Message For the Day…” Self Satisfaction Results Out of Self Confidence…”

Today whatever good work we undertake in the world is being done in a casual manner without understanding its significance and imprinting its essence in our hearts. In the worldly aspect, we do several things either to attain a high position or reputation, or just for the sake of exhibition or in the hope of some material gain. Such types of effort are temporal and will yield only transitory benefits. Of the many things that we do daily, those intended to attain self-satisfaction are very few. Self-satisfaction will result only when we have confidence in our own Self. When there is Self-confidence and Self-satisfaction, you will be able to do Self-sacrifice, resulting in Self-realisation. Thus, immortality is the result of sacrifice (tyaga). It is for this reason that all the yajnas and other rituals in this country have been intended to symbolise sacrifice. They have a definite purpose of promoting divine strength.

On Sunday (March 1, 2015) two NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) will perform the last of Expedition 42’s scheduled spacewalks. The spacewalk will begin around 6:10 a.m. Central Time and is expected to last about 6 hours, 45 minutes. NASA Television coverage on Sunday will begin at 5 a.m. Central time. Watch here

NASA astronauts Barry Wilmore and Terry Virts completed the first spacewalk on February 21 and the second on Wednesday (February 25.)

The spacewalks are designed to prepare the orbiting laboratory for future arrivals by U.S. commercial crew spacecraft. The astronauts are laying cables along the forward end of the U.S. segment to bring power and communication to two International Docking Adapters slated to arrive later this year. The new docking ports will welcome U.S. commercial spacecraft launching from Florida beginning in 2017, permitting the standard station crew size to grow from six to seven and potentially double the amount of crew time devoted to research.

When astronaut Terry Virts returned the airlock after Wednesday’s spacewalk, he reported a minor seepage of water in his helmet. The Mission Management Team reviewed the status of spacewalk preparations as well as an analysis of the minor seepage of water and on Friday morning, the team expressed a high degree of confidence was that the suit’s systems are all in good shape and gave approval to proceed with Sunday’s spacewalk as planned.

Spacewalk specialists reported that Virts’ suit — serial number 3005 — has a history of what is called “sublimator water carryover”, a small amount of residual water in the sublimator cooling component that can condense once the environment around the suit is re-pressurized following its exposure to vacuum during a spacewalk, resulting in a tiny amount of water pushing into the helmet.

During Sunday’s spacewalk, Virts and Expedition 42 Commander Barry Wilmore will deploy 400 feet of cable along the truss of the station and install antennas as part of the new Common Communications for Visiting Vehicles (C2V2) system that will provide rendezvous and navigational data to visiting vehicles approaching the station, including the new U.S. commercial crew vehicles

All three spacewalks are in support of the long-planned ISS reconfiguration from its current configuration, which was designed to support visiting Space Shuttles, to its new configuration optimived for future visiting commercial crew and cargo vehicles.

While cargo vehicles attach to the ISS using the process of berthing, whereby they are captured with the station’s robotic arm and positioned below a berthing port prior to being bolted into place, commercial crew vehicles will not use this method.

This is because the process of un-berthing takes a long time to complete, since cables and ducting between the visiting spacecraft and the ISS must first be manually disconnected, control boxes installed, hatches closed, and then the visiting spacecraft must be maneuvered away from the station with the robotic arm.

This means that berthing ports cannot support a rapid evacuation of crew from the ISS should it ever be necessary, which will be one of the primary roles of the commercial crew vehicles as they serve as “lifeboats” during their crew’s stay at the ISS.

Instead, crewed vehicles will attach to the ISS via a process of docking, whereby the visiting spacecraft flies itself all the way into its docking port and attaches via a capture ring striking a corresponding attachment mechanism..

Bottom line: NASA astronauts Barry Wilmore and Terry Virts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) completed the first of three spacewalk on February 21, 2105 and the second on February. On Sunday (March 1, 2015) they will perform the last of Expedition 42’s scheduled spacewalks. The astronauts are securing cables to prepare the orbiting laboratory for future arrivals by U.S. commercial crew.

Learn three lessons: the impermanence of created things, your role as a servant, and God as the Master. The game called life is played with these – the process of creation, the created, the Creator. Rejoice that the Lord continues to place in your hands newer ways to serve Him and exult in the chance you receive. This attitude will give you immeasurable joy; to lead a life suffused with this joy is indeed bliss. Whatever is done from sunrise to sunset must be consecrated, as if it is the worship of the Lord. Just as care is taken to pluck only fresh flowers and to keep them clean and unfaded, so too, continuous and persistent effort should be made to perform deeds that are pure and unsullied.

Message For the Day….” Position , Power , and Pride …all Vanish Before Death …”

People commit the great fault of identifying themselves with the body. They accumulate a variety of things for the upkeep and comfort of the body, even when the body becomes weak and decrepit with age! Can death be postponed? When Yama’s (God of death) warrant comes, all must depart. Position, pride, and power – all vanish before death. Knowing this, strive day and night, with purity of body, mind and spirit, to realise the Higher Self. The body must be preserved as a vehicle for this service. But remember, you are not this body; this body cannot be you! Until the realisation of the purpose for which the human body is given, it is your duty to watch over it vigilantly and protect it from injury and disablement. Just as woollen clothes help withstand the rigour of the cold gales during winter and are discarded in summer, the material body is no longer essential when the cold gales of material life don’t affect you.

“எங்கே, அந்த பெல்காம்….இருக்கானா?”

என்கிறது நெய்-மிளகாய்க் குரல்.

மிளகாயை விட்டு விட்டு!.

“இதோ இருக்கேன்” என்று தண்டம்

ஸமர்ப்பிக்கிறார் பெல்காம்…..

“நான் இந்த மஹாராஷ்ட்வாவிலே சுத்த

ஆரம்பிச்சதிலேருந்து நீ எத்தனை தடவை

என்னைப் பார்க்க ஓடி வந்திருப்பே?”

மிளகாயே அறியாத சுத்த நெய் தன் உள்ளே

வர்ஷிப்பதாக உணர்ந்த பெல்காம்….தான் அடிக்கடி

பெரியவாள் தர்ஸனத்துக்கு வந்திருப்பதை இன்று

அவரே எல்லோருக்கும் தெரியப்படுத்துவதில்

உற்ற பெருமிதம். அவர் ‘இத்தனாம் தடவை’ என்று

சொன்ன குரலிலே பிரதிபலிக்கிறது.

“ஆமாம், உன்னாலே எப்படி இத்தனை தடவை

வர முடியறது?”

“எனக்கு ரயில்வே உத்யோகமோல்லியோ?

‘பாஸ்’லே வரேன்.

“ஓஹோ! ஸரி! உன் பாஸை இங்கே வை”

என்று தமக்கு முன் தரையைத் தட்டிக்

காட்டுகிறார் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவர்.

பெரியவாள் பணித்த வண்ணமே அந்த பக்தர் செய்கிறார்.

இருள் பிரியாத அந்த இளம் பொழுதிலே பெரியவரின்

திருக்கர அழுத்தலில் பக்கத்தில் இருந்த டார்ச்

அந்த ரயில்வே பாஸ் மீது ஒளியைப் பாய்ச்சுகிறது.

பெரியவர் பாஸை உன்னிப்பாகக் கவனிக்கிறார். பேசத்

தொடங்குகிறார். நெய்யிலே மிளகாய் வறுபடுகிறது.

“பாஸ்லே எக்ஸாமினர் கையெழுத்தே ஆகல்லே.

எனக்குத் தெரியும், ரயில்வேக்காராளுக்குப் பாஸ்

இருந்தாலும் இத்தனை ட்ரிப்தான் போகலாம்னு கணக்கு

உண்டுன்னு. இதிலேயானா நீ இத்தனை தடவை வந்ததுக்குக்

கணக்கா ஒரு கையெழுத்துக்கூட காணும்! நீ என்ன

பண்ணணும் தெரியுமா? முதல் காரியமா இந்தப் பாஸைக்

கொண்டு போய் ‘ஸரன்டர்’ பண்ணணும். இனிமேல் உன்

கைக்காசைச் செலவழிச்சுண்டு வர முடியும்னாலே

என்னைப் பாக்க வரணும்.!”

ஹர ஹர சங்கரர் அறநெறிச் சங்கரராக ஜ்வாலை விட்டு

அனைவரையும் பிரமிக்கச் செய்கிறார்.

இந்த அயனான சந்தர்ப்பத்திலே சென்னையைச்

சேர்ந்த சிஷ்ய பிரமுகர் ஒருவர் ஆயிரம் ரூபாய்

காணிக்கை பெரியவாளுக்குச் செலுத்த முன் வருகிறார்.

இதற்குப் பதினோராண்டுகளுக்கு முன் முனிவர்

ஸ்ரீ மடத்தை விட்டு வெளிவந்த அன்றிலிருந்து

பணக்காணிக்கையைக் கண்ணெடுத்தும் பார்ப்பதில்லை

என்று இவர் நன்கு அறிந்தவர்தான்.ஆயினும் பெரியவாளின்

திருவுளக்கருத்தின்படியே செலவழிக்கப்பட வேண்டுமென்று

அந்தரங்க பக்தியுடன் ஒதுக்கப்பட்ட தொகையாதலாலே

இந்த ஆயிரத்தைச் செலுத்துகிறார்.

பெரியவர் புரிந்து கொள்ளாமல் போவாரா?

“எங்கே பெல்காம்…….?” என்கிறார்.

திருணமாக வந்து நிற்கிறார் அந்த நபர்.

நெய்யிலே இப்பொழுது முந்திரியாக்கும் வறுபடுகிறது!

பெல்காமில்……நிறைவேற்றி வரும் ஆசாரிய ஸேவைத்

திட்டங்களைப் பற்றி ஏகமாக ச்லாகிக்கிறார் பெரியவர்.

இடித்த மேகமே இன்மழை கொட்டுகிறது.

அதில் ஒரு பணிக்கே இந்த ஆயிரம் ரூபாயைப்

பயன்படுத்துமாறு அருளாணை பிறக்கிறது.

“பணத்தை எப்படிக் கொண்டுபோவே?”

“பத்ரமா எடுத்துண்டு போறேன்” என்கிறார் பெல்காம்…

பொறுப்புணர்ச்சியின் நிறைவுடனும் அபார உலகியல்

அறிவுடனும் முனிவர் சொல்கிறார்;

“அதெல்லாம் ஸரியில்லை. தொலைஞ்சு போச்சுன்னா

நீயோ அவனோ (கொடுத்தவரோ) ஜவாப் இல்லை.

நான்தான் ஜவாப். (கொடுத்த பிரமுகரைப் பார்த்து)

நீ இந்தத் தொகைக்கு அவன் பேரிலே ‘டிராஃப்ட்’

வாங்கிக் குடுத்துடு.”

அறம் என்ன, அன்பு என்ன, பொறுப்பு என்ன,

ஸமயோசிதம் என்ன என்பதற்கெல்லாம் அன்றன்றும்

இப்படி அற்புத முன்னுதாரணம் தருவதே முனிவரின்

இயல்பாயிருக்கிறது.

Selfie of Curiosity ‘Mojovae’ Site on Mount Sharp of MARS !!!!

This self-portrait of NASA’s Curiosity Mars rover shows the vehicle at the “Mojave” site, where its drill collected the mission’s second taste of Mount Sharp.

The scene combines dozens of images taken during January 2015 by the Mars Hand Lens Imager (MAHLI) camera at the end of the rover’s robotic arm.  The pale “Pahrump Hills” outcrop surrounds the rover, and the upper portion of Mount Sharp is visible on the horizon.  Darker ground at upper right and lower left holds ripples of wind-blown sand and dust.

An annotated version, Fig. A, labels several of the sites Curiosity has investigated during three passes up the Pahrump Hills outcrop examining the outcrop at increasing levels of detail. The rover used its sample-collecting drill at “Confidence Hills” as well as at Mojave, and in late February was assessing “Telegraph Peak” as a third drilling site.

The view does not include the rover’s robotic arm.  Wrist motions and turret rotations on the arm allowed MAHLI to acquire the mosaic’s component images. The arm was positioned out of the shot in the images, or portions of images, that were used in this mosaic. This process was used previously in acquiring and assembling Curiosity self-portraits taken at sample-collection sites “Rocknest” (http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/catalog/PIA16468), “John Klein” (http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/catalog/PIA16937) and “Windjana” (http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/catalog/PIA18390).

Curiosity used its drill to collect a sample of rock powder from target “Mojave 2” at this site on Jan. 31, 2015.  The full-depth, sample-collection hole and the shallower preparation test hole beside it are visible in front of the rover in this self-portrait, and in more detail at http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/catalog/PIA19115 .  The Mojave site is in the “Pink Cliffs” portion of the Pahrump Hills outcrop. The frames showing the rover in this mosaic were taken during the 868th Martian day, or sol, of Curiosity’s work on Mars (Jan. 14, 2015).  Additional frames around the edges to extend the amount of terrain included in the scene were taken on Sol 882 (Jan. 29, 2015).  The frames showing the drill holes were taken on Sol 884 (Jan. 31, 2015).

For scale, the rover’s wheels are 20 inches (50 centimeters) in diameter and about 16 inches (40 centimeters) wide.  The drilled holes in the rock are 0.63 inch (1.6 centimeters) in diameter.

MAHLI was built by Malin Space Science Systems, San Diego. NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, manages the Mars Science Laboratory Project for the NASA Science Mission Directorate, Washington. JPL designed and built the project’s Curiosity rover.
