Seagull Steals Tourist's Camera. Ends Up Capturing Stunning Footage

A tourist holidaying in Spain’s Cies islands got more than he bargained for when a seagull seagull made off with his camera and captured, literally, a bird’s eye view of the coastline.

Now whether the bird wanted to hop onto the selfie bandwagon or just wanted to help the tourists with some incredible footage, its actions have created quite a stir online.

The tourist, YouTube user Martin Lozano, shared a video to tell the world what really transpired between the bird and the GoPro. The video shows the camera lying unattended on a parapet, recording the seagull a few paces away. Seconds later, the bird, sensing its opportunity, steals the camera and flies off with it.

It’s during this flight that it captures some scenic beauty with the still-recording camera.
The bird does its job and eventually returns the camera to its rightful owner and flies off. “You’re welcome, human,” it must have been thinking.

The human, in turn, does his job. He uploaded the video on YouTube for the rest of the world to enjoy. So enjoy you must:

How a Differently Abled Student's Letter to Nike is Now Changing Many Lives

A 16 year old cerebral palsy had a very simple request. He was going to college soon and wouldn’t have his parents there to tie his shoelaces for him. So he wrote a letter to one of the biggest shoe brands in the world and put it up on social media.

And it was Matthew Walzer’s 2012 letter to Mark Parker, Chief Executive Officer of Nike, that resulted in an invention that will help millions of differently abled people in the world.

“I wanted to say look, this is a real issue; these are daily challenges that millions of disabled people face,” says Matthew Walzer in a video released by Nike. It explains how designer Tobie Hatfield and the company came up with the idea of a “wraparound zipper system” that makes getting in and out of shoes much easier for those who face difficulty while using their hands.

“I’ll never forget that night. Taking them out of the box and putting them on – I just felt this wave of independence that I never got to experience before,” says Matthew.

The video makes for a beautiful watch, not only because of the shoes they present to Matthew. They also surprise him by introducing him to one of his favourite sportstars.

A Crocodile on a Morning Walk in the Beach of Goa …!!!

Go. Goa. Crocodile spotted. Gone.

Yes, you heard it right.

Tourists visiting the lively Goan beach of Morjim were taken aback when they spotted a full grown crocodile on the beach early morning.

The beach also known as ‘Little Russia’ because of the Russians, is around 30 km from Panaji and is one of the most sought after beaches of Goa.

The presence of the full grown crocodile came to light when a set of photos of the crocodile crawling on the beach and heading into the sea was caught on camera by Nilesh Bagkar, a Morjim resident.

The four images soon went viral over the internet.

DNF Carvalho, Deputy Conservator of Forests, confirmed that the crocodile has not come from the sea, but from Chapora river, which is heading towards the Morjim sea.

Although Goa forest department is still investigating the matter, but a repetition of such an event may hamper Goa Tourism to a great extent.

After all, who wants to see a crocodile on a beach? That too of Goa? 😛

For 200 years now, Mushtaba’s family has been making rumani semiya, an Eid special. Here’s what goes into it

In a tiny flat in the bowels of Royapettah, Mushtaba’s family is carrying out a 200-year-old tradition. Seated on the floor, she kneads the maida dough, calling out instructions to her husband Barkath Ali. She has been waiting all year for the month of Ramzan. This is her chance to earn and contribute to the family. Every year, hundreds of Muslim women in Triplicane and Royapettah, start preparing the rumani semiya weeks ahead of Ramzan. The vermicelli will be sold by their husbands and sons and sometimes, by themselves, in the streets of Triplicane.

Making the rumani semiya is a back-breaking task and yet, families look forward to it. “It’s been the same routine as long as I can remember,” says Mushtaba, punching a medium-sized ball of dough. “I would knead three to five kilograms of maida with water and salt the previous night and wake up early in the morning to prepare the semiya.”

The fine vermicelli is made entirely by hand. It’s a fascinating process. Mushtaba pinches bits of dough from a clump in her hand, sticks it back and repeats till the mass is almost elastic. She then pulls it apart, holding the length with both hands, folding it in and out, in and out, till she achieves 12 uniform strips. She entwines them and pulls it like a rubber band — in less than 30 seconds, following a series of elastic tugs, the fine, hair-thin vermicelli emerge, which she drapes on a wooden rod that her husband hangs out to dry under a fan. In a few minutes, he rolls it on his palm and places it on a cot to dry further. The vermicelli can be made with rava as well, but even the most experienced makers of rumani semiya tend to falter if rava is mixed to the dough.

“It’s a lot of work,” sighs Mushtaba. “I sometimes count the days for Eid so I can rest, although I enjoy doing this.” There are certain unwritten rules when it comes to the making of the rumani semiya. “The dough should never change hands,” warns Mushtaba. “I remember my mother would never let me touch it when I was a little girl,” she explains. “She would say that every hand lent a unique touch to the dough and that it should never be disturbed. I would take a blob of dough and lock myself in a room and practise,” she laughs. The consistency of the dough is everything, so is the temperament of the person handling it. “If one is angry, for instance, and sits to make it, the semiya will never come out well. I’ve thrown sway several kilos of dough when they didn’t cooperate,” she observes.

During the last week of Ramzan, thousands of rumani semiya circles are sold in Triplicane; a kilogram is priced at Rs.180 to 250, depending on the size and density of the vermicelli.

“We mostly sell out every year,” says Barkath, who puts his tyres business on hold to help his wife’s vermicelli venture every year. He knows that she has a gift, which, however, has not been passed on to his daughter Heena. “I’ve just come to watch,” shrugs the 28-year-old and adds, “There’s no way I can do what mother does.” Mushtaba chuckles: “This one doesn’t have the patience.”

Mushtaba earns around Rs.20,000 every year from the business. “I use it to buy something for the kids for Ramzan,” she smiles. “Shoes, clothes… It feels nice to buy whatever they ask for.”

The vermicelli goes into making the sheer khurma, which is used to break the fast on Eid. Mushtaba recalls the recipe. “We deep fry the semiya in ghee or dalda and set aside. It’s added to a pan of milk, that’s simmered with sugar and khoa. A mix of crushed nuts such as cashews and pista is added to the dish,” she explains. “It’s delicious; makes all the hard work worth it.”

பறித்ததா, கொறித்ததா?’ என்று பெரியவர் கேட்ட கேள்வியில் இலக்கிய நயம் மட்டுமில்லை. இதயத்தின் நயமும் இருந்தது என்பது போகப்போக விளங்கத் தொடங்கியது. கடலையை முறத்தில் வைத்து எடுத்து வந்த அந்த நபர், பெரியவர் முன் திணறியபடி நின்றார். பின் அந்த கடலையை வயலில் உள்ள எலி வளைகளில் இருந்து எடுத்து வந்ததை மிகுந்த பயத்துடன் கூறினார்.

பெரியவர் முகத்தில் மெல்லிய சலனம்.

ஒரு துறவிக்கு ஆசையே கூடாது. அது அற்ப கடலைப்பயிர் மீதுதான் என்றாலும், அதிலும் சில சமயங்களில் இது போல சோதனைகள் ஏற்பட்டு விடுகின்றன.

எலி ஒரு பிராணி! வளைகளில் கடலைகளை சேமித்து வைத்துக் கொண்டு, அறுவடைக்குப் பிறகான நாட்களில், அது அதைச் சாப்பிட்டே உயிர் வாழ்ந்தாக வேண்டும். வயலுக்கு சொந்தக்காரனுக்கு வேண்டுமானால், அது எலியுடைய கள்ளத்தனமாக இருக்கலாம். அதற்காக எலிகளுக்கு பாஷாணம் வைத்து கொல்லவும் முற்படலாம். ஆனால், அன்பே வடிவான துறவி, எலியை ஒரு கள்ளப் பிராணியாகவா கருதுவார்? அதிலும், எலி எனப்படுவது கணபதியாகிய பிள்ளையாரின் வாகனம். அவரை வணங்கும்போது, நம் வணக்கம் எலிக்கும் சேர்த்துத்தான் செல்கிறது. இப்படி, வணங்கவேண்டிய ஒரு ஜீவனின் சேமிப்பில் இருந்து எடுத்து வந்திருந்த கடலையை பெரியவரால் சாப்பிட முடியவில்லை. மாறாக அந்த மனிதரிடம்,இதை எந்த வளையில் இருந்து எடுத்துண்டு வந்தீங்க? அந்த இடம் ஞாபகம் இருக்கா?” என்றுதான் கேட்டார். அவரும் ஆமோதித்தார். அடுத்த சில நிமிடங்களில், ஒரு முறத்தில் அந்த கடலையோடும் இன்னொரு முறத்தில் வெல்லப் பொரியோடும் அந்த இடத்துக்கு பெரியவரே போய் நின்றதுதான் ஆச்சரியம்.

வளை துவாரத்துக்கு முன்னாலே, அங்கிருந்து எடுத்ததோடு கொண்டு வந்திருந்த வெல்லப்பொரியையும் வைத்து விட்டு, மன உருக்கமுடன் அவர் பிரார்த்தனை செய்யவும், உள்ளிருக்கும் எலிகள் வெளியே தைரியமாய் வந்து, பெரியவர் படைத்த விருந்தை அனுபவிக்கத் தொடங்கின!

சூழ்ந்து நின்ற நிலையில் பார்த்த வர்களுக்கெல்லாம் ஒரே பரவசம். மெய்சிலிர்ப்பு!

‘மனிதனுக்கு அன்பும் கருணையும்தான் பிரதானம். துறவிக்கோ அது கட்டாயம் – அது இருந்துவிட்டால் ஓருயிர்க்குக் கூட அது புரியும்’ என்கிற செய்தியை, அன்றைய சம்பவம் சொல்லாமல் சொல்லி விட்டதே!

இந்தச் சம்பவத்தை கேள்விப்பட்ட நான், இதை ஒரு மிஸ்ட்ரியாக கருதுவதா, இல்லை மிக சகஜமான ஹிஸ்டரியாக எடுத்துக் கொள்வதா என்பதில் சற்று குழம்பிப் போனேன்.

பெரியவரைத் தவிர, எவராலும் இப்படி ஒரு அதிசயத்தை நிகழ்த்த முடியாது என்றும் நம்பினேன். இப்படி ஒரு கருணையை ஒரு தெரு நாயிடமும் அவர் காட்டிய சம்பவம் ஒன்றையும், இதைத் தொடர்ந்து நான் அறிய நேரிட்டது.

துறவிகள் வருடத்துக்கு ஒருமுறை, ஒரு நான்கு மாத காலம் சாதுர்மாஸ்ய விரதம் எனும் விரதத்தை அனுஷ்டிப்பதுண்டு. என்னதான் அது பொன்னாகவே இருந்தாலும், அதை துலக்கத் துலக்கத் தான் அதன் பிரகாசம் அதிகரிக்கும்.

துறவிகள் விஷயத்தில் இப்படிப்பட்ட விரதங்களும் அப்படித்தான்! மகா பெரியவரும் ஒரு கிராமத்தில் தங்கி, இந்த விரதத்தை மேற்கொண்டார்கள். இதனால் தவசிவமானது அந்த கிராமத்தைச் சுற்றிலும் பரவிடும். அதன் விளைவுகளை காலத்தால்தான் நாம் உணர முடியும்.

எவ்வளவோ பெரிய அறிஞர்களும், ஞானிகளும் மின் விளக்குக்குக்கூட விதியில்லாத கிராமப்புறங்களில்தான் பிறந்து வளர்ந்திருக்கிறார்கள். அவர்களின் பிறப்புக்கு பின்னாலே, துறவியர்கள் மேற்கொள்ளும் இப்படிப்பட்ட தவசிவங்கள் பெரிதும் காரணங்களாய் உள்ளன.

பெரியவர் அந்த கிராமத்தில் விரத மிருந்த சமயம், தினப்படி பூஜைகள் மற்றும் சம்பிரதாய சடங்குகளும் குறைவின்றி நடந்தன. முடிவில் மடத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களுக்கும் அன்று பங்கேற்றவர்களுக்கும் மடத்திலேயே போஜனம் அளிக்கப்படும். அதை பிரசாதமாக கருதி உண்பது சான்றோர் வழக்கம்.

ஊருக்குப் பொதுவான தர்மத்தால் வந்த அன்னம் அது. மந்திரம் சேர்ந்து சாப்பிடக் கிடைப்பது ஒரு விசேஷம். அதைச் சாப்பிடப் போய், ஒரு துளி ரத்தம் அதனால் நமக்குள் பெருகினாலும் அது போதும். உடம்பால் இன்றைய வாழ்க்கை முறையில் நமக்கு ஏற்படும் தோஷங்கள் அடிபட்டுப் போய்விடும்.

இந்த அன்னத்துக்காக ஒரு தெருநாய் கூட தவமிருந்ததுதான் விந்தை! தினமும் மதியம் எல்லோரும் சாப்பிட்ட உடன், எடுத்து எறியப்படும் எச்சில் இலைகளைத் தேடிச் சென்று, அந்த நாய் சாப்பிடத் தொடங்கிவிடும். இலையைப் போடச் செல்லும்போதே பாய்ந்துவரும். குலைக்கும். அதன் பசி அதற்கு!

இந்த சப்தம் தினமும் பெரியவர் காதிலும் விழுந்தது. அதன் பசிக்குரல், அவர் மனத்தை உருக்கிவிட்டதாம். அப்போது, ஒரு தையல் இலையில் அவர் சாப்பிட ஒரு கைப்பிடி அவலோ, இல்லை உப்பில்லாத தயிரன்னமோ அவருக்கும் அளிக்கப்படுவது வழக்கம். தனக்கு தரப்பட்ட அந்த இலைப் பிரசாதத்தை, அப்படியே குலைக்கும் நாய்க்கு வைக்கச் சொல்லிவிட்டார் பெரியவர். அதற்கும் சோறு வைக்கச் சொல்லாமல், தன் சோற்றையே அவர் தரச் சொன்னதன் பின்னே, பல நுட்பமான விஷயங்கள் ஒளிந்துள்ளன.

நாயின் குலைப்பு பசி உணர்வை பெரியவருக்கு உணர்த்துகிறது. இதை வெல்வது கடினம். இந்த பாழாப்போன பசி, எச்சில் இலை என்றுகூட பார்க்காமல் நாயைத் தூண்டுகிறது.

இதுதான் மனிதர்களையும் ஆட்டிப் படைக்கிறது. இதனால்தான் பட்டுக்கோட்டை கல்யாணசுந்தரம் போன்ற பொதுவுடைமைச் சிந்தனையாளர்கள், ‘ஒரு சாண் வயிறே இல்லாட்டா – இந்த உலகத்தில் ஏது கலாட்டா?’ என்று பாடவும் காரணமாகிறது.

இதை வெற்றி கொள்ளாமல், துறவை வெற்றி கொள்வதும் கடினம் என்பதுதான், அவர் உணர்ந்த, உணர்த்த விரும்பிய உண்மை.

பெரியவர், தன் இலையையே தரவும், ஆடிப்போன மடத்து ஊழியர்கள், அதன்பின் நாய்க்கு முதலில் உணவு வைத்துவிட்டு, பிறகுதான் போஜனத்தை தொடங்கினர்.

அதன்பின், பெரியவர் முன் இலை வைக்கும்போது நாய் குலைக்கவில்லை. அந்த ஒரு நாயின் பசிக்கு வழி செய்தாகி விட்டது. ஆனால், உலகத்தில் கோடி கோடி உயிர்கள்… ஒரு உயிரும் உணவில்லை என்று வருந்தக்கூடாதே…?

Police and law-makers can defeat only external foes; they have no power to destroy internal enemies. They will find the task impossible, for they are not the authorities for that. The internal foes, six enemies(arishadvarga) that operate within a person, can be uprooted only with the teachings of great saints, love for God, and the company of the noble and holy. The world suffers harm at the hands of wicked people when the law-makers responsible for apprehending thieves themselves become entangled with them. Equally, the world becomes enveloped in darker ignorance when righteousness (dharma) is destroyed and those contemplating on the Brahman incessantly and the ‘great’ spiritual aspirants give up the path of well-being of the world and become victims of sense enjoyment or ambition to earn name and fame. Then suffering will increase every single day. The whole world will bask in peace and joy only when everyone — leaders of countries and spiritual aspirants alike — realize the righteous path and ponder the omnipotence of the Lord.

Everyone is proud of their body, mind and intellect, forgetting the indwelling Atma, which is the real basis. The Atma has no birth or death. It is akin to the root of a tree, which sustains its branches, leaves, flowers and fruits. Atma is the basis on which the superstructure of life rests. Human life is noble, sacred and precious. Every human body is constituted by the five elements(Pancha Bhutas) and you are enclosed by the five sheaths(Pancha koshas) — food (Annamaya), life-force (Pranamaya),mind (Manomaya), intelligence (Vijnanamaya) and the sheath of Bliss (Anandamaya). While all other living species have only the first three sheaths, human beings alone have all the five. Hence, embodiments of Divine, it is everyone’s primary duty to strive and experience that Divine reality. The surest and easiest way is to begin every day with the feeling that you are very much a part of the Divine.

NASA’s Three-Billion-Mile Journey to Pluto Reaches Historic Encounter…

NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft is at Pluto.

After a decade-long journey through our solar system, New Horizons made its closest approach to Pluto Tuesday, about 7,750 miles above the surface — roughly the same distance from New York to Mumbai, India – making it the first-ever space mission to explore a world so far from Earth.

“I’m delighted at this latest accomplishment by NASA, another first that demonstrates once again how the United States leads the world in space,” said John Holdren, assistant to the President for Science and Technology and director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. “New Horizons is the latest in a long line of scientific accomplishments at NASA, including multiple missions orbiting and exploring the surface of Mars in advance of human visits still to come; the remarkable Kepler mission to identify Earth-like planets around stars other than our own; and the DSCOVR satellite that soon will be beaming back images of the whole Earth in near real-time from a vantage point a million miles away. As New Horizons completes its flyby of Pluto and continues deeper into the Kuiper Belt, NASA’s multifaceted journey of discovery continues.”

The exploration of Pluto and its moons by New Horizons represents the capstone event to 50 years of planetary exploration by NASA and the United States,” said NASA Administrator Charles Bolden. “Once again we have achieved a historic first. The United States is the first nation to reach Pluto, and with this mission has completed the initial survey of our solar system, a remarkable accomplishment that no other nation can match.”

Per the plan, the spacecraft currently is in data-gathering mode and not in contact with flight controllers at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, Maryland. Scientists are waiting to find out whether New Horizons “phones home,” transmitting to Earth a series of status updates that indicate the spacecraft survived the flyby and is in good health. The “call” is expected shortly after 9 p.m. EDT tonight.

The Pluto story began only a generation ago when young Clyde Tombaugh was tasked to look for Planet X, theorized to exist beyond the orbit of Neptune. He discovered a faint point of light that we now see as a complex and fascinating world.

“Pluto was discovered just 85 years ago by a farmer’s son from Kansas, inspired by a visionary from Boston, using a telescope in Flagstaff, Arizona,” said John Grunsfeld, associate administrator for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington. “Today, science takes a great leap observing the Pluto system up close and flying into a new frontier that will help us better understand the origins of the solar system.”

New Horizons’ flyby of the dwarf planet and its five known moons is providing an up-close introduction to the solar system’s Kuiper Belt, an outer region populated by icy objects ranging in size from boulders to dwarf planets. Kuiper Belt objects, such as Pluto, preserve evidence about the early formation of the solar system.

New Horizons principal investigator Alan Stern of the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in Boulder, Colorado, says the mission now is writing the textbook on Pluto.

The New Horizons team is proud to have accomplished the first exploration of the Pluto system,” Stern said. “This mission has inspired people across the world with the excitement of exploration and what humankind can achieve.”

New Horizons’ almost 10-year, three-billion-mile journey to closest approach at Pluto took about one minute less than predicted when the craft was launched in January 2006. The spacecraft threaded the needle through a 36-by-57 mile (60 by 90 kilometers) window in space — the equivalent of a commercial airliner arriving no more off target than the width of a tennis ball.

Because New Horizons is the fastest spacecraft ever launched – hurtling through the Pluto system at more than 30,000 mph, a collision with a particle as small as a grain of rice could incapacitate the spacecraft. Once it reestablishes contact Tuesday night, it will take 16 months for New Horizons to send its cache of data – 10 years’ worth — back to Earth.

New Horizons is the latest in a long line of scientific accomplishments at NASA, including multiple rovers exploring the surface of Mars, the Cassini spacecraft that has revolutionized our understanding of Saturn and the Hubble Space Telescope, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. All of this scientific research and discovery is helping to inform the agency’s plan to send American astronauts to Mars in the 2030’s.

“After nearly 15 years of planning, building, and flying the New Horizons spacecraft across the solar system, we’ve reached our goal,” said project manager Glen Fountain at APL. “The bounty of what we’ve collected is about to unfold.”

APL designed, built and operates the New Horizons spacecraft and manages the mission for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate. SwRI leads the mission, science team, payload operations and encounter science planning. New Horizons is part of NASA’s New Frontiers Program, managed by the agency’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

” விஸ்வ நாதம் ….” ஒரு முடிவு இல்லை அவரது இசைக்கு …”

தலைமுறைகளைத் தாண்டி நினைவில் நிற்கும் பாடல்களைத் தந்த மாபெரும் இசைக்கலைஞர் எம்.எஸ்.வி.

தமிழ்த் திரையிசையின் பொற்காலத்தைக் கண்ணதா சனுடன் இணைந்து ஆட்சிசெய்த மாமன்னர் எம்.எஸ். விஸ்வநாதன் காலமானார் என்ற தகவல் வந்தததும், சமூக வலைதளங்களில் அஞ்சலிக் குறிப்புகள் குவியத் தொடங்கின. தங்களுக்குப் பிடித்தமான எம்.எஸ்.வி-யின் பாடல்களைப் பலரும் பகிர்ந்துகொள்ளத் தொடங்கினர். தலைமுறைகளையும் காலத்தின் வீச்சையும் கடந்து அவரது படைப்புகள் நிலைபெற்றிருப்பதை உணர முடிந்தது. 1950-களின் தொடக்கத்திலிருந்து 30 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலாகத் தென்னிந்தியத் திரையிசையில் கோலோச்சியவர் எம்.எஸ்.வி. உண்மையில், பழைய பாடல்கள் என்ற பொதுப் பெயரில் அடங்கியிருப்பவற்றில் பெரும்பாலானவை அவரது ஆயிரக் கணக்கான பாடல்கள்தானே!

தொடக்கத்தில் நாடகங்களின் திரைவடிவமாக இருந்த தமிழ்த் திரைப்படங்களில் நிரம்பித் ததும்பிய பாடல்கள், சாஸ்திரிய இசையின் அடிப்படையில் அமைந்தவையாகவே இருந்தன. 1950-களில்தான் ஜனரஞ்சகமான இசையில் அமைந்த பாடல்களுக்கு தமிழ்த் திரையிசையில் இடம் கிடைக்கத் தொடங்கியது. காலம் தன்னைப் புதுப்பித்துக்கொள்ள புதுப்புது திறமைசாலிகளைத் தன் பிரதிநிதிகளாக அறிமுகப்படுத்துவது உண்டு. அப்படி, 1950-களில் தமிழ்த் திரையிசையின் போக்கை மாற்றியமைத்த இசைக் கலைஞராகக் காலத்தால் முன்னிறுத்தப்பட்டவர் எம்.எஸ்.வி. 1950-ல் வெளியான ‘மந்திரிகுமாரி’ படத்தின் மூலம் திருப்புமுனையைக் கண்ட எம்.ஜி.ஆர்., 1952-ல் வெளியான பராசக்தி படத்தில் அறிமுகமான சிவாஜி கணேசன் ஆகியோர் தமிழ்த் திரையின் வணிக வளர்ச்சிக்கும் தரத்துக்கும் தந்த பங்களிப்பைப் போல், தமிழ்த் திரையிசையின் வளர்ச்சியில் எம்.எஸ்.வி-யின் பங்கு அளவீடுகளுக்கு அப்பாற்பட்டது. அதே காலகட்டத்தில்தான், அவரது ஆஸ்தான பாடகர்களான டி.எம். சவுந்தரராஜன், பி.சுசீலாவின் சகாப்தமும் தொடங்குகிறது.

அறுபதுகளின் அரசன்!

சக இசையமைப்பாளர் டி.கே. ராமமூர்த்தியுடன் இணைந்து அவர் வழங்கத் தொடங்கிய பாடல்கள் பல தலைமுறைகளின் வாழ்வுடன் கலந்துவிட்டவை. 1950-களில் ‘பணம்’, ‘ஜெனோவா’, ‘குலேபகாவலி’, ‘மாலையிட்ட மங்கை’ போன்ற படங்களின் மூலம் சாம்ராஜ்ஜியத்தை விரிக்கத் தொடங்கிய ‘விஸ்வநாதன் – ராமமூர்த்தி’ ஜோடியின் இசை, 1960-களில் தனது படைப்பாற்றலின் உச்சத்தை அடைந்தது. பின்னாட்களில் டி.கே. ராமமூர்த்தியைப் பிரியும் சூழல் ஏற்பட்டாலும் அவரது பாடல்களின் வெற்றி பாதிக்கப்படவில்லை. டி.எம்.எஸ். பாடிய ‘யார் அந்த நிலவு’ (சாந்தி-1965), பி. சுசீலா பாடிய ‘பார்த்த ஞாபகம் இல்லையோ’(புதிய பறவை) என்று மேற்கத்திய இசையின் அடிப்படையிலான பாடல்கள், ‘ஆறோடும் மண்ணில் எங்கும்’(பழனி-1965) என்று கிராமியக் காட்சிகளைக் கண்முன் நிறுத்தும் பாடல்கள், ‘கண்கள் எங்கே நெஞ்சமும் எங்கே’ (கர்ணன்), ‘இசை கேட்டால் புவி அசைந்தாடும்’ (தவப்புதல்வன்) போன்ற சாஸ்திரிய இசை அடிப்படையிலான பாடல்கள் என்று அத்தனை வகைப் பாடல்களையும் தந்தவர் எம்.எஸ்.வி. காதல், சோகம், நகைச்சுவை, கிண்டல், சவால் என்று எத்தனையோ வகையான சூழல்களுக்கும் இசையமைக்கும் அளவுக்கு இசை வளமும், படைப்பாற்றலும், வேகமும் அவருக்குள் சுரந்துகொண்டே இருந்தன.

அவரது சமகாலத்தில் ஜி. ராமநாதன், கே.வி. மகாதேவன், வி. குமார் என்று புகழ்பெற்ற இசையமைப் பாளர்கள் இயங்கிக்கொண்டிருந்தாலும் பெருவாரியான படங்கள் எம்.எஸ்.வி-யிடமே குவிந்தன. ‘மன்னாதி மன்னன்’, ‘பாசமலர்’, ‘நெஞ்சில் ஓர் ஆலயம்’, ‘ஆயிரத்தில் ஒருவன்’, ‘ராமு’, ‘தெய்வ மகன்’ என்று அந்தக் காலகட்டத்தில் அவர் இசையமைத்த வெற்றிப்படங் களின் எண்ணிக்கை பெருகிக்கொண்டே இருந்தது. தனது வாழ்நாளில் 1,500-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட படங்களுக்கு இசையமைத்தவர் அவர். சிவாஜி படங்களுக்கு உணர்ச்சிகரமான இசை, எம்.ஜி.ஆர். படங்களுக்கு உற்சாகமான சவால் இசை, பீம்சிங், தர், பாலசந்தர் போன்ற இயக்குநர்களின் படங்களுக்குப் பரீட்சார்த்த மான இசை என்று அவர் தொடாத இசை வகைமையே இல்லை. பாலியல் பலாத்காரக் காட்சிக்குக் கூடத் தன்னிடம் பாடல் கேட்ட கே. பாலசந்தரின் சவாலையும் ஏற்றுப் பாடல் தந்தவர் அவர்.

தாக்கம் தந்த இசை

எத்தனையோ இசையமைப்பாளர்கள் இருந்தாலும் திருமணம் முதலான சுபகாரியங்கள் நடக்கும் இடங்கள், திருவிழாக்கள் முதல் துக்க வீடுகள் வரை என்று பல்வேறு இடங்களிலும் ஒலிக்கும் பாடல்கள் எம்.எஸ்.வி-யினுடையவைதான். அந்த அளவுக்கு அவரது பாடல்களின் தாக்கம், தலைமுறைகளையும் தாண்டி இன்றும் வியாபித்திருக்கிறது. அதேபோல், இசையமைப்பின்போது தனக்கு யோசனை சொல்பவர் யாராக இருந்தாலும் அதற்கு முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுக்கும் அபூர்வ குணம் அவரிடம் இருந்தது. திரையிசையில் ஜனரஞ்சக ரசனையைப் புரிந்துகொள்ளவும் அதை வளர்த்தெடுக்கவும் அது அவருக்கு உதவியது. அவரது இசையால் தாக்கம் பெற்ற கலைஞர்கள் எத்தனையோ பேர் உண்டு. அவரது ‘மாலைப் பொழுதின் மயக்கத்திலே’ பாடல் தனக்குள் ஏற்படுத்திய தாக்கம் குறித்து இளையராஜா பல முறை குறிப்பிட்டிருக்கிறார். ‘நான் பார்த்ததிலே அவள் ஒருத்தியைத்தான்’ என்ற பாடலின் தாக்கத்திலேயே ‘புது மாப்பிள்ளைக்கு’ பாடலை உருவாக்கியதாகவும் இளையராஜா குறிப்பிட்டிருக்கிறார். பாடகர் வாய்ப்புக்கான குரல் தேர்வின்போது எஸ்.பி.பி. பாடிக்காட்டியது எம்.எஸ்.வி-யின் ‘நிலவே என்னிடம் நெருங்காதே’ பாடலைத்தான். எம்.எஸ்.வி-யின் ‘யார் அந்த நிலவு’ பாடல், இந்தி இசையமைப்பாளர் ஆர்.டி. பர்மனின் ‘யாத் ஆ ரஹி ஹை’ பாடலின் மூலம். இன்றும் பாடகர் களுக்கான போட்டிகளில் அதிகம் பாடப் படுபவை அவருடைய பாடல்கள்தான்.

1970-களின் மத்தியில் காலமாற்றத்தின் தாக்கத்தில் அவரது இசையும் வேறு பரிமாணம் எடுத்தது. 1960-களில் டி.எம்.எஸ்., பி. சுசீலா போன்ற கலைஞர் களின் கூட்டணியுடன் பாடல்களைத் தந்துவந்த எம்.எஸ்.வி., 70-களில் எஸ்.பி.பி-யுடன் இணைந்து அளித்த பாடல்கள் தனிரகம். ‘அவர்கள்’, ‘அபூர்வ ராகங்கள்’, ‘நினைத்தாலே இனிக்கும்’, ‘பட்டினப் பிரவேசம்’ போன்ற படங்களில் இந்த ஜோடியின் பாடல்கள் ரசிகர்களின் சேமிப்புகளில் உயர்ந்த இடத்தை வகிப்பவை. ‘முத்தான முத்தல்லவோ’(1976) படத்தில் எஸ்.பி.பி-யுடன் இணைந்து எம்.எஸ்.வி. பாடும் ‘எனக்கொரு காதலி இருக்கின்றாள்’ பாடல் இசை மீதான அவரது காதலைச் சொல்லிவிடும். ‘தேன் சுவைக் கிண்ணம் ஏந்திய வண்ணம் நான் தரும் பாடல் அவள் தந்தாள்’ எனும் வரியில் எம்.எஸ்.வி. குறிப்பிடும் ‘அவள்’ யாருமல்ல, இசை தேவதை தான்!

தனது ஆன்மாவை இசையின் மூலமாகக் காற்றில் கலக்கவிட்டிருக்கும் எம்.எஸ்.வி-க்கு மரணம் என்பது உடல்ரீதியான ஒன்றுதான். அவரது இசைக்கு வயதும் இல்லை, மரணமும் இல்லை!
