwali as the “victory of good over evil”, refers to the light of higher knowledge dispelling all ignorance, the ignorance that masks one’s true nature, not as the body, but as the unchanging, infinite, immanent and transcendent reality. With this awakening comes compassion and the awareness of the oneness of all things (higher knowledge). This brings ananda (joy or peace). Just as we celebrate the birth of our physical being, Diwali is the celebration of this Inner Light.  This is the time for celebration with fireworks, the lighting of lamps, sweets & bonding of family and friends. The Festival is also associated with wealth & prosperity.

The Man Who Died Came Back to Life for Hitting Jackpots !!!

In 1999, 37 year old Bill Morgan was a truck driver living in a travel trailer in Australia. That’s when disaster struck- while working, he got in a pretty bad accident that he nonetheless survived. However, medication he was given during his recovery resulted in him having an extreme allergic reaction that ultimately caused his heart to stop.

After being clinically dead for fourteen minutes, they were able to get his heart going again.  Sometimes with that span, the person may have suffered brain damage and may even be essentially a vegetable, though there are many factors involved as to whether that will be the case (more on this very soon in an upcoming article from our resident writer who is also a paramedic).

In Morgan’s case, it at first looked like that might have happened.  After they got his heart going again, he was comatose and given how long he’d been clinically dead for, it was recommended twice that life support be removed and he be allowed to die.

Nonetheless, after 12 days, he miraculously came out of his coma and was, shockingly, completely fine, suffering no apparent brain damage or other long term problems from the event.

Not being interested in driving truck anymore, he then found a different job and- as near death experiences are wont to do, it made him reevaluate his life, including within a year making the decision to propose to Lisa Wells, his long-time girlfriend.

She accepted.

No doubt feeling pretty lucky not only to be alive, but to have his girlfriend agree to marry him, he bought a scratch lottery ticket. The result? He won a car worth about $17,000 Australian (today about $23,903 US and $25,099 Australian).

Normally winning a car isn’t a big enough story to get the media to pay attention to you, but given that Morgan had recently been clinically dead for 14 minutes, the local Melbourne news decided to do a feature on him.

In the process, they asked Morgan if he wouldn’t mind buying another lotto ticket and then scratching it off on camera for them, as a sort of re-enactment of his winning scratch.

He happily obliged. After scratching the ticket on camera, though, he stopped, looked at the camera, and rather than be excited and saying something like “I just won a car” as part of the reenactment, he instead said “I just won $250,000.  I’m not joking!” This was the jackpot for that particular scratch lotto he was playing (today about $369,102 Australian or $351,526 US ).

Needless to say, the reporters on scene got more than they bargained for during the reenactment, as did Morgan, who immediately called his fiancée to tell her the good news about his win and that they would now be able to get a house.

As for his fiancée, of the second win, she told the media, “I just hope he hasn’t used all his good luck up”.
