Message for the Day…” Light the Lamp of Spiritual Wisdom to understand the Reality of Life…”

Sathya Sai Baba

One cannot escape from disquiet as long as the fundamental ignorance persists; mere change of occupation, prompted by the desire for more comfort or the need for satisfying some passing likes will not give lasting satisfaction. It is like hoping to improve matters in a dark room by a mere readjustment of furniture. Instead if a lamp is lit, passage across the room is rendered easier even without readjusting furniture. There is no need to interfere with the furniture at all. So too, in this world, it is difficult to move about truthfully, correctly, and peacefully without knocking against some obstacle or other. How then are you to succeed? Light the lamp of spiritual wisdom (jnana)! Let it reveal the reality! That will solve all the difficulties. You may claim that you live according to dharma, but have you evaluated if your acts are done in a spirit of dedication to the Divine? If so, they will authentically be stamped as‘dharmic’.

” Thank You God…”

Today, I want to take a moment to say ‘Thanks Be to God’. Today, I want Him to know how grateful I am, for all that I have encountered in my life: the people that have given it more meaning, the opportunities that I have learned much from, the challenges that I have had to overcome, and for each new day that I awake, and am given the opportunity to live my life once again. Thank You God!

Message for the Day…” Adhere to the Law of Truth in Your every Act…”

Sathya Sai Baba

Why complain that the ground cannot be seen when all the while your gaze is fixed on the sky? Watch the ground and look at the sheet of water that reflects the sky —then you can see, at the same time, the sky above and the earth below. So too, to adhere to the law of truth (sathya-dharma), in your every act, you must see the reflection of the glory of the Divine (Atma);then this attachment to the Lord will transmute your attachment to the world into a pure offering. Adherence to the law of truth is in fact the practice of the immanent Atmic principle. The goal of purity should not be altered or lowered; the essentials should be kept intact. Righteousness (Dharma)does not depend on the various names and forms that its application entails; they are not so basic. Dharma depends more on the motives and the feelings that direct and channelise your every act.

Joke of the Day…” Power of Money…”

Power of Money!
5 years back when I went to temple, it was written : “Mobile Phones Prohibited”.
2 years back it was changed as : “Keep your mobile switched off”.
Last year it was changed as “Keep your mobile in Silent mode”.
Yesterday when I went, it is changed as:
“If you wish to take a Selfie with Lord/Idol, please pay Rs.50 at the Counter “

Message for the Day…” When ‘dharma’ becomes ‘pseudo- dharma’….”

Sathya Sai Baba

When the waves of egotist fear or greed drives one into the privacy of the home, the loneliness of the forest, or anywhere else, it is impossible to escape suffering. However in daily practice, when one’s acts are motivated by the basic principle of the reality of the Atma, every act becomes stamped with the seal of dharma (righteousness). On the other hand, when acts are motivated by convenience and selfish interest, the dharmabecomes pseudo-dharma. Why, even the feeling ‘he is a friend’ or ‘she is an enemy’ is an error. This delusion has to be given up. The Lord, the embodiment of love, is the only constant friend, relative, companion, guide, and protector. Know this and live in that knowledge. This is dharma built on the bedrock of understanding, this is life built on the bedrock of dharma.

Message For the Day…” Nothing is Permanent …Only ‘atma’ is Eternal and Immortal …”

Sathya Sai Baba

You are unnecessarily struggling and planning several schemes, thinking about them day and night. In spite of all your struggles, what has to go out of your hands will go. The body is like a water bubble. The mind is like a mad monkey. If you follow this mad monkey, you will get into trouble. In the same manner, if you believe in the body, you do not know when this body, which is like a water bubble, will burst. Nothing is permanent. Only the Atma (Self) is eternal and immortal. ‘I’, ‘Self’, ‘God’ are all different names by which the Atmaswarupa is called. God incarnated as Rama, Krishna, and the like, and underwent several difficulties to demonstrate great ideals. Finally, they too left the mortal coil. The physical bodies of the Avatars undergo changes, but the Divine Atma in their bodies remains the same. It is omnipresent, eternal and changeless. Divinity in all the human beings is one and the same.

When – Muslims Celebrate Eid Inside a Ganpati Pandal….

Mumbai witnessed a commendable scene during the celebration of Bakra-Eid a few days back. In a country that celebrates some very diverse festivals of different religions, all on the same day, there is one place in the city which brought them together in an admirable manner.

In a step taken by the Seva Sangh Ganeshotsav Mandal in Colaba this Friday, many Muslim devotees were seen performing their prayers inside a Ganpati pandal.

Initially, people were praying outside the Madrassa Rahamatiya Talimul Quran mosque, which is located right next to the Ganpati pandal. The prayers began at 7 am, but due to lack of space inside the mosque, many people could not get place. When members of the Seva Sangh Ganeshotsav Mandal saw this, they invited them to the pandal so they could pray in peace.

This committee, which organizes Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations every year, has always been very unique and inspiring for people in the region.

“During Ramzan four years ago, which coincided with the Ganesh festival, we had allowed Eid prayers inside the pandal. It may be that some people find this surprising, but it is entirely normal for us. Hindus and Muslims have always lived in unity here. There is no discrimination. Hindus too participate in Muslim festivities”, Seva Sangh member Santosh Nayak told DNA.

The treasurer of the committee, which has 70 members, is a 25-year-old Muslim man named Mehfooz Khan. And 30 other members in the committee are also Muslims. According to the members, around 1,300 people performed their prayers inside the pandal, and with steps like these, they want to spread a strong message of Hindu-Muslim unity.

Kudos to their spirit of unity in diversity!

Message for the Day…” All of us Will have to Leave this world Empty-Handed …”

Sathya Sai Baba

Though Alexander the Great conquered most parts of the world, he could not take with him even an iota of the property he won. He left the world with empty hands. To demonstrate this truth to the world, he instructed his ministers to take his dead body in a procession through the streets of his capital keeping both his hands in a raised position pointing the sky. When the ministers asked him the reason for this strange request, Emperor Alexander replied, “I conquered several countries, accumulated great wealth and controlled a vast army; yet, I am going back with empty hands – demonstrate this truth to everyone.” You may spend a lot of time struggling to acquire a lot of wealth. Yet, not even a handful of earth will come along when you leave the body. Hence at least now accept the fact that you are Divine, and strive to appreciate the same Divinity in everyone around you.

Message for the Day…” Cultivate Faith in Righteousness as the core of Your Personality…”

No other person can bind you; you do it yourself! You choose to become bound, straying away from the righteous (dharmic) path. If faith in God’s omnipresence is deep-rooted, you would become aware that He is within you and you will choose to be free. For that faith to grow, you must grasp the Divine (Atmic) bliss firmly. The reality of the Divinity (Atma) is the bedrock, that is the incontrovertible wisdom (nishchitha-jnana). Without that foundation, you will easily become the target of doubt, despair, and delusion. Therefore, first endeavour to be free. That is to say, as a prerequisite to successful living, cultivate faith in righteousness (dharma) as the core of your personality, and then learn and practise the discipline necessary to reach down to that core. When you acquire that qualification, you can engage fully in worldly activities, following the prescribed right conduct (dharma). Thus you transform yourself to be a moral individual (dharma-purusha).
