Carol Burnett Show…. No Frill Airlines !!!

This is absolutely hilarious.

Not far from the truth…

This is absolutely hilarious.

Not far from the truth…

With the recent announcement by airlines of charges for checked luggage, overweight and over sized luggage, etc., this video from the past could be what air travellers will experience in the near future. Carol Burnett, Harvey Korman and Tim Conway were not only the best, but ahead of their time!
Happy flying!

Lost in the Desert ? ….

This viral photo isn’t quite what it seems.

IT WAS a picture that broke hearts around the world.

Taken by a UNHCR worker on the Syrian/Jordanian border, the picture showed a boy carrying a plastic bag looking lost, desperate and seemingly alone in the desert.

And like all amazing pictures it soon swept across the internet, but not all was not what it seemed.

As it turns out the boy, named as Marwan to protect his identity, was actually never abandoned or alone — he had simply became temporarily separated from his mother in the rush to cross the Syrian border into Jordan.

So how did this picture end up going viral?

Shortly after posting the picture taken near the Hagallat boarder crossing by Jordan’s UNHCR head Andrew Harper, it was picked up under the hashtag #syria.

CNN anchor Hala Gorani posted the picture, revealing her own heartbreak about the boy’s desperate situation.

Her post gained plenty of sympathy and retweets from across the Twittersphere, who agreed it was indeed heartbreaking.

Message for the Day…” God is Giving us Everything with many Hands…”

There was once an old woman in Paris. It was winter and December was around the corner. Many poor people were sleeping on the streets and shivering with cold. She went around the streets and covered them with a blanket. She completed the job without any fuss or noise. Over time, the people in the town came to know about it. They wondered why this humble old woman who was herself struggling to make her ends meet setting out to help others! When children used to ask her, “Grandma, why are you walking with your head down? You are a great person!” she would respond humbly, “God is giving us everything with many hands, and I am giving with a single hand. Is that not a shame for me?” Many great people world over, have placed before us the high ideals of charity

Joke of The Day… ” K- Mart Next …” !!!

It was snowing heavily and blowing to the point that visibility was almost zero when the little Antartian got off work. She made her way to her car and wondered how she was going to make it home. She sat in her car while it warmed up and thought about her situation.

She finally remembered her daddy’s advice that if she got caught in a blizzard; she should wait for a snowplow to come by and follow it. That way she would not get stuck in a snowdrift. This made her feel much better and sure enough in a little while a snowplow went by and she started to follow it. As she follows the snow plow she was feeling very smug as they continued and she was not having any problem with the blizzard conditions.

After quite sometime had passed she was somewhat surprised when the snow plow stopped and the driver got out and came back to her car and signaled for her to roll down her window. The snowplow driver wanted to know if she was all right as she had been following him for a long time. She said that she was fine and told him of her daddy’s advice to follow a snowplow when caught in a blizzard.

The driver replied that it was OK with him and she could continue if she wanted but he was done with the Wal-Mart parking lot and was going over to K-Mart next. ….

Message For the Day…” God is Present in Everyone …”

Many people try to do Hata Yoga or develop Kundalini Shakthi and so on. Some invoke evil spirits to harm others. These forms of spiritual practices are not Satwik. God is the Eternal Absolute (Sat) and the individual is Consciousness (Chit). When these two (Sat andChit) merge, you have bliss (Ananda). Your spiritual practices must help you to realise this bliss (Sat-chit-ananda). Only such practices deem to be called Sadhana. Where is God (Sat)? God is present in everyone. So always be prepared to serve everyone, regarding them as Divine. Your spiritual practices (Sadhana) must help you cultivate the feeling of Universal Love and adoration for the Divine who embraces everyone. There is no higher spiritual practice than the cultivation of Love. Hence, intensify your spiritual practices in the spirit that the one God pervades the many forms in the Universe

Who are The Happiest People in This World ?…

Why Some People Have All the Luck
By Professor Richard Wiseman, University of Hertfordshire

Why do some people get all the luck while others never get the breaks they deserve?

A psychologist says he has discovered the answer.

Ten years ago, I set out to examine luck. I wanted to know why some people are always in the right place at the right time, while others consistently experience ill fortune. I placed advertisements in national newspapers asking for people who felt consistently lucky or unlucky to contact me.

Hundreds of extraordinary men and women volunteered for my research and over the years, I have interviewed them, monitored their lives and had them take part in experiments.

The results reveal that although these people have almost no insight into the causes of their luck, their thoughts and behavior are responsible for much of their good and bad fortune. Take the case of seemingly chance opportunities. Lucky people consistently encounter such opportunities, whereas unlucky people do not.

I carried out a simple experiment to discover whether this was due to differences in their ability to spot such opportunities. I gave both lucky and unlucky people a newspaper, and asked them to look through it and tell me how many photographs were inside. I had secretly placed a large message halfway through the newspaper saying: “Tell the experimenter you have seen this and win $50.”

This message took up half of the page and was written in type that was more than two inches high. It was staring everyone straight in the face, but the unlucky people tended to miss it and the lucky people tended to spot it.

Unlucky people are generally more tense than lucky people, and this anxiety disrupts their ability to notice the unexpected.
As a result, they miss opportunities because they are too focused on looking for something else. They go to parties’ intent on finding their perfect partner and so miss opportunities to make good friends. They look through newspapers determined to find certain types of job advertisements and miss other types of jobs.

Lucky people are more relaxed and open, and therefore see what is there rather than just what they are looking for. My research eventually revealed that lucky people generate good fortune via four principles. They are skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities, make lucky decisions by listening to their intuition, create self-fulfilling prophesies via positive expectations, and adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad luck into good.

Towards the end of the work, I wondered whether these principles could be used to create good luck. I asked a group of volunteers to spend a month carrying out exercises designed to help them think and behave like a lucky person.

Dramatic results! These exercises helped them spot chance opportunities, listen to their intuition, expect to be lucky, and be more resilient to bad luck. One month later, the volunteers returned and described what had happened. The results were dramatic: 80% of people were now happier, more satisfied with their lives and, perhaps most important of all, luckier.

The lucky people had become even luckier and the unlucky had become lucky.

Finally, I had found the elusive “luck factor”.

Here are Professor Wise man’s four top tips for becoming lucky:

 1) Listen to your gut instincts – they are normally right
2) Be open to new experiences and breaking your normal routine
3) Spend a few moments each day remembering things that went well
4) Visualize yourself being lucky before an important meeting or telephone call.

Have a Lucky day and work for it.

The happiest people in the world are not those who have no problems,

but those who learn to live with things that are less than perfect.

A Tiny New Chip Promises Internet 400 Times Faster than Google Fiber !!!

A Tiny New Chip Promises Internet 400 Times Faster Than Google Fiber

Fast internet is fast. Google Fiber’s gigabit connections? That’s like driving a sports car compared to the go-cart-speed connection that’s probably in your house. But new technology from IBM opens the door for connections that are beyond fast. Comparatively, it’s like flying a fighter jet.

IBM researchers in Switzerland just unveiled the prototype for an energy efficient analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that enables connections as fast as 400 gigabits per second. That’s 400 times faster than Google Fiber and about 5,000 times faster than the average U.S. connection. That’s fast enough to download a two-hour-long, 4K ultra high definition movie in mere seconds. In short, that’s incomprehensibly fast.

The ADC chip itself was actually built for loftier purposes than downloading episodes of Planet Earth, though. It’s actually bound for the Square Kilometer Array in Australia and South Africa to help us peer hundreds of millions of light years into space, hopefully to give us a better idea of what the universe was like around the time of the Big Bang. This massive radio telescope will devour data, too. It’s expected to gather over an exabyte every day when it’s finished in 2024. That’s over 100 billion gigabytes.

Believe it or not, 400 gigabit isn’t even the fastest connection the world has seen. For that you’ll have to go to the United Kingdom where researchers recently developed 1.4 terabit internet using commercial-grade hardware. That’s warp speed. [ZDNet]
