We’re getting many comments this month about the return of the Milky Way for late night and early morning stargazers.

Our friend Shreenivasan Manievannan posted this photo to EarthSky Facebook. He wrote that, from this beach in southern California, even with all the light pollution from nearby Los Angeles, the Milky Way rose and was visible to the unaided eye. Thank you, Shreenivasan! Beautiful photo.
We’re getting many comments this month about the return of the Milky Way for late night and early morning stargazers. The best time to see it in the evening is around August, but you can also glimpse it now – stretching across a dark country sky – if you stay up late, or get up early.

“Palace of Pebbles…”
A Handmade Palace of PebblesWhen French postman Ferdinand Cheval walked his route, he would collect pebbles and put them in his wheelbarrow, taking them home with him. It all began when Ferdinand tripped over a strangely-shaped rock, which he then decided to pick up and take home with him. In 1879, Ferdinand’s hobby became a real project – once he was done with his work, he would work on constructing his pebble palace through the night. 33 years later, Ferdinand finally completed his palace, now known as Le Palais ideal.

“இனிக்கும் இலையும் கசக்கும் இலையும்’ !!!
வாகீசக் கலாநிதி கி.வா.ஜ.வுக்கு பல மூலிகைகளைத் தெரியும். உணவில் கீரைகளையும், மூலிகைகளையும் சேர்த்துக் கொண்டால் நோய் வராமல் தடுக்கலாம் என்று அடிக்கடி சொல்வார். இவர் பர்மாவுக்குச் சென்றிருந்தபோது, அன்பர்கள் இவரை சிவத்தலம் என்ற இடத்துக்கு அழைத்துச் சென்றார்கள்.
அங்கே குன்றின்மேல் “குன்று தோறாடும் குமரன்’ கோயில் உள்ளது. கி.வா.ஜ. குன்றின் மேல் ஏறி முருகனை வணங்கிவிட்டு கீழே இறங்கி வந்தார். அடிவாரத்தில் ஒரு மடம் இருக்கிறது. அங்கே நிறைய செடி, கொடிகள், மூலிகைகள் இருந்தன. இவர் அங்கிருந்த குன்றிமணிக் கொடியில் உள்ள இலையைப் பறித்து ஒருவரிடம் கொடுத்து… “இதை உண்ணுங்கள் இனிக்கும்’ என்றார்.
அந்த அன்பர் அதனை உண்டு “இனிக்கிறது’ என்றார். உடனே இவர் “நீங்கள் அதிலிருந்து இன்னும் இலையைப் பறித்து வாருங்கள். அவற்றையே “கசக்கும் இலை’ ஆக்குகிறேன் என்றார். அனைவருக்கும் வியப்பு. எப்படிச் செய்ய முடியும்? இனிக்கும் இலையைக் கசக்கும் இலை ஆக்க முடியுமா? ஆவலுடன் அன்பர் இலையைப் பறித்து இவர் கையில் கொடுத்தார்.
எல்லோரும் ஆவலாகக் கவனித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்… இவர் அந்த இலைகளை இரண்டு கைகளிலும் வைத்துக் கசக்கினார்.
மற்றவர்களைப் பார்த்து “இப்போது இது நான் கசக்கும் இலை ஆகி விட்டதல்லவா” என்றார். அனைவரும் சிரித்தனர்.

Joke of the Day…” If Words and Figures do not Match …” !!!
It was five in the evening, the bank was almost closed. All of a sudden, the Branch Manager received a phone call from a lady.
In a sweet voice she said – sir I urgently need Rs.10000. I’ll reach your bank in 10 minutes. Could you please wait for me?
Her voice was so captivating that the Branch Manager could not say ‘no’.
He instructed his cashier to keep the cash ready. The cashier obeyed his boss with great reluctance .
After a while, a dark complexioned lady with ugliest of face and a huge tummy came to the bank, presented a cheque and asked for the money.
The BM was taken aback, as he was expecting a cute lady.
He immediately told the lady that they had already closed the cash
for the day and she should come next day.
The cashier was so furious and he asked the BM, if his intention was to not to pay, why he was made to sit late.
BM – It is the Universal rule of banking that……..
