Message for the Day…” Light the Lamp of Spiritual Wisdom to understand the Reality of Life…”

Sathya Sai Baba

One cannot escape from disquiet as long as the fundamental ignorance persists; mere change of occupation, prompted by the desire for more comfort or the need for satisfying some passing likes will not give lasting satisfaction. It is like hoping to improve matters in a dark room by a mere readjustment of furniture. Instead if a lamp is lit, passage across the room is rendered easier even without readjusting furniture. There is no need to interfere with the furniture at all. So too, in this world, it is difficult to move about truthfully, correctly, and peacefully without knocking against some obstacle or other. How then are you to succeed? Light the lamp of spiritual wisdom (jnana)! Let it reveal the reality! That will solve all the difficulties. You may claim that you live according to dharma, but have you evaluated if your acts are done in a spirit of dedication to the Divine? If so, they will authentically be stamped as‘dharmic’.

” Thank You God…”

Today, I want to take a moment to say ‘Thanks Be to God’. Today, I want Him to know how grateful I am, for all that I have encountered in my life: the people that have given it more meaning, the opportunities that I have learned much from, the challenges that I have had to overcome, and for each new day that I awake, and am given the opportunity to live my life once again. Thank You God!

Thank You God

Message for the Day…” Adhere to the Law of Truth in Your every Act…”

Sathya Sai Baba

Why complain that the ground cannot be seen when all the while your gaze is fixed on the sky? Watch the ground and look at the sheet of water that reflects the sky —then you can see, at the same time, the sky above and the earth below. So too, to adhere to the law of truth (sathya-dharma), in your every act, you must see the reflection of the glory of the Divine (Atma);then this attachment to the Lord will transmute your attachment to the world into a pure offering. Adherence to the law of truth is in fact the practice of the immanent Atmic principle. The goal of purity should not be altered or lowered; the essentials should be kept intact. Righteousness (Dharma)does not depend on the various names and forms that its application entails; they are not so basic. Dharma depends more on the motives and the feelings that direct and channelise your every act.

This Ashram Left A Lasting Impression On The Minds Of Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs.

During the town hall meeting with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mark Zuckerberg revealed an interesting fact about him and Steve Jobs that made them successful.

Deeply influenced by the Indian spiritualism in the 70s, Steve Jobs, once a college drop-out used to visit Kainchi Dham Ashram, in Nainital, Uttarakhand.

Kainchi-Dham

It is believed that in the Ashram of Neeb Karori (often called Neem Karoli) Baba, Jobs got his enlightenment to build Apple.

Facebook, launched in 2004, had its fair share of dark days during the initial years. It was Steve Jobs, Zuckerberg went to during those hard times. Apparently, he followed most of Job’s advice when his company was going through a rough patch and it might have inspired him to turn into a visionary.

The Facebook CEO spent a month in India and spent two days in the Ashram which is a small temple complex on the banks of the Kosi, a river in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand.

This is what he revealed in front of Modi and the whole world:

“…he (Jobs) told me that in order to reconnect with what I believed as the mission of the company I should visit this temple that he had gone to in India early on in his evolution of thinking about what he wanted Apple and his vision of the future to be. So I went and I travelled for almost a month, and seeing people, seeing how people connected, and having the opportunity to feel how much better the world could be if everyone has a strong ability to connect reinforced for me the importance of what we were doing and that is something I’ve always remembered over the last 10 years as we’ve built Facebook.”

Though Neeb Karori Baba passed away in 1973, his followers include some well-known personalities, including Hollywood actress Julia Roberts and Larry Brilliant, former director of Google.org.

His ashram went on to transform two unknown faces into billionaires – Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg.

Amazing, isn’t it?

Message for the Day…” Speak only Truth which emerges from Your Heart …”

Sathya Sai Baba

Speaking truth is the foremost quality of a human being. In fact, truth must dance on your tongue. To speak untruth and talk irresponsibly does not behove a human being. If you indulge in useless and indiscriminate talk, how can it be called truth? Before you speak something, you must enquire whether it is truth or not. Speak only truth which emerges from the heart. The entire world has emerged from truth and everything merges into truth. The clouds moving in the sky sometimes obscure the Sun; once the clouds move away, the resplendent Sun is fully visible. Similarly it is only when the dark clouds of resolutions and confusions in our heart are cleared, truth manifests. The five human values are not independent of each other. They closely follow one another. These qualities are God’s gift to humanity. All human beings must manifest these five human values by practicing them.

At 94, This Man is Trying to Get Mangaluru's Traffic in Order

94-year-old Joe Gonsalves has been appointed Chief Traffic Warden for Mangaluru

October 1 is observed as World Elders Day – but for some, age is clearly just a number – and no reason to take the foot off the accelerator and apply the brakes. Meet Joe Gonsalves, a spry 94-year-old – and he plans to get the traffic of Mangaluru into some kind of order. He has volunteered to work with the traffic police in his home town to set up a Traffic Warden Squad.

“I have been driving for the last 75 years in Mangalore city. It was a pleasure to drive. I realised there is a radical difference in traffic from what I knew then and what it is today. Very often people tend to criticize what the traffic department is doing. But have we asked a question to ourselves, what are we doing about it? Pointing a finger at anyone is very easy but we should not be on fault-finding missions but on fact-finding missions. Then we will find an answer,” Mr Gonsalves told NDTV.

Mr Gonsalves has been appointed Chief Traffic Warden for the city after choosing to be the change he wanted to see.

AC Vinay, a corporator, is impressed. “This is an indication to youth and other citizens of Mangalore city to join with Gonsalves,” he said

“I am not working alone. I am working with the department coordinating their efforts at the same time providing them with manpower to the best of my ability. We directed our attention to colleges… We told students their role was not just to study and get degrees but to reach out to people. We told them the best way is to try and avoid road accidents and deaths. It is my turn to return something to Mangalore and the people of Mangalore,” Mr Gonzalves said.

The members of the new Traffic Warden Squad will have a marvelous example to follow. As will all of us.

Message for the Day…” When ‘dharma’ becomes ‘pseudo- dharma’….”

Sathya Sai Baba

When the waves of egotist fear or greed drives one into the privacy of the home, the loneliness of the forest, or anywhere else, it is impossible to escape suffering. However in daily practice, when one’s acts are motivated by the basic principle of the reality of the Atma, every act becomes stamped with the seal of dharma (righteousness). On the other hand, when acts are motivated by convenience and selfish interest, the dharmabecomes pseudo-dharma. Why, even the feeling ‘he is a friend’ or ‘she is an enemy’ is an error. This delusion has to be given up. The Lord, the embodiment of love, is the only constant friend, relative, companion, guide, and protector. Know this and live in that knowledge. This is dharma built on the bedrock of understanding, this is life built on the bedrock of dharma.
