Message For the Day…” Man Should Use his ‘Buddhi’ to Understand the Priniciple of Unity … “

Buddha experienced the unity of all creation. There was total transformation in Him once He attained the vision of ekatma (oneness of the atma). He realised that all worldly relations were false. He transcended body consciousness. That is why he earned the appellation Buddha (the enlightened one). Man should use his buddhi (intellect) to understand this principle of unity. Buddhi is of two types: the buddhi that sees diversity in unity is worldly intelligence. You should develop adhyatmic buddhi (spiritual intelligence) in order to realise the underlying unity of all creation. It gives you the experience of the atmic principle which is the same in the entire creation. Buddha attained the vision of the atma. Truly speaking, Buddha is not just one individual. All of you are Buddhas. You will see unity everywhere once you understand this truth.

This Beautiful Film Of A Guy Surprising His Mother Will Warm Your Heart …

“The only love that I really believe in is a mother’s love for her children.” ~Karl Lagerfeld

This beautiful video of a man’s journey back home is shot entirely on Google Glass. The film is unique because it gives us a first person perspective of the whole journey, as if we are going home to our own mother.

The ending, where the son reveals the news of his wife’s pregnancy by showing the ultrasound, is so beautiful that it might just wet your eyes.

Thank you, Mom.

South Korea… No 1 in Global Education System !!!

South Korea is in top place in this global education league table

Korean students

The UK is in second place among European countries and sixth overall in a global education league table.

South Korea is top, with three other Asian countries and Finland making up the top five, in rankings from education and publishing firm, Pearson.

The rankings include higher education as well as international school tests – which boosted the UK’s position.

Pearson chief executive John Fallon highlighted the economic importance of improving education and skills.

These latest international comparisons, compiled for Pearson by the Economist Intelligence Unit, emphasise the success of Asian education systems, with South Korea, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong in China rated as the highest performing.

But it shows a strong performance from the UK, which is ranked sixth, behind only Finland in Europe and ahead of countries such as Germany, France and the United States.

Finns no longer flying
Finland, which was previously in first place, has slumped to fifth, and there has been a wider downward trend for a number of Scandinavian countries.

It also records the rise of Poland, which has been hailed for reforming its post-Communist education system and sits in the top 10.

These rankings are based upon an amalgamation of international tests and education data – including the OECD’s Pisa tests, and two major US-based studies, Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (Timss) and Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (Pirls).

They also include higher-education graduation rates, which helped the UK to a much higher position than in Pisa tests, which saw the UK failing to make the top 20.

The UK’s Business Secretary Vince Cable said: “The UK has a global reputation for excellence in higher education, attracting overseas students who make huge economic and cultural contribution to Britain.

“To maintain our position, we must continue to attract international students and promote the UK as a knowledge economy.”

A Learning Curve report accompanying the ranking says that the success of top-performing Asian countries reflects a culture in which teachers and schools are highly respected and “teachers, students and parents all take responsibility for education”.

Students in South Korea, with the strongest test results, will have had to memorise 60 to 100 pages of facts, says the report, raising questions about the long-term value of such rote learning.

The report also notes that highly-prized skills such as being creative and problem solving are much harder to measure and put into such rankings.

The lowest-ranked European country is Greece, with a group of emerging economies at the bottom of the table, including Indonesia, Mexico and Brazil.

Message For the Day…” You Must Know What is Right and What is Wrong …”

The world is a mixture of good and bad, of right and wrong, joy and sorrow, victory and defeat. In a world replete with such opposites, you must constantly make the choice between what is right and proper, and what is wrong and undesirable. You must not let yourself be guided by the mind. You must follow the directions of the intelligence. As long as you follow the mind, you cannot attain the Divine. Youth often tend to go by the inclinations of the mind, neglecting their intelligence and consequently are subject to agitations and frustrations. Discrimination is a big help to avoid such situations. Ask yourself “I am a human being; how must I conduct myself in this situation such as to win the respect and regard of others?” and act in accordance. You will certainly find the right answers on what you should do and where you should go. Humility and discrimination are the indexes of an educated person.

Some Silly “Hoax” Mails that Took us For a Ride !!!

The Internet is a treasure chest of amazing finds. At times, you come across certain images and pieces of information that truly blows your mind. But another thing about the Internet is that not everything you find in there is really true. Here are 10 hoaxes that found their way to ‘believability’ thanks to the internet.

1. A photo that went viral on Facebook with the title, “India during Diwali.”

Fact:
This message went viral in India on the occasion of Diwali. The message came with a picture showing the satellite image of the Indian map during the day, followed by the same during the night, appearing bright and colorful throughout. However, the message was a hoax. The image in question is put up by National Geophysical Data Center of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, USA and is actually a composite satellite view of India at night, showing the change in night illumination during the period 1992-2003. Satellite data from the year 1992 is shown in blue color, 1998 green colored, and that in 2003 is colored red. This stunning composite satellite image of India at night was developed by NASA so as to illustrate the increasing population of India over the years.

2. The Indian three headed snake.

snake

Fact:
This picture showing a live three headed snake on an Indian road started circulating on many social networking websites. The message that comes with the picture states that it is a beautiful creation of nature. The story however, is a hoax. The three headed snake picture is not real, it is a photoshopped one.

3. “UNESCO declares Indian National Anthem as best in the world.”

Fact:
This story was very widely circulating through emails, blogs and social networking sites. The message claiming that the Indian national anthem “Jana gana mana..” was selected as the best in the world by UNESCO was never heard of or confirmed by any kind of news or media reports. If the story was factual, it would have definitely received wide attention from the media. If the UNESCO released such a statement, it would be readily available on their official website, which is no where to be seen. India Today wrote to UNESCO to get clarity on these stories and got a confirmation message from UNESCO that these messages were indeed a hoax.

4.Indian woman gives birth to 11 kids at once!

Fact:
The photograph which shows 11 new born babies along with hospital staff was accompanied by a message claiming that an Indian woman gave birth to all of them in a single delivery, and considers it as God’s miracle. 6 out of the 11 babies were reported to be twins. The photograph is genuine, but the story is a hoax. The photograph actually shows 11 kids born to different mothers on 11.11.11 at the 21st Century Hospital & Test Tube Baby Center in Surat, India. The doctors and hospital staff together with the new born babies took photographs and shared it as an interesting achievement on 11.11.11.

5. Pictures showing the excavation site of a giant human skeleton.

Fact:
Many versions of this story were circulating through emails along with these pictures of giant human skeletons. The news related to this story appeared in the media in countries like India, Bangladesh etc. However, all these versions were false. The pictures depicting giant human skeletons are actually a part of image manipulation contest conducted by worth1000.com.

6. Hanuman Gadha found during an excavation in Sri Lanka.

Fact:
This picture claims to show the Hindu God Hanuman’s Gadha (mace), supposedly discovered during an excavation in Sri Lanka. Other versions said it is the world’s largest Gada of Veer Hanuman discovered in Gujarat. The claims are not true. It actually shows a 45 feet Gada replica  for installation on a 125-foot-high Hanuman statue on the outskirts of Indore, India on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti (birthday) on 25 April 2013. (As quoted in Hindustan Times epaper.)

7. Bhagat Singh was hanged on the 14th of February, Valentine’s Day.

Fact:
This hoax was a  rather unfortunate and disrespectful mis-interpretation of Bhagat Singh’s biography. Bhagat Singh was arrested following the 1929 Assembly bomb throwing incident. Fearing civil agitation, the then Viceroy of India Lord Irwin set up a special tribunal called the Privy Council to speed up his trail process. An Indian defence committee in Punjab appealed against the Privy Council, which was again dismissed by the  Judge Viscount Dunedin. After the rejection, the then Congress party president Madan Mohan Malviya filed a mercy appeal before Lord Irwin on 14 February 1931, but even that did not work, and Bhagat Singh was hung on 23 March 1931 at 7:30 pm in Lahore jail along with fellow freedom fighters Rajguru and Sukhdev.

8. “Important message from Delhi Police: Frooti can contain HIV.”

Fact:
This story broke on Facebook walls and Whatsapp chats all over India. A supposed warning from the Delhi Police warned consumers that a worker from the “Frooti Company” was HIV positive and had added his blood to the drink mix. It also claimed that the story had been reported by NDTV. As you can guess, the whole thing was a hoax. Both the Delhi Police and NDTV denied the ridiculous story. Besides one can’t even get AIDS through “infected” food.

9.A mysterious tree sighted in Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh, India.

Fact:
The messages showed pictures of a tree with mysterious wooden carvings of various animals like crocodiles, monkeys, snakes, spiders and others; claiming that it is a ‘Baobab’ tree that has the largest trunk in the world. The message stated that this mysterious tree was found near a hermitage in the dense forests of Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh, India. The truth? There was no mysterious tree or hermitage. This was in fact an art work in Disney Land.

Now … A Water Bottle That You Can Eat …!!!

Now, a water bottle that you can eat

London:  Finished drinking your bottle of water? Now eat it!

A design student in UK has developed an edible ‘bottle’ of water that could rid the world of excess plastic waste.

Rodrigo Garcia Gonzalez along with fellow Imperial College London students has been working on the Ooho water bottle for the past few years.

The bottle is made out of edible materials, looks like a jellyfish, and has the potential to put an end to the bottled water industry, ‘Smithsonian.com’ reported.

Inspired by the juice-filled pearls added to bubble tea and the creations of legendary Spanish chef Ferran Adria, who uses a technique of encasing liquid into edible membranes known as sheperification.

Gonzalez and his team first took a frozen ball of water and dipped it into a calcium chloride solution, which formed a gelatinous layer.

The ball was then soaked in another solution made from brown algae extract, which encapsulated the ice in a second squishy membrane to reinforce the structure.

Keeping the water in the algae solution for long periods of time allows the mold to become thicker and stronger.

“The main point in manipulating the water as solid ice during the encapsulation is to make it possible to get bigger spheres and allow the calcium and algae to stay exclusively in the membrane,” Gonzalez said.

Ooho has been tested in some European cities, but the researchers need to perfect it, as their edible bottles still don’t hold large amounts of water and can’t be resealed.

World”s Toughest Job… Are You Qualified ? …

Consider this: you are at a job interview, all suited up, ready to brave the toughest questions the interviewer throws at you. Now imagine being told that the job you applied for is “the most important job.” Are you ready for this?

And are you ready for the job requirements? The person in charge would not only need to think on their feet but also be on their feet constantly; 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And there are no breaks available.

Along with excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills, the candidate must also have expertise in medicine, finance and culinary arts.

No holidays, extra work on occasions and staying up late with the associate are just some more necessities. “If you had a life, we would ask you to give that up,” says the interviewer.

And here’s the big one; the candidate must do this with a happy disposition and no salary. That’s right. You don’t get paid for this job.

“That’s almost cruel. Like a sick, twisted joke,” says one of the 24 candidates who applied for the job and were interviewed via recorded video chat. “That’s inhumane,” says another. “Nobody’s doing that for free,” says a third.

And that is when the assessor tells them that billions of people already hold this position, described as ‘Director of Operations.’

You’re in for a shock with this one. Are you ready to meet the person doing the world’s toughest job?

Message For the Day…”Understand the Value of Discipline and Adhere to it…”

Say you are expecting a train, a public transport that is supposed to arrive at 5 o’ clock. It is delayed by a few hours and doesn’t turn up until 8 or 9 p.m. How would you feel then? You first start to complain that the schedules of the trains and buses have no discipline and they don’t turn up on time. Then you start abusing the driver, the department, the government, and talk about it for a couple of days. When you complain so much about a delayed train or a bus which has no life, do you expect the world not abuse you, a conscious individual, when you do not adhere to your discipline, code of conduct and duty? All of you must understand the value of discipline and adhere to it consistently, and pass the test of discipline.
