ஒரு பாதிரியார் பெரியவாளை தர்சனம் பண்ண வந்தார். ஒரு பெரிய தட்டு நிறைய பழங்களை சமர்ப்பித்து விட்டு, தங்கள் மத வழக்கப்படி தலை, மார்பு, தோள்கள் இவற்றை விரல்களால் தொட்டு, ஒரு கிராஸ் போட்டுவிட்டு தன் வணக்கத்தை தெரிவித்துக் கொண்டார். அவர் நிறைய படித்தவர்; அபரிமிதமான பேச்சாற்றலால், மதக் கொள்கைகளை அடுக்கிக் கொண்டே போனார். தங்கள் மதத்தைத் தவிர வேறு எந்த மதத்திலும் இப்பேர்ப்பட்ட அருமையான கொள்கைகள் இல்லவேயில்லை என்று நிலை நாட்ட விரும்பிய வேகம், வெறி அவர் பேச்சில் தொனித்தது……யாரிடம்?

“அன்புதான் எங்க கொள்கையில ரொம்ப முக்கியமானது; எல்லோரிடமும் வேற்றுமை பாராட்டாமல், அன்பு செலுத்தியவர் எங்கள் பிதா..” மேற்கொண்டு அவரை பேசவிடாமல் அவருடைய மனசாக்ஷியே தடுத்தது போல், பேச்சை நிறுத்திக் கொண்டார். காரணம், எங்கள் பிதா…என்று அவர் சொல்லி முடித்ததும் பெரியவா லேஸாக புன்னகைத்ததும், பாதிரியாரின் பேச்சு நின்றது.

“ஹிந்து மதத்லேயும் அன்புக்கு ரொம்ப முக்யத்வம் உண்டு! “அன்பே சிவம்”…ங்கறது பெரியவால்லாம் சொன்ன வாக்கு! திருமூலர்ன்னு ஒரு
பெரியவர் திருமந்திரம்ன்னு ரொம்ப ஒசத்தியான புஸ்தகம் எழுதியிருக்கார். அதுல அன்பைப்பத்தி, மனித நேயத்தைப் பத்தி ரொம்ப அழுத்தமா சொல்லியிருக்கார்.

விஷ்ணு சஹஸ்ரநாமம்…ன்னு மஹாபாரதத்ல வருது. அதுல, “கரணம், காரணம், கர்த்தா, விகர்த்தா”ன்னு பகவானுக்கு பேர் சொல்லப்பட்டிருக்கு. நீங்களும் ஜீஸஸ்ஸை கர்த்தர்..ன்னு சொல்லறேள். உங்க மதத்துக்கு எத்தனையோ காலத்துக்கு முன்னாடியிலிருந்தே….நாங்க பகவானை “கர்த்தர்”ன்னு சொல்லிண்டிருக்கோம்!

ஒங்களோட மதப்ரசாரங்கள் எல்லாத்துலயும், எங்களோட மதம், இதிஹாஸ புராணங்கள்,கடவுள்கள் எல்லாத்தையும் நிந்தை பண்றேள்! ஆனா, நாங்க எந்த மதத்தையோ, மதத் தலைவர்களையோ, தெய்வத்தையோ நிந்தனையாவோ, கொறையாவோ பேசறதில்லை! ஏன்னா ஹிந்து மதம்தான் மிச்ச எல்லா மதங்களுக்கும் தாயார் மாதிரி ! ஒரு தாயார், தன்னோட கொழந்தை துஷ்டனா இருந்தாக் கூட திட்ட மாட்டா!…..

நீங்கள்ளாம் ஹிந்து சமயப் பண்டிதாளை மீட் பண்ணறதுக்கு விரும்பாம, எதுவுமே தெரியாத பாமர ஜனங்கள் கிட்டப் போய் வாசாலகமா [வாய் ஜாலமாக] பேசறேள் ! எங்களுக்கு அனுஷ்டானம் முக்யம் ; ஒங்களுக்கு ப்ரசாரம் முக்யம்; அதோட பாமர ஜனங்கள் ..ட்ட போனதுமே ஒங்களோட மதத் தத்துவத்தை சொல்றதில்லை; பால் பவுடர், ரொட்டி, துணிமணி…ன்னு குடுத்து ஆசை காட்டி இழுத்துக்கறேள்! மொதல்ல அவாளுக்கு காப்பு மாதிரி பணம்
குடுக்கறேள்… அப்றமா மதத்தைப் பத்தி பேசறேள்….”

பாதிரியார் சங்கடமாக நெளிந்தார்! உண்மையை அவரால் ஜீரணிக்க முடியவில்லை. ஆனாலும் பெரியவாளுடைய ஒவ்வொரு சொல்லும் அவரைக் கட்டிப் போட்டுவிட்டது!

“எங்கள் கர்த்தர்….தன் ரத்தத்தாலே பாவிகளின் பாவங்களைக் கழுவுகிறார்” கட்டக்கடைசியாக எதையோ சொல்ல வேண்டும் என்று சொன்னார்.

பெரியவா மறுபடியும் புன்னகைத்தார்….”கர்த்தர்…ரொம்ப கருணையானவர்…ங்கற ஸ்துதி ஞாயந்தான்! ஆனா மத்தவாளை நிந்திக்கக் கூடாதுங்கறதும் ஞாயந்தானே ?….”

பாதிரியார், “நிந்தனை பத்தி என்னை சிந்தனை செய்ய வெச்சிட்டீங்க!..”
என்று முக மலர்ச்சியோடு கூறவும், ஒரு பழத்தை ப்ரசாதமாக குடுத்தார் பெரியவா. அவருக்கும் திருக்கரத்தை உயர்த்தி ஆசி வழங்கினார்.

நம்முடைய மதத்தைப் பற்றி நாம் யாரிடமும் ப்ரசாரம் பண்ணி எதையும் ஸ்தாபிக்க அவச்யமேயில்லை! ப்ரசாரம் பண்ணுவதற்கு “இவ்வளவுதான் இதில் இருக்கிறது” என்ற full stop ப்பை நம்முடைய மத நூல்களுக்கு [இதிஹாஸ,புராணங்கள், சாஸ்த்ரங்கள் என்று நீண்டு கொண்டே போகும்] நம்மால் வைக்க முடியாது. சங்கரர், மத்வர், ராமானுஜர், ஆழ்வார்கள், நாயன்மார்கள் இன்னும் ஏகப்பட்ட பக்த சிரோன்மணிகள் கூட ப்ரசாரம் பண்ணாமல், சாஸ்த்ர சம்மதமான தங்கள் அனுஷ்டானத்தில் நமக்கெல்லாம் வாழ்ந்து காட்டியிருக்கிறார்கள்.

எனவே அவரவர் எந்தக் கடமையை செய்ய வேண்டுமோ, அதை ஒழுங்காக பண்ணிக் கொண்டிருந்தாலே, நம் மதத்துக்கு எந்த ஹானியும் வராது என்பதே மஹான்களின் வாக்கு!

Sakhubai, an ardent devotee of Lord Panduranga, went to saint Namadeva and submitted, “Master, I make so many cow dung cakes, but people are stealing them. I need to earn a livelihood by selling these, but very little is left for me to sell. What do I do?” Namadeva smilingly asked her, “How do you know that those stolen are your cow dung cakes?” Sakhubai promptly answered, “Master, I make them thinking and reciting Lord Panduranga’s name all the time; my feelings are reflected in them and they give amazing results!” She then asked Namadeva to break and listen to one cake. Everyone around Namadeva were greatly astonished to hear the inanimate cowdung cake reverberating with Panduranga’s name with the correct pitch, tune and rhythm. Mother Sakhubai said, “Not only in these cakes, but if we think of the Lord while performing every action, it will reflect and resound in the work we do!”

Dakshah is the quality of having firm determination to perform pure actions. The determination should be confined to actions that are pure, helpful to others and that sublimate you. At all circumstances, you must choose to act in a good manner and strictly refrain from any impure act. A person who can accomplish this is called Dakshah, and is very dear to the Lord. Udaseenah means the freedom from attachment. It means remaining serene and unruffled by fame or blame, peace or sorrow, loss or gain, pleasure or pain, not elated by prosperity or DEPRESSED by failure. You must never succumb to calumny, nor should you exult over fame. Fame and blame are like passing clouds; they must be treated the same. If you take them seriously, they will give rise to agitations in the mind, which may lead to demonic tendencies. Any devotee who possesses these sacred virtues is very dear to the Lord.

மலரட்டும் மனப்பூக்கள் !!!

திருப்பதி வெங்கடாஜலபதி கோவிலில், தர்ம தரிசன வரிசையில் பல மணி நேரமாக காத்திருப்போரில் சிலர், வி.ஐ.பி., ஒருவர் அதிகாரிகள் புடைசூழ மரியாதையுடன் அழைத்து செல்லப்பட்டு, வெங்கடாஜலபதி முன் அமர்ந்து, சுவாமி தரிசனம் செய்யும் காட்சியைப் பார்த்தால், மனதுக்குள் புழுங்கி, ‘ஏழுமலையானே… எங்களையும் இந்த நிலைக்கு உயர்த்த மாட்டாயா…’ என்று ஏக்கம் கொள்வர்.
ஆனால், ஏழுமலையான் மேல் உண்மையான பக்தி இருந்தால், அந்த ஏக்கம் தேவையில்லை; அவனே தேடி வந்து அருள்வான் என்பதை விளக்கும் கதை இது.

செப்., 20 – புரட்டாசி முதல் சனி !


பீமன் எனும் மண்பாண்டத் தொழிலாளி ஒருவர், புரட்டாசி சனி என்றில்லாமல், எல்லா சனிக்கிழமைகளும் பெருமாளை நினைத்து, விரதம் இருந்து வந்தார். அவர் ஒரு ஏழைத் தொழிலாளி என்பதால், நாள் முழுக்க வேலை செய்ய வேண்டிய கட்டாயம். இதனால், அவரால், திருப்பதிக்கு போக முடியவில்லை. அதனால், வெங்கடா ஜலபதியின் சிலையை மண்ணிலேயே வடித்து, தன் வீட்டில் வைத்து வழிபட்டு வந்தார். தினமும், மண்பாண்டங்கள் செய்து முடித்ததும், கையில் ஒட்டியிருக்கும் மண்ணை வழித்து, சிறு சிறு பூப்போல செய்து, அதை அந்த சிலைக்கு தூவுவார்.
இந்த சமயத்தில், மன்னன் தொண்டைமான், ஏழுமலையானுக்கு தங்கப்பூக்களை காணிக்கையாக வழங்கி, தினமும், அந்தப் பூக்களால் தான் பெருமாளை அர்ச்சனை செய்ய வேண்டும் என, உத்தரவிட்டான். அதே போன்று, அர்ச்சகர்களும் தங்கப் பூக்களால் அர்ச்சனையை செய்தனர். ஆனால், மறுநாள் வேங்கடவனின் பாதத்தில் கிடந்ததோ மண்ணால் செய்யப்பட்ட பூக்கள். இது தினமும் தொடர்ந்ததால், இந்த விஷயத்தை அர்ச்சகர்கள், மன்னரிடம் தெரியப்படுத்தினர். இதைக் கேட்டதும் மன்னன் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டாலும், மனதில் குழப்பம் அடைந்தான்.
மன்னனின் கனவில் தோன்றிய ஏழுமலையான், ‘மன்னா… மனம் குழம்பாதே… என் பக்தன் பீமன் என்பவன் மண் பூக்களால் என்னை பக்தியுடன் அர்ச்சிக்கும் பூக்களை நான் ஏற்றுக் கொண்டதற்கு அடையாளமாகத் தான் அப்பூக்கள் அங்கே தென்படுகின்றன…’ என்றார்.
தன் எளிமையான பக்தியின் மூலம் கடவுளின் அருளைப் பெற்ற பீமனைத் தேடிச் சென்ற மன்னன், அவரிடம் நடந்ததைக் கூறினார். அவரோ, ‘அரசே… காலை முதல் மாலை வரை இந்த வண்டிச்சக்கரம் சுழன்றால் தான், என் வாழ்க்கைச் சக்கரம் சுழலும்; இதில், எனக்கு கோவிலுக்குப் போக நேரமேது! அதனால், மண்ணில் செய்த இந்த மண் பூக்களால், வேங்கடவனுக்கு அர்ச்சனை செய்வேன். சனிக்கிழமை விரதத்தை தவறாமல் அனுஷ்டிப்பேன். ஆனால், இதற்காக, என் பூக்கள் பெருமாளின் காலடியில் வந்து விழுகிறது என்றால், அவனது கருணையை என்னவென்பேன்…’ என்று நெகிழ்ந்தார்.
பீமனின் வார்த்தையைக் கேட்ட மன்னன், அன்றிலிருந்து, திருப்பதி கோவிலில், சனிக்கிழமை சிறப்பு பூஜைக்கு ஏற்பாடு செய்ததுடன், புரட்டாசி பிரம்மோற்சவமும் நடத்த ஆணையிட்டான். அன்று முதல், இன்று வரை திருப்பதி திருமலையில் இந்த விழாக்கள் முக்கியமானவையாக உள்ளன.
திருப்பதி செல்பவர்கள், கை நிறைய காசு கொண்டு செல்ல வேண்டுமென்பதில்லை. உள்ளம் நிறைய பக்தியை சுமந்து சென்றால் போதும்; வேங்கடவனின் அருளைப் பெறலாம்.

Many people speak about getting a vision of God. This is a naïve desire. They do not realize that God is present in everything they see. Scriptures declare that the one who fails to see the Divine manifest everywhere around them is a fool. Every being, every atom in this Universe is permeated by the Divine. So you must seek to realize your own inner Divinity and also recognize the Lord in all beings. You must manifest your loving nature, not become stone-hearted. For this, you must cultivate forbearance, love and compassion, and not resort to any sinful means. Your desires can never be fulfilled if you cause harm to others. If you are full of envy, pride and ostentation you cannot please God. The Divine will respond instantly only to unsullied love, and never to wealth, power or position.

Message For the Day…” Give No Room to Wrong thoughts and feelings in Your Mind…”

Shuchih’ means purity – it does not merely refer to the external cleanliness of the physical body. Your mind gets polluted by wrong thoughts and bad feelings. If you let your mind be continuously filled with evil thoughts, you will reap bad consequences. Hence give no room to wrong thoughts and feelings, and expel all negativity. Your body must be free from the taint of violence or harm (himsa). People commit many acts of violence and many sinful deeds with their hands; this is incorrect. The body has been given primarily for practicing righteousness (Dharma). Such a sacred GIFT must be used for rendering service to others. No one can refrain from action of some kind, even for a minute. Under no circumstances, should one engage in any impure act. You must achieve this purity with firm determination.

Message For the Day…” Chant the Name Of God From the Bottom of your Heart …”

Express your gratitude to God by chanting His Name. Chant from the depth of your heart; not as a mere musical performance. The demonic King, Ravana, constantly repeated the Shiva mantra, Namah Shivaaya without giving up any of his demonic qualities. The young boy Prahlada, repeated the mantra, Om Namo Narayana with all his heart and soul. This served to SAVE him from all the terrible ordeals his evil father, Hiranyakashipu, subjected him to. His father cast him from a precipice, had him trodden by several elephants, got him bitten by venomous reptiles and pushed him into the sea, yet Prahlada emerged unscathed from all these ordeals. Every instrument of torture turned into a blessing for young Prahlada! Hence chant the Name of the Lord from the bottom of your heart, with pleasing Him as the only goal. In this process, you must become one with the Divine. Never sing, pray or chant to earn the approbation of others or for show.

‘இருப்பவல் திருப்புகழ்’ என்று துவங்குகிறது திருத்தணித் திருப்புகழ்ப் பாடலொன்று. திருப்புகழ் கையிருப்பிலே உள்ள அவலைப் போன்றது. பண்டைய காலத்தில் பிரயாணத்தின் போது அவல் எடுத்துக் கொண்டு போவது வழக்கம். சுடுநீரில் ஊற வைத்து கழுவி உப்பு அல்லது சர்க்கரை இட்டுச் சாப்பிடலாம்; வெல்லப் பொடி கலந்து அல்லது எலுமிச்சை பிழிந்து சாப்பிடலாம். கி.வா.ஜ அவர்கள் கூறும் விளக்கவுரை மிக அருமையானது. “காலன் ஊருக்குச் செல்லும் நெடுவழிப் பிரயாணத்தில் உபயோகப்படும் அவல் அது; அருணகிரிநாதர் கந்தனுக்கு ஒரு வகை அவல் கொடுத்தார்; குசேலர் அளித்தது நெல் அவல், அருணகிரியார் அளித்தது சொல் அவல்!” [‘பெரும் பெயர் முருகன்’]

இரும்பு அவல் திருப்புகழ் என்று கூறுவாருண்டு. அது திருப்புகழின் பெரு வலிமையைக் காட்டுவது. அவல் போல உண்ணலாம்; இரும்பு போல மனோ திடம் பெறலாம். “அந்தகா வந்து பார் சற்று என் கைக்கெட்டவே” என யமனையும் அறைகூவி அழைக்கும் திறத்தையும் பெறலாம் என்பது திரு வ.சு.செங்கல்வராயப் பிள்ளை அவர்களது கருத்து.

இருப்பவல் திருப்புகழ் பற்றி ஆயிரத்து தொள்ளாயிரத்து அறுபதுகளில் அமிர்தவசனி ஆன்மீக இதழில், வெளியான ஒரு குறிப்பு சற்று விநோதமாக இருந்தது. அது கீழே தரப்படுகிறது.

“இருப்பவல் என்பது பாம்பு போல் கொடி வளைந்து படர்ந்திருக்கும். வேரொடு பிடுங்கினால் அடியில் கிழங்கு பெரிதாக இருக்கும். அக் கிழங்கை நிழலில் உணர்த்தி, சூரணம் செய்து ஒரு மண்டலம் வரை உட்கொண்டால் 300 வயது வரை பலம் பெற்றிருக்கலாம். என்றும் உண்பவர் அளவில்லாத காலம் வாழலாம். அது மட்டுமல்ல, அக்கிழங்கு ஈரமாக இருக்கும் போதே இடித்துச் சாறு எடுத்து அதனில் பாதரசத்தை இட்டு உறவாக்கி குகையில் வைத்து உருக்கிக் குளிகை செய்து கட்டிக் கொண்டால் நினைத்தது யாவும் நிறைவேறும். ஆயுள் அளிக்கும், நினைத்தவை அளிக்கும் அருமை உடைய இந்த இருப்பவலைப் போன்றது திருப்புகழ் என்று அருணகிரியார் தணிகைத் திருப்புகழில் அறிவிக்கும் அருமையை நினைக்கவே நெஞ்சம் நெகிழ்கிறது. இருப்பவலால் உடல் உரமெய்தி விடும்; திருப்புகழால் உயிர்க்கு உறுதி கிட்டும். இவ்விரண்டினுடனும் உறவு பூண்டால் என்றும் இறையருள் எய்தி இருக்கலாம் என்று அத்திருப்புகழுக்கு உரை காண்பது உயர்ந்த நிலை என்று ஊகிக்கிறது நமது மனம்.”

புறத்தினை யளித்தவர் …… தருசேயே

புயற்பொழில் வயற்பதி நயப்படு திருத்தணி
பொருப்பினில் விருப்புறு …… பெருமாளே.

Message For the Day…” What Price We Pay For the Light of the Sun ?…”

Every object in the world, whether it is a bird or a sheep or anything else, has a value of its own. Man alone has lost his value because of his involvement in mundane pursuits. People have no gratitude to the five elements which confer on them gratis innumerable precious benefits like light, heat, air and water. You have to pay a price for so many small amenities like electricity and running water. But what price does you pay for the light of the Sun who illumines the world? This light is a GIFT of the Divine. What price do you pay for a soft breeze or a heavy downpour of rain? God is providing freely such precious benefits to you. What gratitude do people show to God for all these? The only way to show one’s gratitude to the five elements is Smarana (to chant the Lord’s name incessantly).

Message For the Day…” How to Get Rid off Desire and Expectations …”

Is it possible for anyone in this world to be free of any desire and expectation? Not quite! Some things (material and sensual) may be attractive to some persons and some big aims (non-physical and transcendental) may interest others. Almost all desires fall into one of the above categories. Then how is it possible to get rid of both kinds of desires? This is possible! In the Gita, the Lord has declared that He is present in all righteous actions. Therefore those who perform righteous actions can develop anapeksha (desirelessness). This means that when a man performs all actions as OFFERINGS to the Lord, they become desireless actions. The Lord is the One who from within, makes one act, speak, listen, see, etc. If a person performs all actions with the conviction that the indwelling Lord is the real Doer, then the actions become desireless. Hence to begin with every sadhaka should regard one’s actions as OFFERINGS to the Divine.
