How to Install Love in Your Heart !!!…

There are a lot of metaphors for love, but I think this is one of the best metaphors for ‘installing’ love in our lives. A great little dialog between a customer support representative and a woman who wants to install… love.

Support Rep. : Hello ma’am, how can I help you today?

Client: Well, I’ve been thinking about it for a while, and I’ve finally decided to install LOVE. I was hoping you could help me through the process.

Support: Of course ma’am, no problem. Are you ready to continue?

Client: Well, I’m not a very technical person, but yes, I think I’m ready to install now. What’s the first step?

Support: First you must open HEART. Have you located your HEART?

Client: Yes I have, but there are several other programs running right now. Is it okay to install while they are running?

Support: What programs are running ma’am?

Client: Let’s see, I have PAST-HURT.EXE, LOW-ESTEEM.EXE, GRUDGE.EXE, and RESENTMENT.COM running right now.

Support: No problem. LOVE will gradually erase PAST-HURT.EXE from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory, but it will no longer disrupt other programs. LOVE will eventually overwrite LOW-ESTEEM.EXE with a module of its own called HIGH-ESTEEM.EXE. However, you have to completely turn off GRUDGE.EXE and RESENTMENT.COM. Those programs prevent LOVE from being properly installed. Can you turn those off ma’am?

Client: I don’t know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

Support: My pleasure. Go to your Start menu and invoke FORGIVENESS.EXE. Do this as many times as necessary until GRUDGE.EXE and RESENTMENT.COM have been completely erased.

Client: Okay, done. LOVE has started installing itself automatically. Is that normal?

Support : Yes. You should receive a message that says it will reinstall for the life of your HEART. Do you see that message?

Client: Yes I do. Is it completely installed?

Support : Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need to begin connecting to other HEART’s in order to get the upgrades.

Client: Oops. I have an error message already. What should I do?

Support: What does the message say?

Client: It says ‘ERROR 412 – PROGRAM NOT RUN ON INTERNAL COMPONENTS.’ What does that mean?

Support: Don’t worry ma’am, that’s a common problem. It means that the LOVE program is set up to run on external HEARTS but has not yet been run on your HEART. It is one of those complicated programming things, but in non-technical terms it means you have to ‘LOVE’ your own machine before it can ‘LOVE’ others.

Client: So what should I do?

Support : Can you pull down the directory called ‘SELF-ACCEPTANCE’?

Client: Yes, I have it.

Support : Excellent. You’re getting good at this.

Client: Thank you.

Support: You’re welcome. Click on the following files and then copy them to the ‘MYHEART’ directory: FORGIVE-SELF.DOC, REALIZE-WORTH.TXT, and ACKNOWLEDGE-LIMITATIONS.DOC. The system will overwrite any conflicting files and begin patching any faulty programming. Also, you need to delete VERBOSE-SELF-CRITIC.EXE from all directories, and then empty your recycle bin afterwards to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back.

Client: Got it. Hey! My HEART is filling up with new files. SMILE.MPG is playing on my monitor right now and it shows that PEACE.EXE, and CONTENTMENT.COM are copying themselves all over my HEART. Is this normal?

Support: Sometimes. For others it takes a while, but eventually everything gets downloaded at the proper time. So, LOVE is installed and running. You should be able to handle it from here. One more thing before I go.

Client: Yes?

Support : LOVE is freeware. Be sure to give it and its various modules to everybody you meet. They will in turn share it with other people and they will return some similarly cool modules back to you.

Client: I will. Thanks for your help!

Message For the Day…Do not Deviate from Right Conduct for the Sake of Wealth..

Always remember that your education is not merely to amass wealth or to eke out a livelihood. Money cannot confer true happiness. Do not deviate from Right Conduct (Dharma) for the sake of wealth (Dhana). Dharma is our life; Truth is our breath; and Good Reputation is our wealth. You should not crave for worldly name and fame. Once you practise Dharma, you will naturally attain good reputation.Dharma is related to the heart. Practise of Dharma is termed as Ritam which will make you immortal. We have today forgotten the great scholars and those who demonstrated great ideals. We should remember people who have sacrificed their life for a noble cause and try to emulate them. It is the spirit of sacrifice that has protected and sustained this country and this Universe for many generations. Offer your lives for the protection of Dharmaand not for amassing wealth.

How the Himalayas were Formed ….

How the Himalayas Were Formed

EMILY UPTON   DECEMBER 4, 2013

himalayasToday I found out how the Himalayas formed.

The Himalayas, which stretch some 2,900 kilometres between India, Pakistan, China, and Nepal, is the world’s tallest mountain range. In addition to Mount Everest, the world’s tallest mountain by peak elevation standing at 8,848 meters tall, the range also features several other mountain peaks over 8,000 meters. It is the only mountain range to boast mountains over 8,000 meters—the runner-up is a mountain range in South America, whose tallest peak is just 6,962 meters tall.

Millions of years ago, these mountain peaks didn’t exist. The Asian continent was mostly intact, but India was an island floating off the coast of Australia. Around 220 million years ago, around the time that Pangea was breaking apart, India started to move northwards. It travelled some 6,000 kilometres before it finally collided with Asia around 40 to 50 million years ago. Then, part of the Indian landmass began to go beneath the Asian one, moving the Asian landmass up, which resulted in the rise of the Himalayas. It’s thought that India’s coastline was denser and more firmly attached to the seabed, which is why Asia’s softer soil was pushed up rather than the other way around.

indiaThe mountain range grew very rapidly in comparison to most mountain ranges, and it’s actually still growing today. Mount Everest and its fellows actually grow by approximately a net of about a centimetre or so every year. That’s in comparison to the Appalachian Mountains, which developed some 300 million years ago or more, which is actually decreasing in peak elevations as it erodes.

The continued growth in the Himalayas is likely due to the Indian tectonic plate still moving slowly but surely northward. We know the plate is still moving in part because of the frequent earthquakes in the region.

Now, if you do the math, you’d find that if the Himalayas had been growing at the current rate for 40 million years, they should be about 400 km tall! Once the infrastructure was in place, this would have given us a much cheaper way to put things into low Earth orbit and beyond. (For reference, the International Space Station typically orbits at between 300 km to 400 km.)

So what happened? In part, the rate of vertical growth has varied over time, including in favor of more horizontal growth. And, of course, gravity and erosion having limited the mountains’ growth significantly.

India merging into Asia became the accepted theory about how the Himalayas were formed around 1912. That’s when Alfred Wegener, a German meteorologist, came up with the “Theory of Continental Drift” which gave us our first ideas about Pangea, tectonic plates, and the thought that continents were moving away from or closer to each other.

What does the future for the Himalayas look like? Undoubtedly, the mountains will continue to grow, though at the same time eroding too; but the net is expected to continue to grow as the Indian tectonic plate doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down any time soon. That means more earthquakes and, over time, slightly taller mountains to climb.

Top Ten… Least Corrupt and Most Corrupt Countries !!!

In some countries, business owners can go their way in the happy knowledge that government officials won’t be hitting them up for bribes or tossing them in jail on trumped-up charges. But in other parts of the world, public sector corruption is a fact of life.

Hoping to shine a light on this widespread problem, Transparency International, a non-governmental organization that serves as a watchdog for corporate and political corruption, has published its Corruption Perceptions Index for 2013. The index ranks countries around the world by perceived level of government corruption, with a score of 100 signaling an absence of official corruption and a score of 0 indicating a country that is hopelessly corrupt.

Of the 177 countries and territories listed on the index, less than one-third managed to break 50. As No. 127 Nicaragua would say, that’s no bueno. So in what countries can you trust public officials and what places should you avoid?

To start, the Nordic countries are a safe bet for business, with Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway all among the least corrupt nations. Rounding out the top five are New Zealand, tied for first with Denmark with a score of 91, and Singapore, tied with Norway for No. 5.

Here are the 10 least corrupt countries in the world, according to the index:

  1. Denmark
  2. New Zealand (tied with Denmark for No. 1)
  3. Finland
  4. Sweden (tied with Finland for No. 3)
  5. Norway
  6. Singapore (tied with Norway for No. 5)
  7. Switzerland
  8. Netherlands
  9. Australia
  10. Canada (tied with Australia for No. 9)

What of the United States? The world’s largest economy sits at No. 19 with a score of 73, while its fellow Anglophones to the north and south, Canada and Australia, are tied for 9th place with scores of 81. (Both have dropped since last year. In 2012, Canada scored an 84 and Australia an 85.) The United Kingdom is ranked No. 14.

Mexico, another U.S. neighbor, is listed as far more corrupt than Canada, with a score of 34 ranking it at 106 of 177. (This reporter’s own experience suggests the country’s low score is well-deserved.)

At the positively wretched end of the scale it’s no surprise to see Yemen, Sudan, Syria and other Middle Eastern and African countries. But some of their scores look almost handsome beside the worst of the lot: Tied for last place are AfghanistanNorth Korea and Somalia, all having scored a measly 8 on the index.

Here are the world’s 10 most corrupt nations, starting with the worst:

  1. Somalia
  2. North Korea (tied with Somalia and Afghanistan for No. 175)
  3. Afghanistan (tied with North Korea and Somalia for No. 175)
  4. Sudan
  5. South Sudan
  6. Libya
  7. Iraq
  8. Uzbekistan
  9. Turkmenistan (tied with Uzbekistan and Syria for No. 168)
  10. Syria (tied with Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan for No. 168)

” God has You in HIS Plan…Do You Have GOD in Your Plan ” ?

Have faith in God’s plan

Once there was a sweeper in a well known temple and he was very sincere and devoted. Every time he saw thousands of devotees coming to take darshan of the Lord,he thought that the Lord is standing all the time and giving darshan and He must be feeling very tired.

So one day very innocently he asked the Lord whether he can take the place of the Lord for a day so that the Lord can have some relief and rest. The Deity of Temple replied, “I do not mind taking a break. I will transform you like Myself, but you must do one thing.you must just stand here like Me, smile at everyone and just give benedictions.
Do not interfere with anything and do not say anything.Remember you are the deity and you just have faith that I have a master plan for everything. The sweeper agreed to this. The next day the sweeper took the position of the deity and a rich man came and prayed to the Lord. He offered a nice donation and prayed that his business should be prosperous. While going, the rich man inadvertently left his wallet full of money right there. Now the sweeper in the form of deity could not call him and so he decided to control himself and keep quiet. Just then a poor man came and he put one coin in the Hundi and said that it was all he could afford and he prayed to the Lord that he should continue to be engaged in the Lord’s service. He also said that his family was in dire need of some basic needs but he left it to the good hands of the Lord to give some solution.
When he opened his eyes, he saw the wallet left by the rich man.The poor man thanked the Lord for His kindness and took the wallet very innocently. The sweeper in the form of the Deity could not say anything and he had to just keep smiling.
At that point a sailor walked in. He prayed for his safe journey as he was going on a long trip.Just then the rich man came with the police and said that somebody has stolen his wallet and seeing the sailor there, he asked the police to arrest him thinking that he might have taken it.
Now the sweeper in the form of Deity wanted to say that the sailor is not the thief but he could not say so and he became greatly frustrated. The sailor looked at the Lord and asked why he, an innocent person, is being punished. The rich man looked at the Lord and thanked Him for finding the thief. The sweeper in the deity form could no more tolerate and he thought that even if the real Lord had been here, he would have definitely interfered and hence he started speaking and said that the sailor is not the thief but it was the poor man who took away the wallet. The rich man was very thankful as also the sailor.
In the night, the real Lord came and He asked the sweeper how the day was. The sweeper said, “I thought it would be easy, but now I know that Your days are not easy, but I did one good thing.” Then he explained the whole episode to the Lord.
The Lord became very upset on hearing this whereas the sweeper thought the Lord would appreciate him for the good deed done. The Lord asked, “Why did you not just stick to the plan? You had no faith in Me. Do you think that I do not understand the hearts of all those who come here? All the donation which the rich man gave was all stolen money and it is only a fraction of what he really has and he wants Me to reciprocate unlimitedly. The single coin offered by the poor man was the last coin he was having and he gave it to Me out of faith.
The sailor might not have done anything wrong, but if the sailor were to go in the ship that night he was about to die because of bad weather and instead if he is arrested he would be in the jail and he would have been saved form a greater calamity.
The wallet should go to the poor man because he will use it in My service. I was going to reduce the rich man’s karma also by doing this and save the sailor also. But you canceled everything because you thought you know My plan and you made your own plans.”
Moral: God has plans and justice for everyone….We just have to have patience!!!!!
This reminds me about another nice quote which we used to see in a church on the way to Melbourne Mahaprabhu mandir.

“GOD has you in HIS plan. Do you have GOD in your plan?”

Message For The Day…” Devotion is Attachment to God “…

In every one of you, God is the moving spirit, the very Soul; how then can you be evil, when you are here fulfilling God’s purpose, according to His will, His plan and His law? God has endowed you with many faculties so that you may seek Him and reach Him. You are not therefore, a helpless and neglected individual undergoing a sentence of death. You are an embodiment of bliss, born to a rich heritage, which is all yours! Only you fail to ask. Have faith in your destiny and work steadily to attain it! Devotion is attachment to God – you need not leave hearth and home for it. If the seed is planted away from the parent tree, will it grow any different? No! Boil the seed and then it will not grow again. Similarly, boil your instincts and impulses, and scorch the sensory cravings that enslave you. Then you will get nearer to God, wherever you may be.

An Eagle”s Eye View…Spectacular Footage !!!

Spectacular footage of Australia’s north west desert region has been captured, inadvertently, by a sea eagle that ‘stole’ a video camera and took it for a 70-mile flight.

The lens recorded the bird’s flapping wings – in sound and vision – the crevasses it flew through, the desert it crossed and finally the amusing moments when it landed and began pecking at the device.

The motion-sensor camera had been set up by Aboriginal rangers in a gorge near the Margaret River last May in the hope of capturing images of fresh-water crocodiles.

The sea eagle stole a camera set up to record crocodiles and inadvertently captured stunning footage of the Australian outback
The camera picks up the sound and view of the bird's wings as it flies for 70 miles

The camera had been set up to record fresh-water crocodiles but instead recorded the crevasses along the route taken by the bird

The camera had been set up to record fresh-water crocodiles but instead recorded the crevasses along the route taken by the bird

But within weeks the camera had disappeared. No-one, they agreed, would dare to steal it from croc territory, so they believed it had somehow fallen into the water.

Then, just a few weeks ago, ranger Roneil Skeen and his colleagues received a message from a Parks and Wildlife ranger saying a small device had been found near another river more than 70 miles away.

The video camera revealed the identity of the thief and just where the scoundrel had taken it.

Rangers were able to extract three 30-second clips that showed the juvenile sea eagle scooping up the camera and taking to the air with it, capturing amazing scenes of the Australian outback.

The stolen camera captured the stunning scenery of Australia's desert region

The curious sea eagle is then seen pecking at the camera after it finally lands after a long flight

When the camera was eventually deposited on firm ground, the eagle can be seen approaching the lens and pecking at it.

‘There are 14 of us rangers and we’ve been pretty amazed at what we’ve seen on the camera,’ said Mr Skeen, a member of the Gooniyandi Aboriginal tribe.

‘We’ve had camera traps moved by animals before, but none of them have taken off – a sort of flying camera. It was quite incredible to see it’.

Mr Skeen told the ABC: ‘We knew this was a juvenile eagle because the adult sea eagles, once they get their food or their prey, they usually take it right up into the sky and drop it

But this one was still learning because he just took it near the cliff-side and he never dropped it. He just put it down and started pecking at it.

‘An adult one would have flown it right up the top and yeah, for sure, it would have smashed that camera.’ It won’t happen again, said Mr Skeen.

He and his colleagues have resolved to bolt their camera down next time.
