பிஞ்சு குழந்தைக்கு கிடைத்த பழுத்த சால்வை !!!!

வேத பாடசாலை குழந்தைகள் சிலரை தம்முடன் யாத்திரை அழைத்து சென்றபோது, நல்ல குளிர் காலம், மலை பிரதேசம் வேறு. ’emergency ‘ கொட்டகையில் இரவு கடுங்குளிராக இருக்கும் என்று எண்ணினார்.

பழுத்த கனபாடிகளுக்கே வழங்கப்படும் சால்வைகளை, அந்த பிஞ்சு வித்யார்த்திகளுக்கே வழங்க செய்தார். அதுகளுக்கு கொள்ளை சந்தோஷம். பாதாள கங்கை சென்றார்.

திடீரென்று அங்கே ஒரு பழுத்த கனபாடிகளே வந்துவிட்டார். தரிசனம் முடிந்தவுடன் புறப்பட வேண்டிய அவசரத்தில் இருந்தார். பெரியவா அவரை சம்மானிக்க சால்வை கொண்டுவர சொன்னார்.

மானேஜருக்கோ அந்த குறுகிய நேரத்திற்குள் முகாமுக்கு சால்வை எதுவும் கொண்டு வரவில்லை. சட்டென்று அன்று பாடசாலை பசங்களுக்கு புது சால்வை கொடுத்தது நினைவு வந்தது. எனவே, பெரியவாளிடம் எதுவும் பிரஸ்தாபிக்காமல், காதும் காதும் வைத்தாற்போல் ஒரு பையனிடமிருந்து சால்வையை திரும்ப பெற்றுவந்து, கனபாடிகளுக்கு கொடுத்துவிட்டார்.

இரவு ஏமாற்றத்துடனேயே கையை காலை முடக்கி கொண்டு, அந்த பையன் தூங்கிபோனான். காலையில் எழுந்திருக்கும்போது,அதி சொகுசும், கதகதப்பும் தன்னை ஆற அணைதிருப்பதால் அதிசயித்தான். அவன் இழந்ததைவிட உயர் ரகமான சால்வை அவன் மீது போர்த்தபட்டிருந்ததே அந்த சுகத்துக்கு காரணம்.

“போர்வை வந்துதாடா?” மனேஜரின் குசலப்ரச்னம் அவனுக்கு உண்மையை புரியவைத்தது.

கூர்ந்த திருஷ்டி கொண்ட பெரியவா, கனபாடிகளுக்கு கொடுத்த சால்வை, பாடசாலை சிறுவனுடையது என்று கண்டுபிடித்து விட்டார். அதற்குபின் மாலை அனுஷ்டானம், இரவு பூஜை, எல்லாம் முடிந்ததும், மனேஜரை கூப்பிட்டு விசாரித்தார்.

அவர் செய்தது தனக்கு திருப்தி இல்லை என்றும், தன் சகாக்களுக்கு கிடைத்தது தனக்கு தங்கவில்லையே என்று எப்படி அந்த குழந்தை வருந்தும் என்று விளக்கினார். விட்டால், எங்கே தன்னுடைய சால்வையையே கொடுத்துவிடுவாரோ என்று மனேஜருக்கு கவலை வந்துவிட்டது.

எனவே தாம் முந்திக்கொண்டு “எனக்கு போர்த்திகொள்ள நல்ல கம்பிளி போர்வை இருக்கு. அதையே பையனுக்கு கொடுத்துடறேன்” என்றார்.

“தூங்கிண்டு இருந்தா எழுப்பாதே! நைஸா மேலே போத்திட்டு நீயும் போய் விஸ்ராந்தி பண்ணிக்கோ”

“நைஸ்” இதயத்தால், அதி நைஸ் போர்வை பாலனுக்கு கிடைத்து.

The Lord – Ever Alert for His devotee
How Baba appeared as an old man to save Dr. Padmanabhan

Dr. R S Padmanabhan, a genial and highly renowned dentist practising in Bangalore, has been a devotee of Baba since 1942. His wife, Mrs. Kamala Padmanabhan and he are active members of Sri Sathya Sai Seva organisations. In his long association with Swami, the doctor has had wonderful experiences. Here is an instance where Baba saved them from a disaster as narrated to Smt. Shakuntala Balu in her book, “Living Divinity”:

Once, the doctor and his wife had gone to Puttaparthi and they were anxious to return to Bangalore the same night. That was during the monsoon season and Bhagawan had asked them not to travel at night but wait util daylight.

The doctor was restless thinking of the considerable amount of work waiting for him in Bangalore and, moreover, it did not seem like it would rain heavily. So they set off. Twenty miles later, the rain came down, lashing past the windows and drumming on the car. Visibility became very poor and turning back was impossible.

Dr. Padmanabhan kept the car crawling on – it was already dark and the road was empty – he felt it was better to plough on rather than stand still in the streaming rain and the darkness. He was also afraid, of the car engine stalling. The car bumped along, very slowly when, suddenly, there was a flash of light.

An old man was waving a hurricane lamp. Dr. Padmanabhan stopped. The old man told them that they were headed straight into a strong current of water that was flowing after a small bridge upstream had burst. The old man had halted the car, just in time: a few more yards and the car with its occupants would have been swept away.

“You are lucky”, said the old man who advised them to stop for the night as the bridge could only be repaired in the morning. Then he went away.

Dr. Padmanabhan drove back to his cousin’s house for the night and left again for Bangalore the next morning.

A month later, while Sri Sathya Sai Baba was in Bangalore, He castigated Dr. Padmanabhan for not heeding His words and starting out on the journey at night.

“If I had not been on the look out that night: what would have happened to you?” He asked, sternly.

The doctor, realising that it was Bhagawan who had rescued him that dark night, apologized to Him for having disregarded His words and expressed his gratitude for His grace.”

ராமாயணக் கதை முழுதும் ‘அ’ என்று ஆரம்பிக்கும் வார்த்தைகளால்
வடிவமைக்கப் பட்டுள்ளது.

அனந்தனே அசுரர்களை அழித்து,
அன்பர்களுக்கு அருள அயோத்தி
அரசனாக அவதரித்தான்.

அப்போது அரிக்கு அரணாக அரசனின்
அம்சமாக அனுமனும் அவதரித்ததாக
அறிகிறோம்.அன்று அஞ்சனை அவனிக்கு
அளித்த அன்பளிப்பு அல்லவா அனுமன் ?

அவனே அறிவழகன்,அன்பழகன்,அன்பர்களை
அரவ-ணைத்து அருளும் அருட்செல்வன்!

அயோத்தி அடலேறு, அம்மிதிலை அரசவையில்
அரசனின் அரியவில்லை அடக்கி, அன்பும்
அடக்கமும் அங்கங்களாக அமைந்த அழகியை
அடைந்தான்.

அரியணையில் அமரும் அருகதை அண்ணனாகிய
அனந்தராமனுக்கே! அப்படியிருக்க அந்தோ !
அக்கைகேயி அசூயையால் அயோத்தி அரசனுக்கும்
அடங்காமல் அநியாயமாக அவனை அரண்யத்துக்கு
அனுப்பினாள்.

அங்கேயும் அபாயம்!அரக்கர்களின் அரசன் ,
அன்னையின் அழகால் அறிவிழந்து அபலையை
அபகரித்தான்

அத்தசமுகனின் அக்கிரமங்களுக்கு, அட்டூழியங்களுக்கு
அளவேயில்லை. அயோத்தி அண்ணல், அன்னை
அங்கிருந்து அகன்றதால் அடைந்த அவதிக்கும்
அளவில்லை.

அத்தருணத்தில் அனுமனும், அனைவரும் அரியை
அடிபணிந்து, அவனையே அடைக்கலமாக அடைந்தனர்.

அந்த அடியார்களில் அருகதையுள்ள அன்பனை
அரசனாக அரியணையில் அமர்த்தினர்.

அடுத்து அன்னைக்காக அவ்வானரர் அனைவரும்
அவனியில் அங்குமிங்கும் அலைந்தனர், அலசினர்.
அனுமன், அலைகடலை அலட்சியமாக அடியெடுத்து
அளந்து அக்கரையை அடைந்தான்.

அசோகமரத்தின் அடியில், அரக்கிகள் அயர்ந்திருக்க
அன்னையை அடிபணிந்து அண்ணலின்
அடையாளமாகிய அக்கணையாழியை அவளிடம்
அளித்தான்

அன்னை அனுபவித்த அளவற்ற அவதிகள்
அநேகமாக அணைந்தன. அன்னையின் அன்பையும்
அருளாசியையும் அக்கணமே அடைந்தான் அனுமன்.

அடுத்து, அரக்கர்களை அலறடித்து , அவர்களின்
அரண்களை, அகந்தைகளை அடியோடு அக்கினியால்
அழித்த அனுமனின் அட்டகாசம், அசாத்தியமான
அதிசாகசம்.

அனந்தராமன் அலைகடலின் அதிபதியை
அடக்கி, அதிசயமான அணையை
அமைத்து, அக்கரையை அடைந்தான்.

அரக்கன் அத்தசமுகனை அமரில் அயனின்
அஸ்திரத்தால் அழித்தான்.

அக்கினியில் அயராமல் அர்ப்பணித்த அன்னை
அவள் அதி அற்புதமாய் அண்ணலை அடைந்தாள்.

அன்னையுடன் அயோத்தியை அடைந்து
அரியணையில் அமர்ந்து அருளினான்

அண்ணல், அனந்த ராமனின் அவதார
அருங்கதை அகரத்திலேயே அடுக்கடுக்காக
அமைந்ததும் அனுமனின் அருளாலே.

How Vibhuti allowed Sunil Gavaskar to play in Australia.

Shammi Paranjape, a close relative of Sunil Gavaskar (sister-in-law), shares this amazing episode that happened miles away down under in Australia:

“One of the very first experiences Sunil Gavaskar had was during the Indian tour of Australia in 1977, when Bishen Singh Bedi was captain of the Indian cricket team.

During the three-day match against Victoria, Sunil slipped on the ground while fielding and tore a muscle in his thigh. It turned out to be a severe injury. In those days, the Indian team did not have a physiotherapist traveling with them, so Sunil’s injury was shown to the home team’s physiotherapist.

After he was examined, Sunil was informed that it was a severely torn muscle and he would be out of the game for the next six weeks. This was a big blow as the next Test match was starting within a week’s time.

Sunil was in excruciating pain and unable to stand or put any pressure on the right leg. He phoned Pammi (his wife) in India and informed her about this development. Pammi immediately told him, ‘Apply Baba’s Vibhuti’.

Sunil said that he had none with him. ‘I’ll send you some right away. Apply it in the affected area, I’m sure it will work’, she replied.

The prospect of Sunil being fit enough to play for the next Test, which was four days away, seemed a total impossibility, so he was not picked for that particular match in the Test squad. In the meanwhile, Sushil Doshi, one of the Hindi commentators of All India Radio happened to be leaving for Australia.

Pammi arranged to send Baba’s Vibhuti through him. Sushil Doshi arrived two days prior to the Test match in Brisbane and handed over the Vibhuti packet to Sunil. Sunil, who was still hobbling around with that painful leg immediately applied almost half of the Vibhuti packet on the affected area hoping for a miracle.”

For what happened next, let Sunil Gavaskar himself relate:

“After I started applying Vibhuti, there was marked improvement and on the eve of the Test Match, I requested the team management not to rule me out but to have a fitness test on the morning of the Test Match. From barely being able to put weight on my leg, I was able to walk comfortably in just two days. But there was a stiff soreness that was worrying.

On the morning of the match, I applied Vibhuti to the leg and went to the ground. That was going to be my first attempt to try and run after a gap of eight days.

Even as I stepped on to the ground to give my fitness trial, I realised that the stiffness was almost gone. At the Queensland Cricket Ground in those days, you had to descend a few steps to the ground and it was these few steps which were painful previously, and I had to walk down gingerly. But on this day, I felt confident enough getting down these steps normally.

I took a light jog around the ground and with every stride I could feel the soreness going away. Though I did not do anything silly as a quick dash or sprint, I felt confident enough to play in the Test and so informed the management who accepted it and included me in the playing eleven. It was unbelievable.”

Incidentally, Sunil went on to score his eleventh Test century in that match!

Dalit boy completes chemical engineering and lands job, despite all odds

Four years ago, L. Ponnudurai was cleaning tables at a restaurant in Rajapalayam bus depot. In a month from now, he will begin work in a reputed cement company, as a chemical engineer.

The story of this gritty Dalit boy from Gopalapuram village near Rajapalayam in southern Tamil Nadu is an inspiring one. When he was barely five years old, his mother had committed suicide. Soon after this, his father remarried and sent him away to his grandmother’s place.

A relative noted his keenness to learn and put him in a government Adi Dravidar hostel. “My relatives were mill labourers and earned very little. To avoid burdening them, I used to stay in the hostel even during holidays,” said Ponnudurai.

He scored 96 per cent in Class X, and friends suggested a vocational course at a polytechnic institute. But, Ponnudurai said, he was keen on studying further.

Scholarships helped him finish Class XII with 93 per cent. He, however, faced a roadblock when he wanted to pursue his dream of going to college, as he did not have money to buy a form and apply for engineering counselling.

One day, his former physics teacher spotted him working at Vasantha Bhavan in Rajapalayam. “The next day, all my teachers landed up there. They had pooled in money to send me to Chennai and apply for engineering,” said Ponnudurai.

But this was not the end of Ponnudurai’s struggle. He tried to apply for an education loan all on his own, but bank officials wanted his father to be present. “He came only after my school teachers pleaded with him and promised to pay for his travel,” he added.

Ponnudurai came to Chennai with Rs. 2,000 and two pairs of clothes, but these were not his concerns. “Having studied in Tamil, learning in English was very difficult,” he said. Taunts over his complexion or his trousers almost broke his will. “I ran away thrice from campus, vowing never to return, but friends persuaded me to go back. In the hostel, I kept to myself,” he said.

But now, life is looking up. He recently cleared a recruitment interview with Ramco Cements and has got a decent offer. “I cannot ask for more.They let me answer questions in Tamil. I did not want to work in an IT company. I studied chemical engineering and I really like the subject,” he said, smiling. He has other plans too. “In villages, even bright students are unaware of opportunities, admission procedures, and scholarships. I want to convince students there to finish college,” he said.

All four of the world’s top pink diamonds have been found at Golconda…

One of the largest pink diamonds in the world has been sold at auction for more than $39.3m (£25m).

The Princie Diamond was purchased by an anonymous collector bidding by phone, Christie’s in New York said.

The 34.65 carat diamond’s origin can be traced back to the ancient diamond mines of Golconda in southern India.

It once belonged to the royal family of Hyderabad, rulers of one of the wealthiest provinces of Mughal India.

“The Princie Diamond carries a fabulous provenance, which brings together the legendary names of Golconda, [the] Nizam of Hyderabad, and the Maharani Sita Devi of Baroda,” said Christie’s jewellery department head Rahul Kadakia before the sale.

“The most beautiful stones discovered in Golconda were always reserved for kings and rulers as they represented the highest power, which was then magically transferred to the owner.

“It was a widely regarded belief that God’s gift to India became India’s gift to mankind and the Princie is undoubtedly one of the greatest gifts of Golconda.”

The diamond was once owned by the Nizam of Hyderabad, who was proclaimed the richest man in the world by Time magazine in 1937.

It had not seen in public since 1960 when Sotheby’s sold it as the “property of a gentleman”.

All four of the world’s top pink diamonds have been found at Golconda, Christie’s says. The area has the earliest known diamond mines in the world, producing the stones as early as 800BC.

In 2010 a diamond known as the Graff pink was sold in Geneva by Sotheby’s for $44m. At the time it was believed to be the most expensive gemstone bought at auction in history.

The two largest pink diamonds – the Darya-I Nur, weighing 175 to 195 carats, and the Nur ul-Ain, weighing about 60 carats – originally formed part of the Iranian Crown Jewels.

Experts say it has since been determined that they were cut from a single pink diamond weighing 242 carats.

Christie’s say that the Princie Diamond is believed to be the third largest pink diamond in the world and was found 300 years ago in the Golconda mines.

India celebrates 160th anniversary of its first passenger train here on Tuesday. It was on this day in 1853 that the first train ran between Bombay and Thane. It was drawn by three engines and covered a total distance of 34 km in 57 minutes.The three locomotives that pulled the first passenger train were named Sahib, Sindh, and Sultan.It was in 1853-54 that two new railway companies, Great Indian Peninsular Railway (GIPR) and East Indian Railway (EIR) were formed in the country, which pioneered the railway construction in the country.However, the experiment on railway line construction had begun long back in 1836 when the first rail line of the Indian sub-continent came up near Chintadripet Bridge, near Chennai.

The next phase of railway development in the country was witnessed in 1844 when the then the Governor-General of India Lord Hardinge allowed private entrepreneurs to set up rail system in the country.

Subsequently, the East India Company invited private investors to invest in the railway sector with adequate guarantee of an annual return.

Today, the Indian Railways is under complete government control but there have been demand of allowing private entrepreneurs in the sector.

” பணத்துக்கு நீ சொந்தக்காரன் இல்லை”…மகாபெரியவர் சொல்கிறார் !!!

ஆடிட்டர் ஒருவர் தர்மகாரியங்களில் ஆர்வமாக ஈடுபடுவார். ராமநவமி, கிருஷ்ணஜெயந்தி, சங்கர ஜெயந்தி என்று எந்த விழாவாக இருந்தாலும் அவர் முதல் ஆளாக முன்னிற்பார். ஏழை எளியவர்கள் மீது இரக்கம் கொண்டு உதவி செய்வார். அவரை ஊர்மக்கள் “பெரியவர்’ என்று தான் அழைப்பர். காஞ்சிப்பெரியவரிடத்தில் ஆடிட்டருக்கு நல்ல மதிப்பும் மரியாதையும் உண்டு.
ஆடிட்டரின் மூத்த மனைவி காலமானபின், பெரியவரின் ஆசியுடன் இரண்டாம் கல்யாணமும் செய்து கொண்டார். நான்கு பையன்களும் ஒரு பெண்ணுமாக ஐந்து பிள்ளைகள் இருந்தனர். பெரியவரைத் தரிசிக்க வரும்போதெல்லாம் , ஆடிட்டரைப் பார்த்து,””கர்ணன் மாதிரி எல்லாருக்கும் தானதர்மம் செய்றே!” என்று அன்போடு சொல்வார். காலம் ஓடியது. ஆடிட்டரின் பிள்ளைகளும் ஆடிட்டர்களாகவே பணியாற்றினர். பெண்ணும் ஒரு ஆடிட்டரையே திருமணம் செய்து கொண்டு செல்வச்செழிப்போடு வாழ்ந்து வந்தார். அவருக்குப் பிறந்த பையனும் ஆடிட்டர் தான்.
பெற்றோர் மறைவுக்குப்பின், பிள்ளைகள் எல்லாம் தானதர்மம் செய்வதில் ஆர்வம் காட்டவில்லை. ஆனாலும், அப்பா வகித்து வந்த தர்ம ஸ்தாபனப் பதவிகளில் மூத்தமகன் இருந்து வந்தார். தான தர்மம் என்று யாரும் கேட்டால், “”அது என்ன விலை? எந்த கடையில் கிடைக்கும்?” என்று கேட்கும் அளவுக்கு அவருடைய நிலை மோசமாக இருந்தது.

ஒருசமயம், அவருக்கு உடல்நிலை பாதிக்கப்பட்டது. பரிசோதித்ததில், “கேன்சர்’ என்று சொல்லிவிட்டார்கள். அவருக்கு பேர் சொல்ல ஒரு பிள்ளையும் இல்லை. அவரது மனதை கவலை வாட்டியது. குடும்பத்தின் மதிப்பிற்குரிய மகானான காஞ்சிப்பெரியவரைத் தரிசித்து வருவதென்று முடிவெடுத்து காஞ்சி மடத்திற்குப் புறப்பட்டார்.

“”சுவாமி! அடியேனின் பணிவான நமஸ்காரம்! எனக்கு ரத்தஅழுத்தம், சர்க்கரைநோய் ரொம்ப காலமாக இருக்கு! இப்போ கேன்சரும் வாட்டி வதைக்குது! மனசாலும், உடம்பாலும் நான் படும் அவஸ்தைகளை சொல்லி முடியாது. பெரியவா நீங்க தான் எனக்கு நல்வழிகாட்டி அனுகிரஹம் பண்ணணும்!” என்று சொல்லி அழுதார்.

“”உன்னை ரொம்ப நன்னாவே எனக்குத் தெரியும்! உங்கப்பா தானதர்மங்களை கர்ணன் மாதிரி செய்து வந்தார். அதனால் ஜனங்களெல்லாம் “பெரியவர்’ என்று அவரை மதிப்போடு கூப்பிடுவாங்க. விதியை யாராலும் மாத்தி எழுத முடியாது.
கிணத்திலே தண்ணீர் இருக்கு! ஆனால், அது தண்ணீரை தன்னுடையது என்று சொல்லி சொந்தம் கொண்டாடுவதில்லை! மரத்திலே பூக்கள் அடுக்கடுக்கா பூத்துக் குலுங்குது! ஆனால், பூவெல்லாம் எனக்குத்தான் என்று மரம் ஆர்ப்பரிப்பதில்லை! பசு பால் தருகிறது. பால் முழுவதும் தனக்கு தான் என்று பசு உரிமை பாராட்டுவதில்லை! உனக்கும் பட்டம் பதவிகள் இருக்கிறது. ஆனால், அந்த பதவியின் பயனாக நாலுபேருக்கு நீ நல்லது செய்யவில்லை. அதனால் தான் இந்த வேண்டாத கஷ்டமெல்லாம் உனக்கு வந்துவிட்டது. பணத்தோடு மனுஷனுக்கு குணமும் மிக அவசியம். உங்கிட்ட இருக்கும் பணத்துக்கு நீ டிரஸ்டி மட்டும் தான். சொந்தக்காரன் இல்லை என்பதை புரிந்து கொள்,” என்று அவரது மனதில் பதியும்படி எடுத்துச் சொன்னார்.

அந்த ஆடிட்டர், தான் நடத்தி வந்த வாழ்க்கை முறையை எண்ணி வருந்தியதோடு இனிமேல் தந்தையைப் போல தானதர்மங்களை செய்து வாழ்வது என்ற முடிவுடன் அங்கிருந்து கிளம்பினார்.

Many years ago, some Russian scholars had come to Chennai for a research on Hindu culture. Maha Swami was then camping at Mylapore and so they had darshan of Him and took many photographs of Him. They gave the photographs to the Russian Ancient Culture Academy in Russia also.

In 1987, Russia held a festival of Indian Culture in the Soviet Cultural Academy in Chennai. Dr.Padma Subramanyam (PS) gave a lecture on Bharatham, Kutchipidi, etc. Then, she was invited to Russia, where she met Prof.Ribakov, who was the chief of Russian Scientific Academy and Russian Ancient Culture Institute.

She was surprised to see a portrait of Maha Periava in his room. When asked, he said it was given by a friend who had visited Him in Chennai and he also wanted to meet Him and clarify a few doubts. Subsequently, he came to Chennai and Dr.PS accompanied him to Kanchipuram. But, Maha Swami was down with fever and the sishyas said they cannot meet Him. They were disappointed and didn’t know what to do.

Just then another sishya came to them and said that Periava asked them to come in. They went in, and Prof.Ribakov and Periava kept looking at each other for a while. Then, Dr.PS asked the Prof to clarify his doubts. But the Prof said that all his doubts have already been clarified.

Now comes the best part. Periava asked ‘Russians speak their language mixed with Sanskrit, but in Northern Russia do they speak the language without any mix of Sanskrit?’ Ribakov was surprised and said ‘yes’.

Then Periava said, ‘ you say Russia now. In the ancient times it was known as Rishivarsham. You know why? That is where Rishis like Yagnavalkiyar were running a Vedic Research Center. Then he spoke about the history of Russia at length. Then the Prof said that he wanted to become a Hindu.

Periava said ‘you already are’. But the Prof insisted on a Hindu name for him. Periava laughed and said ‘ he has grey beard like Rishis. So, from now on his name is Rishi’.

Well, that Rishi, runs a branch of Ramakrishna mutt in Moscow now!!!!!
