In the Gita, our body is described as the Kshetra and the Lord who resides in it is called the Kshetragna. Devotees who have a sacred heart and who entertain sacred thoughts go on pilgrimage to sacred places (also called Kshetras). They are undertaking a pilgrimage to such centres only because they believe those places to be sacred. If they are not sacred, there is no need for them to undertake such a pilgrimage at such expense of money and energy. As in this analogy, because the human body is sacred people establish connections between each other. If truly the body of an individual does not undertake a sacred task and lead a sacred life, no one will want to have any relationship with it. Therefore anyone who claims to keep the body sacred should make an attempt to indulge only in good actions, good thoughts, and good deeds.

Joke for the Day… ” Today you voted for us ….” !!!
While walking down the street one day, a high ranking politician is tragically hit by a truck and dies. His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.
“Welcome to Heaven,” says St. Peter. “Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we’re not sure what to do with you.”
“No problem, just let me in,” says the politician .
“Well, I’d like to but I have orders from higher up. What we’ll do is have you spend one day in Hell and one day in Heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.”
“Really, I’ve made up my mind. I want to be in Heaven,” says the politician.
“I’m sorry but we have our rules.” And with that, St. Peter escorts the politician to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to Hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a club and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him, everyone is very happy and in evening dress.
They run to greet him, hug him, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people. They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster and caviar. Also present is the Devil, who really is a very friendly guy and has a good time dancing and telling jokes.
They are having such a good time that, before he realizes it, it is time to go. Everyone gives him a big hug and waves while the elevator rises. The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on Heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.
“Now it’s time to visit Heaven.” So 24 hours pass with the politician head of state joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.
“Well then, you’ve spent a day in Hell and another in Heaven. Now choose your eternity.”
He reflects for a minute, then the head of state answers: “Well, I would never have thought it, I mean Heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in Hell.”
So Saint Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to Hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he is in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags. The Devil comes over to the politician and lays an arm on his neck.
“I don’t understand,” stammers the politician. “Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and club and we ate lobster and caviar and danced and had a great time. Now all there is a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable.”
The Devil looks at him, smiles and says, “Of course! Yesterday we were campaigning. Today you voted for us!”

Message for the Day….” Ways to get elevate oneself to the position of a realised Sage …”
A prescribed quality is exhibited or worn as a cloak by every entity in creation. This quality is also called its dharma. Just as a student in a particular class can be promoted to a higher class by effort, an individual by promoting one’s own natural dharma, and giving attention to something higher and nobler, can earn promotion to a higher level. A piece of iron is worth only a few pennies, but by making suitable changes to it, you produce a watch worth a thousand rupees. Observe here that it is the Samskara, or the change that we give to the substance, that brings the value to it and not the inherent value of the untreated material. Even an ordinary person can get an opportunity to elevate oneself to the position of a realised sage (Paramahamsa), by seeking the company of elevated beings.
Message for the Day…” Significance of sacrifice in one’s life….”
The Vedas advocate us to sacrifice everything, and through sacrifice we would be able to have vision of the Divine within. The creation and its maintenance depends only on sacrifice. If there is no sacrifice, there will be no life, and the society will not remain intact. Even from a worldly perspective, if we do not give out the breath that we take in, we cannot live. If blood is not constantly flowing from one place to another every instant, we cannot live. Unless the clouds give up the water they have gathered, they cannot remain as clouds. That is why it is said, what you cannot get by your knowledge and effort can be got by sacrifice. If we think that something is good and welcome it, some bad too may come in the process. That which gives you happiness when it comes will also cause sorrow when it goes away from you. Whether it is the good or the bad, we have to sacrifice continuously.

Message for the Day….” Being Humane is the natural Quality of a Human being…”
Children without good qualities, education without character building as its objective, and life which has no morality, are purposeless. An individual without peace of mind and the world which has no moon shining in it are similar. Every item of creation in this world has some distinctive feature and a character of its own. If any item gives up this distinctive aspect, it will destroy itself. For example, fire has the ability and quality to burn. Water has the ability to flow. Man has got the quality of human nature, and an animal has the quality of being brutal. When the ability to burn disappears, you cannot call it fire. When the ability to flow disappears, you cannot call it water. Similarly when the inner vision or the basic human nature disappears in an individual, you cannot call him a human being. Being humane is the natural quality of a human being.
World’s First UFO Landing Pad, and the First Landing….!!!
St. Paul, Alberta, a small town in east-central Alberta, Canada has the world’s first official UFO Landing Pad which was built in 1967 to celebrate Canada’s centennial. The 130 ton concrete structure consists of a raised platform with a map of Canada embossed on the back stop, consisting of stones provided by each province of Canada. The pad also contains a time capsule to be opened on the 100-year anniversary of the pad’s opening in 2067. A sign beside the pad reads:
The area under the World’s First UFO Landing Pad was designated international by the Town of St. Paul as a symbol of our faith that mankind will maintain the outer universe free from national wars and strife. That future travel in space will be safe for all intergalactic beings, all visitors from earth or otherwise are welcome to this territory and to the Town of St. Paul.

Message for the Day…” Our Culture teaches that one must never lose Hope …”
Bharatiyas lead lives of hope. The Bharatiya culture teaches that one must never lose hope. To suffer from lack of faith and to lose hope is not only losing all the strength within, but it also amounts to demeaning the human birth. Utsaham (Enthusiasm) and Shraddha(earnestness and interest) are things which will show the way for the progress of man. Every individual having such Utsaham andShraddha is sure to achieve success and attain glory in any kind of work undertaken. It is also said that one who possesses thisShraddha will attain wisdom too (Shraddhavan Labhate Jnanam). So we should make an attempt to go through the journey of our life with interest and enthusiasm.
Never Forget the Intrinsic value of Grandparents to their Grandchildren…!!!
I’ve always had a strong bond with my grandchildren, but I didn’t quite realize just how valuable that bond really is – particularly to them – until I came across a body of research that has observed the causes and effects of the beautiful relationships between grandparents and their grandchildren.
While the love of a parent for their child is something that cannot be eclipsed, a grandparent’s love is likely to be just as strong, yet different. For instance, a grandparent does not have to deal with the daily pressure of parenting, thus the bond that they forge with a grandchild is both very close and very strong. Read on to learn more about the significance of these relationships:
The New Study
Researchers at Brigham Young University in the US examined the role of grandparents in child development. The research sample consisted of 408 fifth-graders, who were asked a series of questions about the relationship they have with their grandparents. Examples of the questions included whether they sought important advice from their grandparents when they needed it, or whether they felt comfortable discussing important problems with them. The same questions were posed to the fifth-graders one year after the initial question and answer sessions.
One of the conclusions that the study came to was that the emotional relationship between grandparents and their grandchildren had a significant impact on their academic, psychological and social development. Participating children who had grandparents that were highly-engaged in their lives were found to be more sociable, engaged at school and showed more compassion and kindness than those who didn’t have a close relationship with their grandparents.
Another conclusion arrived at by the researchers was that children with more affectionate grandparents tended to have a higher level of self-confidence, which had a long-term positive impact on their lives.
Demographic considerations were shown to have little significance in the study. Strong grandparent-grandchild relationships were found regardless of whether the child lived in a single or two-parent household. Income differences were also shown to have a negligible impact on the strength of the relationships. In fact, grandparents that lived in separate households to their grandchildren were found to have the best relationship of all.
Furthermore, the researchers were emboldened enough by the study’s findings to propose that grandparent-grandchild relationships are even more important than parent-child relationships. This is because children having regular contact with their grandparents meant that they were more likely to have developed the ability to think beyond themselves, and their immediate circumstances.
Grandparents as Protectors – A Specific Example
A particular instance in which the value of a strong grandparent-grandchild relationship can be observed is when the grandchild or grandchildren are exposed to high-risk situations, such as experiencing poverty or going through a traumatic family event.
An article published in the University of Florida’s Family, Youth and Consumer Sciences newsletter back in 2007, explored the impact of the grandparent-grandchild relationship on the negative effects that maternal depression can have on a child.
Depressed mothers and behaviors associated with being in that state were found to inhibit cognitive development in their children, especially with regard to teenagers. Furthermore, school-aged children and teenagers were shown as far more likely to be depressed as adults.
A further study in this specific subject area, conducted by Silverstein & Ruiz and published in Family Relations in 2006, found that children who had strong grandparent-grandchild relationships in their lives were less likely to suffer the ill effects of having a depressed mother once they reached adulthood. This is a clear indication of the positive effects that a strong grandparent-grandchild relationship can have on a child that’s going through a difficult time at home.
