The Uttarakhand disaster has its heroes, but villains aren’t too hard to find. Some are in saffron.

The police have caught six sadhus from rain-ravaged Kedarnath with a crore of rupees in their possession.

Many incidents of looting with the victims have come to light, but the six sadhus who had refused to be rescued by Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Jawans are now being investigated by the police.

Officials said that the sadhus were persuaded by the ITBP and brought to Gaucher.

During questioning, the sadhus said that the they were travelling all across India starting from Allahabad Kumbh Mela to Himachal Pradesh to Kedarnath. Some of these sadhus claimed that the money recovered from them is their own; others said they were carrying it for the purpose of organising a holy feast.

The sadhus were carrying the money in waistbands and baggage. “The notes are in series and are of Rs 100, Rs 1000 and Rs 10 and Rs 20. It appears that the sadhus were involved in looting the flood victims,” said an ITBP official.

Others fly high.       Private helicopter companies pressed by the state government to evacuate people stranded in Uttarakhand are a making a quick buck out of the misery of the people. Headlines Today in a sting operation has exposed and caught red handed a company called Saarathi Airways Pvt. Ltd asking for money to evacuate people stuck in Badrinath on priority if a chunk of money is paid in Delhi. Interestingly, the Saarthi Airways helicopter with call sign VT-BKA has been operational in Uttarakhand and the company is being paid exorbitantly by the state government for every rescue sortie it undertakes.

When a Headlines Today team approached the owner of Saarathi Airways, Gulab Singh, posing as people whose relatives are stranded in Uttarakhand, he immediately guided them to Deepraj Singh Mehra, General Manager (Operations) of Saarthi Airways. Mehra took less than a minute to begin shamelessly haggling for money in exchange for evacuating the purportedly stranded, seeking a little over Rs 2 lakh for extracting three persons from Badrinath.

The undercover team of Headlines Today also met a middleman named Kamal Khanna who had tied up with different helicopter companies operating on behalf of the state government. According to him deals are being struck through him so that the officials and the company remain safe.

விதி என்ன செய்யும் வினை என்ன செய்யும்… உறுதியுடன் நீ இருந்தால்?

கவியரசு கண்ணதாசன் அவர்கள் எத்தனையோ காலத்தால் அழியாத தன்னம்பிக்கை
பாடல்களை தந்திருக்கிறார். ஆனால் அவற்றுக்கெல்லாம் சிகரம் வைத்தாற்போல
திகழ்வது ‘சுமைதாங்கி’ படத்தில் வரும் ‘மயக்கமா கலக்கமா’ பாடல் தான்.

ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் வாழ்க்கையில் உச்சகட்ட சோதனை, துன்பம், விரக்தி என்ற
ஒரு நிலை ஏதாவது ஒரு தருணத்தில் வரும். வறுமை, இயலாமை, பழி சொல்,
துரோகம், எதிர்பாராத சோகம், பிரிவு, என ஏதாவது ஒரு ரூபத்தில் துன்பம்
நம்மை தாக்கும் அந்த தருணங்களில் நமக்கிருக்கும் கடவுள் நம்பிக்கையே கூட
அசைத்து பார்க்கப்பட்டுவிடும். உரலில் அகப்பட்டது உலக்கைக்கு தப்பாது
என்பது போல அதுல இருந்து எந்த சேதாரமும் இல்லாம தப்பிச்சு வர்றதெல்லாம்
அத்துணை சுலபமில்லே. அந்த சமயத்தில் என்ன ஆறுதல் எங்கு தேடினாலும்
மனதுக்கு அமைதி கிடைப்பது இல்லை.
அது போன்ற நேரங்களில் அனைவரும் கேட்க வேண்டிய பாடல் தான் இந்த ‘மயக்கமா
கலக்கமா’ பாடல். பாடலை கேட்ட நொடிகளில் துவண்டு கிடக்கும் உள்ளங்கள்
தெளிவு பெரும். வாழ்வில் நிச்சயம் ஜெயிப்போம் என்கிற எண்ணம் வேரூன்றும்.

சமீபத்தில் ஒரு நாள் கண்ணதாசன் அவர்கள் எழுதிய நூல்கள் சிலவற்றை
வாங்குவதற்கு தி.நகரில் அவரது இல்லத்திலேயே அமைந்துள்ள கண்ணதாசன்
பதிப்பகம் போயிருந்தேன்.
அப்படியே கண்ணதாசனின் புதல்வர் திரு.காந்தி கண்ணதாசன் அவர்களையும்
சந்தித்தேன். அப்போது இந்த ‘மயக்கமா கலக்கமா மனதிலே குழப்பமா’ பாடல்
பற்றி பேசினோம். அப்போது திரு.காந்தி கூறிய சில விஷயங்கள் சிலிர்க்க
வைப்பவை.
இதற்கிடையே, ‘மயக்கமா கலக்கமா’ பாடல் பற்றி காந்தி கண்ணதாசன் அவர்கள்
கூறியவைகளை இங்கே தருகிறேன். படியுங்கள்… சிலிர்த்துப்போவீர்கள்!
எதற்க்கெடுத்தாலும் விதியை நொந்து இறைவனை வசைபாடுவதை விட்டேவிடுவீர்கள்!
ஊருக்கு திரும்ப இருந்த கவிஞர் வாலி… பாடலை கேட்டு பின்னர் மனம் மாறிய சம்பவம்!
திரையுலகில் எப்படியாவது வெற்றி பெறவேண்டி கவிஞர் வாலி
ஸ்ரீரங்கத்திலிருந்து கிளம்பி சென்னை வந்த சமயம் அது. ஆல் இந்திய ரேடியோ,
நாடக சபாக்கள் என தனக்கு கிடைத்த ஒன்றிரண்டு வாய்ப்புக்களை வைத்து
சென்னையில் காலத்தை தள்ளுகிறார் வாலி. ஆனால் அவர் எதிர்பார்த்த திரையுலக
பிரேக் கிடைக்கவேயில்லை. போதிய வருமானம் இன்றி சென்னையில் அவரால் காலம்
தள்ள முடியவில்லை. அவ்வப்போது ஏதாவது வாய்ப்புக்கள் வந்தாலும் எதுவும்
சொல்லிக்கொள்ளும்படி அமையவில்லை.
நாகேஷ், வாலி இவர்கள் எல்லாம் ஒரே அறையில் தங்கியிருந்த காலகட்டம் அது.
இவர்களை பார்க்க பாடகர் பி. பி.ஸ்ரீனிவாஸ் அங்கே அடிக்கடி வருவார்.
மூன்று பேரும் எங்கவாது ஒன்றாக செல்வார்கள். ஒரு பக்கம் வறட்சி,
மறுபக்கம் வறுமை… ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் கொடுமையாக இருந்தது வாலிக்கு.

“சரி.. இனி சென்னை நமக்கு சரிப்பட்டு வராது… நம்ம ஊருக்கே போய்டவேண்டியது
தான்” என்று முடிவு செய்துவிட்டு தான் கொண்டு வந்த பெட்டியுடன்
ஸ்ரீரங்கம் திரும்புவதற்காக தயாராகிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். அந்த நேரம் அங்கே
வந்த பி.பி.ஸ்ரீனிவாஸ்.. ‘சுமைதாங்கி’ங்கிற படத்துக்காக இன்னைக்கு ஒரு
பிரமாதமான பாட்டு பாடினேன்ய்யா.. கேக்குறியா?” என்று வாலியை கேட்க,
ஆர்வமுடன் கேட்கும் நண்பரிடம் மறுப்பு சொல்லமுடியாமல் வாலி அரைமனதுடன்
“சரி… பாடுங்க” என்று சொல்ல… ஸ்ரீனிவாஸ் ‘மயக்கமா கலக்கமா’ பாடலை பாடத்
துவங்குகிறார். பாடப் பாட நிமிர்ந்து உட்கார்ந்த வாலி, என்ன தோன்றியதோ
“இனிமே ஜெயிக்காம ஊர் திரும்புற பேச்சுக்கே இடமில்லே. மெட்ராஸைவிட்டு
ஜெயிக்காம நான் போகமாட்டேன். முயற்சி பண்ணா நிச்சயம் ஜெயிக்கலாம்ன்னு
இந்த பாட்டு எனக்கு புரிய வெச்சிடுச்சு” என்று சொல்லி பெட்டியை எடுத்து
உள்ளே வெச்சிடுறார். (அன்னைக்கு வெச்ச பெட்டியை அதுக்கு பிறகு வாலி
எடுக்கவே இல்லை. சொல்லப்போனா பீரோ பீரோவா வாங்கித் தள்ளிட்டார்.) இது
வாலி சாரோட லைஃப்ல நடந்த விஷயம்.
விரட்டியடிக்கப்பட்ட அதே இடத்தில்….
இந்த பாட்டு சம்பந்தமா அப்பாவோட (கண்ணதாசன்) லைஃப்ல நடந்த விஷயம் ஒன்னை
சொல்றேன் கேளுங்க.
அப்பா மெட்ராஸ்க்கு வரும்போது அவரோட வயசு 16 இருக்கும். காரைக்குடியில
இருந்து சென்னைக்கு கையில ஒரு பைசா கூட இல்லாம வர்றாரு. வருஷம் 1942
அல்லது 1943 இருக்கும். எக்மோர்ல ட்ரெயின்ல வந்து சாயந்திரம் இறங்குறார்.
எங்கே போறதுன்னு தெரியலே. அவருக்கு மெட்ராஸ்ல தெரிஞ்சதெல்லாம் மண்ணடில
இருக்குற எங்க ஊர்க்கரங்களுக்கு என்றே இருக்கும் ‘நகரத்தார் விடுதி’
தான். அதுக்கு கூட எப்படி போறதுன்னு தெரியாது. பஸ்ல போக கைல நையா பைசா
இல்லே. நடந்தே போவோம்னு மண்ணடிக்கு கிளம்புறார். பீச் வழியா போறாரு. அந்த
நேரம் பார்த்து இருட்டிடவே, இனிமே விடுதிக்கு போகமுடியாது…
லேட்டாயிடுச்சு… பூட்டியிருப்பாங்கன்னு அங்கேயே ஒரு ஓரமா படுக்குறார்.
ஆனா பாரா வந்த போலீஸ்காரர் படுக்க விடலே…. “யார் நீ? இங்கே எதுக்கு
படுத்திருக்கே?” அப்படின்னு கேட்டு இடத்தை காலி பண்ணச்சொல்லி
மிரட்டுறார். இவர் தன் நிலைமையை சொல்ல, “அதெல்லாம் தெரியாது. இடத்தை காலி
பண்ணு, இல்லே நாலணா காசு கொடுத்திட்டு அப்புறம் படு…” அப்படின்னு சொல்ல….
இருந்தாத் தானே கொடுக்குறதுக்கு… So, படுக்க கூட இடம் இல்லாம அந்த
இடத்திலிருந்து துரத்தப்பட்டார் கண்ணதாசன். “இந்த ஏழையிடம் நாலணா
இல்லாததால் பீச்சில் கூட படுக்க இடம் கிடைக்கவில்லை” அப்படின்னு
பின்னாளில் எழுதினார்.

அதுக்கப்புறம் அப்பா சினிமாவுல ஜெயிச்சு, படம்லாம் கூட தயாரிச்சார்.
‘விசாலாக்ஷி ஃபிலிம்ஸ்’ என்கிற சொந்த பேனர்ல ஜெமினி கணேசனை வச்சு ஸ்ரீதரை
டைரக்டரா போட்டு ‘சுமைதாங்கி’ங்கிற படம் எடுக்குறார். அந்த படத்துக்கு
இந்த ‘மயக்கமா கலக்கமா’ பாட்டு எழுதுறார்.
அந்த பாட்டை எங்கே ஷூட் பண்ணாரு தெரியுமா? அவரை எந்த இடத்துல படுக்கக்கூட
கூடாதுன்னு சொல்லி போலீஸ்காரன் விரட்டிவிட்டானோ அதே இடத்துல ஜெமினி
கணேசனை நடக்க வெச்சு அந்த பாட்டை ஷூட் பண்ணாரு. அந்த பாட்டப்போ நல்லா
பார்த்தீங்கன்னா தெரியும்.. ஜெமினி சார் நடக்கும்போது குறுக்கேயும்
நெடுக்கேயும் நாலஞ்சு கார்கள் போவும். அது அத்தனையும் அப்பாவோடது தான்.
இது தான் கண்ணதாசன் சினிமாவுல ஜெயிச்ச கதை!!”
எவ்ளோ பெரிய சாதனை…. என்ன ஒரு DETERMINATION!
“சார்.. இந்த வைர வரிகளிலேயே எனக்கு ரொம்ப ரொம்ப பிடிச்சது நாளை பொழுதை
இறைவனுக்களித்து நடக்கும் வாழ்வில் நிம்மதி தேடு & உனக்கும் கீழே உள்ளவர்
கோடி… நினைத்து பார்த்து நிம்மதி நாடு” என்கிற வரிகள் தான் சார். அங்கே
தான்  கவியரசு நிக்கிறார்.

Things seen in darkness cannot be clear – a rope is mistaken to be a snake, a piece of glass may be coveted as a diamond. So this indistinct light, that is, this mistaken notion, must go. This can happen only when the methods of discovering the truth are learnt. That is what the Scriptures and the learned ones teach. They guide you to direct your outward seeking senses inward. The inner realm of impulses, instincts, habits, prejudices and attitudes must be cleansed before God can be reflected clear and bright therein.

“inhuman”….Staying Dry While Reporting Flood Havoc !!!!

An Indian television journalist reporting on the deadly floods that have swept northern India has defended his decision to file a report while perched on a survivor’s shoulders.

Narayan Pargaien, who works for the local News Express channel, told Indian media website newslaundry.com that the criticism he has faced since the video was posted online was unfair.

The report was supposed to be telecast only with footage of me chest-up. This was entirely the cameraman’s fault, who… tried to sabotage my career by shooting from that distance and angle and releasing the video.

“People are talking about us being inhuman and wrong but we were actually helping some of the victims there,” Mr Pargaien said.

The reporter claimed that the slight man who carried him, who can be seen wobbling under the strain while standing in ankle-high water, had hoisted him onto his shoulders as a sign of respect.

The man “wanted to show me some respect, as it was the first time someone of my level had visited his house. So while crossing the river he offered to help by carrying me… between which, I thought of reporting”, Mr Pargaien said.

The journalist also attacked his cameraman for framing the shot so it showed him sitting on the floods survivor’s shoulders and accused him of posting the video online.

“The report was supposed to be telecast only with footage of me chest-up. This was entirely the cameraman’s fault, who… tried to sabotage my career by shooting from that distance and angle and releasing the video,” he said.

“I was wrong as well. That was the wrong thing to do, and the wrong time to have shot that sequence. But what my cameraman did was even more unacceptable.”

The Youtube video of the incident has been viewed more than 11,600 times since it was posted on Saturday.

Instead, bring to Him the fragrant flower of a pure heart and the fruit of your mind, mellowed from spiritual practices (Sadhana). That pleases Him the most, not the items that are readily available in the market for purchase. Those items that you buy do not elevate your mind – however, your spiritual practices will do it for you! To get a taste for that kind of effort, you must keep the company of the good and great, and take delight in noble thoughts. By whatever means that is available to you, increase your stock of bliss and improve your discrimination. Try to store as many of these as possible, so that you draw up from the reservoir of your storage, whenever the need arises.

13 Year Old From Bihar Cracks IIT Entrance Exam !!!!

Satyam Kumar, a Bihar farmer’s son who is just 13-years old, has cleared the fiercely competitive Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) for which 150,000 candidates had appeared this year.

Satyam, who passed his class 12 exam last year, secured an impressive all-India rank of 679.

“We are proud of him. He has done something special at this age,” Satyam’s father Sidhnath Singh, a farmer, told IANS.

IIT-JEE (Advanced) results for admission into IITs were declared Friday.

According to IIT-JEE website, Sahal Kaushik from Delhi was the youngest person to have cracked the exam in 2010 at the age of 14. But now this record is held by Satyam.

“Now Satyam is the youngest to crack the IIT-JEE,” an IIT official said.

Satyam, who hails from Bakhorapur village in Bhojpur district, had last year qualified for admission into IIT at the age of 12-and-a-half years after he got a special permission from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). He had then secured an all-India rank of 8,137.

Not satisfied with his low rank, he appeared for the IIT-JEE preliminary examination this year again and qualified.

“Satyam has improved his rank by his hard work and determination,” his father said.

He appeared for the entrance examination in Kota, Rajasthan, where he had been studying. He was one of the 150,000 candidates who appeared for the examination this year.

Earlier, Satyam Kumar had said he wanted to establish a software company on the lines of social networking website Facebook.

Every individual is born in the path of righteousness (Dharma Marga), journeys through the path of action (Karma Marga), rushes through the path of sages (Sadhu Marga) to reach the Supreme Reality (Brahma Marga). The path of action and the path of the Sages are illumined by the Jnanendriyas (organs of perception). Keep the Jnanendriyas and the Karmendriyas(sense organs) uncontaminated and pure. The cow eats grass and drinks gruel and gives sweet, sustaining milk. So too, let the experiences you gather through the organs, help in the production of sweetness and kindness. With pure devotion, lead your lives in peace and bliss.

In a heart-rending act of animal kindness, a stray dog steps in where no human would and buries a dead puppy by the side of a road.

Onlookers watched in awe as the mongrel circled and sniffed the lifeless pup after finding it in a ditch where it had been left to rot in the midday sun.

But rather than leave it to scavengers, who would inevitably have torn it limb from limb, she spent more than three minutes gently raking sand over the corpse with her snout with extraordinary care.

But there were no sermons, ceremony or quiet reflection at this impromptu canine burial service… not even a bark.

It was an extraordinary act of respect rarely seen in the animal kingdom and is sure melt hearts across the world

It is unclear whether she was a grieving mother burying one of her litter or just a passing stranger with a caring heart.

Nor is it clear where the moving scene, captured on a bystander’s mobile phone, was filmed but Arabic script on it’s YouTube page suggests it may have been made in the Middle East or the Persian Gulf.

It echoes pictures taken in December of a dog in China standing guard over his dead mate in a busy road where she was mown down by a speeding car.

Those heartbreaking pictures, taken in Zhangzhou, in China’s Fujian Province, show the animal carefully nudging the female dog after she was hit and killed by a car.

After he fails to wake her, the male refuses to leave and stays within feet of his mate for six hours.

 

The male was seen repeatedly licking the face of dead dog and keeping a watchful eye on her as he dodged the oncoming traffic. But he never strayed more than a short distance from her side. 

 

When he got tired the dog lay down next to her as he kept up his vigil for hours.

An anthropologist proposed a game to children in an African tribe. He put a basket full of fruit near a tree and told the children that whoever got there first won the sweet fruits. When he told them to run, they all took each others hands and ran together, then sat together enjoying their treats.

When he asked them why they had run like that when one could have had all the fruits for himself, they said, ‘UBUNTU, how can one of us be happy if all the other ones are sad?’ (‘UBUNTU’ in the Xhosa culture means: ‘I am because we are.)”
