Nature “s Fury at Uttarakhand …Is It Because of Inviting the Wrath Of Goddess Dhari Devi ?

Uttarakhand’s raging rivers may have washed away entire towns but belief in the bizarre remains intact in the hill state.

Garhwal’s village folk, known for their childlike adherence to superstition, have now shifted the blame for the devastating flash floods and landslides of last week to the act of shifting the idol of Dhari Devi from its riverine home in the middle of the Alaknanda at Srinagar.

Dhari Devi is an avatar of Kali, and is widely believed to be the guardian angel of Char Dham pilgrims. Dunked in the middle of a growing controversy related to its imminent submergence by the expansion of the under-construction Srinagar Hydropower Project, the idol was cut away from its base by employees of the Alaknanda Hydro Power Co. (AHPC) Ltd, a subsidiary of infrastructure giant GVK, and shifted out from the Dhari Devi temple at about 7.30 pm on Sunday, June 16, by priests and locals.

Lightning flashed and a thunderstorm broke even as the idol was being moved to its new location on a raised platform above the old temple. The Alaknanda was in spate soon after, devastating Srinagar as it raged and surged through the town.

Former secretary of the Dhari Devi temple committee Devi Prasad Pandey says, “By the evening, the temple was under knee-deep water. There were reports that heavy rainfall would take place in the night, so shifting the Dhari Devi statue was the only alternative left. We shifted the idol by 6.30 pm and had we not taken the step we would have failed to save the Dhari Devi statue, which would have also got swept away.”

10 kilometres downstream of the Dhari Devi temple, construction work of the 330 MW Alaknanda Hydro Power Project is underway. The project, which should have been completed by 2011, has faced tough opposition from local residents as well as the BJP. In 2012, BJP leaders, including L.K. Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley petitioned the prime minister against the project.

GVK was in 2006 tasked with completing the project that had remained frozen for the past two decades. Petitions filed in the Uttarakhand High Court and later in the Supreme Court had sought a stay on enhancement of the project from its originally planned 200 MW to 330 MW, a development that would submerge the temple. AHPC Ltd planned to save the temple by raising the temple on vertical beams.

The environment ministry had on May 7 issued a stop work notice on the temple’s relocation, revoking its order later the same month after criticism from the apex court which is yet to pronounce its final order on the issue.

VHP leader Ashok Singhal says: “People staged protest against the hydro-power project and opposed the idea of raising the statue. Despite this, the Dhari Devi idol was removed from her temple on June 16 and placed on the platform. The goddess exhibited her anger and Kedarnath and other parts suffered damage. Dhari Devi wanted to teach the atheists ruling this country a lesson and to tell them not to touch the Himalayas and its rivers.”

Professor Anand Kumar, sociologist, Jawaharlal Nehru University says: “In matters of faith there is no logic. And this has always been a source of anxiety. All over the world holy places have been shifted. At times changing river courses have flooded temples and mosques and they have been moved to different places. Nature’s supremacy has been accepted by all. But the shift of the Dhari Devi temple and the flood is mere coincidence.”

Professor Akhtar-ul Wasey, director of Zakir Hussain Institute of Islamic Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia, agrees. He adds: “The most important thing to remember is the treatment meted out to the hills and nature. This had to happen. Beliefs have their own place and those who believe in them can stick with them. But this was a disaster in the making.”

Dhari Devi is a much-worshipped goddess of the region. Garhwalis say that the stone deity changes its countenance from that of a girl to a woman and then to an old lady as the day progresses. The legend of the temple has it that the idol was trapped against a rock near the village of Dharo during a flood and was found only when villagers heard it wailing. It was then that a divine voice directed them to install the idol there. That’s how the temple came into being.

Message For The Day….Keep your Heart Clean For GOD “s Stay over There….

Restlessness (ashanti) is on the rise because of attachment, hate and infatuation. These are born out of ignorance, which causes delusion. Things seen in darkness cannot be clear – a rope is mistaken to be a snake, a piece of glass may be coveted as a diamond. So this indistinct light, that is, this mistaken notion, must go. This can happen only when the methods of discovering the truth are learnt. That is what the Scriptures and the learned ones teach. They guide you to direct your outward seeking senses inward. The inner realm of impulses, instincts, habits, prejudices and attitudes must be cleansed before God can be reflected clear and bright therein.

Jet Plane Engine Explodes Just Before Take Off !!!

This is the dramatic moment one of the engines of an aeroplane carrying more than 300 passengers explodes as it prepares to take off.

The Airbus A330 was taxiing along the runway at Manchester Airport yesterday when its right engine suddenly developed a fault and exploded.

The aircraft had fortunately not yet left the ground and the pilot was able to quickly bring it under control.

The Thomas Cook Airlines flight TCX314 had been carrying 325 passengers to the Dominican Republic at the time of the incident.

A dramatic video posted online shows how the engine suddenly explodes as the plane makes it way down the runway.

A flame can be seen coming from the engine before it begins to billow smoke.

The plane then veers slightly from one side to the other as the pilot swiftly gets the aircraft under control.

Emergency services including three fire engines then attend to the stationary vehicle.

A Thomas Cook Airlines spokesman confirmed an investigation was underway into the incident.

Top 10 Airlines Offering Best Economy Class Seats !!!!

HAVE you ever lingered in the first or business class sections of a plane, longing to stretch out on a lie-flat bed, before begrudgingly continuing down the aisle of the plane to your tiny cattle class seat?

Well, while we’d all love to fly in luxury, these airlines offer the next best thing – a top-notch economy class offering that makes flying less of a pain and more enjoyable.

Here are the 10 best airlines for economy class seats, according to the Skytrax World Airline Awards, the world’s largest survey of air passengers with over 18 million respondents.

A range of factors make a good economy class seat including cleanliness, design, seat comfort, width, legroom and the amount of recline available. The entertainment offering, level of service and food are also important.

Do you agree with the following list?

10. Malaysia Airlines

9. Thai Airways

7. Oman Air

6. Japan Airlines

 5.Qatar Airways
 4.Singapore Airlines
3. Korean Air
 2.Asiana Airlines
 1. Garuda Indonesia…..

proof that airlines can rebuild their reputation, Garuda took out the top spot after a dark period in its history. The airline was banned in the EU along with three other Indonesian carriers following the crash of a 737 plane, with the ban lifted in 2009.

But passengers love its clean, new cabin with comfortable seats and decent legroom, plus an attentive crew.

Message For The Day….Pure Heart and Pure Mind only Pleases HIM ….

God does not want the flower or fruit that you can buy in the street. Instead, bring to Him the fragrant flower of a pure heart and the fruit of your mind, mellowed from spiritual practices (Sadhana). That pleases Him the most, not the items that are readily available in the market for purchase. Those items that you buy do not elevate your mind – however, your spiritual practices will do it for you! To get a taste for that kind of effort, you must keep the company of the good and great, and take delight in noble thoughts. By whatever means that is available to you, increase your stock of bliss and improve your discrimination. Try to store as many of these as possible, so that you draw up from the reservoir of your storage, whenever the need arises.

Hidden in Plain Sight: During my visit to the Amalfi Coast in Italy I ventured for a day to Sorrento. This gorgeous island had an amazing coastline that I stuck to for the day. Because of a mix-up with ferry dock numbers I missed my ferry and had to wait two hours for the next one. I decided I would head back to town and went down a street I had passed a few times that day. The ground opened up, almost out of nowhere, where this absolute beauty, apparently “Valle dei Mulini”, was which I gazed at and shot for almost the entire period before I left for my next boat.

Good Gesture From CEO Delta Airlines !!!!

AN AIRLINE boss has given his seat to a tired, stressed mum who needed to get home to her daughter.

Delta Airlines CEO Richard Anderson was booked on a flight from Washington D.C. to Atlanta on a day where the airline faced numerous delays and cancellations.

Jessie Frank was also trying to get to Atlanta, and had been waiting all day to get on a flight. Ms Frank was desperate to get home to pick up her diabetic daughter from summer camp.

At 9.30pm, she was eighth on the list of standby passengers waiting to fly to Atlanta before the D.C. curfew hit at 10pm.

Seven names went by. The system showed zero seats left.

Ms Frank was about to give up when the flight attendant from Delta airlines rushed her down the jetway and shook her head.

But then something wonderful happened.

The flight attendant paused, talked to someone and then waved her down to the plane.

“A vaguely familiar face met me at the doorway, not in uniform so probably an off-duty pilot I had seen before. He quickly grabbed my roll-aboard, helped clear a space in the overhead, and showed me to my seat.”

As the flight descended into Atlanta the flight attendant announced that the plane had a special guest on board flying in the jump seat – the spare seat behind the pilots in the cockpit. He was riding in that seat because he had given up his place to allow one more person on the flight.

That man was Richard Anderson, CEO of Delta Airlines.

Overwhelmed with emotion Ms Frank took to Facebook to pen an open letter to Mr Anderson.

In it she writes: “You, Richard Anderson, the CEO of Delta, did all that for me, just an average, middle-aged, woman with, as far as anyone at Delta knew, no special reason to get home. But more importantly, it was all of your employees that day that did so much helping me to get home – and now I know why. Because Delta is led by you, Richard Anderson, a dedicated and inspiring leader who so clearly demonstrates, at his very core, that he leads by example, and does not set himself above all those who allow this airline to exist.

“Thank you, Richard Anderson. As a result of your leadership and the actions of yourself and your employees, I had my special day with my special child. You and your employees gave us both one more day of happiness, and for that, we are both very grateful. I have always been a loyal Delta customer, but Thursday solidified that loyalty for life! To all Delta employees who helped me on Thursday: thank you again.”

Delta Airlines have confirmed the incident occurred but have so far declined to comment.

Ms Frank’s letter has since been shared 1697 times. Proof that good customer service may be the best PR of all.

Just For Laugh !!!!….True Mother in law !!!!

Two women came before wise King Solomon, dragging between them a young man in a three-piece suit. “This young lawyer agreed to marry my daughter,” said the first one. “No! He agreed to marry MY daughter,” said the other.

And so they haggled before the King until he called for silence.

“Bring me my biggest sword,” said Solomon, “and I shall hew the young attorney in half. Each of you shall receive a half.”

“Sounds good to me,” said the first woman. But the other woman said, “Oh Sire, do not spill innocent blood. Let the other woman’s daughter marry him.”

The wise King did not hesitate a moment. “The attorney must marry the first lady’s daughter,” he proclaimed.

“But she was willing to hew him in two!” exclaimed the King’s court.

“Indeed,” said wise King Solomon. “That shows she is the TRUE mother-in-law.”

13 Year Old From Bihar Cracks IIT Entrance Exam !!!!

Satyam Kumar, a Bihar farmer’s son who is just 13-years old, has cleared the fiercely competitive Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) for which 150,000 candidates had appeared this year.

Satyam, who passed his class 12 exam last year, secured an impressive all-India rank of 679.

“We are proud of him. He has done something special at this age,” Satyam’s father Sidhnath Singh, a farmer, told IANS.

IIT-JEE (Advanced) results for admission into IITs were declared Friday.

According to IIT-JEE website, Sahal Kaushik from Delhi was the youngest person to have cracked the exam in 2010 at the age of 14. But now this record is held by Satyam.

“Now Satyam is the youngest to crack the IIT-JEE,” an IIT official said.

Satyam, who hails from Bakhorapur village in Bhojpur district, had last year qualified for admission into IIT at the age of 12-and-a-half years after he got a special permission from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). He had then secured an all-India rank of 8,137.

Not satisfied with his low rank, he appeared for the IIT-JEE preliminary examination this year again and qualified.

“Satyam has improved his rank by his hard work and determination,” his father said.

He appeared for the entrance examination in Kota, Rajasthan, where he had been studying. He was one of the 150,000 candidates who appeared for the examination this year.

Earlier, Satyam Kumar had said he wanted to establish a software company on the lines of social networking website Facebook.
