A Russian man has outwitted a bank by sending back a credit card contract with his own, handwritten, amendments to the contract for zero fees and zero interest. Now he’s had a win in court
A MAN who decided to get his own back on a bank which sent him an unsolicited credit card in an ingenious way has had his first win in court.
Dmitry Agarkov decided to write his own small print in a credit card contract and has had his changes upheld in court. He’s now suing Russia’s leading online bank for more than 24 million roubles ($A800,000) in compensation, RT.com reports.
Disappointed by the terms of the unsolicited offer for a credit card from Tinkoff Credit Systems in 2008, Mr Agarkov, 42, from the city of Voronezh, decided to hand write his own credit terms.
The trick was that Agarkov simply scanned the bank’s document and “amended” the small print with his own terms, scribbled in his own handwriting.
He opted for a 0 per cent interest rate and no fees, adding that the customer “is not obliged to pay any fees and charges imposed by bank tariffs.”
The bank didn’t read “the amendments”, as it signed and certified the document, then sent him a credit card.
It took two years before the bank decided to terminate Mr Agarkov’s credit card because of overdue payments.
In 2012, it sued him for 45,000 roubles ($A1500) – an amount that included the remaining balance, fees, and late payment charges, which violated the actual agreement.
The court decided that the agreement Agarkov crafted was valid, and required him to settle only his balance of 19,000 roubles ($A635).
“They signed the documents without looking. They said what usually their borrowers say in court: ‘We have not read it,’ his lawyer said.
Tinkoff founder Oleg Tinkov tweeted: “Our lawyers think, he is going to get not 24 million, but really four years in prison for fraud.”
The next hearing will be in September.

Strange But True !!! A Skyscraper sans Elevator !!!!
IT WAS meant to be a striking symbol of hope and prosperity.
But a planning bungle of epic proportions has allegedly left a new skyscraper in Spain without a crucial element – an elevator capable of reaching the top, local news site El Pais reported, claiming to have sighted the building contract.
The 200 metre tall In Tempo building, located in the Spanish holiday spot of Benidorm, was originally meant to be 20 storeys high.
But excited builders decided to extend it to 47 storeys. Only problem was, they allegedly forgot to redesign the elevator system to account for this, meaning the current design sees lifts able to reach level 20, beyond that there’s only stairs. There just isn’t space for a redesigned elevator.
The building was due to be completed in 2009 but remains 94 per cent finished. The twin towers contain 269 units.
It dwarfs neighbouring high-rises, which have popped up amid a decade-long building bonanza.
The architects working on the project have reportedly resigned.

“குழந்தை…. கரும்பை யானைக்கு கொடுக்கலாமா ?!!!”
தஞ்சைக் கிராமமொன்றில் ஸ்ரீசரணர்கள் தங்கியிருந்த போது கரும்பு அறுவடையாகி, நிறையக் கட்டுக்கள் ஸ்ரீமடத்திற்கு ஸமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தன.
கரும்புக் கட்டைப் பார்த்த ஒரு குழந்தை தனக்கு வேண்டுமென்று அழ ஆரம்பித்தது. குழந்தையின் பெற்றோர் ஸ்ரீசரணாளிடம் அதற்குக் கணை, குலைக்கட்டி முதலியன இருந்ததால் கரும்பு தருவதற்கில்லை என்றனர்.
ஸ்ரீசரணர் அவர்களைக் கையமர்த்தினார். குழந்தையிடம் ஒரு கரும்பு கொடுக்கப் பணித்தார்.
“நம்ம மடத்து ஆனை நீ பாத்திருக்கியோ? ஒனக்கு அது ரொம்ப இஷ்டந்தானே?” என்று குழந்தையைக் கேட்டார்.
“பாத்திருக்கேனே! எனக்கு ஆனை-ன்னா ரொம்ப இஷ்டமாச்சே!”
“பூஜைக்கு அது வரும். அப்போ கரும்பை அதுக்குக் குடுத்துடறயா? அது மளுக்கு மளுக்குனு முறிச்சுத் தின்னுமே? பாத்தா ரொம்ப வேடிக்கையாயிருக்குமே!”
“அது என்னெ ஒண்ணும் பண்ணாதா?”
“பண்ணாது, பண்ணாது. நான் ஒன் பக்கத்துலயே இருந்துண்டு பாத்துக்கறேன்.”
“ஆனா ஸரி.”
அப்படியே ஆனை வர, ஸ்ரீசரணர் அருகிருந்த தைரியத்தில் குழந்தை ஆசை ஆசையாக அதற்குக் கரும்பைத் தூக்க முடியாமல் தூக்கி – அல்லது இழுத்து வந்து கொடுக்க; அது ‘ஆவ்ரி, ஆவ்ரி’ என்று ஆனந்தமாக முறித்து விழுங்க, அதைவிட ஆனந்தமாகக் குழந்தை முழுக் கரும்பும் தன்னாலேயே தனக்கு நஷ்டமானதைக் கருதாது ஆனந்திக்க – கொடுத்த – கொடை பெற்ற அவ்விரு ஜீவன்களின் ஆனந்தமும் சேர்ந்து கரும்பிதயரின் முகத்தில் பிரகாசித்தது.
தானே அநுபவித்து நுகராமல் பிறருக்கு ஈந்து அதனாலேயே நுகருமாறு ஈசாவாஸ்ய மறைமுடி கூறும் அந்தத் தியாக நுகர்ச்சியின்பத்தை ஒரு சிறு குழந்தை பெறச் செய்து விட்டார், பெருமனத்தர்!

Message For The Day….Feed the Poor First Before Preaching Spirituality to Them ….
There is no point in distributing the essence of spirituality (Adhyatma rasa) to underfed and weak people; give them food (Anna rasa) first, make them strong enough to entertain strong beliefs and contain strong ideals. Physical hunger must first be appeased by simple and pure (Sathwik) food. Then the repetition of the Name of the Lord must be undertaken; it can be any name that appeals to you the most. Do not treat the Name lightly. Respect it even if you hear it from the lips of a beggar, who uses it to procure alms. Though the person who utters the Name is bad or though his motive in uttering it may not be noble, do not ill treat the Name for its purity can never be harmed. Thank them for reminding you of the Lord and go your way.
Message For The Day…Journey of Life ….
Picture this inward journey as walking through a four storied building to get to the top – the ground floor being the union with God through action (Karma Yoga), and the other floors being Devotion, Wisdom and Detachment (Bhakthi, Jnana and Vairagya). When it is just a nascent fruit, it is karma. That is, all are capable of the activity, and so it is the first step in spirituality as well. When it matures and is rendered free from egoism and greed, it becomes worship, and so, it leads one onto the second floor, Bhakthi. When it is ripe and sweet, that is to say, when the devotee achieves complete self-surrender, then it is the acquisition of Jnana (Wisdom). When the fruit drops from the tree, it marks full detachment (Vairagya); the fourth floor of God’s mansion is then reached.
