பசி நீக்கிய ஹஜ் பணம்….
செருப்பு தைக்கும் தொழிலாளியான அப்துல் கறீம் பாக்தாத் நகரில் வாழ்ந்துவந்தார். ஹஜ் பயணம் செல்ல வேண்டும் என்பது அவரின் நெடு நாளைய விருப்பம். அதற்காக ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் தன்னுடைய உழைப்பிலிருந்து ஒரு சிறு தொகையை உண்டியலில் சேமித்துவந்தார். பல வருடங்களுக்குப் பிறகு ஹஜ் செல்வதற்கான தொகை சேமிப்பின் வழியாகத் திரண்டுவிட்டது. அந்த வருடம் ஹஜ் பயணக் குழுவினருடன் தாமும் சேர்ந்து புறப்பட அப்துல் கறீம் ஆயத்தமாகிவிட்டார்.
பயணம் புறப்படுவதற்கு ஒரு சில நாட்களே எஞ்சியிருந்த நிலையில் அவர் உற்சாகமாக இருந்தார். பயணத்துக்கான முன்னேற்பாடுகளைச் செய்துகொண்டிருந்தபோது, அவரது குட்டி மகன் அழுதுகொண்டே வந்தான். அழுகைக்கான காரணத்தைக் கேட்டார் அப்துல் கறீம். அதைக் கேட்டதும் அவருக்கு கோபம் வந்தது.
பாக்தாதில் அப்துல் கறீமின் இளமைக்கால நண்பர் வீட்டில் அவரது குடும்பத்தினர் கோழி சாப்பிட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தபோது அப்துல் கரீமின் மகன் அங்கே போய் தனக்கும் அந்த உணவு வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டிருக்கிறான். அப்துல் கறீமின் நண்பரோ கோழியைக் கொடுக்க மாட்டேன் என்று கூறி மறுத்துவிட்டார். அவமானம் தாங்காமல் சிறுவனும் தன் தந்தையிடம் அழுதுகொண்டே நடந்ததைச் சொல்ல அப்துல் கறீமிற்கு தன்மானம் பொங்கியது.
பரபரவெனத் தன் மகனின் கையைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு நேராக நண்பரின் வீட்டிற்கு மனக்கொந்தளிப்புடன் சென்றார். நண்பரைப் பார்த்து சூடாக இரண்டு சொல் கேட்டார் அப்துல் கறீம். அந்த நண்பரோ தன் கண்களில் கண்ணீர் பொங்க உண்மை நடப்பை விளக்கினார்.
“ நண்பா ! நானும் குடும்பத்தினரும் பல நாட்கள் பட்டினியாக இருந்தோம். உண்பதற்கு எதுவும் இல்லை. மனைவியும் குழந்தைகளும் பசி தாங்கவியலாமல் அரை மயக்கமாகி விட்டனர். யாரிடமும் கையேந்தவும் மனது இடம் கொடுக்கவில்லை. இச்சூழ்நிலையில்
மனம் நொந்து நான் கடை வீதியில் நடந்து சென்றுகொண்டிருந்தேன். அப்போது கோழிக்கடையிலிருந்து இறந்த கோழி ஒன்றை வெளியே எறிந்தனர். யாரும் கவனிக்காத நிலையில் நான் அதை அப்படியே வீட்டிற்கு கொண்டு வந்து விட்டேன். அதை சமைத்து சாப்பிட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கும்போதுதான் உன் மகன் வந்து உணவைக் கேட்டான். உயிரைத் தக்க வைத்துக்கொள்ள வேறு வழியில்லாத நிலையில் தானாகச் செத்த கோழியை உண்பது எனக்குக்கூடும்.
ஆனால் அதை எப்படி உன் மகனுக்கு நான் கொடுக்க முடியும் ? அதனால்தான் அவன் தப்பித்தவறிக்கூட அதை உண்டுவிடக் கூடாது என்பதற்காகவே உன் மகனிடம் நான் கடுமையாக நடந்துகொண்டேன்” என்றார். உற்ற நண்பனின் பசியைக்கூட அறிய முடியாத உணர்வற்றவனாக ஆகிவிட்டோம் என்று கதறிய அப்துல் கறீம் ஹஜ் பயணத்திற்காகத்
தான் சேமித்து வைத்திருந்த பணம் முழுவதையும் தனது நண்பனிடம் கொடுத்துவிட்டார். அந்தப் பண உதவி நண்பரின் குடும்பத்தினரின் பசியையும் வறுமையையும் நிரந்தரமாகத் துடைத்தெறிந்து விட்டது. நடந்த நிகழ்வுகள் அனைத்தும் நகரின் தலைமை முல்லாவை எட்டின. அவர் அந்த வார வெள்ளிக்கிழமை தொழுகை உரையில் மக்களைப் பார்த்து பின்வருமாறு கூறினார்.
“என் அருமை சகோதரர்களே!! சுவனத்திற்கு நுழைவதற்கு ஒரே வழிதான் உண்டு என யார் சொன்னது ? ஹஜ் பயணம் நமது பாவங்கள் அனைத்தையும் அழிக்கக்கூடியதுதான். நம்மோடு வாழும் சக மனிதனை பசியினால் அழிய விட்டு வேடிக்கை பார்ப்பதை அல்லா விரும்ப மாட்டார். அப்துல் கறீம் தனது ஹஜ் பயண வாய்ப்பை இழந்திருக்கலாம். ஆனால் அவர் செய்த கொடையின் பயனாக அவருக்கு எண்ணற்ற ஹஜ் வழிபாட்டின் நன்மைகளைக் கொடுப்பதற்கு இறைவனால் முடியும்தானே? அறத்தின் வழியில் நம்மைச் செயல்படத் தூண்டுவதுதான் வழிபாடுகளின் இறுதி இலக்காகும்.” எனக் கூறினார்.

இந்திய தேசிய நாட்காட்டியான சக ஆப்தக் கணக்கின்படி, ஆண்டின் முதல் மாதம் சித்திரை. தமிழ் நாட்காட்டியின்படியும் நாட்டின் பற்பல பகுதிகளில் அனுசரிக்கப்படும் சாந்த்ரமான முறை நாட்காட்டிகளின்படியும் ஆண்டின் முதல் மாதம் சித்திரை. வடமொழியிலும் வடமாநிலங்கள் பலவற்றிலும் சைத்ர என்றும், தெலுங்கில் சைத்ரமு என்றும் வங்காளியில் சொய்த்ரோ என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிற மாதமே தமிழில் சித்திரை என்று வழங்கப்படுகிறது.
சித்திரையும் புத்தாண்டும்
வசந்தம், ஒய்யார நடை நடக்கும் மாதமே சித்திரை மாதமாகும். இம்மாதத்தின் முதல் நாளே, வருடப்பிறப்பு நாளாக, குடி படுவா, ஸம்வத்ஸரோ பாடுவா, யுகாதி, விஷு என்னும் பெயர்களால் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. சாந்த்ரமான முறையில் (சந்திரனின் நகர்வுகளை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்ட முறை) பங்குனி மாத அமாவாசைக்கு அடுத்த நாளான பிரதமை திதியில் சித்திரை தொடங்குகிறது; இந்தப் பிரதமை நாள்தான், வருடப் பிறப்பு நாள் (படுவா=பிரதிபாத என்னும் சொல்லின் மருவு; பிரதிபாத=பிரதமை).
தமிழ் ஆண்டுமுறை, சௌரமான முறையை (சூரியனின் நகர்வுகளை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்ட முறை) அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டது. சூரியன் மேஷ ராசிக்குள் புகும் நாள்தான், இம்முறையின்படி புத்தாண்டு நாளாகும்.
மேஷ ராசிக்குள் சூரியன் புகுகின்ற நாளைப் புத்தாண்டு என்று தமிழர்கள் கொண்டாடுவதைப் போன்று, ‘பணா சங்கராந்தி’ என்று ஒரியர்களும், ‘மஹாவிஷுவ சங்கராந்தி’ என்று வடகிழக்குப் பிரதேசத்தவர்களும், ‘பைசாகி’ என்று பஞ்சாபியர்களும், ‘பிஹு’ என்று அஸ்ஸாமியர்களும், ‘பிஷு பர்பா’ என்று துளுவர்களும் கொண்டாடுகின்றனர்.
சைத்ர நவராத்திரியான வசந்த நவராத்திரி, ஸ்ரீ ராம நவமி, சரக பூஜை ஆகிய பண்டிகைகள் இம்மாதத்தில்தான் கொண்டாடப்படுகின்றன.

என்று சதுர்வர்க்க சிந்தாமணி என்னும் நூலின் ஸ்லோகம் ஒன்று கூறுகிறது. ‘பிரம்மாவானவர், சைத்ர மாதத்தின் சுக்ல பக்ஷ பிரதமை நாளில் பிரபஞ்சத்தை சிருஷ்டித்தார். கிரகங்களையும் நட்சத்திரங்களையும் பருவகாலங்களையும் ஆண்டுகளையும் ஆண்டுக்கான அதிபர்களையும் படைத்தார்’ என்பதே இந்த ஸ்லோகத்தின் பொருள். பிரம்ம சிருஷ்டி தொடங்கிய நாள் என்பதாலேயே, பெரும்பாலான நாட்காட்டிகள், இந்நாளை ஆண்டின் தொடக்கமாகக் கொள்கின்றன.
இயற்கையின் திருவிளையாடல்
மாசி-பங்குனி மாதங்களில், மரங்களிலிருந்து இலைகள் அதிகமாக உதிரும். ஆயின், சுக்ல பக்ஷ பிரதமை நாள் நெருங்கும்போதே, புதிய துளிர்கள் துளிர்த்து, மொட்டுகள் அரும்பி, வசந்தத்தின் வண்ண விளையாட்டு, தலைகாட்டத் தொடங்கிவிடும்.
சாந்த்ரமான யுகாதியைக் (சந்திர முறையின் ஆண்டுத் தொடக்கம்) கணக்கெடுத்தால், அன்று தொடங்கி ஒன்பது நாட்களுக்குக் கொண்டாடப் பெறும் முதல் விழா வசந்த நவராத்திரியாகும். துர்க்கையை வழிபடும் விழா. இளவேனில் காலத்து விளைச்சல் நன்கமையவேண்டுமென அம்பிகையை பிரார்த்திக்க வேண்டும்.
இதே வகையில், ஆண்டின் முதல் நாளில் தொடங்கி, ஏழு நாட்களுக்கு, நாளொன்றுக்கு ஒருவராக, ஸப்த ரிஷிகளையும் வழிபடவேண்டும். இதுவே சப்த ரிஷி விரதம். வசந்த நவராத்திரியின் நிறைவு நாள், ஸ்ரீ ராம நவமியாகும்.
கலப்பை நுனியில் கிட்டியவள் சீதை, அவளைச் சிறை மீட்கவே இராமர் இலங்கை மீது படையெடுத்தார் போன்ற இராமாயணச் செய்திகளை உற்று நோக்கினால், நிலமகளின் வளமை, அதனைக் கெடுப்பவர்களை அழிக்க ஆண்டவன் அவதாரம் செய்கிறார், அவர்கள் திருந்த யத்தனித்தால் மன்னிப்பு வழங்குகிறார், மேலும் மேலும் துன்பம் தந்தால் தண்டிக்கிறார் நிலத்தின் நலம் பேணும் வசந்த நவராத்திரியின் நிறைவில் ராம ஜனன நாளும் ராம பட்டாபிஷேக நாளும் அமைகின்றன.
சித்திரையும் ராமாயணமும்
ராமபிரானுடைய சரிதம், சித்திரை மாதத்தோடு நெருங்கிய தொடர்புடையது. ராமருடைய பிறப்பு, சித்திரையில் நிகழ்ந்ததாக வால்மீகி முனிவர் தெரிவிக்கிறார். ‘சித்திரை (சுத்த அல்லது சுக்ல) நவமித் திதியில் புனர்வசு நட்சத்திரம் ஏறுகதியிலிருக்க, ஐந்து கிரகங்கள் உச்சத்தில் நிலைக்க, பிரஹஸ்பதி குருவான வியாழனும் சந்திரனும் கர்கடக லக்னத்தில் உதயகதி பெற, பிரபஞ்சநாதனும் அனைத்து உலகங்களாலும் வணங்கபடுபவரும் அனைத்து தெய்விக அம்சங்களும் பொருந்தியவருமான ராமரைக் கோசலை பயந்தனள்’. இதன் பின்னர், பூசத்தில் பரதனும் ஆயில்யத்தில் பிற மகன்கள் இருவரும் பிறந்தனர்.
சித்திரை அவதரித்தோர்
மஹா விஷ்ணுவின் தசாவதாரங்களில், இரண்டு அவதரங்களுக்கு இடம்கொடுக்கும் பெருமை, சித்திரைக்கு உள்ளது. சைத்ர சுக்ல நவமி, ஸ்ரீ ராம ஜன்ம தினம் என்பது தெரியும். மற்றொரு அவதாரம்? முதல் அவதாரமான மத்ஸ்ய அவதாரம்! சைத்ர சுக்ல பஞ்சமியில், மீன் வடிவில் அவதாரம் எடுத்து, பிரளயத்திலிருந்து உலகை மீட்டு, உயிர்கள் மீண்டும் தோன்ற வழி செய்தார் பகவான்.
சித்திரையின் சீர்மிகு விழாக்கள்
திருக்கோயில்களின் விழாக்கள், மிகவும் கோலாகலமாக நடைபெறும் மாதமும் சித்திரையாகும். மதுரை மாநகரில் அருள்மிகு மீனாட்சியம்மன் ஆலயத்தில் நடைபெறும் சித்திரைத் திருவிழாவும், அதன் உள்நிகழ்வுகளான அம்பாள் பட்டாபிஷேகம், மீனாட்சி-சுந்தரேச்வரர் திருக்கல்யாணம் போன்றவையும் உலகப் பிரசித்தம். அழகர் மலை கள்ளழகருக்குச் சித்திரையில் பிரம்மோற்சவம். அழகர் உலா புறப்பட்டு, ஆற்றில் இறங்கி, அகிலத்தோர் எல்லோருக்கும் அருள்பாலிப்பார்.
ஆழித்தேருக்குப் பெயர்போன திருவாரூர் தேர்த் திருவிழா சித்திரை மாதத்தில் நடைபெறுவது வழக்கம் (சில பல காரணங்களால் இப்போது இது மாறக்கூடும்). சமயபுரம் மாரியம்மன் திருக்கோயில் தேரோட்டமும் இம்மாதத்தில்தான். பற்பல திருத்தலங்களில் தேரோட்டம் சித்திரையில் நடைபெறும். வைணவத் திருக்கோயில்கள் பலவற்றிலும், சித்திரை மாதம், விமரிசையான கொண்டாட்ட காலம். திருவில்லிப்புதூரில், பத்து நாள் விழா கண்டு, சித்திரா பவுர்ணமி நாளில் (அ)ரங்கமன்னாரோடு ஆண்டாள் நாச்சியார் தேரில் பவனி வருவாள்.
சித்திரா பவுர்ணமி நாளில், சிவபெருமானை வழிபடுவதும் வெகு சிறப்பு. மருக்கொழுந்து அபிஷேகம் செய்து, வெள்ளை வஸ்திரம் சாற்றி, சுத்தான்னம் (வெண் சாதம்) படைத்து வழிபட்டால், சகல ஐச்வரியங்களும் கிட்டும். திருநெல்வேலிப் பகுதிக்கே உரித்தான சித்திரா நதியில் நீராடி (அதுதான், நம்ம குற்றாலம் அருவியின் தோற்றுவாய் ஆறு) விரதமிருந்து திருக்குற்றால நாதரை வழிபடுவதும் விசேஷமானது.

Becoming a prey to peacelessness, you seek Divine through various means. What is the cause of your sorrow? Is it due to unfulfilled desire or the failure of your efforts? Are you miserable because you have not got various possessions, or failed to win a lottery? Lamenting over trifles, you are forgetting your divinity. These are not real troubles at all. The real cause of sorrow is attachment to the body, identifying oneself with the body. All sorrow arises from the feelings of ‘I’ and ‘Mine’. It is very essential to reduce deha-abhimaanam (attachment to the body). Desires are a source of pleasure, but they are also the cause of your grief. You must bring your mind under control. Even thousands of men cannot hold back a fast-moving train. But the train comes to a complete stop the moment brake is applied. The vagaries of your mind are just like that. When you control your mind, all sorrows will cease.
How IIT Grads Helped a Kanpur Mechanic’s Son to Get Into MIT….
n a house in Kanpur, calorie counting has been abandoned for a large box of mithai after Ayush Sharma, 17, discovered that he has been accepted at the world-famous Massachusetts’s Institute of Technology or MIT. A scholarship of a crore is part of the deal and covers his tuition expenses. For his living expenses, Ayush plans to launch a campaign on social media and hopes crowd-sourced funding will come to his rescue.
Ayush’s father is a mechanic. His mother retired as a constable of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force. The teen wants to someday help in reforming the education system in India. “I am one of the three people selected for MIT from India, so I am very happy,” he said.
His passion for Physics was matched by his aptitude. He was a topper at the Kendriya Vidyalay in Kanpur, and 2 years ago, he joined a coaching centre run by IIT graduates who work with students who can’t afford expensive tuition classes.
“I was introduced to idea of studying abroad at Avanti coaching centre. Mentors helped me in understanding the entire process,” he said. When he graduates, he will be the first member of his family with a college degree. He has a younger brother in Class 10.
In 2014, through the same coaching centre, Ayush travelled for a two-week summer course to Yale. He says one obstacle he had to overcome was speaking English. “It was one thing that no one could have taught me. There were not many people who I could speak with in English, so I would end up talking to myself. Little by little, I improved.”
“God has blessed us that our child will now study abroad,” said his proud mother, Manju Sharma.
Ayush will travel to the US to begin his college life in September.

The name Peanuts was based on Howdy Doody’s peanut gallery – an onstage audience of 40 kids. The peanut gallery referred to a nice lively crowd rather than the heckling crowd of the theater. The creator of the Charlie Brown comics, Charles M. Schulz, always disliked the name Peanuts.
