Message For the Day…” Lack of Faith is the Source Of Weakness…”

Prema (Love) is the seed, thanmayathwam or overpowering experience of merging, is the tree and inexhaustible bliss is the fruit. For this consummation, faith is essential. Look at Arjuna! When the choice was placed before him to decide which he should receive, the army of redoubtable heroes belonging to the Yadava clan or Krishna alone who is unarmed and refusing to fight, he asked only for Krishna! He knew; he believed; and he was saved. The same choice all have to make even now, when the Lord has appeared in His swaruupa (form) here. What does it profit if one accumulates money, gold and grain? The bliss, derived from the worship of the name and form which arouses spiritual joy, is far more desirable than these. Want of faith is the source of weakness in all fields.

Jokes for the Day …. Have a Cheerful Day…

Sam got a part time job at the Post Office. The first assignment his supervisor gave him was the job of sorting the mail.

Sam  separated the letters so fast that his motions were literally a blur. Extremely pleased by this, the supervisor approached Sam at the end of his first day.

“I just want you to know,” the supervisor said, “that I’m very pleased with the job you did today. You’re one of the fastest workers we’ve ever had.”

“Thank you, Sir” said Sam   beaming, “and tomorrow I’ll try to do even better.”

“Better?” the supervisor asked with astonishment. “How can you possibly do any better than you did today?”

Sam  cooly  replied, “Tomorrow I’m going to read the addresses !!!….

A husband and wife were at a party chatting with some friends when the subject of marriage counseling came up.

“Oh, well never need that. My wife and I have a great relationship,” the husband explained.

“She was a communications major in college and I majored in theatre arts.”

He continued, “She communicates well and I act like Im listening.”

There came a big flood, and the water around Bhola’s house was rising steadily..

Bhola was standing on the porch, watching water rising all around him, when a man in a boat came along and called to Bhola, “Get in the boat and I’ll get you out of here. Bhola replied, “No thanks, God will save me.”

Bhola went into the house, and the water was starting to pour in. So, he went up to the second floor.

As he looked out, another man in a boat came along, and he called to Bhola, “Get in the boat and I’ll get you out of here.”

Again, Bhola replied, “No thanks. God will save me.”

The water kept rising. So, Bhola got out onto the roof.

A helicopter flew over, and the pilot called down to Bhola, “I’ll drop you a rope, grab onto it, and I’ll get you out of here.”

Again Bhola replied, “No thanks. God will save me.”

The water rose and rose, and soon nearly covered the whole house. Bhola fell in, and drowned.

When he arrived in Heaven, he saw God, and asked Him, “Why didn’t you save me from that terrible flood? Did I not show you my faith?”

With a loving but irritated tone God replied, “What more would you have me do? I sent people in two boats and a helicopter.”

NASA Invites Public to send their Names into Space !!!

Over 2.8 lakh people from around the world, including 21,729 Indians, have so far submitted their names to be inscribed on a NASA microchip that will eventually fly to Mars.

NASA is giving people a chance to shoot their names up into space on the first Orion mission, scheduled to for launch on December 4, and then eventually to the Red Planet.

http://mars.nasa.gov/layout/embed/image/485snm/

Currently, 2,80,429 people have submitted their names to fly into space.

The highest number of names submitted to NASA so far from a single country – a total of 1,13,121 – comes from the USA while the third-largest submission of names is from India, with 21,729 space enthusiasts from the nation giving their names.

Other countries with high participation include UK (22,491 names), Philippines (9,869 names) and Canada (7,760 names). Currently, only 1,828 names have been submitted from China and 1,620 from Pakistan.

The collected names will be included on a microchip the size of a dime. The first trip will be on board NASA’s initial test flight for the new Orion spacecraft. It is set for a 4.5-hour mission in orbit around Earth.

“After returning to Earth, the names will fly on future NASA exploration flights and missions to Mars. With each flight, selected individuals will accrue more miles as members of a global space-faring society,” NASA said.

To sign up, users have to go to NASA’s name-collecting site, fill out some basic information, and submit. The site then generates a digital “boarding pass.”

The deadline for getting your name on Orion’s inaugural flight is October 31.

Image of the Day… Crater in Planet Mercury …

One of the sharpest images ever obtained of Mercury

This unnamed crater is only 1.5 kilometers / 0.93 miles wide. It’s made more visible by the deep shadows cast on a Mercury afternoon.

Very closeup look at planet Mercury. Image obtained on August 3, 2014, via NASA / JHU / APL MESSENGER spacecraft.

Here is one of sharpest images ever obtained of the sun’s innermost planet, Mercury. It’s a small crater within a 3.75-kilometer / 2.33-mile-wide area within the Hokusai Quadrangle in Mercury’s Northern Hemisphere.

What you see here is seen an unnamed crater only 1.5 kilometers / 0.93 miles wide in the hermean [Mercury] afternoon. The surrounding terrain and the crater profiles appear quite smooth, owing to many millions of years of thermal changes between the hermean day and night as well as micrometeoroids, ‘gardening’ the regolith.

The smallest craters and degraded ghost craters seen in this image are only 20 meters / 65 feet wide.

The bright streak within the crater is a cosmic ray strike on the MDIS NAC CCD.

On September 12, 2014. the MESSENGER spacecraft periherm – its closest point to Mercury – was successfully raised from: 24.3 kilometers / 15.1 miles to 94 kilometers / 58.4 miles, extending the mission further.

Periherm will be raised again on October 24, 2014 and once more on January 21, 2015, when the fuel on board MESSENGER is expected to be depleted.

MESSENGER is expected to impact Mercury on the weekend of March 28-29, 2015.

Emirates now offers the world’s shortest Airbus A380 service. The Gulf carrier upgraded the Boeing 777-200LR aircraft that previously operated flights EK857 and EK858 between Dubai International Airport and Kuwait International Airport to superjumbo aircraft. Lasting one hour and 45 minutes in duration, the flight is the shortest A380 service globally. Emirates offers the route five times daily with both Boeing and Airbus aircraft. The carrier’s double-decker aircraft features 17 private suites in first class and 76 flat-bed seats in business class. Kuwait became the second destination in the Middle East to be served by Emirates’ A380, joining Riyadh International Airport in Saudi Arabia.

Fine of $1900 for Travelling in Train with a Wrong Ticket !!!

A PASSENGER on a Virgin train in the UK has been slapped with a whopping $1900 fine for purchasing the wrong ticket.

According to the Birmingham Mail, the man aged in his 40s was travelling from Birmingham to London with 38 friends and family members when he was caught out by inspectors.

The problem arose because the group had purchased a London Midland ticket — a slower, cheaper option than the fast but more expensive Virgin Trains service.

Ticket inspectors discovered the group as the train reached Coventry and gave them two options: Pay a total of $1460 to travel to the next stop of Watford, or pay $1900 to travel all the way to London Euston. The party chose to pay the full amount.

A fellow passenger told the Birmingham Mail that the moment was “heart stopping” and that the man looked “faint” when handed the bill.

“He looked a little faint and I’m not surprised really, I mean, it’s such a lot of money.

“The inspector was very matter of fact about it all and I understand he was doing his job — but it was an honest mistake,” he said.

A standard ticket from Birmingham New Street to London Euston on Virgin Trains usually costs between $37 and $150 for an adult, whereas a London Midland ticket costs between $11 and $128.

A spokesperson for Virgin Trains said the group could have saved more than $1000 if they had purchased the tickets in advance.

“Unfortunately, if passengers have booked to travel with another operator, their tickets are not valid on Virgin Trains’ services,” they said.

Message For the Day…” Remember that You are Who You are because Someone Helped You In the Past…”

A person with gratitude is meritorious and an ungrateful person is a sinner. Throughout your life, never forget even a small help that someone has rendered to you. Remember that you are who you are because someone helped you in the past. The wordParopakara (helping others) is a combination of three terms –Para + Upa + Kara. Para = Atma; Upa = Near and Kara = action. The objective of your meritorious deeds must be to progress nearer to God. The same Divine (Atma) is present in you and everyone. Do not perform noble deeds with the feeling that you are doing charity. Real Paropakara is to act with faith and do meritorious acts to serve the Divine in others, without entertaining feelings of division and difference. Understand clearly that physically harming or injuring others is not the only sin, but seeing others as different from the Divine within you is also sin. You may be different individuals in bodies, but the Lord within is One.

Sathya Sai Baba
