Image of the Day…Sunrise stripes on Hospital Hill, Zimbabwe…!!!

At about 6.30 on the morning of May 28, 2016,, the sun rising over Mozambique projected some bright orange light through some layers of low cloud hanging in the Mutare Valley to produce a display of alternating light and dark sunrise stripes. One of these struck the summit of the nearby granite Kopje called Hospital Hill and then obliquely descended the slope facing me while narrowing and gradually fading away. The display lasted for just six minutes.

As a tripod was not immediately available, an impromptu series of hand-held camera images was taken using a Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ-60 in sunset scenery mode. Twenty of the most suitable for generating a time-lapse sequence were selected and adjusted in size to obtain good registration before being used to produce a time-lapse movie which loops five times.

A rare combination of light and shade, with Hospital Hill looking as I’ve never seen it before!

Message for the Day…” We should recognise the great pilgrim centres of our Mind …”

SI_20160509

The moment we hear the name of Ganges, we are reminded of the two banks thereof on which are the many centres of pilgrimage, and on which lie the great places of learning. We visualise the great spiritual centres like Benares, Prayag, Rishikesh and Hardwar. In the same manner, we should also recognise the great pilgrim centres of our mind too. Our own intelligence and Antahkarana (inner instruments or senses) are the great pilgrim centres of our body. It is customary that in the holy places of pilgrimage, sacred tasks are performed; and as a consequence thereof, sacred ideas are generated. In the inner body, alongside the life flow of blood, our mind, our Chitta (heart), our Antahkarana, etc., can all be recognised as places where good ideas can be generated.

A Story of Inspiration and a Lesson to learn …

ADVICE TO ——

At the point of death a man, Tom Smith , called his children and after praying for them, he advised them to follow his footsteps so that they can have peace of mind in all that they do.
The youngest child, Immaculate, a female, looked at others and yelled, “Daddy, its unfortunate you are dying without a penny in your bank account, personally, I can’t emulate you. Other father’s that you tag as being corrupt, thieves of public funds left houses and properties for their children; even this house we live in is a rented apartment, sorry, i can’t emulate you, just go, let’s chart our own course, let’s paddle our own canoe.”  Few moments later, their father gave up the spirit.
Three years later, Immaculate went for an interview in a multinational company. The interview panel had already penciled down a candidate for the highly coveted post but wanted to complete the formality of interviewing all applicants on the list. As soon as Immaculate sat before the interview panel, the Chairman of the committee asked, “Which Smith is yours” and  Immaculate replied, “I am Immaculate Smith. My Dad Tom Smith  is now late he died a poor man…”
But the Chairman cuts in, “O my God, you are Tom Smith’s daughter? ” He turned to other members and said “This Smith man was the one that signed my membership form into the Institute of Chartered Administrators and his recommendation earned me where I am today. He did all these free. I didn’t even know his address, he never knew me from Adam. He just did it for me.”
He turned to Immaculate, I have no question for you, consider yourself as having gotten this job, resume tomorrow, your letter will be waiting for you.
Immaculate Smith became the Corporate Affairs Manager of the company with two cars, one official and one for private use, attached to the office, with a duplex and two drivers and a salary of £100,000 per month excluding allowances and other costs when she travelled outside England.
After two years of working in the company, the Group Managing Director of the company came from America to announce his intention to resign and needed a replacement. A personality with high integrity was sought after, again the company’s Consultant nominated Immaculate Smith.
In an interview, she was asked the secret of her success and the sudden sky rocketing profile and in tears, she replied, my Daddy paved these ways for me. It was after he died that I knew that he was financially poor but stinkingly rich in integrity, discipline and honesty.
She was asked again, why she is weeping since she is no longer a kid as to miss her dad still after a long time. She replied, “At the point of death, I insulted my dad for being an honest man of integrity. I hope he will forgive me in his grave now. I didn’t work for all these, he did it for me to just walk in.
So finally she was asked,” Will you follow your father’s foot steps as he requested? And her simple answer was, “l now adore the man, I have a big picture of him in my living room and at the entrance of my house. He deserves whatever I have after God.
Are you like Tom Smith?  It pays to build a name, the reward doesn’t come quickly but it will come however long it may take and it lasts longer.
Integrity, discipline, self control and fear of God makes man wealthy, not the fat bank account. Leave a good heritage for your children. Are you building a good name for your children & not a fat bank account? As an agent of CHANGE, please share this true life story with your loved ones. God bless us all.

Message for the Day…” Vedas as Shurti…has neither beginning nor will have an end….”

The Vedas do not have their origin in human beings. All history has been created by experienced people. In such things which have been created by men, there are possibilities for changes, additions and alterations; but there is no such possibility in the case of the Vedas. As the Vedas have been obtained merely by listening to sound, it has been referred to as Shruti (that which was heard). We have forgotten the Vedic culture which has neither a beginning nor will have an end, and placed our faith in material comfort. We have also tried to give more importance to what we see around us in the form of material comforts and given up what is essential for our own culture. This has brought our life into great difficulty.SI_20160512

A Floating Swimming Pool In Berlin ….!!!

The Badeschiff is one of Berlin’s most unusual attraction – a floating public swimming pool in the East Harbour section of the River Spree. The Badeschiff allows citizens to swim in a safe and sanitary environment in their river, at least in a figurative sense. The Spree itself is far too polluted to permit safe bathing.

Since its opening in 2004, it has become a true hot spot in town: deep blue swimming pool, wooden boardwalks, an open-air bar, with a stunning view. Each year between November and March the entire area is covered by a translucent shell and transformed into an enclosed wellness area. The Badeschiff was created by local artist, Susanne Lorenz, as an art project organized by the City Art Project Society of Berlin. The pool was converted from the hull of a vessel measuring eight by thirty-two metres.                                                                                                                                                                                         badeschiff (5)[2]Source….www.amusingplanet.com

Message for the Day….”God, the universal father, will punish HIS Devotees, when needed, with Love..”..”

SI_20160503 (1)In order to save His devotees, God takes many GO different actions in several ways. Devotees, unable to recognise and understand the inner meaning of such actions, think that God is giving them unnecessary difficulties. People only have external vision. God has inner vision. Paramatma is always caring for the well-being of His people. Even if a son, who has been brought up with much care by the mother, makes a mistake, the mother will correct the son and punish if appropriate. When we see this, we feel that a mother who has brought up the son with such care, love, and tenderness is harsh in punishing the child; but the mother does so with affection. In the same manner—God, the universal father, will punish His devotees, when needed, with love. Do not mistake it to be God desiring to punish people. God is always full of grace.

Message for the Day…” Understand the great quality of Krishna ….”

SI_20160520Lord Krishna made a sacred determination that he would bring peace and happiness to all by setting a personal example. He radiated happiness, irrespective of whether he was in a battlefield, cremation ground or in a peaceful place. This was a great quality of Lord Krishna. We sing only in our happy moments, but Lord Krishna was singing even in a battlefield and was exuding happiness. He was always in bliss. Look at the root meaning of the name Krishna: ‘One who is an object of attraction to everyone is Krishna.” The other meaning is ‘Karshayateethi Krishna – Krishna is one who ploughs the field’. Realise that the field that Krishna ploughs is the field of your heart. By ploughing your heart, He generates the fruits of peace and distributes them amongst the human beings. Such is the ideal picture of Krishna which we should form in our mind.

Erupting volcano? Fire in the mountains? Not really. These are so-called crepuscular rays. We witnessed this amazing view just before sunrise in Atacama desert in Chile. In the center of the image one see famous stratovolcano Licancabur (19,420 feet or 5,920 meters) illuminated by the sun from behind. Beautiful rays spans across the sky and the sun will appear just in seconds.

Worlds Safest Airlines …Top 20….” Qantas is in Top of the list for the 3rd Year ” …

qantasjessrqst

Nervous flyer?  Just want to know you’re traveling with a reliable airline? Find out who are the world’s safest airlines.

AirlineRatings.com, the world’s only safety and product rating website, which was launched in June 2013, has announced its top twenty safest airlines and top ten safest low cost airlines for 2016 from the 407 it monitors.

Top of the list for the third year is Australia’s Qantas, which has a fatality free record in the jet era – an extraordinary record. Making up the remainder of the top twenty in alphabetical order are: Air New Zealand, Alaska Airlines, All Nippon Airlines, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, EVA Air, Finnair, Hawaiian Airlines, Japan Airlines, KLM, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airline System, Singapore Airlines, Swiss, United Airlines, Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Australia.

AirlineRatings.com’s rating system takes into account a range of factors related to audits from aviation’s governing bodies and lead associations as well as government audits and the airline’s fatality record. AirlineRating.com’s editorial team, one of the world’s most awarded and experienced, also examined each airline’s operational history, incident records and operational excellence to arrive at its top twenty safest airlines.

The AirlineRatings.com top twenty have always been at the forefront of safety innovation and launching of new aircraft and these airlines have become a byword for excellence. Responding to public interest, the AirlineRatings.com editors also identified their top ten safest low cost airlines.

They are in alphabetical order: Aer Lingus, Flybe, HK Express, Jetblue, Jetstar AustraliaThomas Cook, TUI Fly, Virgin AmericaVolaris and Westjet.

Unlike a number of low cost carriers, these airlines have all passed the stringent International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and have excellent safety records.
Of the 407 airlines surveyed, 148 have the top seven-star safety ranking but almost 50 have just three stars or less. There are 10 airlines with only one star and these airlines are from Indonesia, Nepal and Surinam.

In selecting Qantas as the world’s safest airline AirlineRatings.com editors noted that over its 95-year history the world’s oldest continuously operating airline has amassed an extraordinary record of firsts in operations and safety and is now accepted as the industry’s most experienced carrier.

The Australian airline has been a leader in: the development of the Future Air Navigation System; the Flight Data Recorder to monitor plane and later crew performance; automatic landings using Global Navigation Satellite System as well as precision approaches around mountains in cloud using RNP. Qantas was the lead airline with real time monitoring of its engines across its fleet using satellite communications, which has enabled the airline to detect problems before they become a major safety issue.

Last year was a disturbing year for airline safety with some tragic and bizarre accidents such as the high profile GermanWings and Metrojet disasters. However according to Aviation-Safety.net data, the 16 accidents in 2015 with 560 fatalities were below the 10-year average of 31 accidents and 714 fatalities. Last year was also a significant improvement over 2014 when there were 21 fatal accidents with 986 fatalities.

Balancing these numbers the world’s airlines carried a record 3.6 billion passengers on 34 million flights in 2015.

Flashback 50 years and there were a staggering 87 crashes killing 1,597 when airlines carried only 141 million passengers – 5 per cent of today’s number.
