Modern education is mere bookish knowledge, confined to what is contained in the texts. Today many are pursuing such secular education only (i.e., value neutral). Secular education alone is not enough. It must be supplemented with spiritual education. Spiritual education has its effect on one’s heart, and is called Educare. Educare means bringing out the latent Divinity, that is hidden in the heart of human beings and establishing it as an ideal to the whole world. Through Educare, you must develop the principle of love and students must follow the path of truth. True education is that which is suffused with truth and love. Secular education is for making a living, whereas spiritual education is for reaching the goal of life. It is the duty of students as well as educators to harmonize the secular education with spiritual education. This is the prime necessity today.

” உனக்கு ஒன்றுமில்லை … போ …” !!!

சந்திரமௌளியின் மாமா ராணுவத்தில் கேப்டனாகப் பணிபுரிந்தவர். கடவுள் நம்பிக்கையுடையவராயிருந்தாலும் பெரியவாளிடத்திலும் ஈடுபாடு இல்லாதவர். அவரது குடும்பத்தினரும் அப்படியே.
வேலூரில் வேலை பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்த அவரது மாப்பிள்ளைக்கு திடீரென்று சிறு நீரகத்தில் கோளாறு. வேலூரில் பரிசோதனை செய்த டாக்டர் கையை விரித்துவிட்டார்.
அன்றிரவு மிகவும் துக்கத்துடன் இருந்த அந்த கேப்டனின் பெண் சொப்பனத்தில் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாள் தோன்றி “உன் மாங்கல்யத்தைத் தருகிறாயா?” என்று கேட்டார்கள். விடிந்தவுடன், அப்போது உடனடியாக ஒரு மஞ்சள் கயிறு கூட இல்லாத நிலையில் ஒரு சணற் கயிற்றில் மஞ்சளைக் கோர்த்து அணிந்து கொண்டு, மாங்கல்யத்தைப் பெரியவாளுக்காக எடுத்து வைத்துவிட்டாள்.
பின் மௌளியிடம் போனில் விஷயத்தைச் சொன்னார்கள். மௌளி அவர்களை உடனே வந்து பெரியவாளை தரிசனம் செய்யச் சொன்னார். ஆனால், அவர்களுக்குப் பதினைந்து நாட்களுக்குப் பிறகுதான் காஞ்சி மடத்திற்கு வர முடிந்தது.
உள்ளே படுத்துக் கொண்டிருந்த பெரியவாள் மௌளியிடம், “யாராவது தரிசனத்திற்கு வந்திருக்கிறார்களா” என்று வினவினார்கள். மௌளி, “பெரியவாளுக்குச் சிரமம் வேண்டாம்; வெளியில் வரும்போது தரிசனம் கொடுக்கலாம்” என்று சொன்னார்.
அதைக் காதில் வாங்கிக்கொள்ளாமல் தம்பதிகளை உள்ளேயே அழைத்து வரும்படி உத்திரவிட்டார்கள். அவர்கள் உள்ளே வந்ததும் மௌளியின் மாமா பெண்ணைப் பார்த்து. “அதைக் கொண்டு வந்திருக்கிறாயா? தா, தா .. ” என்று கேட்டு மாங்கல்யத்தைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டார்கள்.
பின்பு பக்கத்திலிருந்த பாலுவிடம் ஒரு பழம் கொண்டுவரச் சொன்னார்கள். அவர் சாத்துக்குடி கொண்டு வந்ததும், “இந்த புளிப்புப் பழம் வேண்டாம்; வேறு நல்ல பழம் கொண்டுவா” என்றார்கள்.
ஒரு நல்ல ஆப்பிள் வந்தது. அதை நகத்தால் கிள்ளிக் கொண்டே வெகு நேரம் கேப்டன் மாப்பிள்ளையே பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்துவிட்டு அந்த ஆப்பிளை அவர்களிடம் கொடுத்துவிட்டு, “உனக்கு ஒன்றுமில்லை, போ” என்று கூறினார்கள்.
வேலூர் சென்றவுடன் மாப்பிள்ளையை மறுபடியும் பரிசோதனை செய்த சிறு நீரக சிறப்பு மருத்துவருக்கு ஒரே ஆச்சரியம்.
கிட்னி இரண்டும் ஒரு குறையுமில்லாமல் நன்றாக வேலை செய்தன.
“என்ன நடந்தது?” என்று கேட்டு விவரம் அறிந்தவுடன் அந்த டாக்டர், “Oh, he is God; He can do anything” என்று வியப்புடன் சொன்னார்.
20 வருஷத்திற்கு மேல் ஆகிவிட்டது. இதுவரை [2006] எந்தத் தொந்திரவும் இல்லாமல் இருக்கிறார்.
முன்பு பெரியவாள் என்றாலே உதாசீன, அலட்சிய பாவத்துடன் இருந்த அவர்கள் வீட்டில் இப்போது பெரியவாள் படங்களைத் தவிர வேறு ஒரு படமும் கிடையாது!.

Message For the Day…” What is Liberation ?..Help Ever , Hurt Never … “
Do not find faults with others. If you point an accusing finger at someone, remember three fingers are pointing to you. Wear the ornament of Truth to adorn your neck (Sathyam Kantasya Bhushanam). Charity is the true ornament that make your hands beautiful and elegant (Hasthasya Bhushanam Dhanam). Thus you must sanctify each limb of your body by engaging in sacred activities. Your eyes should look at only sacred things. Do you know what an enormous power is latent in your eyes? There are crores of light rays in them. In olden days, people used to invoke the grace of Sun God to have a better vision. When you performSurya-namaskar (worship of Sun God) and invoke His grace, the light rays in your eyes will become more effulgent and inspire you. People aspire to attain liberation. What is liberation? Help ever, hurt never – that is true liberation. To get rid of attachment (moha) is true liberation (moksha).
Message For the Day…” If you hurt others’ Feelings , You will be Hurt , Twice as Much …”
Women should look after their homes diligently and conduct themselves in a pleasing manner. Treat your guests in a cordial manner and to the extent possible. Empathise with those who are in difficulties, comfort and console them with soothing words. Those who talk harsh words are verily demons. If you hurt others’ feelings, you will be hurt twice as much and you cannot escape from the consequences of your actions. Embodiments of Love! These teachings are simple to practice in your daily life. But do not take them lightly – they can confer on you liberation! It is your good fortune (adrishtam) to know them! What is good fortune? A-drishtam is that which cannot be seen. You may not be able to see the results of your noble conduct and meritorious deeds, but they will confer on you all happiness and comforts in due course of time.
Message For the Day…” God will Never Forget His Devotee…”
People today speak about God having forgotten them. This is not true. Most often, it is the devotee who gives up God. It is the devotee who forgets Him. It is their own feelings that are reflected in their utterances. People forget God and indulge in the world and one day they suddenly declare that God has forgotten and forsaken them. Separation from God is the primary cause for people wallowing in sensuous pleasures. Mind is the cause of one’s pleasure and pain. It must be directed towards God to secure freedom from pleasure and pain. You stray away from God and think God is moving away from you. God can and will never forget His devotee. God is never away from you. He is always with you, caring for you and waiting for you to turn to Him.

‘கலவையில் பிறந்த பேரொளி’ என்ற புத்தகத்தில் இருந்து சில நினைவுகள்.

கருணை பொழியும் காமாட்சி வாழும் காஞ்சி
காமகோடி பீடம் விளங்கும் எழிலான காஞ்சி.
க்ஷேமத்தினை அளிக்க வல்ல ஏகம்பனின் காஞ்சி
சம்பத்தை அளிக்கின்ற வரதனின் காஞ்சி.
அந்தக் காஞ்சீபுரத்தில் இரவுப் பூக்களை மெல்ல உதிர்த்து விட்டு சூரியன் தன் விடியல் வெளிச்சத்தோடு பிரவேசித்தான்.
வழக்கம்போல் காமாட்சித் தாய் மடியில் சீராட்சி புரிந்து வரும் காமகோடிப் பெரியவாளின் கண்கொள்ளா தரிசனம் காண திரளான கூட்டம். ஏக்கத்தைத் தேக்கியுள்ள ஏழை மக்களின் கவலை முகங்கள் காஞ்சிப் பெரியவாளின் கருணை முகத்தைக் கண்டவுடன் ஏக்கத்தை மறந்தன. கவலைகள் பறந்தன. பரமாச்சார்யாள் வழங்கும் ஆசியிலே மெய்ம்மறந்து நீங்காத சுகம் பெற்றன. அருள்மழை பொழிந்து கொண்டிருக்கும் அந்த ஆண்டவன் அருகினிலே நான்கைந்து மூக்குக் கண்ணாடிகள்.
அன்று மின்னொளி இல்லாமையால் அன்பர் ஒருவர் ‘டார்ச்’ விளக்கொளியைக் காட்டத் தம்மிடம் சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட கடிதங்களை ஒவ்வொன்றாகப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார் பரமாச்சார்யாள்.
அதில் ஒன்றில் நான்கைந்து பக்கங்கள் அடங்கிய சம்ஸ்கிருத ஸ்லோகங்கள். யாரோ ஒரு அன்பர் தமது இல்லத்தில் நடைபெறும் திருமணத்திற்கான பத்திரிகையை உடன் வைத்து அதனுடன் காணிக்கையாக அந்த ஸ்லோகங்களை எழுதி அனுப்பியிருந்தார்.
மெல்லப் படித்துக் கொண்டிருந்த கருணை மேகம் தம் முகத்தை மேல் நோக்கியவாறு பார்த்து விழிகளாலே ஒரு வினாவை எழுப்பியது.
ஆம்! “இந்த ஸ்லோகங்களைப் படிக்கிறவா இங்கே யாராவது இருக்காளா ?” என்ற வினாதான் அது.
அனைவரும் அமைதியாயிருந்தனர். பெரியவர் விடவில்லை.
தமது திருவாய் மலர்ந்து வாய்மொழியாகவே, “இங்கே சம்ஸ்க்ருதம் தெரிஞ்சவா யாராவது இருக்காளா? இந்த ஸ்லோகத்தைப் படிக்கணும் !” என்று கேட்டார்.
அப்போது அங்கே ஓரமாக நின்று கொண்டிருந்த ஓர் ஏழைப் பிராம்மணர் பெரியவாள் அருகே வந்து, “நான் படிக்கலாமா?” என பணிவுடன் கேட்டுக் கொண்டார்.
உடனே காஞ்சி மாமுனிவர் அந்தக் கடிதங்களைக் கொடுக்கச் சொல்லி உத்தரவிட்டார்கள்.
மெல்ல அவற்றை எடுத்து பிரித்து வைத்துக்கொண்டு கம்பீரமாகப் படிக்கலானார் அந்தப் பிராம்மணர்.
அந்த ஸ்லோகங்களைக் கேட்கக் கேட்க பெரியவாள் முகத்திலே பூரிப்பு மலர்ந்தது. கேட்கக் கேட்க பிரம்மானந்தமாக அதனைப் பெரியவாள் அனுபவித்தார்,
அந்த ஸ்லோகங்களை எழுதிய அன்பருக்கு புடவை வேஷ்டிகளை அனுப்ப உத்தரவிட்டார். திருமணத்திற்கு, நான்கு வேதங்களும் அறிந்த வேத விற்பன்னர்களை அனுப்பிவைக்கவும் ஆணைகள் பிறப்பித்தார்.
அந்த ஸ்லோகங்களைப் படித்து முடிக்கவும் மாண்புமிகு மத்திய அமைச்சர் திரு சிதம்பரம் அவர்களின் P.A. அவர்கள் வரவும் சரியாயிருந்தது. ஸ்லோகங்களைப் படித்த அந்த அன்பர் மெல்ல நகர்ந்து ஓரமாக வந்துவிட்டார்.
உடனே அமைச்சரின் P.A. அவர்கள் பெரியவாளுக்கு நமஸ்காரம் செய்தார்.
பெரியவாள் புன்சிரிப்புடன் ஆசி செய்துவிட்டு, “சிதம்பரம் எந்த டிபார்ட்மெண்ட் பார்க்கறார் ?” என்று கேட்டார்.
P.A. அவர்கள் பதில் கூறுவதற்குள், “முன்னாலே வெங்கடசுப்பையா பாத்துண்டிருந்தாரே அந்த டிபார்ட்மெண்ட்தானே ?” என்றாரே பார்க்கலாம் ! சுமார் அரை மணி நேரம் மிகவும் அன்புடன் சம்பாஷித்த பெரியவாள் துப்பட்டா ஒன்றைக் கொண்டு வருமாறு உத்தரவிட்டார். அடுத்த நிமிடம் அழகான சால்வை வந்து சேர்ந்தது.
“பெரியவா கூட மினிஸ்டர் P.A. வந்தவுடன் துப்பட்டா கொண்டுவரச் சொல்லிவிட்டாரே ?” என்று ஒரு கணம் நினைத்தேன்.
மறுகணம் பளீரென்று எனக்கு ஒரு சாட்டை அடி விழுந்தது.
ஆம்! அந்த துப்பட்டாவை எடுத்துக் கொண்டே, “எங்கே அந்த ஸ்லோகம் படிச்சவர்?” என்று ஸ்வாமிகள் கேட்டாரே பார்க்கலாம்!
தூரத்திலிருந்த அன்பர் பெரியவாள் அருகே ஓடி வந்தார்.
“இந்த துப்பட்டாவை அவருக்குப் போர்த்து!” என்று எடுத்துத் தந்ததும் அந்த அன்பர் துடித்துப் போய்விட்டார்.
“பெரியவா தரிசனத்துக்குத்தான் நான் வந்தேன். இப்படிப் பெரியவா பண்ணுவான்னு நன் நினைக்கல்லே! எனக்குப் போய்…… “ என்று அந்த அன்பர் பேசமுடியாமல் திணறினார்.
“உனக்கா போர்த்தறேன்? உன்னோட வித்வத்துக்குத்தானே போத்தறேன்! தைரியமா நான் படிக்கறேன்னு சொல்லி படிச்சுக் காண்பிச்சயே ! அதுக்குத்தான் இந்த மரியாதை !” என்றார் பெரியவர்.
ஒரு கணத்தில் பெரியவாளைப் பற்றித் தப்பாக நினைத்த நான் மனம் வருந்தி கன்னங்களில் போட்டுக் கொண்டேன். எல்லோரையும் போல் அவரையும் நினைக்க இந்தக் குட்டிச்சுவரான மனத்திற்கு எப்படித்தான் முடிந்ததோ? “மன்னிக்கணும் ! மன்னிக்கணும்!” என்று பரமாச்சார்யாளின் பாதங்களில் மானசீகமாக விழுந்து அரற்றிக் கொண்டிருந்தேன்.
அரைமணி நேரத்துக்கும் மேலாக வேறு திசையில் பேச்சு திரும்பிவிட்ட போதிலும் அந்த ஸ்லோகம் படித்த அன்பரை அல்லவா அந்த தெய்வத்தின் நெஞ்சம் எண்ணிக்கொண்டிருந்தது !
ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள் மனம் ‘சரஸ்வதி’ கடாட்சம் பெற்ற அந்த அன்பருக்கு மயங்கி அவரது வித்தைக்கு சால்வை போர்த்தியுள்ளது.
சரஸ்வதியே சரஸ்வதிக்கு சால்வை போர்த்திய அந்த அற்புத நிகழ்ச்சியை விவரிக்க வார்த்தைகளேது?
பெரியவாள் வாழும் காலத்திலே நாமும் வழ்கிறோம் என்பதுதான் எத்தனை பெரிய பாக்யம் !
அவரைப் பார்ப்பதற்கும் அவரது அருள் வாக்கைக் கேட்பதற்கும் என்ன தவம் செய்தோமோ?

Message For the Day…” Understand The Logical Basis of Advaita..”

A flower has many petals. These petals appear distinct from each other. But all petals have emerged from the same single stem. The stem is the seat of the Atma, from which the petals have emanated. But we view the flower as a single object. The flower is one, but the petals are many. Same analogy is applicable to the endless number of waves arising on the ocean. The waves are many and distinct. But they are of the same stuff as the ocean. From the waves arises the foam, which has the same properties as the waves and the ocean though different in form and name. All the three are based on the ocean. This is the logical basis forAdvaita (philosophy of non-dualism). The Atma is the basis for everything. Ignoring this truth people pursue the myriad ephemeral objects of the phenomenal world, but ultimately all come to a realisation of the Atmic Principle.

Message For the Day…” Where is There is No Attachment, There will Be No Fear …”
Desire and disappointments are the order of the day. Human life for most people seems to be full of fear. Various types of fears haunt wherever one is, whatever one does. How can one escape fear? Even the little objects of happiness which one seems to derive from life, is coupled with fear of losing them soon! Sin and merit, joy and sorrow, profit and loss, light and darkness are pairs of opposites that every being undergoes during their lives. Truly speaking, the absence of one (sorrow), indicates the presence of other (joy)! Saint Adi Shankara further clarified, “Where there is no attachment, there will be no fear!” How can one attain that state? By attaining proximity with the Divine! He further exhorted, “Banish fear by cultivating detachment (Vairagya) and journeying towards the Self. It is through Self-Realization that you can understand the true nature of fear and overcome it.
” பக்தர்கள் எல்லாம் நல்லா இருக்கணும் …”

ஒரு சமயம், மகாபெரியவர் காஞ்சிபுரம் அருகிலுள்ள தேனம்பாக்கத்தில் முகாமிட்டுஇருந்தார். பெரியவருக்கு நெருக்கமான தொண்டர்களான திருவட்டீஸ்வரன் பேட்டை வெங்கட்ராம அய்யர், பாணாம்பட்டு கண்ணன் ஆகியோர் அருகில் இருந்தனர்.
அன்று மகாபெரியவரின் ஜெயந்தி (பிறந்த நாள்). பெரியவர் அன்று காலையில், அனுஷ்டானம், ஸ்நானம் முடித்துக் கொண்டு பக்தர்களுக்கு தரிசனம் அளிக்க வெளியே வந்தார். ஏராளமான கூட்டம் இருந்தது.
எத்தனையோ ஊர்களில் இருந்து பெரியவருக்காக ஹோமம் செய்து கொண்டு வரப்பட்ட பிரசாதங்கள், ஹோம பஸ்மா, கோயில் தண்டு மாலைகள், வில்வம், துளசி மாலைகள், பரிவட்டங்கள், திருப்பதி லட்டு,
திருநீறு, குங்குமம் என அனைத்தையும் ஏந்தி வந்தனர் பக்தர்கள்.
வந்தவர்கள் எல்லாரது நோக்கமும் பெரியவர் ஆரோக்கியமாக தீர்க்காயுளுடன் இருக்க வேண்டும் என்ற ரீதியிலேயே இருந்தது. அதற்காக, பெரியவர் பெயரில் அவரவர் இஷ்ட தெய்வக் கோயில்களில் அர்ச்சனை செய்து பிரசாதம் கொண்டு வந்திருந்தனர். அதை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளுமாறு எல்லாரும் வேண்டிக் கொண்டிருந்தனர்.
பெரியவர் கூட்டத்தினரை நோக்கி மனம் நெகிழும்படியான பதில் சொன்னார்.
“”நீங்க எல்லாரும் நான் (குரு) நல்லா இருக்கணும்னு ஹோமம், அர்ச்சனை செஞ்சு பிரசாதம் கொண்டு வந்திருக்கீங்க! சரி…ஆனா, எனக்கு என்ன ஆசை தெரியுமா! காஞ்சி மடத்துக்கு வருகிற பக்தர்கள் எல்லாரும் சவுக்கியமா இருக்கணுமேனு ஆசை! ஹோமப்பிரசாதம் எல்லாம் தெய்வ அனுக்கிரகத்தைக் கொடுக்கும் இல்லையா! பக்தர்கள் பல கவலைகளோடு என்னிடம் வருகிறார்கள். சுவாமி பிரசாதங்களை அவர்கள் பெற்றுக்கொண்டு சவுக்கியம் அடையட்டுமேனு நான் நெனக்கிறேன்!” என்று சொல்லியபடியே, அந்த பிரசாதங்களைத் தொட்டார். அதன்பின், பெரியவரின் விருப்பப்படி அவை பக்தர்களுக்கே விநியோகம் செய்யப்பட்டன.
பெரியவர் ஜெயந்தியன்று பிரசாதம் பெற்ற பக்தர்கள் எல்லாரும், தங்கள் நோய்கள், கஷ்டங்கள் எல்லாமே தீர்ந்து விட்டதாக மகிழ்ந்தார்கள்.
“பக்தர்களுக்காக நான் இருக்கிறேன்’ என்று அருள்பாலித்த மகாபெரியவரை தினமும் மனதில் நினைத்து வணங்குவோருக்கு எந்தக்குறையும் வராது.

The hard working farmer has no fear of starvation. The one who chants the Lord’s Name has no fear of worldly worries. The person of a few words will be free from enmity. Through excessive talk, people fall prey to quarrels. Everyone must cultivate moderation in speech. Restraint in speech is conducive to friendly feelings. The one who is careful in behavior, doing all actions after due deliberation, will have no fear of danger. True education consists in knowing how to lead a peaceful life. To embark on or have a successful career, you must aspire for world peace. For you are part of the world and your well-being is intimately tied to that of the world. Give up all narrow feelings and acquire unity and fellowship.
