For The Love of Birds: This Chennai Man Feeds 2,000 Parrots Every Day

C Sekar serves thirty kilos of rice to the parrots who have been visiting his place since the last 25 years.

CHENNAI:  The dilapidated terrace of camera mechanic C Sekar in Chennai turns into a dining hall for around 2,000 parrots every day.

Every morning and evening, Mr Sekar arranges several rows of wooden planks and serves thirty kilos of rice to the birds who have been visiting his place since the last 25 years.

The 62-year-old owner of Camera House says, “What are we going to take back even if we earn a lot? This is just a service for these living creatures. This gives me lot of spiritual satisfaction”.

Mr Sekar avoids travelling out of the city for the love of these visitors. During unavoidable circumstances, he returns on the same day.

“Once, we had arranged my friend to feed the birds. But they just did not land to eat. They are sharp and they know me. Since then, I don’t travel at all,” he said.

Mr Sekar, who spends around five hours every day to feed these parrots, has little time left for camera repair work. The 62-year-old said he has pledged around 20 sovereigns of his wife’s gold to feed the birds.

He spends 40 per cent of his income to provide food to these birds. On days when he earns good money, the parrots get a special treat. “I feed them American baby corn and guava on days I make good money,” he told NDTV.

However, the 45-year-old house, where he lives on rent, is up for sale. Not willing to abandon these birds, Mr Sekar wants to sell a vintage collection of 4000 cameras to raise money so that he can buy the property.

Mr Sekar says he has the total support of his family.

Why Did Late President APJ Abdul Kalam Call Siddharth a Friend…?

Siddharth GJ is a motivational speaker, a father, a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist, and a friend of the late President APJ Abdul Kalam. He also has cerebral palsy. Siddharth’s journey has been, expectedly, full of challenges, but is nothing short of inspirational given all that he has achieved because of his determination and strong will.

How often does it happen that the President of India calls you his friend? That he can spot you in a crowd of thousands of people and talks about you in his many motivational speeches. This may be a dream for most of us but for Siddharth GJ it was a proud moment when the late President referred to him as a friend.

Siddharth has cerebral palsy. But he never let this come in the way of his succeeding at whatever he set his mind to. He excelled academically, found an intellectually challenging job, and also became a motivational speaker delivering over a hundred talks.

Kalam and Siddharth shared a great bond after their first meeting at Chennai airport. –

President Kalam read an article on Siddharth on an online portal that talked about Siddharth’s medical condition and how he overcame all the challenges to succeed in his life. Impressed by Siddharth’s resolve and perseverance, the President wrote to him and expressed a desire to meet him. They finally met at Chennai airport in December 2005.

“I still remember the day. It was December 2, 2005. My life changed after that. I made him a small presentation on issues faced by people with disabilities. He even talked about that at a conference, which gave me huge recognition. I will never forget my meeting with him. I was mesmerized by his presence,” Siddharth recalls.

President Kalam was so bowled over by Siddharth’s work that he talked about him at the inaugural speech of the First International and the Ninth Annual Conference of the Indian Academy of Cerebral Palsy.

Their bond grew stronger and they kept in touch and met a few more times. Siddharth recalls another incident when he had gone to attend a talk by President Kalam in Chennai. The President recognised his ‘friend’ from the stage and broke protocol to come and meet Siddharth in the crowd. 

“I loved meeting him because he did not make me feel that I was different. He treated me like a regular person. Often, people confuse cerebral palsy with mental illness. Which is so untrue because it is just a condition where the body and mind do not coordinate with each other. This affects the body posture and the way I behave. It has nothing to do with my intelligence,” says Siddharth.

Siddharth had jaundice when he was just three months old. His parents, who were simple villagers, did not realize the seriousness of the disease. The delay in treatment left Siddharth with the condition which makes him ‘different’ from others.

“The news shattered everyone in the family but they were so supportive. They never let me feel that I was any less. They would treat me exactly the way they would treat my sister. If she got a scolding, so would I,” he recalls.

The couple knew that Siddharth might not be as well co-ordinated as other kids of his age but he was as intelligent as any ‘normal’ child.

“It was not until I turned eight that I stepped into a school. Then, gradually, teachers saw my capabilities and gave me double promotions. I excelled in my studies and cleared my 12th exam with 90 percent marks in spite of having a scribe who barely knew English. I had to work very hard to explain to him what I wanted to convey. I could not score more because my scribe was not allowed to do the practical exam and draw diagrams,” says Siddharth.

He then finished his Master’s in Economics and excelled in that as well. He was now eager to enter a new world where he could work and become financially independent.

But this was just the start of the struggle Siddharth had to face because he encountered challenges and rejections at every step.

Many companies dismissed his job applications in spite of his incredible academic background. “They thought I would not be able to perform well under pressure. They just judged my abilities without even testing me. I was hurt and disappointed,” says Siddharth.

The rejections continued for several years and then a positive change came into his life when he got his first job in 2005 with ABN AMRO Central Enterprises Services Pvt. Ltd., as an officer trainee in the bank’s document checking section.

Siddharth has received various awards and recognitions for his work.

“That moment I felt that all my tears and hard work have paid off. All the pain and struggle were a thing of the past and I was full of new energy, hope and passion. I was proud because I got a job due to my capabilities and on my terms,” he recalls.

But this wasn’t the end of his journey. It was, rather, a new beginning. His life took a complete turn when he became a Tedx speaker in Chennai and, since then, he has never looked back.

“I spoke in front of an audience of over 250 people and they gave me a standing ovation. It felt so great to share my experiences and, since then, I have been giving many motivational talks at various platforms and inspiring people to live a more positive life,” he says.

He currently works with IndusInd Bank Ltd., as manager. In fact, he is the first person in the country with cerebral palsy to be a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist. –

A Certified Documentary Credit Specialist is a professional who demonstrates a high level of practical knowledge and understanding of the complex issues associated with documentary credit practice, which is a set of rules on the issuance and use of letters of credit (a document from a bank guaranteeing that a seller will receive payment in full as long as certain delivery conditions have been met).

He met a beautiful girl and says he experienced “love at first sight.” He is happily married to her and has a toddler boy. “I see myself in my son. He runs around the house and I live my childhood through him as I could not do so,” he says.

“I can’t thank my mother and my sister enough for their support. Sometimes, after continuous rejection, I would be very rude to them but they always supported me and showed me the right path. They would go out of their way to make me feel loved and accepted. The day when I came out of denial, I became a calmer person and pursued my life in a better way,” he says.

Siddharth’s story is one of struggle but also of love and support from the family helping him defeat hardships. He has not just overcome hurdles in his own life but is also, with his inspirational talks, helping others with disabilities live a more positive life today.

Meet 18 Year old Raman…The world’s Youngest Chartered Accountant…!!!

Ramkumar Raman, an 18-year-old Indian boy from Dubai, became the youngest CA in the world to be affiliated with ACCA. He completed the tough course in just three years and now wants to pursue an MBA.

While most students start their degree courses at the age of 18, this young boy not only finished his Chartered Accountant course, but also became the youngest CA in the world.

Meet Ramkumar Raman, the 18-year-old Indian boy from The Indian High School in Dubai.

Raman has been recognised by Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the global professional accounting body in the Gulf, as the youngest affiliate ever registered with them.

Raman, who is originally from Chennai, India, started his CA education in December 2012 and finished the course in three years in June 2015 by clearing 14 papers in the first attempt in Dubai. Initially, he decided to study for ACCA because he wanted to gain more knowledge in the field of accounting and finance. But he did not know that he would end up clearing it so fast.

According to Khaliji Times, Raman, hailing from a family of chartered accountants, used to get up at 6:00 am every day to study – even on holidays!

And to make sure his luck follows him to the examination hall, this superstitious boy wore the same shirt, pant, vest, socks and shoes and ate the same type of curries and rice, with potatoes, on all exam days.

Raman managed his CA studies along with his school and college studies. He usually took an average of 3.5 months to study for each exam which is held every June and December.

Many students fail to clear this hard-to-crack exam even after repetitive attempts, but Raman managed to pass all of his papers in the first attempt itself. He will now be working for three years as a CA to become a full-fledged ACCA member.

The London-headquartered ACCA has over 1,78,000 members and 4,55,000 students in 180 countries. While most of the ACCA candidates only start their journeys at 18 years of age, Raman has shown exceptional performance in the field.

He wants to obtain an MBA degree from the US, and eventually wants to follow a career in the field of investment banking.

Ten legendary eateries in Madras you simply cannot miss …

It is Madras Day – the day a city celebrates its birthday. And what is a birthday without a party and great food? So along with a friend and a foodie Vasudevan,  I decided to get all nostalgic and celebrate by heading to some of the oldest eateries in the city that we personally like and recommend.

I am not too much of a lunch or a dinner person, but as a kid, it is the tiffin that has always fascinated me. So I decided to stick to just places we would go for breakfast or for a quick evening meal. While I have been to some of these eateries since childhood – food, being a great favourite of both my parents, it is Vasudevan who curated the list.

We just went to two areas mainly – Mylapore and Sowcarpet with a stop over at Triplicane. This is by no means an exhaustive list and we hope to add to it as we go by.

We also looked at eateries which are fairly old and are favourites with almost every citizen of Madras. The only street vendor we include is Amudha’s Bhajji stall in Mylapore. I dont think there is a name for the stall, but Amudha is in demand. She has an entire set up in Mylapore, near Kapaleeshwar temple on the road and she is flocked by people, even before she prepares her dough. I met her during the Myalpore Festival and I decided to feature her here.

All these eateries mean more to us than just food. They have a story, a memory locked inside them. I am sure that all of you resonate with the thought as well. So let the emotions flow like the sambar as we go on this first food trail of Madras or Chennai as we know it today as we go on this tiffin trail.

 

Ratna Cafe, Triplicane

Our first stop of the day is to Triplicane, an area that fascinates me immensely for its heritage, its architecture, its melange of cultures and the food. I want to stop at the Parthasarathy temple for a quick darshan and the puliodharai, but we are a bit late. So we say a silent prayer and continue to one of the oldest eateries in Triplicane, a landmark by itself – Ratna Cafe.

Started in 1948 by a man from Mathura, Triloknath Gupta, the family still manage this very popular eatery. –

If there is one moment that defines our breakfast in Ratna Cafe, it is this – the waiter brings a contraption that looks like a saucepan and he pours the hot red sambar on the fluffy white idlis, until they are soaked in it. We order a plate of idli and vadai and top it with a plate of crispy golden brown ghee roast dosai,  on the recommendation of a friend, Giridhar on Twitter.

The menu is packed in the evenings with so many dishes to choose from. A board announces the same right at the entrance.

Rayar’s  Mess, Mylapore

Our next halt. One of the oldest and humble abodes which is very popular with most citizens of Madras, the Rayar’s Mess which has been around for more than 75 years in Mylapore. If there is one dish that is the signature dish, it is the kara chutney. Every foodie, including my father and his friends swear by it. Vasudevan specifically likes the over fermented super soft idlis which literally melts in the mouth.

Breakfast at Rayar’s Mess is usually idli, vadai, pongal served with a variety of chutneys, including the famous kara chutney, sambar and molagai podi. Top it up with filter kaapi.  This is what I call elaipotta tiffin (tiffin served on a banana leaf).

The eatery comes alive in the evening with bondas, rava dosai, kal dosai, adai, vadai, a variety of sweets and more dishes.

We speak to Kumar, the third generation owner, whose grandfather Srinivasa Rao started this. They were Kannadigas who had settled in Tamil Nadu ages ago and it reflects in the food – the recipes are probably the best of both worlds.

 

Karpagambal Mess, Mylapore

It feels like you are entering a temple. Right from the rangoli or the kolam on the steps to the large pictures of Gods and Goddesses on the walls to the various podis (powder) and pickles that is sold, everything about Karpagambal Mess is an ode to tradition.

My earliest memory to the place was when it I could not say no to a sweet, Vasudevan recommends kasi halwa, but we finally have wheat halwa.  There is also rich badam halwa for those who want to binge further. We stop right here as we have another six more eateries to visit.

 

Mami’s Mess, Mylapore

Next to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Mylapore is another famous eatery, popular with old timers and the young alike Mami’s Mess. Vasudevan and another friend on twitter – Degreekaapi recommends that we head there to taste thavala vada. But we are unlucky. However our appetite is satiated with the bhajjis and bondas around. Customers flock to buy Kozhukattai, a sweet dumpling made with rice flour filled with wheat and coconut. Although it was renovated recently it is still more than 50 years old.

The dish according to us, that you must eat here is keerai vadai. Vasudevan is also tempted by the vazhai poo adai served with avial, which is absolutely delicious.

Vasantha Mami apparently came from a small little village called Alvarkurichi in Tirunelveli which is very close to our ancestral village and she started this eatery in Mylapore. Her sons take care of it now.

In a little lane around the Kapaleeshwar temple is a small green grilled window on the wall that serves sinfully delicious bhajjis. You stand here and eat to your heart’s fill, be it bhajjis or upma or idlis. Sadly they were shut as they had a wedding in the family. Vasudevan says the Vazhakkai Bhajji is extremely good and my parents are a bit disappointed that I cannot not buy some bhajjis for home, but then, there is always another time.

 

Kalathi Stall, Mylapore

All in the same vicinity, it is very easy to miss this little news mart, a small shop hidden by trees. The headlines here scream of Rajinikanth and Sachin Tendulkar but what it does not scream about is the recipe of the rose milk which Mani and his family has safely guarded for over 80 years and sells it here fresh. I gulp glasses while Vasudevan buys the rose essence . A couple of women get off their two wheeler to drink panner soda, another speciality. Mani says celebrities have flocked to his shop.

Novelty Tea House, Mint Street

It is almost dark when we reach Mint Street and walking down the mini streets of Broadway and Parrys Corner is a delight in itself. As we navigate pedestrians, cows, cycle rickshaws, autos, tempos and cars, we find ourselves wondering if we are in Old Delhi or even Ahmedabad. Sowcarpet is one of the oldest locales in Chennai and my father who used to work here knows almost every eatery in the lanes.

We head to Novelty Tea House at the recommendation of my uncle, Kannan and a mutual friend of Vasudevan and mine on Facebook – Sreemathy Mohan. The pudhina onion dosai is what she recommended and that is what we order. I definitely recommend it as well along with the pav bhajji.

Novelty Tea House started as a tea stall in the late 50s by Chandrakant Moolchand Shah and it is now managed by the third generation. They do have branches everywhere, but do not miss the oldest eatery in Mint Street. The atmosphere is an experience in itself.

 

Mehta’s Vada Pav, Mint Street

There is a branch near my house near Purasaiwalkam but Vasudevan tells me that the the original should not be missed. So in a little stall, barely enough to house a man and his delicacies, is one of the oldest stalls here which sells vada pav and mirchi bhajji. Bhavin Mehta who has been here for more than 50 years proudly says that his is the best. Vasudevan agrees . And you thought, Madras is all about idli and dosai.

Kakada Ramprasad, Mint Street

I know of them since I was a kid as my father used to bring sweets and savouries home. Yet, when I land there today I am surprised to find a huge building, selling everything from jalebis to fafdas, chaats to badam milk. We decide to try out two of their most famous specialities – the aalu tikki chaat and the hot hot jalebis. I am a loss for words. You just have to eat it, sorry, devour it to experience it.

Anmol Lassi, Mint Street

They say eat, drink and be merry. We are eating and we are merry, but the drink is missing. So next door to Kakada Ramprasad, is the a former wrestler who speaks flawless Tamil with a great sense of humour, who came to Chennai from Patiala 27 years ago. The board says “Anmol Mohit Patiala, specialist in Kesar Lassi.”  He also serves masala butter milk . He says he stands here everyday from morning till night, except on Sundays. ” My wife will divorce me otherwise, ” he says with a laugh as we gulp down the cold icy lassi down our throats.

And finally the rains tumble down as we want to explore more eateries, but we run for cover and walk down the lanes to digest the entire spread from morning. I probably have to starve for the next couple of days and run miles to burn the calories, but then my love affair with Madras just got deeper. Bon appetite and enjoy the many flavours of the city.

If you have not visited all these stalls, you have not lived Madras yet. -!!!!!!!

திருவாரூரை அடுத்த சாத்தனூர் கிராமத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர் வேங்கட சுப்பிரமணியம். வேத விற்பன்னர். மகாபெரியவர் சன்னிதானத்தில் முதல் பக்தர். ஒரு முறை மகாபெரியவர் மயிலை கபாலீஸ்வரர் கோயிலுக்கு விஜயம் செய்தார். கற்பகாம்பாள் சன்னிதியில் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட குங்குமப் பிரசாதத்தைப் பார்த்ததும், அந்தக் குங்குமம் சுத்தமான தயாரிப்பாக இருக்க முடியாது என்று அவருக்குத் தோன்றியது. தூரத்தே கோஷ்டியில் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்த வேங்கட சுப்பிரமணியத்தை அருகில் வரும்படி கட்டளையிட்டார். ஓடோடி வந்து பவ்யமாக குனிந்தபடி நின்றார் அவர். உனக்கொரு வேலை கொடுக்கப் போறேன். செய்வியா?” என்றார். உத்தரவு” என்றார் வேங்கட சுப்பிரமணியம். தமிழ்நாட்டில் பல கோயில்களில் அம்பாள் சன்னிதியில் கொடுக்கப்படும் குங்குமம் அசலான தயாரிப்பாக இல்லை. எனவே, பக்தர்களுக்காக நீ சாஸ்திரோக்தமாக குங்குமம் தயாரிக்க வேண்டும்” என்று ஆக்ஞையிட்டார் மகாபெரியவர்.

மகாபெரியவர் கட்டளையிட்டவுடன் சும்மா இருக்க முடியுமா? வேதங்கள், உபநிஷத்துக்கள், அம்பாளின் மகத்துவத்தை விளக்கும் ஸ்தோத்திரங்கள் ஆகியவற்றில் குங்குமத்தின் பெருமைகளைக் குறித்த தகவல்களைச் சேகரித்தார். குங்குமம் தயாரிப்பு தொடர்பான புத்தகங்களைத் தேடிக் கண்டுபிடித்தார். பின் தயாரிப்பைத் துவக்கினார். நல்ல தரமான குண்டு மஞ்சள், எலுமிச்சை, படிகாரம், வெண்காரம், நல்லெண்ணெய் ஆகியவைதான் குங்குமத் தயாரிப்புக்கான மூலப் பொருட்கள். பழந்தயாரிப்புப்படி கைகளாலேயே தயாரிக்கப்பட்ட குங்குமத்தைச் செய்து முடித்ததும் வேங்கட சுப்பிரமணியத்துக்கு மகிழ்ச்சி பிடிபடவில்லை. தயாரித்த குங்குமத்தை ஒரு துணிப்பையில் போட்டு எடுத்துக்கொண்டு மகாபெரியவரைப் பார்க்க கும்பகோணம் விரைந்தார். குங்குமத்தை உள்ளங்கையில் இட்டுப் பார்த்தவுடன் மகாபெரியவரின் முகத்தில் மலர்ச்சி தெரிந்தது. இந்தப் பணியை நீ தொடர வேண்டும்” என்று சைகையிலேயே ஆணையிட்டார். வேங்கட சுப்பிர மணியம் ஸ்ரீவித்யா உபாசகர். அம்பாள் குங்குமப் பிரியை ஆயிற்றே! ஒரு அர்ப்பணிப்போடு குங்குமத் தயாரிப்பில் இறங்கிவிட்டார் வேங்கட சுப்பிரமணியம்.

அதாவது குங்குமப் பூவின் விழுதைப் பூசிக் கொண்டிருப்பவளும், நெற்றியை அலங்கரிக்கும் கஸ்தூரி திலகம் இட்டவளும், புன்னகைக்கும் கண்கள் உள்ளவளும், வில், அம்பு, பாசம், அங்குசம் ஏந்தியவளும், எல்லா மக்களையும் தன்பால் ஈர்ப்பவளும், செந்நிற மாலை, ஆடைகள் அணிந்து, செம்பருத்திப் பூ போல ஒளிமயமாக இருப்பவளுமான அம்பிகையை ஜபகாலத்தில் நினைவு கொள்கிறேன் என்பதுதான் இதன் பொருள். அம்பாள் உமைக்கு பல அம்சங்கள். திரிபுரசுந்தரி, காமாட்சி, அபிராமி, பார்வதி, லலிதா என்று பல திருநாமங்கள். ஒவ்வொரு அம்சத்திலும், பல பாக்கியங்களை பக்தர்களுக்கு அள்ளித் தருகிறாள் அம்பாள். எப்போதும் சுமங்கலியாகவே இருப்பவள் லலிதா” என்று லலிதா சகஸ்ரநாமத்தில் சொல்லப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. சுமங்கலியான பெண்ணை பளிச்சென்று வெளிப்படுத்துவது, அவளது நெற்றியில் அலங்கரிக்கும் குங்குமம்தான். ஒரு பெண் தன் திருமணத்தின் போதுதான் குங்குமம் வைத்துக் கொள்ளும் தகுதியைப் பெறுகிறாள். நெற்றியிலுள்ள குங்குமம், ஒரு பெண்ணின் சுமங்கலித் தன்மையை மட்டும் சொல்வதல்ல. அவளுக்குள் பொதிந்திருக்கும் ஞானத்தையும், ஆற்றலையும் குறியீடாக உணர்த்தும் தன்மையும் கொண்டது. சௌந்தர்ய லஹரியும் லலிதா சகஸ்ரநாமமும் குங்குமத்தின் பெருமைகளை எடுத்து வைக்கின்றன.

சுமார் 5,000 வருடங்களாக, குங்குமம் வைத்துக் கொள்வது என்பது நமது சம்பிரதாயமாக இருந்து வருகிறது என்கிறது ஒரு புராணத் தகவல். இரண்டு இமைகளுக்கு நடுவில் நெற்றிப் பொட்டில் குங்குமம் வைத்துக் கொள்வதற்குப் பல காரணங்கள் உண்டு. நமது உடலில் ஆற்றலை வெளிப்படுத்தும் வகையில் ஏழு சக்கரங்கள் உள்ளன. நமது செயல்கள், சாதனைகள், சாகசங்கள் என்று அனைத்துக்குமே காரணமாக அமைந்தவை இந்தச் சக்கரங்கள். இந்தச் சக்கரங்களின் செயல்பாட்டைத் தூண்டி விடுவதில், முதுகுத் தண்டுக்கு அடிப்பகுதியில் பொக்கிஷமாக இருக்கும் குண்டலினி சக்திக்கு பெரும்பங்கு உண்டு. யோகம், தியானம் போன்றவற்றின் மூலம் குண்டலினி சக்தியை எழுப்பி, இந்த ஏழு சக்கரங்களைத் தூண்டி விடலாம். இந்த ஏழு சக்கரங்களில் ஒன்றான ஆக்ஞை, நெற்றிப்பொட்டில், புருவங்களின் மத்தியில்தான் உள்ளது. ஒருவரின் ஞானம், பேரறிவு ஆகியவை வெளிப்பட காரணமாக அமைவது இந்த ஆக்ஞா சக்கரம் தான். அதைக் குறித்துத்தான் நெற்றிப்பொட்டில் குங்குமம் வைக்கிறோம்.

Odisha girl wins top award at Google Science Fair……..

Lalita Prasida, 13 used corn cobs to clean waste water, for which she won ‘The Community Impact’ Award at 2015 Google Science Fair.

A 13-year-old girl from Odisha won the 2015 Google Science Fair, ‘The Community Impact’ Award on Monday, September 21 hosted by Google in Mountain View, California in partnership with the Scientific American that sponsored the Community Impact award, LEGO Education, National Geographic and Virgin Galactic.

Lalita Prasida Sripada Srisai , a 9th grader at the Delhi Public School in Damanjodi, Odisha received $10,000 and will get a year of mentoring from Scientific American for her project that makes a practical difference in the community by addressing an environmental, health or resources challenge.

Her project, ‘Low Cost Bio- Adsorbent’ aims to clean waste water by flowing through different layers of Corn cobs which is a cost-effective and simple technique of cleaning water.

She uses corn cobs in her project.

Corn cobs, she says, are useful for immobilising the contaminants in domestic and industrial effluents, and in ponds,reservoirs and water tanks as well.

Her experiment (diagram below) shows that Corn cobs could clean water up to 70 to 80 per cent because they are suitable adsorbents and have high mechanical strength, rigidity and porosity.

Started five years ago the Google Science Fair is a an annual global online competition for students ages 13 to 18, and honours a project that makes a practical difference in a community by addressing anenvironmental, health or resources challenge.

The grand Google Science Fair prize of $50,000 was won by an Americanstudent Olivia Hallisey, 16 to detect Ebola.

Also partners of annual Google Science Fair Awards are LEGO Education, National Geographic and Virgin Galactic and offer mentoring to the winners year round.

 

Anurudh Ganesan

Anurudh Ganesan15, of United States, won the Lego Education Builder award.

The award is given to a student who uses an innovative, hands-on approach to solve some of the greatest engineering challenges.

His project titled ‘Vaxxwagon: An Innovative eco-friendly No Ice, No electric, active refrigeration system for last-leg vaccine transportation’ is about vaccine transportation to remote locationsthat requires both ice-packs and electricity which is a major problem in developing countries.

His existing prototype costs less than $100.

He has also applied for its patent and was placed 3rd at National Geography Bee in Maryland.

Ganesan will travel the LEGO Group headquarters in Billund, Denmark and will have access to work with a LEGO Education executive for six months as a mentor to learn how to launch a business and the art of entrepreneurship.

Deepika Kurup

Deepika Kurup  17, of United States won the National Geographic Explorer Award given to a a project in the natural sciences.

Her project was focused on to find solution for the world’s clean water problem.

According to the World Health Organization, one-ninth of the global population lacks access to clean water, and 500,000 children die every year because of water related diseases.

Kurup, a senior at Nashua High School South in Nashua, New Hampshire, will travel on a 10-day National Geographic Expedition to the Galapagos Archipelago, ‘Darwin’s living laboratory’ and home to an abundance of wildlife.

Kurup project titled, “Novel photocatalytic previous composites for removing multiple classes of toxins from water,” shows that the photocatalytic water purification technology developed in her research is safe and environmentally-friendly, as it does not produce any toxic byproducts.

The purification process uses only solar energy, so it’s cost effective.

Pranav Sivakumar

Pranav Sivakumar 15, United States, received the Virgin Galactic Pioneer Award given for innovation in the area of space and physics.

Sivakumar’s project focuses on an automated search for gravitationally lensed quasars in theSloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS).

In his report he said, “I report an automated method for finding and characterising gravitationally lensed quasars in the SDSS.”

The survey data was utilised to examine the properties of target quasars and their neighbours to determine whether these two SDSS objects were images of the same quasar.

The algorithm not only identified 56 lensed quasars reported in the literature but alsoidentified 109 new high-probability candidates.

Krtin Nirhiyanandam

Krtin Nithiyanandam , 14, United Kingdom, won the Scientific American Innovator Award, honoured for a project in the pure sciences.

He received $25,000 and a year of mentoring.

Nithiyanandam through the project shows the developing and earlier diagnosis of minimally-invasive diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.

He has developed a quantum dot probe that can potentially cross the blood-brain barrier and be used as a more sensitive, non-invasive diagnostic tool for the earlier diagnosis of Alzheimer’s.

Girish Kumar

Girish Kumar 17 of Singapore, won the Google Technologist Award for helping improve learning through auto-generated study questions.

For the project, Kumar developed an algorithm that would pick sentences from an assigned text and convert them to questions.

This, he evaluated with a group of students for its effectiveness before submitting to Google.

இசையோடு பிறந்து, இசையில் வளர்ந்து, இசையில் மூழ்கி முத்துக்கள் எடுத்து இணையற்ற சரித்திரம் படைத்தவர் இசை மேதை எம்.எஸ். சுப்புலட்சுமி. அவருடைய நூற்றாண்டு வருடம் ஆரம்பமாகும் இந்நாளில், அவரது நினைவில் சற்று லயித்திருப்போம்!

தன் இசையைக் கேட்கும் ஒவ்வொருவரையும் புனிதப் பயணம் அழைத்துச் சென்று ஆலயங்களைத் தரிசிக்க வைத்த இசையரசி அவர். தியாகராஜரின் கீர்த்தனைகளைப் பாடும்போது, கருணையே வடிவமான ராமனைக் கண்முன் கொண்டுவந்து நிறுத்துவார். முத்துஸ்வாமி தீட்சிதரின் ‘துவஜாவந்தி’ ராகக் கீர்த்தனை மூலம் அனைத்து கலைகளுக்கும் இருப்பிடமான திருவானைக்கா அகிலாண்டேஸ்வரியைத் தரிசிக்க வைப்பார். சியாமா சாஸ்திரியின் பாடல்களை எம்.எஸ். இசைக்கும்போது, காஞ்சி காமாட்சியும் மதுரை மீனாட்சியும் அலங்கார தேவதைகளாக அணிவகுத்து நிற்பார்கள்.

1916 செப். 16-ம் தேதி மதுரையில் பிறந்தார் எம்.எஸ். தந்தை சுப்பிரமணிய ஐயர், பிரபல வழக்கறிஞர். தாய் சண்முகவடிவு, வீணை இசைக் கலைஞர். வீட்டில் குஞ்சம்மா என்று செல்லமாக அழைக்கப்பட்டார் எம்.எஸ். 5-வது படிக்கும்போது, ஒருநாள் ஆசிரியர் அடித்துவிட, குஞ்சம்மா மயக்கமாகிவிட்டார். சில நாட்களில் உடல்நிலை சரியான பிறகும், குஞ்சம்மாவை இடைவிடாத இருமல் வாட்டியது. அம்மா சண்முகவடிவின் முடிவுப்படி பள்ளிப் படிப்புக்கு முற்றுப்புள்ளி விழுந்தது.

ஒரு சமயம், சண்முகவடிவுக்கு வெளியூரில் கச்சேரி. குஞ்சம்மாவையும் அழைத்துச் சென்றார். மேடையில் அம்மா வீணை வாசித்துக்கொண்டிருக்க, மகள் வெளியே மணலில் வீடுகட்டி விளையாடிக்கொண்டிருந்தார். கண்திறந்து பார்த்தபோது, குஞ்சம்மா இல்லாததைக் கண்டு பதற்றம் அடைந்தார் சண்முகவடிவு. தேடிப் பார்த்து அழைத்துவரும்படி பக்கத்தில் இருந்தவரைப் பணித்தார். குஞ்சம்மா கண்டுபிடித்து அழைத்துவரப்பட்டார். மேடையில், அந்த 8 வயதுக் குழந்தையைப் பக்கத்தில் உட்காரவைத்துக்கொண்டதும், மகளை ஒரு பாட்டுப் பாடச் சொன்னார் சண்முகவடிவு. ‘மராத்தி’பஜன் ஒன்றைக் குஞ்சம்மா பாட, அந்த இனிய குரலில் அங்கிருந்தவர்கள் சொக்கிப்போனார்கள்.

எவரிமாட எம்.எஸ். சுப்புலட்சுமி

குஞ்சம்மாவின் திறமையைக் கண்டறிந்த ரசிகர் ஒருவரின் சிபாரிசின் பேரில், அவருடைய குரலை ஹெச்.எம்.வி. நிறுவனம் பதிவுசெய்து வெளியிட்டது. ‘செஞ்சுருட்டி’ ராகத்தில் மதுரை மீனாட்சி அம்மனைப் போற்றி, ‘மரகத வடிவு’ பாடியபோது குஞ்சம்மாவுக்கு வயது 10. ‘மதுரை சண்முகவடிவு சுப்புலட்சுமி’ என்று கிராமபோன் ரெக்கார்டு லேபிளில் பெயர் அச்சிடப்பட்டது. பிறகு, எம்.எஸ்.எஸ். என்பது சுருங்கி, உலகமே இன்றும் என்றும் உச்சரிக்கும் ‘எம்.எஸ்’ ஆனது!

டீன் ஏஜ் பருவத்தை நெருங்குவதற்கு முன்பாகவே எம்.எஸ்ஸின் திருமணம் குறித்து சண்முக வடிவுக்குக் கவலை வந்துவிட்டது. மகளிடம் இதுபற்றிப் பேசினார்.

“எனக்கு இப்போ கல்யாணத்துக்கு அவசரமில்லேம்மா. சங்கீதத்துல நிறைய சாதிக்கணும்னு எனக்கு ஆசை…” என்று தன் எண்ணத்தை உறுதியுடன் தெரிவித்தார் குஞ்சம்மா.

எம்.எஸ். தன் இசைப் பயணத்தைத் தொடரும்பொருட்டு சென்னைக்குப் பயணமானார். “மதுரைலேர்ந்து வந்திருக்கிற சுப்புலட்சுமிங்கிற சின்னப் பொண்ணு ரொம்ப நல்லாப் பாடறாளாமே…” – சென்னை ரசிகர்களின் வாய்மொழி விளம்பரம் மூலமாகப் பிரபலம் அடையத் தொடங்கினார் எம்.எஸ். சென்னையின் சங்கீத சூழ்நிலை, பிறருடன் பழகும் விதத்தில் எம்.எஸ்ஸிடம் மாற்றங்களை ஏற்படுத்தின. கூச்ச சுபாவம் மெல்ல மெல்ல விலகியது.

‘கிராமபோன் கம்பெனி ஆஃப் இந்தியா’வில் இருந்து அழைப்புகள் வந்தன. ‘கோகிலகான எம்.எஸ்.சுப்புலட்சுமி’ என்று கிராமபோன் தட்டில் பெயரை அச்சிட்டார்கள். எம்.எஸ். பாடிய தியாகராஜரின் ‘காம்போதி’ ராகக் கிருதியான ‘எவரிமாட…’ இசைத் தட்டு விற்பனையில் சாதனை படைக்க, ‘எவரிமாட எம்.எஸ்.சுப்புலட்சுமி’ என்ற பட்டப் பெயருடன் அழைக்கப்பட்டார் எம்.எஸ்!

மியூசிக் அகாடமியில் ஏற்பாடாகியிருந்த அரியக்குடி ராமானுஜ ஐயங்காரின் கச்சேரி கடைசி நிமிடத்தில் ரத்தாகிவிட்டது. 16 வயதே நிரம்பிய எம்.எஸ். சுப்புலட்சுமிக்கு அன்று அரியக்குடியின் மேடையைக் கொடுத்தது அகாடமி. இங்கே மேடையேறிய முதல் பெண்மணி என்ற பெருமையைப் பெற்றார் எம்.எஸ்.

பாமரர்கள் மட்டுமல்ல; அன்றைய இசை மேதைகளும் வயது வித்தியாசம் பாராமல் இந்தப் புது வரவை நல்வரவாக ஏற்றுக்கொண்டார்கள். நாகஸ்வர சிம்மம் டி.என்.ராஜரத்தினம் பிள்ளை, செம்பை வைத்தியநாத பாகவதர், வயலின் மேதை மைசூர் டி.சவுடையா போன்றவர்கள் எம்.எஸ்ஸின் பாட்டுத் திறனை வியந்து பாராட்டினார்கள். கச்சேரியைக் கேட்ட வீணை காரைக்குடி சாம்பசிவ ஐயர், ‘‘குழந்தே… உன் தொண்டைக்குள்ளே நீ வீணையை ஒளிச்சுவெச்சுருக்கே…’’ என்றார்.

அதன் பின்னர், படிப்படியாக மேலேறிச் சென்று உயரம் தொட்டார் அவர். காஞ்சி மாமுனிவரின் அருள் கிடைக்கப் பெற்றார். கடல் கடந்து சென்று கலாச்சாரத் தூதுவரானார். விருதுகள் இவரைத் தேடி வந்தன. ‘பாரத ரத்னா’ வரை உயரிய விருதுகளைப் பெற்றாலும் பணிவின் உறைவிடமாகத் திகழ்ந்து சங்கீத உலகில் கோலோச்சினார் எம்.எஸ். இவையெல்லாம் சாத்தியமானது எப்படி?

1902 செப்டம்பர் 4-ம் தேதி சென்னை திருவல்லிக்கேணியில் பிறந்த டி.சதாசிவம், எம்.எஸ். வாழ்க்கையில் இணைந்தது, பின்னவருக்கு மிக முக்கியமான அத்தியாயம். ரயில் பயணம் ஒன்றில் நடந்த இவர்களது முதல் சந்திப்பு, எம்.எஸ். என்கிற மந்திரச் சொல் உலகின் மூலைமுடுக்குகளில் எல்லாம் உச்சரிக்கப்படுவதற்கு வித்திட்டது.

மதுரையில் பிறந்த வீட்டுச் சூழலிலிருந்து சுப்புலட்சுமியை மீட்டெடுத்து, இசை உலகில் யாரும் எட்டாத உயரத்துக்கு விஸ்வரூபம் எடுக்க வைக்கும் பொறுப்பைத் தன் வாழ்க்கையின் குறிக்கோளாகவே அமைத்துக்கொண்டவர் சதாசிவம்.

1940, ஜூலை 10 அன்று சென்னையை அடுத்த திருநீர்மலை கோயிலில் எம்.எஸ்ஸை வாழ்க்கைத் துணைவியாக்கிக் கொண்டார் சதாசிவம். கல்யாண ஏற்பாடுகள் அனைத்தையும் கவனித்துக்கொண்டவர், ‘தி இந்து’ ஆங்கில நாளிதழின் ஆசிரியர் கஸ்தூரி சீனிவாசன்.

எம்.எஸ்ஸின் கற்பனை வளத்துக்குக் கொஞ்சமும் சிக்கல் இல்லாமல் அவருடைய கச்சேரிகளைத் திட்டமிட்டுக் கொடுத்தார் சதாசிவம். ஒரு கச்சேரியில் மெயின் ராகம் எது, சப்-மெயின் ராகம் எது என்று சகலத்தையும் முடிவுசெய்து கொடுத்ததும் அவரே!

எம்.எஸ். பாடிவரும் பக்தி ததும்பும் பஜனைப் பாடல்கள் அனைவரையும் கவர்ந்திழுப்பதைக் கண்ட சதாசிவம், எம்.எஸ்ஸின் பாட்டுத் திறனை முழுவதும் வெளிக்கொண்டுவரும் வகையில், எழுத்தாளர் ‘கல்கி’யுடன் விவாதித்து ‘மீரா’ திரைப்படத்தை உருவாக்கினார். வெள்ளி விழா கொண்டாடிய அப்படத்தில், எஸ்.வி.வெங்கட்ராமன் இசையமைப்பில் எம்.எஸ். பாடிய பாடல்கள் பெரிய அளவில் வெற்றிபெற்றன. அதில் ‘கல்கி’ எழுதிய ‘காற்றினிலே வரும் கீதம்’ பாடல் ஒவ்வொரு வீட்டிலும் தேசிய கீதமானது!

1947 அக்டோபர் 2.

காந்தியின் பிறந்த நாளில் பாடுவதற்கு எம்.எஸ். அழைக்கப்பட்டார். தவிர்க்க இயலாத காரணங்களால் அவரால் டெல்லி செல்ல இயலவில்லை. சென்னையில் பாடலைப் பதிவுசெய்து ஒலி நாடாவை டெல்லிக்கு அனுப்பிவைத்தார் சதாசிவம்.

அக்டோபர் முதல் தேதியன்று டெல்லியிலிருந்து தகவல் வந்தது. “மேடம்… ‘ஹரி தும் ஹரோ’ என்ற மீராவின் பாடலை நீங்கள் பாடிக் கேட்க வேண்டும் என்று காந்தி விரும்புகிறார். பாடலுக்கு டியூன் தெரியவில்லை என்றாலும் பரவாயில்லை, எந்த ராகமாக இருந்தாலும் உங்கள் குரலில் கேட்க வேண்டும் என்பது காந்தியின் விருப்பம்…”

ஆனால், எம்.எஸ். அதற்கு உடன்படவில்லை. அந்தப் பாடலுக்கு இசையமைக்க ஆர்கெஸ்ட்ராவினர் அழைக்கப் பட்டனர். வெவ்வேறு விதமான டியூன்கள் அலசப்பட்டன. அவற்றில் ஒரு டியூன் ஓரளவுக்குத் திருப்திகரமாக இருக்க, ஆல் இந்தியா ரேடியோ அலுவலகம் விரைந்தார் எம்.எஸ். அந்தப் பாடலைப் பாடிப் பதிவுசெய்தார். மறுநாள் காலை விமானம் மூலம் ஒலிநாடா டெல்லிக்குப் பறந்தது!

அக்டோபர் 2-ம் தேதி மாலை, பிரார்த்தனைக் கூட்டத்தில் தான் மிகவும் விரும்பிய பாடலைக் கண்கள் மூடிக் கேட்டு ரசித்தார் காந்தி.

ஜனவரி 30,1948 அன்று மாலை காந்தி சுடப்பட்டார் என்கிற சோகத் தகவல் வானொலியில் கசிந்தது. தேசமே துக்கத்தில் மூழ்க, அனைத்து வானொலி நிலையங்களிலும் ஒலிபரப்பான பாடல், காந்தியின் பிறந்த நாளுக்கென்று எம்.எஸ். பாடிப் பதிவுசெய்து அனுப்பிய ‘ஹரி தும் ஹரோ’!

விருதுகள் எம்.எஸ்ஸைத் தேடி வந்தன. அதிலும் ஒரு பெரிய விருது அவரது வீடு தேடியே வந்தது. நாட்டின் குடியரசுத் தலைவரே நேரில் கொண்டுவந்து கொடுத்தார்.

2002-ம் ஆண்டு எம்.எஸ்., பண்டிட் ரவிசங்கர், செம்மங்குடி, டி.கே.பட்டம்மாள் ஆகிய நால்வருக்கு மியூசிக் அகாடமியின் பிளாட்டினம் ஜூப்ளி விருது வழங்க அப்துல் கலாம் வந்திருந்தார். உடல் நலக் குறைவு காரணமாக விழாவுக்கு எம்.எஸ்ஸால் செல்ல இயலவில்லை.

விவரம் அறிந்த குடியசுத் தலைவர், விழா முடிந்ததும் எம்.எஸ்-ஸின் கோட்டூர்புரம் வீட்டுக்குச் சென்று, அகாடமியின் விருதையும் பதக்கத்தையும் நேரில் கொடுத்துவிட்டு விமான நிலையம் சென்றார்.

எம்.எஸ்ஸின் பார்வையில் சாதனை

“வாழ்க்கையில் உங்களுக்குப் பூரண திருப்தி கொடுத்தது எதுவென்று நினைக்கிறீர்கள்?” என்று ஒருசமயம் எம்.எஸ்ஸிடம் கேட்கப்பட்டபோது, முதலில் கொஞ்சம் தயங்கிவிட்டு, பிறகு அழுத்தம் திருத்தமாக அவர் சொன்னது:

“நம் ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் கடவுள் ஒரு திறமையைக் கொடுத்தனுப்புகிறார். நம்மால் இயன்றவரை அந்தத் திறமையைப் பயன்படுத்திக்கொள்கிறோம். என்னைப் பொறுத்தவரை யாருக்கும் நான் எந்தத் தீங்கும் மனசால்கூட நினைத்ததில்லை. அது மட்டும்தான் இன்னிக்கு வரைக்கும் நான் திருப்திப்பட்டுக்கொள்கிற விஷயம். என்னோட சாதனைன்னு நான் நினைக்கிறதும் இதைத்தான்!”

எம்.எஸ். ஆத்ம திருப்திக்காகவும் உலக அமைதிக்காகவும் பாடியவர். கச்சேரிகள் மூலம் வந்த சன்மானத்தைக் கொண்டு நிறைய சொத்துக்களை அவர் வாங்கியிருக்க முடியும். ஆனால், சங்கீதம் தனக்குக் கொடுத்ததைத் தர்ம காரியங்களுக்குத் திருப்பிக் கொடுத்து மன நிறைவு அடைந்தார். ஒரு புள்ளிவிவரத்தின்படி, தர்மமாக எம்.எஸ். கொடுத்த தொகை கிட்டத்தட்ட 3 கோடி ரூபாய்!

நிறைவாக…

72 ராகங்களில் தொகுக்கப்பட்ட மகா வைத்தியநாத சிவனின் ‘மேள ராகமாலிகை’ பாடலை, காஞ்சி மகா பெரியவரின் வேண்டுகோளின்பேரில் எம்.எஸ். பாடினார்.

“மேள ராகமாலிகையின் வார்த்தைகள், அர்த்தங்களைப் பொதித்துப் பொதித்து அடக்கிய அமைப்பில் இருக்கும். ‘கௌரி மனோஹரி தம்பர சத்தம்’ என்று வந்தால், அதில் கௌரி மனோஹரி என்பது ராகத்தைக் குறிக்கும். ‘ஹரிதம்பர சத்தம்’ என்பது பரமேஸ்வரனைக் குறிக்கும். இந்த இடத்தில், ஒரு கணத்துக்கும் குறைவாக இடைவெளி கொடுத்து இரண்டு அர்த்தங்களும் விளங்கும்படி பாட வேண்டும்” என்று ஆணையிட்ட மகா பெரியவரிடம், “இது எப்படிச் சாத்தியம்?” என்று தன் இயலாமையை வெளிப்படுத்தியிருக்கிறார் எம்.எஸ்.

“நீயா பாடப்போறே? அவ பாடிடுவா, நீ ஏன் கவலைப்படறே?” என்று சொல்லியிருக்கிறார் பெரியவர். அதே மாதிரி, அந்த இடத்தில் உரிய முறையில் துல்லியமாகப் பாடினார் எம்.எஸ்.

ஒலிப்பதிவு முடிந்து ஒலிநாடா வெளியான தருணத்தில் எம்.எஸ்ஸிடம் மகா பெரியவர் சொன்னார்:

“சூரிய-சந்திரர்கள் உள்ளவரை உன் புகழ் இருக்கும்.”

அது சத்திய வாக்கு. பொய்க்காது!

பெரியவாளோட பரம பக்தர் ஒருவருடைய அனுபவம்…..

டெல்லியில் ஸென்ட்ரல் கவர்ன்மென்ட் உத்யோகம். 1974 ல் காலை ஆபிஸுக்கு வந்து அட்டன்டன்ஸ் ரிஜிஸ்டரில் கையெழுத்து போடப் போனபோது ….எங்கே போடுவது? என்றுகூட தெரியாத அளவு திடீரென்று பார்வை போய்விட்டது! பகவானே!  உடனேயே ஸப்தர்ஜங் ஹாஸ்பிடலுக்கு போய் காண்பித்தார். டாக்டர்களோ கண்ணாடி போட்டால்கூட பார்வை வருவது ஸந்தேஹம் என்று சொல்லிவிட்டனர். உடனே மெட்ராஸுக்கு வந்து அப்போதுதான் ப்ரபலமாகிக் கொண்டிருந்த டாக்டர் பத்ரிநாத்திடம் காண்பித்தார். 
அவர் எல்லா டெஸ்டும் பண்ணிவிட்டு  இது “போட்டோ கொவாகுலேஷன் ” என்று சொல்லிவிட்டார். அதாவது ரெடினாவை ஒரு திரவம்  மறைப்பதால்,உண்டாகும் ஒரு வ்யாதி. ஆபேரஷன் மூலம் அந்த திரவத்தை வற்றச் செய்யலாம். அதோடு ஒரு கண்ணாடியும் போட்டுக் கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்று சொன்னார்.

என்ன ஆனாலும் பெரியவா தர்ஶனத்துக்கு அப்பறந்தான்! என்று மனஸை திடப்படுத்திக் கொண்டு, மறுநாள் தேனம்பாக்கத்தில் இருந்த பெரியவாளை தர்ஶனம் பண்ணப் போனார் டெல்லி பக்தர். நல்ல கூட்டம். அங்கே போனதும் இவர் மனஸில் ஒரு ஸங்கல்பம். “பெரியவாளா கூப்டு கேட்டாலொழிய அவர்கிட்ட எதுவும் சொல்லப் போறதில்லே” என்பதே! கிணத்தடியில் உட்கார்ந்திருந்த பெரியவா இவரையும் இவர் குடும்பத்தாரையும் எதுவும் கேட்காமல் ஆஸிர்வாதம் மட்டும் பண்ணினார்.

பக்தரும் குத்து மதிப்பாக பெரியவா இருந்த திசைக்கு நமஸ்காரம் பண்ணிவிட்டு, எதுவும் சொல்லாமல் வந்துவிட்டார். மறுநாள் கண்ணாடியுடன் டாக்டரை பார்க்கப் போனபோது கடைசி பொடி  எழுத்து வரை ஈஸியாக படித்துவிட்டார். டாக்டர் பத்ரிநாத்துக்கோ ஆச்சர்யம்!

“என்  மெடிக்கல் நாலெட்ஜை தாண்டி ஏதோ அதிஸயம் நடந்திருக்கு. ரெட்டினால நேத்திக்கு கசிஞ்சுண்டு இருந்த liquid இன்னிக்கு எப்டியோ ஒங்க ஸிஸ்டத்துக்குள்ள absorb ஆயிருக்கு” என்றார்.

“நேத்திக்கி பெரியவாளை தர்ஶனம் பண்ணினேன்….அவ்வளவுதான்!”

“என்னது? அவ்ளோவ்தானா! அதானே பாத்தேன்! மஹாவைத்யநாதன் ஒங்களுக்கு அனுக்ரஹம் பண்ணினதுக்கப்பறம் வேற யார் treatment குடுக்கணும்?…..” டாக்டர் பத்ரிநாத் பெரியவாளின் பரம பக்தராச்சே! 

அவ்வளவுதான்! பெரியவா என்ற தெய்வத்திடம் நாம் எதுவுமே சொல்லித்தான் ஆகவேண்டும் என்பதில்லை, என்ற பேருண்மையை  டெல்லி பக்தர் அன்றே அப்போதே ப்ரத்யக்ஷமாக உணர்ந்தார். ஆனாலும், நம் மனித மனம் ‘குரங்கு’ இல்லையா? பக்தருக்கும் ஒரு ஸந்தேஹம் வந்தது….. “கண் பார்வை வந்தது…ஒருவேளை ரொம்ப நாளானதால, automaticஆ, மங்கின பார்வை தானாவே  சரியாப் போய்டுத்தோ? இது இயற்கையா நடந்ததுதானோ?இதுல, நாமளா பெரியவாளோட கருணை…ன்னு, நடுவுல சொருகிட்டோமோ?” என்று அலைபாய்ந்தது.

‘கல்கி’ இதழில் அவருடைய கண் பார்வை கிடைத்த அனுபவம் வெளியாகியிருந்தது.  அதை படித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் ஸமயத்தில்தான் இந்த பாழாப் போன ஸந்தேஹம். இந்த எண்ணம் தோன்றியதோ இல்லையோ, மேலே எதையுமே படிக்க முடியாதபடி பார்வை மங்கிவிட்டது! 
“ஈஶ்வரா! என்னை மன்னிச்சுடுங்கோ!பெரியவா! ஸாக்ஷாத் சந்த்ரமௌலீஶ்வரனோட க்ருபையை ஸந்தேஹப்பட்டுட்டேனே! மஹாப்ரபோ! அடியேனோட பார்வையை பிச்சையா போடுங்கோ!” கண்ணீர் வழிய வாய் விட்டு அலறினார்.

அடுத்த க்ஷணம்…….இதோ…..மந்தஹாஸமான புன்னகையோடு தண்ட கமண்டலுவோடு  இவருடைய  அனுபவத்தோடு வெளிவந்த பெரியவாளின் ஜோதிப்  பிழம்பான திவ்யமங்கள ரூபம் இவர் கண்ணுக்கு தெரிய ஆரம்பித்தது.
