Fine of $1900 for Travelling in Train with a Wrong Ticket !!!

A PASSENGER on a Virgin train in the UK has been slapped with a whopping $1900 fine for purchasing the wrong ticket.

According to the Birmingham Mail, the man aged in his 40s was travelling from Birmingham to London with 38 friends and family members when he was caught out by inspectors.

The problem arose because the group had purchased a London Midland ticket — a slower, cheaper option than the fast but more expensive Virgin Trains service.

Ticket inspectors discovered the group as the train reached Coventry and gave them two options: Pay a total of $1460 to travel to the next stop of Watford, or pay $1900 to travel all the way to London Euston. The party chose to pay the full amount.

A fellow passenger told the Birmingham Mail that the moment was “heart stopping” and that the man looked “faint” when handed the bill.

“He looked a little faint and I’m not surprised really, I mean, it’s such a lot of money.

“The inspector was very matter of fact about it all and I understand he was doing his job — but it was an honest mistake,” he said.

A standard ticket from Birmingham New Street to London Euston on Virgin Trains usually costs between $37 and $150 for an adult, whereas a London Midland ticket costs between $11 and $128.

A spokesperson for Virgin Trains said the group could have saved more than $1000 if they had purchased the tickets in advance.

“Unfortunately, if passengers have booked to travel with another operator, their tickets are not valid on Virgin Trains’ services,” they said.

பக்தவத்சலம் பிறந்த நாள்: 09.10.1897

மிகவும் தவறாகப் புரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட தலைவர்களுள் பக்தவத்சலமும் ஒருவர்.

தமிழகத்தின் முன்னாள் முதல்வர் எம். பக்தவத்சலம் பிறந்தது புரட்டாசி உத்திரட்டாதியில். 90 ஆண்டுகள் வாழ்ந்தவரோடு இறுதி 13 ஆண்டுகள் எனக்குப் பழக்கமுண்டு. அது எனக்கு மீண்டும் ஒரு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் படித்தது போலாயிற்று. அன்றைய தலைவர்களோடு இன்றைய தலைவர்களை வைத்துப் பார்த்தால், பகல் சுருங்கி இரவு கவிந்ததாகத் தெரியும்.

பக்தவத்சலம் தமிழ், ஆங்கிலம் இரு மொழிகளிலுமே நல்ல புலமையையும் தத்துவத்தில் ஆழ்ந்த ஈடுபாட்டை யும் கொண்டிருந்தார். “எனது தமிழாசிரியர் உ. வே. சாமிநாத ஐயர். ஆங்கில ஆசிரியர் ஹென்றி ஸ்டோன். சர்வபள்ளி ராதாகிருஷ்ணன் எனது தர்க்கப் பேராசிரியர்” என்பார்.

மிகவும் தவறாகப் புரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்டவர்

முன்னாள் மத்திய அமைச்சர் ஓ.வி. அளகேசன் 1978-ல் பக்தவத்சலத்துக்குப் பிறந்த நாள் வாழ்த்துச் செய்தி ஒன்று அனுப்பியிருந்தார். அந்தச் செய்தியில், “பொதுவாழ்விலும் இருந்துகொண்டு தூய்மையாகவும் இருக்க முடியும் என்னும் உண்மையை வாழ்ந்து காட்டுபவர் பக்தவத்சலம்” என்று சொல்லியிருந்தார் அளகேசன்.

சென்னை ராஜாஜி மண்டபத்தில் 1987 மார்ச் 13-ம் நாள் பக்தவத்சலத்துக்கு நினைவுக் கூட்டம் நடந்தது. கூட்டத்தில் பேசும்போது, “மிகவும் தவறாகப் புரிந்து கொள்ளப்பட்ட மனிதர். ஆனால், விமர்சனம் அவரை வருத்தாது” என்றார் கேரளத்தின் முன்னாள் ஆளுநர் பா. ராமச்சந்திரன். பக்தவத்சலத்தின் ஒட்டுமொத்த அரசியல் வாழ்க்கையையும் சுருக்கமாகச் சொல்லிவிடக் கூடிய இரு குறிப்புகளாக இவற்றைச் சொல்லலாம்.

சட்டமன்றத்தில் எப்படி நடந்துகொள்வது என்பதற்கு பக்தவத்சலம்தான் இலக்கணம். எதிராளிகளின் மனம் புண்படாமல் தனது கருத்தைச் சொல்வதில் பக்தவத்சலம் வல்லவர் என்றும் சொல்வார்கள். கேள்வி களுக்குச் சட்டமன்றத்தில் ராஜாஜி பதில் சொல்ல இயலாத சூழ்நிலை ஏற்பட்டால், பதில் சொல்லும்படி தன்னைத்தான் அவர் தூண்டுவார் என்று சொல்லி, ராஜாஜி தன்மேல் வைத்த நம்பிக்கையைக் குறித்து பக்தவத்சலம் பெருமைப்பட்டுக்கொள்வார்.

அந்நாட்களில் பக்தவத்சலத்தின் பிறந்த நாளன்று காலையிலேயே வீட்டுக்கு வந்து, அவருக்கு நேரில் வாழ்த்து சொல்பவர்கள் பட்டியல் கட்சி எல்லைகளுக்கு அப்பாற்பட்டது. அந்தப் பட்டியலில் முக்கியமானவர் திமுக தலைவர் கருணாநிதி. அப்படி வருபவரை அங்கு கூடியிருக்கும் பக்தவத்சலத்தின் நண்பர்கள் சற்று நேரம் உரையாற்றச் சொல்லி அவர் பேசுவதை ஆர்வமாகக் கேட்பார்கள். சொந்த ஊரிலிருந்த தனது பூர்வீக வீட்டை ஒரு நூலகமாக மாற்ற கருணாநிதி முடிவெடுத்தபோது, அதைத் திறந்துவைக்க அவர் அழைத்ததும் பக்தவத் சலத்தைத்தான். பக்தவத்சலம் சந்தோஷமாகச் சென்று திறந்துவைத்தார். பக்தவத்சலத்தின் கடைசிக் காலத்தில், மதுரையில் கருணாநிதியின் பிறந்த நாள் விழாவுக்கு அழைத்தார் பி.டி.ராஜன். “இந்தத் தள்ளாத வயதில், உடல் நலமும் சரியில்லாத நிலையில், மதுரைக்குச் செல்ல வேண்டாம்” என்று எவ்வளவோ கூறினார்கள் பக்தவத்சலத்தின் உடனிருந்தோர். எதையும் பொருட்படுத்தாமல், இந்தி எதிர்ப்புப் போராட்டத்தின்போது தனக்குச் சிம்ம சொப்பனமாக இருந்தவரின் பிறந்த நாள் விழாவுக்கு காரிலேயே சென்று, விழாவில் உரையாற்றிவிட்டுத் திரும்பினார் பக்தவத்சலம்.

ஐந்து லட்சம் கொடுத்தால் கல்லூரி

ஐந்து லட்சம் கொடுத்தால் கொடுப்பவர் பெயரால் கல்லூரி ஆரம்பிக்கப்படும் என்று பக்தவத்சலம் காலத் தில் ஒரு திட்டம் இருந்தது. பெரியார் பார்த்தார், “இது நல்ல திட்டம். ஆனால், பணத்துக்கு நான் எங்கே போவேன்? திருச்சியில் எனக்கு இருக்கும் நிலத்தைத் தருகிறேன். ஒரு கல்லூரி தொடங்குங்கள்” என்று கொடுத்தார். அப்படிப் பிறந்த கல்லூரிதான் திருச்சி ஈ.வெ.ரா. அரசுக் கலைக் கல்லூரி.

தன்னிடம் வரும் எந்தக் கோப்பிலும், அதற்கான முடிவைத் தானே எடுத்து, குறிப்பு அனுப்புவது பக்தவத்சலத்தின் வழக்கம். “ஐரோப்பிய ஐ.சி.எஸ். அதிகாரிகள் நிறைய பேர் என்னிடம் பணியாற்றியிருக் கிறார்கள்; ஆனால், நான் ஒருபோதும் என்ன செய்யலாம் என்கிற முடிவை அவர்களிடம் கேட்டதில்லை” என்று பக்தவத்சலம் ஒருமுறை என்னிடம் கூறினார். கக்கனும் அப்படித்தான். “கக்கனிடமிருந்து ஏதேனும் வந்தால் நாங்கள் என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று தெளிவாகக் குறிப்பிட்டிருக்கும்; எங்களுக்குச் சங்கடம் ஏதும் இருக்காது” என்று முன்னாள் தலைமைச் செயலர் கார்த்திகேயன் சொல்வதுண்டு. ‘பரிசீலித்துப் பார்வைக்கு வைக்கவும்’ என்று மட்டுமே அமைச்சர்கள் குறித்து வைப்பதைத்தானே பின்னாட்களில் பார்க்கிறோம்?

பக்தி பழமைவாதியாக்கிவிடவில்லை

இறைப்பற்றாளர் பக்தவத்சலம். ஆனாலும், பக்தியை எங்கே நிறுத்திவைக்க வேண்டும் என்பதை நாம் அவரிடமிருந்து கற்றுக்கொள்ள வேண்டும். இந்திய அரசு கடுமையான பொருளாதார நெருக்கடியில் சிக்கிய நாட்களில், “கோயிலில் இருக்கும் தங்கக் குடங்களை நாட்டுக்குத் தரக் கூடாதா?” என்று கேட்டவர் அவர். கோயில்களுக்கு நிலச்சொத்து ஒத்துவராது. குத்தகை, பண்ணைச் சாகுபடியெல்லாம் பார்த்தாகிவிட்டது. பலனில்லை. காணி நிலத்துக்கு பாரதியார் ஏங்கவில்லையா? ஆண்டவனுக்கே நிவேதனம் என்ப தெல்லாம் அகம்பாவம். எனவே, நான்கு லட்சம் ஏக்கர் கோயில் நிலத்தை வைத்திருப்பவர்களிடமே விற்று முதலீடு செய்து, வட்டிப் பணத்தில் கோயில் களைப் பராமரிக்கலாம் என்பது 1976-ல் அவரது திட்டம். அதற்கு எழுந்த எதிர்ப்புக்கு, மயிலாப்பூர் அகாடமி கூட்டத்தில் பதில் சொன்னார், “நானேதான் நில உச்சவரம்புச் சட்டத்திலிருந்து கோயில்களுக்கு விலக்களித்தேன். நானேதான் கோயில்களுக்கு நிலச் சொத்து சரிவராது என்றும் சொல்கிறேன்.”

துணியின் இழைகளைப் பிரிக்கலாமா?

இந்திய ஓர்மையில் தளராத நம்பிக்கையுள்ளவர் பக்தவத்சலம். இனவழி அரசியலைக் குறிப்பிட்டு “வடக்கத்தியர் எல்லோரும் ஆரியர்களா? அல்லது பிராமணர்கள் அல்லாத எல்லோரும் திராவிடர்களா? இனங்களும் பண்பாடுகளும் மதங்களும் சாதி களும்கூட கலந்து, நெருக்கி நெய்த துணியாக இந்தியா உருவாகியுள்ளது. இதன் இழைகளைப் பிரித்துக் குலைக்க வேண்டாம்” என்றார். “புஷ்கரம், பிருந்தாவனத்தில் உள்ள கோயில்களும் வழிபாடும் காஞ்சிபுரத்தில் உள்ளதுபோல் இருக்கும். ராஜஸ்தானில் நம்மைப் போன்றே பொங்கல் கொண்டாடுவார்கள். முற்கால வரலாற்றில் இந்தப் பிரிவுகள் இருந்திருக்கலாம். பின்னர் எல்லாம் ஒன்றாகிப்போனதும் வரலாறுதானே?” இப்படியெல்லாம் இந்திய ஒற்றுமையை விளக்குவார்.

நான் தனியாக நின்றேன்

காங்கிரஸ் வழியிலான அவரது மொழிக் கொள்கை, 1965-ல் நடந்த இந்தி எதிர்ப்புப் போராட்டத்தை அவர் கையாண்ட விதம், இவை இரண்டையும் குறைகூறுவார்கள். 1965 முதலாகவே மாறிவந்த அரசியல் சூழலை பக்தவத்சலம் கவனமாகப் புரிந்து கொள்ளவில்லை என்றும் சொல்வார்கள். இந்த விமர் சனங்களுக்கு அவர் பதில் என்னவாக இருந்திருக்கும்?

1950 முதல் 15 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு இந்தியோடு ஆங்கிலமும் தொடர்வதை அரசியல் சாசனம் உறுதி செய்தது. அந்த ஏற்பாடு தற்போது காலவரையின்றி நீட்டிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. தமிழகத்திலேயே இருப்பவர்கள் இந்தியில் ஒரு அட்சரம்கூடக் கற்க வேண்டிய கட்டாயம் இல்லை. தமிழகத்தின் இருமொழிக் கொள்கை என்பது மூன்றாவதாக ஒரு மொழியையும் கற்கக் கூடாது என்பதல்ல. 1937-ல் நடந்ததைப் பார்த்திருந்ததால் இங்கே இந்திக்கு மாணவரிடையே ஒரு ஒவ்வாமை இருப்பது தெரிந்தது. எனவே, விரும்பினால் அந்த மொழியைக் கற்கலாம் என்பதாக மட்டுமே இருந்தது. எதற்கும் வழுக்கலாகப் பதில் சொல்லி அறியாத பக்தவத்சலத்தின் பதில் இதுவேதான்.

தன் கட்சிக்காரர்களே குறை சொல்வதைப் பற்றிக் கேட்டால், “இந்தி எதிர்ப்புப் போராட்டம் நடந்தபோது இவர்கள் என்ன செய்தார்கள்? சூழ்நிலையை நான் சந்திக்க வேண்டியிருந்தது. நான் தனியாக நின்றேன்” என்பார். சரியா, தவறா என்பதெல்லாம் வரலாற்றுப் பொருளாக விவாதிக்கப்படும். ஆனால், இவர் கட்சியைக் கைவிட மறுத்தார், கட்சி இவரைக் கை விட்டது என்றுதான் எனக்குத் தோன்றியது.

Chandigarh has emerged as the cleanest city in India as per a study conducted by the ministry of urban development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide ‘Clean India campaign’ or Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is very well received by the masses and celebrities alike.

Be it celebrities like actor Aamir Khan, BSF Jawans or the aam junta – most have joined hands to make this mission a success by 2019. However, according to data available with the Ministry of Urban Development, there are ten cities which are very clean and these are:

Chandigarh

State: Chandigarh

The city has emerged as the cleanest city in India as per a study conducted by the ministry of urban development.

In order to keep its ranking and reputation as the greenest and cleanest city in India, the administration of Chandigarh along with The Energy and Resources Institute to working towards environment-friendly including use of natural construction material and lower energy consumption.

Chandigarh is also on the way to become the country’s first solar city by 2016.

Mysore

State:Karnataka

In 2008, a citizen group in Mysore started a movement called Let’s do it! campaign to clean up not only the city but the entire country.

The response to this campaign has been huge. The youth in the city are spreading awareness on what each one of them can do individually and collectively to keep Mysore clean.

The diamond city of Gujarat follows high standard of cleanliness at public places. The civic authority in the city is very strict about cleanliness on roads and public places.

New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC)

State: Delhi

NDMC has intensified its cleaning operations after the launch of Swach Bharat campaign. Volunteers have even identified highly populated belts where they can spread their cleanliness drive.

NMDC is also keen to clean the backlanes of crowded colonies.

State: Delhi

Delhi is also considered a clean city due to the presence of various citizen forums that are actively involved in various cleanliness drives across the city.

Tiruchirappalli is a city with amazing tourist spots. The citizens surely know how to keep their city clean. Tourists who have visited the city will tell you about clean habits that each one in the city follows.

In Mangalore, the popular Nirmala Nagara Yojana is a very effective scheme to implement cleanliness in the city.

Volunteers of this scheme arranges for collection of garbage in a segregated manner from every household, the garbage so collected is later classified into different categories which can be used as a landfill material or used for making compost.

Rajkot is the fastest growing city in the country. The city’s civic body, resident forums are actively involved in keeping the city clean.

The city was not so clean few year ago, but currently, the city had made it to the list of clean cities in the country.

The credit for maintaining cleanliness goes to the local authorities and citizens who follow strict civic rules.

” Theo and Beau ….” !!!

This month marks my fifth year blogging and being actively involved in social media.

My intent and focus has always been the same: Telling our story through words and photos. Instagram is my youngest social platform, as I resisted following the craze for what felt to me like a long time. Interestingly enough, it’s because of my Instagram account that our lives changed overnight.

Social media has had a positive influence on my life in so many ways, beginning long before my photos of Theo and Beau went viral.

Three months after we moved to New York City, my 2-year-old landed us in the emergency room with a severe allergic reaction to pistachios. Without any family, friends or neighbors to call, my husband stayed home with our youngest while I literally ran my wheezing, hive-covered baby through the rain to the NYU ER. Over the seven hours that Jack and I spent in that sterile, packed little curtained-off corner while he received round after round of steroids and oxygen, I turned to Twitter and found that I wasn’t, in fact, alone. There was a community of mothers and fathers there to virtually hold my hand, sharing their experiences and advice with me. Mostly they assured me that it was OK to be scared, but that my baby would also be OK. That was the first time I realized that this community is so much more than a bunch of strangers behind computer screens — this is a lifeline. These are my friends.

This incredible group of socially conscious and connected peers would prove immeasurably valuable over the next five years, but never more so than when my instagram photos went viral last November.

We adopted Theo from the Santa Cruz SPCA in late November of last year. He was 7 weeks young when we brought him home with us, and I’m quite sure he was sharing the nerves and anticipation that we were feeling.

Theo found the most comfort in my son Beau, and they immediately bonded as buddies, partners in crime, and even as brothers. He began napping with Beau, who wasn’t quite 2, the day after he came to live with us. I shared my delight with my husband via text first, then on Instagram.

They napped together day after day, and after a few naps I realized this wasn’t going to change anytime soon — so I gave them their own hashtag, and wrote about their lovely little ritual on my blog. The Huffington Post published an article about them next day, and by that night I had a slew of new followers and a deluge of media requests. Realizing what was happening without really registering it consciously, I stayed up for two nights fielding requests and handling agent emails and talk show inquiries. The local news crews were on our doorstep that weekend, and we even went to San Francisco in the middle of the night to film Fox & Friends. Good Morning America set up shop in our living room one evening the following week, and we started appearing in print all over the world.

Everyone said that I had “hit the lottery” and told me to enjoy my five minutes of fame. I couldn’t connect with that whatsoever, because in the midst of all of that attention, my baby’s face was appearing all over the world and my anxiety was eating me alive. It was mostly positive, though of course with the rapid attention and millions of eyeballs came the naysayers and Internet grumps. I’ve dealt with my share of negativity from strangers on the Internet, but those instances pale in comparison to the hundreds of emails and thousands of supportive comments from people all over the world.

I’ve heard stories of love and loss and how the photos of Theo and Beau bring peace and reassurance and hope to all kinds of people in all different situations. Above all else, this has been the largest bounty. The amount of love we’ve received in many different forms and several different languages has left me forever humbled.

My commitment to using social media for good had also presented itself in the most obvious way: turning the attention to our local Santa Cruz SPCA. We’ve raised over $10,000 towards their goal of building a new facility, and with a portion of the proceeds from my book going toward it as well, I’m confident they’ll meet that goal. Philanthropy has always been my anchor, and it’s kept me grounded throughout this experience.

The past five months have been some of the most intense of my entire life. I’ve rapidly learned all about Internet property, copyright and trademarks, and more broadly, the infinite arms of the Internet — how vast that span is and yet how wildly unhinged it can be, too.

In my most frantic and dire moments of stress, my online community was there for me again. Far from the emergency room, yet feeling stranded all the same, I received unsolicited emails and notes of advice and support from some of the most successful and knowledgeable pioneers in this business: women and men whom I am hugely proud to call my friends. I battened down the hatches by hiring a team of heroes: lawyers, agents, publicists, a rock star to handle my sponsorship opportunities, and even a babysitter and a house cleaner. What was once a loosely run online lifestyle journal is now a full-time commitment, and I still get to be at home with my kids fulfilling my number one goal and priority of raising my children.

This means that I’m taking conference calls at the playgrounds, Little League games, and even my obstetrician’s waiting room. I may be enjoying far fewer morning trips to the beach than originally planned upon our move to Santa Cruz, but I’m earning a living of my own and am able to help support my family as well as climb the ladder of dental school debt.

I’m incredibly proud to announce that Naptime with Theo and Beau is now available for pre-order. I am also incredibly thrilled to release the very first video that I’ve been working on with Anna Mayer, which was shot soon after we brought Theo home. It’s been a wonderful journey, and it’s apparent that our story is only beginning.

Australian scientists believe a seed from a rainforest plant could hold the key to curing cancer.

Researchers say initial tests of the Blushwood tree has found is was effective 70 per cent of the time.

An experimental drug based on the seed was even found to be effective in treating pets with cancer.

Scientists at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute found a single injection of the drug EBC-46 led to rapid breakdown of tumours in a range of human tumour models.

The study, published in the journal PLOS One, was led by Dr Glen Boyle.

He says the findings suggest the drug could be effective in human patients.

‘We were able to achieve very strong results injecting EBC-46 directly into melanoma models, as well as cancers of the head, neck and colon,’ Dr Boyle said.

‘In most cases the single injection treatment caused the loss of viability of cancer cells within four hours, and ultimately destroyed the tumours.’

Dr Boyle says EBC-46 works in part by triggering a cellular response which effectively cuts off the blood supply to the tumour.

‘In more than 70 per cent of pre-clinical cases, the response and cure was long-term and enduring, with very little relapse over a period of 12 months.’

EBC-46 is a compound extracted from the fruit of the Blushwood tree which is found in north Queensland rainforests.

EBC-46 was discovered by the Queensland biotechnology company EcoBiotics.

The drug is being developed as a human and veterinary pharmaceutical through EcoBiotics’ subsidiary company QBiotics.

The experimental drug has been used by practising veterinarians to successfully destroy or shrink tumours in pets – including dogs, cats and horses.

QBiotics is currently undertaking formal veterinary clinical trials with EBC-46 in Australia and the USA.

A final regulatory approval is still required for a human Phase I clinical trial.

Dr Boyle says QIMR Berghofer is keen to pursue further research to determine if EBC-46 could be made more effective.

‘We must stress at this point that EBC-46 will only be trialled in the short-term for tumours which can be accessed by direct injection or topical application,’ Dr Boyle said.

‘There is no evidence to suggest EBC-46 would be effective against metastatic cancers.’

The pre-clinical trials at QIMR Berghofer have been largely funded by QBiotics with additional support from the NHMRC.

ஒன்று என்பது ஏன் ஒரு கோடு போட்டது போல ஒரு வடிவத்தில் இருக்கிறது? அது ஏன் வேறு வடிவத்தில் இருந்திருக்க கூடாது?

இப்படி எல்லாம் குண்டக்க மண்டக்க கேள்வி கேட்கக் கூடாது என்கிறீர்களா?

எண்கள் இல்லா காலம்

பல்லாயிரக்கணக்கான வருடங்களுக்கு முன்னால் வாழ்ந்த மனிதர்களுக்கு ஒண்ணு, ரெண்டு, மூணு என எண்ண வேண்டிய தேவை ஏற்படவில்லை. சாப்பிட என்ன கிடைக்கும் என அலைவதே அவர்களுக்கு முழுநாள் வேலை.

வயிற்றுக்குப் போதுமானதாக இல்லாமல் இருந்தாலும் கிடைத்ததைச் சாப்பிட்டு, வாழ்ந்த காலம். அந்த காலம் வரைக்கும் மனிதர்களுக்கு எண்கள் தேவைப்படவில்லை. தேவைக்கும் மேலாக மிஞ்சிப்போனால்தான் கூடுதலாக இருப்பதை எண்ணிப் பார்க்க வேண்டும்? அதற்கான அவசியம் அவர்களுக்கு ஏற்பட்டதாகத் தெரியவில்லை. ஆனால், காலம் மெல்ல மாறியது.

கால்நடைகளை வளர்த்து தங்கள் பிடியில் வைத்துக்கொண்டால் அவற்றால் கிடைக்கும் பொருள்களைச் சேமித்து வைத்திருந்து சாப்பிடலாம் என மனிதர்கள் தெரிந்துகொள்ள ஆரம்பித்தனர். சேர்த்து வைத்துள்ள கால்நடைகளை எண்ணிப் பார்க்க வேண்டிய நெருக்கடி வந்தது.

எண்களின் பிரசவம்

அப்போது மனிதர்களின் மூளையிலிருந்து எண்கள் பிரசவமாக வேண்டிய அவசியம் ஏற்பட்டது. மனிதரின் மூளையிலிருந்து கைவிரல்கள் வழியாக எண்கள் பிரசவமாகின.

கைவிரல்களைப் பயன் படுத்தித்தான் மனிதர்கள் ஒன்று, இரண்டு, மூன்று என எண்ணிப் பார்க்க தொடங்கி னார்கள்.

அதனால்தான் ஒன்று என்பது ஒரு விரலின் வடிவத்தில் இருக்கிறது.

குண்டக்க மண்டக்க கேட்கிற கேள்விகளுக்கு உள்ளேதான் விஞ்ஞானம் இருக்கிறது.

எழுதப் படிக்கத் தெரியாத பால்காரம்மாக்கள் இன்னமும் கூடப் பால்கணக்கைச் சுவரில் ஒத்தை ஒத்தை விரல்கள் மாதிரி கோடு கோடாகக் கீறி வைத்து கணக்கிட்டுப் பிறகு மொத்தமாகக் கூட்டிக் கணக்கு பார்ப்பதை நாம் பார்த்திருக்கலாம்.

பத்துக்களின் ஆரம்பம்

கையில் உள்ள பத்து விரல்கள்தான் உலகின் முதல் கால்குலேட்டர். பத்து வரைக்கும் எண்ணிப் பார்த்த பிறகு அடுத்து என்ன செய்யலாம் என முட்டிக்கொண்டு எண்கள் நின்றன.

ஆரம்ப எண்களைப் பிறந்த குழந்தையாக நினைத்துக் கொண்டால் 10- களின் ஆரம்பத்தை எண்களின் தவழும் காலகட்டமாக வைத்துக்கொள்ளலாம்.

பத்து விரல்களையும் எண்ணி முடித்த பிறகு ஒரு பத்துக்கு ஒரு கூழாங்கல் எனக் கற்களை வைத்து பழங்கால மனிதர்கள் கணக்கை அடுத்த கட்டத்துக்கு நகர்த்தினர். முதல் பத்து, இரண்டாவது பத்து, என எண்ணி எண்ணி பத்து பத்துக்கு நூறு எனப் பெயர் வைத்து எண்கள் மேலும் வளர்ச்சி அடைந்தன.

இன்னமும்..

ஆங்கிலத்தின் கால வழக்கில் ஒரு பத்தாண்டு என்று பேசப்படுவதை கவனியுங்கள். என்ன காரணத்தாலோ இந்திய கால வழக்கில் ஒரு பத்தாண்டு எனும் முறை ஆங்கில கால வழக்கு அளவுக்கு அவ்வளவு ஆதிக்கமாக இல்லை. ஆனால் பத்து பத்தாகக் கூட்டும் முறை இன்னமும் நவீன கார்கள் உள்ளிட்ட எல்லா தானியங்கி வாகனங்களிலும் தொடர்வதைப் பாருங்கள்.

அபாகஸ்

ஒரு பத்துக்கு ஒரு கல் என்று எடுத்து வைத்த முறைதான் ஒரு மரச்சட்டத்தில் கற்களுக்குப் பதிலாக மணிகளைக் கோத்து அவற்றைக் கொண்டு கணக்கிடும் அபாகஸ் மணிச்சட்டக் கருவியாக வளர்ந்தது.

ஒன்று எனும் எண்ணுக்கும் முன்பாகவும் பின்பாகவும் பல எண்களைக் கொண்ட பெரும் பிரபஞ்சமாய் கணிதம் வளர்வதற்கான மையமாக ஒன்று எனும் எண் நிற்கிறது. அதனைப் பெற்றெடுத்த விரலை நினைவுபடுத்தும் விதமாகவே ஒன்று விரலின் வடிவத்தில் இருக்கிறது.

India’s maiden spacecraft to Mars—Mangalyaan—has send another image of the Red Planet, captured by the camera on board.

“Another full disc image of Mars, taken by the Mars Color Camera, from an altitude of 66,543 km. Dark region towards south of the cloud formation is Elysium – the second largest volcanic province on Mars,” the facebook page of Isro Mars Orbiter said on Tuesday.

The spacecraft had beamed its first photos of Mars’ crater-marked surface a day after India successfully put the probe into the red planet’s orbit.

Just after that Isro had uploaded the regional dust storm activities over northern hemisphere of Mars – captured by Mars Color Camera.The image was taken from an altitude of 74500 km from the surface of Mars.

India joined an exclusive global club of deep space explorers on September 24 when the indigenously-made spacecraft successfully slipped into the orbit around Mars after a 10-month journey on a relatively shoe-string budget.

Duryodhana symbolises one who has wicked thoughts. His minister was Dushasana. Dushasana represents one who promulgates bad laws. The combination of these two led to the growth of greed. On account of unrestricted growth of greed (lobha), Kauravas were totally destroyed. On another occasion Lord Krishna said, Arjuna means a person whose heart is pure and immaculate. Lord Krishna clarified to Arjuna in the battlefield, “Destiny is all powerful. Justice always wins. Selfishness will end in ruin. This is the law of the Universe (Yuga Dharma). He further explained to Arjuna that greed of Kauravas will cause them ruin.” Kauravas were not prepared to give their rightful share to the Pandavas. They wanted to keep everything to themselves, including what belongs to others. This selfishness is called greed
