Message For the Day…” Remember that You are Who You are because Someone Helped You In the Past…”

A person with gratitude is meritorious and an ungrateful person is a sinner. Throughout your life, never forget even a small help that someone has rendered to you. Remember that you are who you are because someone helped you in the past. The wordParopakara (helping others) is a combination of three terms –Para + Upa + Kara. Para = Atma; Upa = Near and Kara = action. The objective of your meritorious deeds must be to progress nearer to God. The same Divine (Atma) is present in you and everyone. Do not perform noble deeds with the feeling that you are doing charity. Real Paropakara is to act with faith and do meritorious acts to serve the Divine in others, without entertaining feelings of division and difference. Understand clearly that physically harming or injuring others is not the only sin, but seeing others as different from the Divine within you is also sin. You may be different individuals in bodies, but the Lord within is One.

Does the Australian Rain Forest Hold the Key to Curing Cancer ?

Australian scientists believe a seed from a rainforest plant could hold the key to curing cancer.

Researchers say initial tests of the Blushwood tree has found is was effective 70 per cent of the time.

An experimental drug based on the seed was even found to be effective in treating pets with cancer.

The new drug, EBC-46, is a compound extracted from the fruit of the Blushwood tree which is found in north Queensland rainforests.

EBC-46 is a compound extracted from the fruit of the Blushwood.

The tree which is found in north Queensland rainforests.

Scientists at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute found a single injection of the drug EBC-46 led to rapid breakdown of tumours in a range of human tumour models.

The study, published in the journal PLOS One, was led by Dr Glen Boyle.

He says the findings suggest the drug could be effective in human patients.

‘We were able to achieve very strong results injecting EBC-46 directly into melanoma models, as well as cancers of the head, neck and colon,’ Dr Boyle said.

‘In most cases the single injection treatment caused the loss of viability of cancer cells within four hours, and ultimately destroyed the tumours.’

Dr Boyle says EBC-46 works in part by triggering a cellular response which effectively cuts off the blood supply to the tumour.

‘In more than 70 per cent of pre-clinical cases, the response and cure was long-term and enduring, with very little relapse over a period of 12 months.’

EBC-46 was discovered by the Queensland biotechnology company EcoBiotics.

The drug is being developed as a human and veterinary pharmaceutical through EcoBiotics’ subsidiary company QBiotics.

The experimental drug has been used by practising veterinarians to successfully destroy or shrink tumours in pets – including dogs, cats and horses.

QBiotics is currently undertaking formal veterinary clinical trials with EBC-46 in Australia and the USA.

A final regulatory approval is still required for a human Phase I clinical trial.

Dr Boyle says QIMR Berghofer is keen to pursue further research to determine if EBC-46 could be made more effective.

‘We must stress at this point that EBC-46 will only be trialled in the short-term for tumours which can be accessed by direct injection or topical application,’ Dr Boyle said.

‘There is no evidence to suggest EBC-46 would be effective against metastatic cancers.’

The pre-clinical trials at QIMR Berghofer have been largely funded by QBiotics with additional support from the NHMRC.

Message For the Day…” Selfishness Will End in Ruin …”

Duryodhana symbolises one who has wicked thoughts. His minister was Dushasana. Dushasana represents one who promulgates bad laws. The combination of these two led to the growth of greed. On account of unrestricted growth of greed (lobha), Kauravas were totally destroyed. On another occasion Lord Krishna said, Arjuna means a person whose heart is pure and immaculate. Lord Krishna clarified to Arjuna in the battlefield, “Destiny is all powerful. Justice always wins. Selfishness will end in ruin. This is the law of the Universe (Yuga Dharma). He further explained to Arjuna that greed of Kauravas will cause them ruin.” Kauravas were not prepared to give their rightful share to the Pandavas. They wanted to keep everything to themselves, including what belongs to others. This selfishness is called greed

Message For the Day…” Have a Mealof Good Acts of Services, Divine Thoughts…”

Just as every day you engage in exercise and consume tonics, calculating the intake of calories and vitamins, and paying meticulous attention to the nutritional value of the food, pay attention also to the intake of impressions into the mind – whether they debilitate or strengthen, whether they add to the power of resistance of the mind against the viruses of greed, envy, hatred, pride, malice, etc. Have a meal of good acts of service, divine thoughts, and drink the premarasa (juice of Love), so that they may be washed down, and digested well. Then you can be shining in mental health, happiness and wholesomeness.

Total eclipse of Blood Moon on night of October 7-8

TONIGHT FOR OCTOBER 7, 2014

There is a total eclipse of the full moon on October 8, 2014. This is the Northern Hemisphere’s Hunter’s Moon – the name for the full moon after the Harvest Moon. It’s also aBlood Moon, and this eclipse is the second in a series of four so-called Blood Moon eclipses. For North America and the Hawaiian Islands, the total lunar eclipse happens in the wee hoursbefore sunrise on October 8. For New Zealand, Australia and eastern Asia, the total eclipse is seen after sunset on October 8. A partial lunar eclipse can be seen before sunrise, October 8, from much of South America, or after sunset, October 8, from western Asia. Follow the links below to learn more about the 2014 Hunter’s Moon and the October 8 total lunar eclipse.

Day and night sides of Earth at instant of the October 2014 full moon (2014 October 8 at 10:51 Universal Time)

When is the October 2014 moon exactly full? Generally speaking, we in the Americas will say the moon stays full all through the night tonight, October 7-8.

But to astronomers, the moon turns full at a well-defined instant: when it’s most opposite the sun for the month.

That instant happens on October 8, 2014 at 10:51 UTC. At our U.S. time zones, that places the precise time of full moon on October 8 at 6:51 a.m. EDT, 5:51 a.m CDT, 4:51 a.m. MDT or 3:51 a.m. PDT. At that time, because there’s an eclipse happening, the moon will be totally submerged in the Earth’s dark umbral shadow.

Meanwhile, because of the difference in time zones, this same full moon happens at local midnight (October 7-8) for far-western Alaska and the Aleutian Islands. It’s sunrise (October 8) for northeastern North America and far-western South America, and it’s sunset (October 8) in Asia.

Watch the full-looking moon on the night of October 7-8 rise in the east as the sun goes down. Like any full moon, the Hunter’s Moon will shine all night long. It’ll soar highest in the sky around midnight and will set in the west around sunrise.

Who will see the October 7-8 total lunar eclipse? The October 2014 full moon passes directly through Earth’s dark (umbral) shadow. The total part of the October 8 eclipse lasts nearly 1 hour. A partial umbral eclipse precedes totality by about one hour and 10 minutes, and follows totality by about the same period of time, so the moon takes about 3 and 1/3 hours to completely sweep through the Earth’s dark shadow.

North and South America, the Pacific Ocean, New Zealand, Australia and eastern Asia are in a good position worldwide to watch the total eclipse of the moon on October 8. If you live in the Americas or Hawaii, the total eclipse happens before sunrise October 8. In the world’s eastern hemisphere, the total eclipse happens after sunset October 8.

A very light penumbral eclipse comes before and after the dark (umbral) stage of the lunar eclipse. But this sort of eclipse is so faint that many people won’t even notice it. The penumbral eclipse would be more fun to watch from the moon, where it would be seen as a partial eclipse of the sun.

Who will see the partial lunar eclipse on October 8? A partial lunar eclipse may be visible in the haze of morning dawn from the extreme eastern portion of North America (Newfoundland), before sunrise on October 8. A partial lunar eclipse can also be observed from western Asia (eastern India, Nepal, western China) after sunset on October 8.

Lesson We Learn From Warren Buffett’s House !!!

What Warren Buffett’s House Can Teach You About Success

warren buffets housevia The Motley FoolWarren Buffett’s house.

Warren Buffett’s house is the object of endless fascination when people learn about him — and for good reason. Buffett is one of the richest people in the world; therefore, it’s always surprising to learn that he’s lived in the same house for most of his adult life.

Looking more closely, Warren Buffett’s house can teach you a lot about success and what’s important in life.

Warren Buffett bought his house in Omaha, Nebraska in 1958 for $31,500. The house is stucco, and has five bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Warren Buffett has called his house “the third best investment” he ever made, behind only wedding rings.

In reverse order, here are the biggest lessons we can learn about success from Warren Buffett’s house.

Wealth Is About What You Don’t See

What does Warren Buffet’s house tell you about how much he’s worth? Nothing.

Most people’s idea of wealth isn’t someone who has a million dollars in the bank; it’s of someone spending a million dollars. Too often, people confuse the trappings of wealth with actual wealth.

Warren Buffett is now worth an estimated $68 billion. You can’t tell how much someone is worth from his or her house or car. Wealth is about what you don’t see.

Warren Buffett’s house is the same house he originally bought; but it was not a financial investment in the sense that Warren’s goal wasn’t appreciation in value. Warren bought a house he could afford, and has called it one of his best investments because, “My family and I gained 52 years of terrific memories with more to come.”

Warren didn’t lose sight of the idea that a home is for living in rather than for speculation on housing prices. When you mix the two, bad things can happen.

Possessions Don’t Bring Happiness

One thing you may notice about Warren Buffett’s house is that there is only one. As Warren Buffett wrote in his Giving Pledge:

Some material things make my life more enjoyable; many, however, would not. I like having an expensive private plane, but owning a half-dozen homes would be a burden.

Too often, a vast collection of possessions ends up possessing its owner. The asset I most value, aside from health, is interesting, diverse, and long-standing friends.

Stocks Are Better Investments Than Real Estate In The Long Run

“All things considered, the third best investment I ever made was the purchase of my home, though I would have made far more money had I instead rented and used the purchase money to buy stocks,” says Buffett.

On a purely financial level, data shows that, over the long term, houses do not return much above inflation, while the stock market generally does. Robert Shiller has collected home price data in the U.S. as far back as 1890. On an inflation-adjusted level, home prices have not risen much.

Success Has Nothing To Do With The House You Live In

There are many definitions of success, but the size of your house has nothing to do with it. While life will have its ups and downs, continuous learning, thinking for yourself, developing good habits, focusing on the long term, and having fun on the journey, is what you need to set yourself up for success in life. It’s as simple as that.

Message For the Day…” Surrender to GOD… HE will Free You from sin and sorrow…”

Just as you prescribe minimum qualifications for any profession, the minimum qualification for grace is surrender of egoism, control over senses, and regulated food and recreation (ahaara and vihaara). You are made or marred by the company you keep. A bad person who falls into good company is able to shed his evil quickly and shine forth in virtue. A good person falling into evil company is overcome by the subtle influence and quickly slides down into evil. Reading that Krishna advises in the Gita the giving up of all individual responsibilities (Dharmas), an enthusiastic devotee gave up all obligations and limits; but he had to be told that one obligation still remained if the grace of God had to be secured: maam ekam sharanam vraja – “Surrender to Me only”. When that surrender is complete and all acts, words and thoughts are dedicated to Him, along with all their consequences, then the Lord has promised that He will free you from sin and sorrow
