Illusion (maya) envelops the good with the blemish of the bad. It makes evil glitter with the shine of the good. Discriminate to the best of your capacity and develop your capacity to discriminate. Struggle to win, that is the best that you can do. Your conscience knows well the source of joy and happiness. It will prod you towards the right path. You must take it as your guide and not disobey it, every time it contradicts your whim or fancy. There is no need for you to retire into a forest or a cave to know your inner Truth and to conquer your lower nature. As a matter of fact, you have no choice to exercise your vices there, so the victory achieved there may not be genuine or lasting. Be in the world, yet away from its tentacles. This is the victory for which you deserve congratulations.

You may be sitting on a soft cushioned sofa in a safe, air-conditioned room, but your heart may be burning with unspeakable anxiety, distress and fear. The body is akin to the cart and the mind is the horse. Now people give first place to the cart. The body and its needs are given more importance. This is incorrect. The sages have known the mine of bliss in the human heart, and have discovered methods to develop and excavate it. They have clearly spelt out that if Mother Earth (Bhoo-Matha), one’s physical mother (Nija-Matha), the sacred cow (Go-Matha) and Mother Scriptures (Veda Matha) are revered, nourished and fostered and used as best as they should, then happiness is certain and liberation is assured.

Often people seek health, not for its own sake, but to cure or prevent an illness. For illness means lots of grief, so everyone is after health, and health means joy. Truly speaking, everyone’s native element is joy. When you are calm, you are naturally happy and you experience peace and contentment (Anandam, Prema and Shanthi). Just like a fish which is thrown out on the bank of the lake wriggles and struggles to enter the water again, every being is struggling to win calmness, peace, contentment and joy, every single day in their lives. Each and every one of you can win joy, only through your own efforts. Happiness is an inner treasure; the best way to win it is by practising detachment and discipline. If you want to build a plan to live joyfully, you must first plan for Peace and Contentment as the essential building blocks.

காஞ்சி மஹானை சந்தித்த ஸ்ரீ ஞானானந்தகிரி ஸ்வாமிகள்

மஹான் களிடையே எந்த வித்தியாசமும் கிடையாது. ஆனால் அவர்களை வழிபடுபவர்களின் மனப்பக்குவத்தில் தான் வித்தியாசம் ஏற்படுகிறது. ஒரு குருநாதரை ஏற்று கொண்டு மற்றவரை வெறுக்காமல், மஹானுக்கு மஹான் வித்தியாசம் என்ற நிலை மேற்கொள்ளாமல் அனைவரும் சமம் என்று வணங்கவேண்டும் .

ஒரு சமயம் தபோவனத்தில் பகல் வேளையில் குருநாதர் (ஸ்ரீ ஞானானந்தகிரி ஸ்வாமிகள்) முன்னிலையில் அமர்ந்து பாடி கொண்டிருந்தோம். திடீரென்று எழுந்த ஸ்வாமிகள் உள்ளே சென்று பின் வெகு நேரமாகியும் வெளி வரவில்லை. நாங்கள் தொடர்ந்து பாடிகொண்டிருந்தோம். சுமார் 2 மணி நேரம் கழித்து அப்போது தான் குளித்துவிட்டு வந்தது போன்ற தோற்றத்துடன் வெளியே வந்தார். வந்தவுடன் சொன்னார் “அங்கே இளையாத்தங்குடியில் ஆச்சார்யாள் பெரிய பூஜை பண்றாங்க. அதுக்கு ஸ்வாமி யை கூப்பிட்டு இருந்தாங்க. போய் வர நேரம் ஆகிவிட்டது”.

பலருக்கு அது ஸ்வாமியின் பல ஆச்சரிய லீலைகளில் ஒன்று என தோன்றினாலும் ஒரு சிலருக்கு ட்டும் சுவாமியின் வார்த்தைகளில் சந்தேகம் வந்தது. சிறிது நேரத்திற்கேல்லாம் பஜனை முடிந்தது. சந்தேகப்பட்ட நபர்கள் ஊர் திரும்பி செல்ல உத்தரவு வேண்டி நின்றனர். ஸ்வாமி அவர்களை “இருந்து விட்டு நாளை போகலாம்” என்று கூற அவர்களும் ஸ்வாமியின் வார்த்தைக்கு கட்டுப்பட்டு தங்கிவிட்டனர்.

மறுநாள் காலையில் தினசரி வழிபாட்டுக்கு ஒரு புதிய தம்பதியர் வந்தனர். ஸ்வாமி அவர்களை பார்த்து “நாம் எங்கிருந்து வருகிறது” என்று கேட்க அவர்கள் ” இளையாத்தங்குடியிலிருந்து வருகிறோம்” என்றனர். அதற்க்கு ஸ்வாமி “அப்படியா! அங்கு என்ன விசேஷம் ” என்று கேட்க அவர்கள் சொன்னார்கள் ” நேற்று மஹா பெரியவர்கள் விசேஷ பூஜை பண்ணினார்கள். நைவேத்யம் செய்யும் சமயம் ஒரு ஆடு வந்தது. பெரியவாள் அந்த நைவேத்தியத்தை அதனிடம் காண்பிக்க அந்த ஆடு சிலவற்றை சாப்பிட்டவுடன் பெரியவாள் தீபாரதனை பண்ணினார்கள். பிறகு அந்த ஆடு அங்கிருந்து போய் விட்டது. அப்போது பெரியவாள் “இன்றைய பூஜைக்கு தபோவனம் பெரியவாளை கூப்பிட்டுருந்தேன். அவர்கள் தான் இப்போது வந்து சென்றார்க்ள்” என்று சொன்னவுடன் நாங்கள் ஊருக்கு கிளம்பும் சமயம் அவரிடம் தபோவனம் பெரியவாள் யார் ஸ்வாமி என்று கேட்க அவர் தங்களை பற்றி சொல்லி அவசியம் தரிசித்து வரவும் என்று ஆசிர்வதித்து அனுப்பினார் என்றனர்.

உடன் இருந்த அந்த சந்தேகப்பட்ட நபர்கள் நால்வரும் வெட்கி தலை குனிந்தனர்.

Remember, evil has in it the potential to become good and good has in it the liability to turn evil! There is no fire without a wisp of smoke; there is no smoke, without a spark of fire. No one is fully wicked, fully infallible or fully perfect. Take the world as it is, never expect it to conform to your needs or standards. The treasure that is undoubtedly the most precious in the universe is the quality of equanimity and unruffled-ness (shantham). Practise this and make it your natural reaction. The Goddess of Victory smiles only on the heroic, those who make lions of themselves; those resilient, brave and self-confident warriors. If you secure the Grace of the Lord, then you will be reinforced with so much strength, that you can carry out even the most difficult tasks.

We read so many articles about Mahaperiyava….It gets even more interesting if the concerned person from that incident narrates this to you after you read it. Kanjira Shri Ganesh Kumar narrated this incident to me after I read this first article few years back…..

”மகா பெரியவாளோட அனுஷ ஜயந்தியை, வருஷம் தவறாம நடத்திண்டு வரேன். சில வருஷத்துக்கு முன்னால, ஜயந்தித் திருநாள் தருணத்துல நடந்தது இது.

ஒரு மாலை நேரம்… அன்பர் ஒருத்தர் அயோத்தியா மண்டபத்துக்கு வந்தார். ‘என் பேரு சுவாமிநாதன். நீங்க ஏன் மகாபெரியவாளோட பாதுகை யையும் திருவுருவப் படத்தையும் வைச்சு அனுஷ ஜயந்தி நடத்தறேள்? பஞ்சலோக விக்கிரகம் பண்ணி, அதுக்குண்டான வழிபாடுகளைச் செஞ்சு, ஜயந்தி விழாவை நடத்தலாமே?’ன்னு என்னைக் கேட்டார்.

அதோட நிக்காம, ஒரு பையிலிருந்து ரெண்டு பித்தளை சொம்புகளை எடுத்துக் கொடுத்து, ‘மகாபெரியவாளின் பஞ்சலோக விக்கிரகம் செய்யறதுக்கு முயற்சி பண்ணுங்க. நிச்சயம் அது கைகூடும். மாம்பலத்துலயே அவர் கோயில்ல குடியிருந்தபடி எல்லார்க்கும் அருள்பாலிக்கப் போறார், பாருங்க’ என்று சொல்லி, ஒரு ஓரமா இருந்த நாற்காலியில் போய் உட்கார்ந்தார்.

பத்து நிமிஷம் கழிச்சுப் பார்த்தா, அங்கே அவரைக் காணோம்! மண்டபம் முழுக்கத் தேடியும் கிடைக்கலே. பக்தர்கள்கிட்ட இந்த விஷயத்தைச் சொன்னதும், பஞ்சலோகத் திருமேனி பண்றதுக்கு, எல்லாரும் ரொம்ப ஆர்வத்தோட உதவி பண்ணாங்க.

அப்புறம்… மகாபெரியவாளோட திருவுருவத்தை பஞ்சலோக விக்கிரகமா வடிக்க, சுவாமிமலைக்குப் போனோம். அங்கே… கோயிலுக்குப் பக்கத்துலயே இருக்கிற தேவ சேனாபதி ஸ்தபதியைப் பாத்தோம். மகாபெரியவாள்மேல ரொம்ப பக்தி கொண்டவர் அவர். வயசானவர். ‘இத்தனை வயசுக்குப் பிறகும், மகாபெரியவாளோட பஞ்சலோக விக்கிரகம் பண்ற பாக்கியம் எனக்குக் கிடைச்சிருக்கே’ன்னு சொல்லிச் சொல்லிச் சந்தோஷப்பட்டார். ஒரு நல்ல நாள் பார்த்து, விக்கிரகம் பண்ற வேலையை ஆரம்பிச்சு, பிரமாதமா தயாரிச்சு முடிச்சார் (பெரியவாள் விக்கிரகம்தான், அவர் பண்ணின கடைசி விக்கிரகம்).

இந்த நேரத்துல, கையில பணம் குறைச்சலா இருந்துது. விக்கிரகத்தை வாங்கிண்டு வரணும்னா, சுமார் 5,000 ரூபா வரைக்கும் தேவையா இருந்துது. ‘எல்லாம் பெரியவா பார்த்துப்பா’னு தைரியமா இருந்தேன். திடீர்னு ஒருநாள், கடம் விநாயக்ராமோட தம்பி சுபாஷ் சந்திரனோட வீட்டுக்கு, அவரோட மாப்பிள்ளை கஞ்சிரா வித்வான் கணேஷ்குமார் அமெரிக்காலேருந்து போன் பண்ணியிருக்கார்.

‘மாம்பலத்துல மேச்சேரி பட்டு சாஸ்திரிகள்னு ஒருத்தர், காஞ்சி மகா பெரியவாளோட பஞ்சலோக விக்கிரகத்தைச் சிரமப்பட்டுப் பண்ணியிருக்காராம். ‘அவருக்குப் பணம் கொடுத்து ஒத்தாசை பண்ணு’ன்னு அதிகாலைல, மகா பெரியவா என் சொப்பனத்துல வந்து சொன்னார்’னு கணேஷ்குமார் சொல்லிருக்கார். சுபாஷ் சந்திரனோட மனைவி கீதா நேர்ல வந்து, ‘இந்த 6,000 ரூபாயை உங்க கிட்ட கொடுக்கச் சொன்னார்’னு முழு விவரமும் சொல் லிக் கொடுத்தப்ப, ஆச்சரியத்துல அசந்து போயிட்டோம் நாங்க!

பணத்துக்கு என்ன பண்றதுன்னு தவிச்ச கொஞ்ச நேரத்துலயே, 6,000 ரூபாய் கைக்கு வந்தா எப்படி இருக்கும் எனக்கு? அப்படியே உருகிப் போயிட்டேன். இத்தனைக்கும் எனக்குப் பணம் தேவைப்படறதுன்னு யார்கிட்டயும் நான் ஒரு வார்த்தைகூடச் சொல்லலை. ஆனா, எங்கேயோ அமெரிக்காவுல இருக்கிற கணேஷ் குமாரோட சொப்பனத்துல வந்து, மகாபெரியவாளே சொல்லிருக்கார்னா, பெரியவாளோட மகிமையை என்னன்னு சொல்றது! ஆறு வருஷத்துக்கு முன்னால நடந்த சம்பவம் இது!

பணம் கைக்கு வந்ததும், வைகாசி அனுஷ ஜயந்தி நடத்தறதுக்கு முன்னேயே, ஜூன் மாசம் 3-ம் தேதி ராத்திரி, சுவாமிமலையில ஸ்ரீஸ்வாமிநாத ஸ்வாமியை கண் குளிரத் தரிசனம் பண்ணிண்டு, வடவாம்பலம் வழியா வந்து, அங்கே ஸ்ரீஆத்ம போதேந்திராள் அதிஷ்டானத்துல மகா பெரியவாளோட பஞ்சலோக விக்கிரகத் திருமேனியை ஒரு வாகனத்துல வெச்சு, தீபாராதனை காட்டினோம்.

பூஜையெல்லாம் முடிச்சுட்டு, வண்டியைக் கிளப்பினா… ம்ஹூம்.. வண்டி ஒரு அடிகூட நகரலை. அங்கேயே நின்னுடுத்து. டிராக்டரைக் கொண்டு வந்து இழுத்துப் பார்த்தோம்; லாரியைக் கொண்டு வந்து கட்டி இழுத்தோம்; ம்ஹூம்… வண்டி அசைவேனாங்கறது! கிட்டத்தட்ட விடியற்காலை நேரமும் வந்தாச்சு. அந்த நேரத்துல, விவசாயி ஒருத்தர் ரெண்டு சிநேகிதர்களோடு அங்கே வந்தார். அவர் தினமும் ஆத்ம போதேந்திராள் அதிஷ்டானத்துல பிரார்த் தனை செஞ்சுட்டுதான் கூலி வேலைக்குப் போவாராம்.

எங்ககிட்ட வந்த அந்தக் குடியானவர், ‘என்ன நடந்துது?’ன்னு கேட்டார். ‘ஏனோ தெரியலை; வாகனம் நகரவே இல்லை’ன்னு சொன்னோம். அப்ப, அவர் சொன்ன வார்த்தைகள், எங்களை மெய்சிலிர்க்க வெச்சுடுச்சு!

‘மகா பெரியவாளும் அவரோட குருவும் ஆத்மார்த்தமா சம்பாஷணையில இருக்கிற நேரத்துல, நீங்க எப்படிக் குறுக்கிடலாம்? பாதிப் பேச்சுல, பெரியவாளைப் பிரிச்சு எப்படி சென்னைக்குக் கூட்டிட்டுப் போகலாம்? இப்ப… அவங்க சம்பாஷணையை நிறுத்திட்டாங்க. இப்போ வண்டியை இழுத்துப் பாருங்க, நல்லாவே நகரும்’னார். அதோட நிக்காம, எங்களோட அவரும் சேர்ந்து, ‘ஜய ஜய சங்கர; ஹர ஹர சங்கர‘ன்னு சொல்லிண்டே வாகனத்தை நகர்த்தறதுக்கு உதவி பண்ணினார். வண்டியும் எந்தச் சிரமமும் இல்லாம நகர்ந்தது. வழியிலயும் எந்தவித அசௌகரியமும் இல்லாம, விக்கிரகத்தை நல்லபடியா சென்னைக்குக் கொண்டு வந்தோம்.

மகா பெரியவா, சாதாரணமானவரா என்ன? அவர், மகான் மாத்திரமில்லை; சாட்சாத் ஈஸ்வர அம்சம். இல்லேன்னா இதெல்லாம் நடக்குமா? இந்த பஞ்சலோக விக்கிரகத் திருவுருவமேனியைச் செஞ்சது நாங்களா? இல்லவே இல்லை. அவரோட காரியத்தை அவரே நடத்திண்டுட்டார். இப்ப… பாதுகையோடு பஞ்சலோக விக்கிரகமும் தரிசனத்துக்கு இருக்கு. அடுத்து, பெரியவாளுக்குக் கோயில் கட்டுற வேலைதான் பாக்கி. மகா பெரியவாளுக்கு கோயில்ங்கறது, பக்தர்களோட கோரிக்கைதான். இதையும் அவரே நடத்திக் கொடுத்துடுவார், பாருங்கோ!

ஒண்ணு மட்டும் சத்தியம்! ‘இன்னது நடக்கணும்’னு நாம சங்கல்பம் பண்ணிண்டாப் போதும்; அவரே நடத்தி வெச்சுடுவார். அவரோட அன்பாலதான் எல்லாமே இயங்கறது; மகா பெரியவா, கருணாமூர்த்தியாச்சே!” என்று நெகிழ்ச்சியுடன் சொல்லி, பஞ்சலோக விக்கிரகத் திருமேனியாகக் காட்சி தரும் காஞ்சி மகானைப் பார்த்த பட்டு சாஸ்திரிகள், அப்படியே வணங்கித் தொழுதார்.

AN ATHEIST IN THE WOODS

An atheist was walking through the woods in Alaska.

‘What majestic trees!’
‘What powerful rivers!’
‘What beautiful animals!’
He said to himself.
As he was walking alongside the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him.

He turned to look. He saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charge towards him.

He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder & saw that the bear was closing in on him.

He looked over his shoulder again, & the bear was even closer.

He tripped & fell on the ground.

He rolled over to pick himself up but saw that the bear was right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw & raising his right paw to strike him.

At that instant moment, the Atheist criedout:

‘Oh MY GOD !!!!

Time stopped.
The bear froze.
The forest was silent.

As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky.

‘You deny my existence for all these years, were teaching others I don’t exist and even credit creation to cosmic accident.’

‘Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament?’

‘Am I to count you as a believer?’

The atheist looked directly into the light, and said ‘It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps you could make the BEAR a Christian?’

‘Very well’, said the voice.

The light went out. The sounds of the forest resumed.And the Bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head & spoke:

‘Lord bless this Food, which I am about to receive from Thy bounty through Christ our Lord, Amen.’!!!!

Message For The Day….” Do Good To Others -Avoid Doing Harm ” !!!

This holy full moon day is called Vyaasa Poornima, and must be celebrated with prayer and contrition which alone can cleanse the heart, and not by feasting or fasting, which affects only the body. Today the moon shines bright, cool and full, without any hindrance. The mind of a human is compared to the moon, for it is as wayward as the moon with its swing from brightness to darkness. Your mind must be bright, effulgent and cool always. Two statements give you the gist of all the eighteen Puranas composed by sage Vyaasa. “Do good to others; avoid doing harm”. These are the cure for the disease of suffering from joy and grief, honour and dishonour, prosperity and adversity, and all the dual throng that bother you and deprive you of equanimity. Follow the path shown by your Guru. Even Vyaasa can only show you the road. You have to traverse it alone.

Message For The Day….Be an Example to Others Through Your Conduct ….

A true devotee will have no eye on the profit of any kind that can be derived from their service. If you quarrel with your spouse and desist from food for a day, that does not count as fasting in the book of God. Also praising one God as great and decrying another is incorrect. Any of these acts reflect the fact that you are unaware of the elementary rules of spiritual discipline. Dhana (wealth) is the currency of the world. Sadhana (Spiritual Practice) is the currency of the spirit. Be an example to others through your conduct – sweet speech, humility, reverence to elders and steadfastness in truth and faith. This way you will influence more people into practicing spirituality; it is better than establishing societies, collecting donations or running temples. The Lord looks for sincerity, simplicity and steady joy in the contemplation of His Name and Form.
