A young college student can roam free on his two legs; when he marries, he becomes four-footed! A child makes him six-footed; now the range of his movements is restricted. The more the feet, the less the speed, the stronger their grip on the ground; a centipede can only crawl. More hurdles, more handicaps. Accumulation of sofas, chairs, cots, tables and shelves clutter the hall and render movements slow and risky. Attachment brings sorrow in its wake; at last, when death demands that everything be left behind and everybody be deserted, you are overpowered with grief! Be like the lotus on water; on it, not in it. Water is necessary for the lotus to grow; but it will not allow even a drop to wet it. The objective world is the arena of virtue and the gymnasium for the spirit. But use it only for that purpose; do not raise it to a higher status and adore it as all-important.
Message For the Day…” Get rid of your Ego and Give up Greed …”
No one will like the one who is conceited and egotistic. Even your spouse and your own children, though they may appear to respect you externally, will not be happy with you, when you are an arrogant person. Not just that, as long as you are filled with ego, it is highly unlikely that you will really be happy. Therefore at the very outset, you should get rid of your ego (ahamkara). So too, when you are filled with anger, you cannot experience joy; you are bound to be miserable. Only when you subdue anger you will be able to experience happiness. Similarly, when you are filled with insatiable desires, you will not really feel wealthy. The moment you give up desires, all riches will come to you. If you stay greedy, you will be a stranger to happiness. Give up greed, and you will feel endowed with all riches.

In a large gathering, people speak many languages. Each person understands only their language, and wants that they should be spoken to in that language. But there is a language of the heart, which all can understand and all would like to hear. That is the language which I speak, the language that goes from My heart to yours. When heart speaks to heart, it is love that is transmitted without any reservation. Trials, turmoil and thrills – these are constant for all of mankind. The responsive heart listens to these with sympathy and answers with love. Everyone is eager to be happy; everyone wants to work less and gain more, give little and get amply, but no one experiments with the other method, that is, wanting less and giving more. Every want is a shackle that hinders movement, and is a drag on the foot. Reduce wants; live simply, that is the way to happiness.

‘உங்களுக்கு மிகவும் பிடித்த கடவுள் யார்?’ என, ஒரு போட்டி நடத்தினால், கண்டிப்பாக பெரும்பான்மை ஓட்டு வித்தியாசத்தில் விநாயகர் தான் வெற்றி பெறுவார்.முட்டு சந்து முதல் அரச மரத்தடி வரை, ஆரம்ப பள்ளி முதல் ஐ.ஐ.டி., வரை, சண்முகன் வள்ளியை மணக்க உதவியது முதல் நவீன காதல் கதைகள் வரை, எந்த வேலை என்றாலும், அனைவரும் முதலில் வணங்கி, விண்ணப்பம் செய்வது, பிள்ளையாரிடம் தான்.இன்று ஒவ்வொரு வீட்டிலும் விநாயக சதுர்த்தியை முன்னிட்டு, வணங்கப்படும் இவர், ஓரிடத்தில் மட்டும் அனாதையாக நிற்கிறார்.

ஓகியோ மாகாணத்தில் உள்ள டாலிடோ நகரில் உள்ள அருங்காட்சியகத்தில்.தமிழகத்தின் அரியலுார் மாவட்டத்தை சேர்ந்த, ஸ்ரீபுரந்தான் ஊரில், ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் பழமையான, பிரகதீஸ்வரர் கோவில் உள்ளது.
அந்த கோவிலில் இருந்து, 2005ம் ஆண்டு, சிலை கடத்தல் மன்னன் சுபாஷ் கபூர் கும்பலால் திருடப்பட்ட அந்த விநாயகர் சிலை, 1.5 கோடி ரூபாய்க்கு வேறொருவருக்கு விற்கப்பட்டது.அதிர்ஷ்டவசமாக, புதுச்சேரி பிரெஞ்ச் இன்ஸ்டிடியூட் நிறுவனம், 1994 நவம்பர் மாதத்தில், பிரகதீஸ்வரர் கோவிலில் இருந்த செப்புத் திருமேனிகளை, புகைப்படங்களாக ஆவணப்படுத்தி வைத்திருந்தது.
அயல்நாடுகளில் அருங்காட்சியகங்களில் உள்ள தமிழர் கலைச்செல்வங்கள் பற்றிய தகவல்கள், வரலாறுகளை திரட்டி வரும் இணைய ஆர்வலர்களான நாங்கள், உடனே, புதுச்சேரி, பிரெஞ்சு இன்ஸ்டிடியூட்டிற்கு சென்று, இதுதொடர்பான புகைப்படங்களை முறையாகப் பெற்றுக் கொண்டோம்.பொதுவாக, அந்த கலை பொருட்கள், எந்த ஆண்டு வாங்கப்பட்டன என்ற விவரம் மட்டுமே, சம்பந்தப்பட்ட அருங்காட்சியகங்களில் இருந்து கிடைக்கும்.
ஸ்ரீபுரந்தான் விநாயகர் கதையிலும் அதுதான் நடந்தது.எனினும் பல தேடல்களுக்கு பின், டாலிடோ அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் உள்ள விநாயகர் சிலை, பார்ப்பதற்கு திருடு போன சிலை போலவே இருப்பது தெரிந்தது.அமெரிக்காவில் வசிக்கும், முகநூல் நண்பர் ஒருவரிடம், ”ஒருமுறை அங்கே நேரில் சென்று படம் எடுத்து தர இயலுமா?” என்று கேட்டேன். அவரும் மெனக்கெட்டு அங்கு சென்று, நல்ல படங்களை எடுத்து அனுப்பினார்.
இரண்டு படங்களையும் ஒப்பிட்டபோது, ஒரு முக்கிய துப்பு கிடைத்தது. பிள்ளையாரின் தும்பிக்கையில், ஒரு சிறிய மரு, இருப்பது, இரண்டு படங்கள் மூலம் உறுதியானது. இந்த சான்று, சிலை திருட்டை உறுதிசெய்தது. கடந்த ஆண்டு, ஜூலை 17ம் தேதி, ‘சிலை திருட்டு பொருளாக இருக்கலாம்; மேலும் விவரங்கள் அனுப்பி உதவ வேண்டுகிறோம்’ என, அஞ்சல் அனுப்பினோம்.
அஞ்சலில், சென்னை காவல் துறையின், சிலை கடத்தல் தடுப்பு பிரிவு இணையதளத்தில், 2009ம் ஆண்டில் வெளியிடப்பட்ட படங்கள், பிரெஞ்சு இன்ஸ்டிடியூட்டின் படங்கள், சிலைகளின் ஒப்பீடு என்று அனைத்து ஆதாரங்களையும் இணைத்து இருந்தோம். அதன் நகலை, காவல்துறைக்கும் அனுப்பி வைத்தோம். ‘இனிமேல், விநாயகர், வீடு திரும்பி விடுவார்’ என, நம்பிக்கையுடன் இருந்தோம்.
ஆனால், அதன்பின்,அருங்காட்சியகத்திடம் இருந்த எந்த பதிலும் இல்லை.காவல்துறையும் ஒன்றும் செய்ய வில்லை. தொடர்ந்து ஏழு மாதங்கள் அவர்களை விடாமல் ‘தொந்தரவு’ செய்தவுடன்,- அருங்காட்சியகம், அதன் இணையதளத்தில், இந்த ஆண்டு பிப்., மாதத்தில், இரு கடிதங்களை வெளியிட்டது.
நாங்கள் அனுப்பிய கடிதம் கிடைத்தவுடனே, அருங்காட்சியகம், இதுகுறித்து இந்திய துாதரகத்திற்கு கடிதம் அனுப்பியது. ஆனால் அங்கிருந்து பதில் எதுவும் வரவில்லை.அதனால், அருங்காட்சியகம் தான் அனுப்பிய கடித பிரதி, இந்திய துாதருக்கு அனுப்பிய கடித பிரதி இரண்டையும், பகிரங்கமாக இணையதளத்தில் வெளியிட்டு விட்டது.
அதாவது, ‘நாங்கள் முயற்சி செய்தோம். உங்கள் தரப்பில் இருந்து எந்தவித பதிலும் இல்லை’ என்பதுதான் அதற்கு அர்த்தம்.இந்த சிலை கடத்தில் வழக்கில், போதுமான ஆவணங்கள் இருப்பதாக நாங்கள் கருதுகிறோம். ஆனாலும், இந்திய அரசு இதில், தேவையான நடவடிக்கைகளை எடுக்கவில்லை என்றே நினைக்கிறோம்.
இது மட்டும் ஒரு சம்பவம் இல்லை. இதுபோன்று, இந்திய கலைப்பொருட்கள், இந்திய மண்ணில் இருந்து திருடப்பட்டு, உலகெங்கிலும், பல கோடி ரூபாய்களுக்கு ஏலம் விடப்படுகின்றன.
சிலை கடத்தல் சம்பவங்களும், கடத்தப்பட்டவற்றை மீட்காமல் இருப்பதும், நமது கலைக்கும், ஆன்மிக உணர்வுகளுக்கும், நாமும் நமது அரசும் அளிக்கும் அலட்சிய பார்வையை, புறக்கணிப்பைத் தான், சர்வதேச அளவில், எடுத்துக்காட்டுகிறது.
எங்களை போன்ற ஒரு சில ஆர்வலர்களின் பணியை, அயல்நாட்டவர் எள்ளிநகையாடுகின்றனர். நாங்கள் அதற்காக வருத்தப்படவில்லை.கலைப்பொருட்கள் அவை சிலையாகவோ, மர சிற்பமாகவோ, ஓவியமாகவே, வேலைப்பாடு மிக்க பொருளாகவோ இருக்கலாம் நம் குலதனம்.
டாலிடோ அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் உள்ள, ஸ்ரீபுரந்தான் விநாயகர், அடுத்த ஆண்டு விநாயகர் சதுர்த்திக்குள், நாடு திரும்ப வேண்டும் என்றால், தமிழக மக்கள் ஒருங்கிணைந்து, இதற்காக குரல் கொடுக்க வேண்டும்.இனியவாது அவரவர் பகுதிகளில் உள்ள கோவில்களை, பாதுகாக்க முன்வர வேண்டும். அதைப் பார்த்து அரசு, தானாகவே தனது பணியை செய்ய முன்வரும்.இதற்கிடையில்…எங்கள் பணியும் தொடரும்!

Message For the Day…” Ganapathy means Lord of Intellect and of Wisdom “
What does the term Ganapathi signify? Ga means intellect (Buddhi). Na means Wisdom (Vijnaana). Ganapathi means the Lord of the intellect and of wisdom. He is also the Lord of all Ganas (spiritual entities). Ganas also symbolise the senses. Ganapathi is thus the Lord of the senses. Hence on this Ganapathi festival, you must purify your mind and OFFER it to Him. It is only when one is pure that intelligence blossoms. It is only with the blossoming of intelligence that Siddhi (the spiritual goal) is attained. Vinayaka presides over Buddhi and Siddhi (the intellect and spiritual realisation). Siddhi signifies the realisation of Wisdom. That is why the scriptures say that Siddhi and Buddhi are the consorts of Vinayaka, and Kshema (well being) and Ananda (bliss) are His two sons.
“வினை தீர்ப்பான் விநாயகப் பெருமான் …”
உயிர் நண்பனைப் போல வினைகளைக் களைபவன் விநாயகன் என்பதால்தான், இல்லம், சாலை, நடைபாதை என்று எங்கெங்கு காணினும் விநாயகர் வீற்றிருந்து அருள்பாலிக்கிறார்.
மனதில் எக்கணம் வேண்டுதல் தோன்றுகிறதோ அக்கணம் பார்வையைச் சுழற்றித் தேடினால் சுற்றுப்புறத்தில் படமாகவோ, சிலையாகவோ கண்ணில் பட்டுவிடுவார் விநாயகர்.
விநாயகர் எப்படித் தோன்றினார்?
பார்வதி தேவி சுனையொன்றில் தனிமையில் நீராட விரும்பினார். அப்போது அச்சுனைப் பகுதியில் யாரும் உள்ளே நுழைந்துவிடக் கூடாது என்பதற்காக தனக்குக் காவலாக ஒருவரை நியமிக்க எண்ணினார்.
தனது உடலில் பூசிய மஞ்சளைத் திரட்டி, ஓர் உருவத்தை உண்டாக்கினார். ஆயிரம் கோடி சூரியப் பிரகாசத்துடன் தேவ உருவம் பெற்றிருந்த அந்தக் குழந்தை, அன்னையின் சக்தியைப் பெற்று மிகுந்த பலவானாக இருந்தது.
பார்வதியைக் காண சிவன் வந்தபோது, குழந்தை வழி விட மறுத்தது. இதர தேவர்கள் போரிடவே தொடங்கிவிட்டனர். ஆனாலும் சிவ பார்வதி அம்சமான அக்குழந்தையை அவர்களால் வெல்ல முடியவில்லை. புதிய பலத்துடன் இருக்கும் இக்குழந்தை அசுரனோ என்று எண்ணிய சிவனும், அதன் தலையைத் துண்டித்தார்.
இதனைக் கண்ட பார்வதி கதற, வடக்கே தலை வைத்துப் படுத்திருந்த யானையின் தலையைக் கொண்டுவந்து பொருத்தினார் சிவன். அக்குழந்தை பலவானாக இருந்ததால், தன் கணங்களுக்குத் தலைமை ஏற்கச் செய்தார். கணங்களின் அதிபதியே கணபதி.
சக்கரத்தைப் பறித்த விநாயகர்
கைலாயத்தில் இக்குழந்தையைக் காண வந்தார் பார்வதி தேவியின் சகோதரர் மகாவிஷ்ணு. அப்போது கைலாயத்தின் வெளி வாயிலின் அருகே விளையாடிக்கொண்டிருந்த குழந்தைக்குத் தானும் விளையாட்டுக் காட்ட எண்ணித் தனது சக்கரத்தை அக்குழந்தையிடம் கொண்டு காட்டினார் தாய் மாமனான விஷ்ணு.
விநாயகரோ குழந்தைகளுக்கே உரிய வேகத்துடன் அதைப் பறித்துக் கொண்டுவிட்டார். குழந்தை கையில், சக்கரம் காயத்தை ஏற்படுத்திவிடப் போகிறதே என்று விளையாட்டுக் காட்டி அதைத் திரும்பப் பெற முயன்றாராம் விஷ்ணு. அதற்காகத் தனது தலையின் நெற்றிப் பகுதியில் கைகளால் குட்டிக் கொண்டாராம்.
கல கலவென்று சிரித்த குழந்தை சக்கரத்தை வாயில் போட்டுக்கொண்டுவிட்டது. பதறிய தாய் மாமன் மேலும் குழந்தையைச் சிரிக்க வைத்து, சக்கரத்தை உமிழச் செய்யும் முயற்சியாக, இரு காதுகளையும் இரு கைகளால் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, உட்கார்ந்து எழுந்தாராம்.
இதனைக் கண்டு குழந்தை சிரிக்க, வாயில் இருந்த சக்கரம் துள்ளிக் கீழே விழுந்தது. அச்சக்கரத்தைக் கைப்பற்றிக் கொண்ட விஷ்ணுவும் யானை முகம் கொண்ட குழந்தையின் கன்னத்தை வலி நீக்கும் விதமாகத் தடவிக் கொடுத்தார். தலையில் குட்டிக்கொண்டு தோப்புக்கரணம் போட்டால் விநாயகர் மகிழ்ந்து வேண்டு வனவெல்லாம் அருளுவார் என்பதைச் சொல்லும் கதை இது.
விநாயகரின் திருநாமங்கள்
பல பெயர்களைக் கொண்ட விநாயகருக்கு, அந்த ஒவ்வொரு பெயருக்கும் கதைகள் உண்டு. இப்பெயர்களை உச்சரித்தலே மகா மந்திரமாகச் செயல்படும்.
