Message for the Day…” Prayers should be Offered again and again to Receive HIS Showers of Grace …”

When people need any convenience or assistance, they approach those in authority and convey their request. So also, in the internal state, when there is no possibility of achieving and acquiring devotion, charity, peace, and truth by normal people, the great and noble, who desire to achieve these, pray to the Lord within themselves. Listening to these prayers, He Himself comes into the world and showers His grace on all people. As an example, Lord Rama and Lord Krishna incarnated answering the prayers of the sages. Similarly Saint Ramakrishna prayed to Goddess Kali to incarnate and establish righteousness(dharma) that would uproot injustice and selfishness. Thus prayers should be offered again and again for the realisation of this noble purpose. No one should become desperate and give up prayers if they don’t result immediately in the advent of the Lord. Since the ancient times, remember that the Lord has always responded to holy and sincere prayers with His Advent.

Message for the Day….” Offer unto the God , the Flower of Your Heart {Hrudhya Pushpam}…

Lord Krishna incarnated to destroy evil in a handful of individuals. But now, the evil qualities are not identifiable in a small group of people. They are widespread everywhere. The scorpion has poison only in its tail; the cobra only in its fangs; but people have poison all over them! They have it in their eyes, their tongues, their mind, their intelligence, their gait, their brain – just about everywhere. You may ask, “Oh! When will this poison be counteracted and destroyed?” When the Lord enters your heart, that is the very objective He will accomplish. Offer unto the Lord, the ‘flower of your heart’ (Hrudaya Pushpam),after cleansing it thoroughly of the dust and pests (desire, anger, envy, doubt, etc.) that infest it. Without effort, can there be victory in any field? Can you become a high ranking official without the appropriate qualifications of scholarship, talent, experience and wisdom? So persevere and succeed!

Message For the Day….” Remember , it is the “way of living” . the path of virtue , that keeps you in the MEMORY of People long after death …”

Lord Krishna declares in the Bhagavad Gita, “There is nothing in the three worlds that I am obliged to do, nothing unaccomplished that I have to accomplish, but I am still engaged in activity (karma)”. Lord Krishna says this, for, if God is inactive, the Cosmos will come to a grinding halt. You too, must take the lead and follow it. Translate your strength into activity along the path of duty. The young follow the lead of elders. So elders must consistently hold on to ideals and work towards their realization so that the entire universe can attain prosperity and peace. Mother Earth teaches her children this lesson of service and sacrifice. Good conduct must be the main key to the life of every being. Remember, it is the ‘way of living,’ the path of virtue, that keeps you in the memory of people long after death.

Message For the Day…” Regard anything That Happens as a Gift from God …”

The devotee’s feelings determine their concept of God. When a devotee prays, “Oh Lord! I am suffering intensely. Can’t you see the troubles I am going through?” The Lord appears to him only as a pair of eyes. Today, most people meditate and during meditation, they appear like yogis. After the meditation is over, they return to their daily activities, immersing themselves in mundane pleasures. This is not the way of life the Lord preached. Lord Krishna declared: Sathatham Yoginah (Be yogis at all times). Think of the Divine at all times, in all situations, in whatever you see, do, say or experience. To pray to God when you are comfortable and to blame God when you are in trouble reflects a selfish and narrow outlook. What is bound to happen cannot be prevented. Regard anything that happens as a gift from God. It is only when you develop such faith and love for God that true spirituality can grow.

HolikaDahan and The Stories Related to the Festival….” Victory of Good Over Evil “

The festival of Holi is associated with different mythological and spiritual stories. Out of the many tales, the most prominent is that of a devotee – Prahlad, his father Hiranyakashyap and Hiranyakashyap’s sister Holika. This story behind holika dahan is a testament to the power of bhakti (devotion).

King Hiranyakashyap worshiped Lord Brahma for years and, with penance he was able to impress him. Lord Brahma granted wishes of the king which were:

– King Hiranyakashyap cannot be killed by human being or an animal

– He will not die either in his home or outside the home

– He will not die in the day or at night

– He will not die either by astra or shastra (weapons)

– King Hiranyakashyap will not die either on land or in the sea or in the air

With such blessings the king had become invincible and wanted people in his kingdom to preach him as God. Everyone did except King Hiranyakashyap’s son Prahlad who preached Lord Vishnu. Offended by his son’s disobedience, King Hiranyakashyap decided to kill Prahlad and made several attempts too. All his attempts went in vain as Prahlad was saved by Lord Vishnu each time. King Hiranyakashyap then asked Holika, his sister, to kill Prahlad. Holika had a gift – she could not be harmed or burned by fire. Holika’s blessing was in the form of a shawl, which would protect her. As asked by her brother, Holika get herself seated in the flames with Prahlad on her lap to kill him. All the while Prahlad kept chanting Lord Vishnu’s name. As soon as the fire soared, the blessed shawl of Holika fluttered away to cover Prahlad. In this way, Prahlad lived and Holika burnt and died. This is how Holi gets its name from Holika and is celebrated as a festival that marks the victory and power of bhakti (devotion).

In some parts of the country, story of Pootana or Putana is also prevalent as the reason to celebrate Holi. The demon king Kansa (uncle of Krishna) feared getting killed one day by Lord Krishna. Kansa sent Putana to kill Krishna through her poisonous breast milk. She came to baby Krishna and started feeding of her poisonous milk. Lord Krishna, knowing her demonic intentions, sucked out Putana’s life-force while she fed him her milk and she turned into her original giant and scary form. Lord Krishna sucked all her blood until Putana was killed. It is said that it was the night of Holi when Putana was killed and Lord Krishna proved his greatness. Some who view the origin of festivals from seasonal cycles believe that Putana represents winter and her death the cessation and end of winter.

We can follow whichever story behind celebrating Holi but all the stories have the same crux – Victory of good over evil. In 2015, Holika Dahan is being celebrated on 5th March.

Message For the Day…” A Story to Explain the Limitless Grace of God …”

Everyone appreciated the wonderful way in which Parikshith sought the lap of the Lord and praised the steady faith he already attained. Yudhishtira was puzzled at the child’s act and requested Vyasa, the great sage, to explain. Vyasa said, “Yudhishtira! When this child was in the womb, the deadly arrow that Aswathama aimed at it to destroy it was about to hit its target. Lord Krishna entered the foetal home and saved it from destruction. This child has been eager to know who had saved him from within the womb. He started examining everyone to find out whether anyone had the same effulgence that he saw while a foetus in the womb. Today, when he saw that divine form with all its splendour, he went straight towards Him and prayed to be seated on His lap. The Lord too, immediately yielded to his prayer.” Yudhishtira then shed tears of joy and thankfulness to the limitless grace of the Lord.

Message For the Day….” Seek The God Himself and No olther … “

The little infant (Parikshit) was placed on a gold plate for his naming ceremony. The child immediately started moving, as if searching for someone desperately and soon made a beeline towards Lord Krishna. He grasped Krishna’s feet and pleaded, by his looks, to be taken by Him and fondled! The Lord responded to the yearning, laughed, graciously bent and lifted the child onto His lap. The prince stared at the Lord’s face without even a blink; he didn’t turn his head this way or that, or pull at anything with his hands or make any sound. Everyone, including Lord Krishna were amazed at this behavior, it was so unlike any child. Then, the Lord tried to distract the attention of the child from Himself by placing before him a variety of toys, and Himself hiding from view, expecting the child to forget Him. But the child’s attention was not drawn towards any play or objects. He sought the Lord Himself and no other.

Message For the Day…” Bhajan , Bhojan, and Pujan are Offering to the Divine …”

“Maam anusmara – With Me in memory ever,” said Lord Krishna! In your daily life, do not distinguish one task as bhajan, another as bhojan (eating), and the third as pujan (worship of God) – all acts are offering to the Divine. The food you partake is given by Him and digested by Him, so that it yields strength to do His work. Each moment is worthwhile, for He gives it, He uses it, He fills it, He fashions it, and He fulfils it. When He is fully suffused in your every breath, you can achieve the sovereign task of merging in Him. You have that might within you; The Divine cannot be gained by the weak. The remembrance can become permanently established only when you are free from the shackles of spite and envy. Be An-asuya – without the trace of pride or envy, malice or hate, egoism or conceit. The Lord permanently resides in the heart kept assiduously clean.

Message For the Day…” Where There is Purity, There is Divinity…”

Lord Krishna in the Gita says, “You are all part of My Divinity. Hence you should follow Me. My love is divine and sacred. So is yours!” (Mamaivamso jeevaloke jeevabhutah sanatanah). If you truly follow this principle, you will automatically achieve purity. Where there is purity, there is Divinity. Since time immemorial, each and every one of you are part of Me; you are My very own. Never forget this truth. If you develop faith in this truth, it will amount to reading all the scriptures. Every human being followsDharma (Righteousness). Where did this Dharma come from? It has come from feeling (bhava), which in turn emanated from faith(vishwas). Where faith is, there Dharma is! That faith is Truth.Dharma is verily the embodiment of Divinity. Truth is God; Faith is God; Love is God; Live in Love. Only when you cultivate Truth, Faith and Love, you can achieve anything.

Message For the Day…” Selfishness Will End in Ruin …”

Duryodhana symbolises one who has wicked thoughts. His minister was Dushasana. Dushasana represents one who promulgates bad laws. The combination of these two led to the growth of greed. On account of unrestricted growth of greed (lobha), Kauravas were totally destroyed. On another occasion Lord Krishna said, Arjuna means a person whose heart is pure and immaculate. Lord Krishna clarified to Arjuna in the battlefield, “Destiny is all powerful. Justice always wins. Selfishness will end in ruin. This is the law of the Universe (Yuga Dharma). He further explained to Arjuna that greed of Kauravas will cause them ruin.” Kauravas were not prepared to give their rightful share to the Pandavas. They wanted to keep everything to themselves, including what belongs to others. This selfishness is called greed
